Back in the 90's I worked at a autorepair shop and got to drive police cars onto the lift in the shop and of course we got to play with the light's and stuff when moving those cars. Now my son is a cop and I will hear stories from him eventually.

Every department has the units set up differently and can use different equipment as well. Most departments use between 1-3 different car models. Most popular is the, Tahoe Police Version and the Explorer Police Version which is called, Ford Utility and not an Explorer.

This is mostly accurate. You can take the cage out but most cops like it in. My dad has his without the cage and will put who ever he is arresting in the front passenger seat so the guy can’t choke him.

In Australia, suspects normally get transported in a wagon which basically has a large plastic box attached to the back of it, or they can transport non aggressive people in the back of a regular car but they don’t have any sort of protection

It is a beast of a car and an amazing first car that only cost me 9k in total with only 42k miles right now, and a V8. Did I forget to mention that it still has a metal center console, police light hidden within the grill, and a large police light in the back seat from whileen! I love this car and after seeing this I know for a fact it will last me a long time!
One flaw I see so far: police vehicles are fleet vehicles, and are all keyed the same. If a criminal gets a fleet key for that make and model, which isn't hard, they can steal cop cars, and drive them into trailers with Faraday cages to prevent any of the radio frequencies from going in or out.

I was in a cop car once in 2014. I was on vacation and my parents car broke down. A cop came by and was kind enough to give a ride to the nearest hotel which wasn’t very far, so we didn’t need to worry that a call would come in. It may sound crazy but it’s true.
bro, never get arrested here in brazil. the law just require to be a metal cage with no seats or seatbelt with a minimum size (usually fits 2 back to back). it gets adapted usually in the back of a SUV or a minivan. also, you'll probably go on the cage cuffed in the back, it'll be a wild ride.
my first car was an old crown vic from the late 90s, had been my father's before he passed. Was built as part of a police order but then canceled, so the extras were taken out but it still had the upgraded body and engine, and wiring. And we had quite a few rather amusing situations where people,. including police, mistook it for a police car.
Ford factory and dealerships don't put in the police equipment. Ford just has the different suspension, rear gear, certain engine parts and pre-wiring, tire, brakes.
I remember when I went in a police car. They were so nice that they gave me bracelets. I love how safe they are about not getting sick cause they put me in the back and there’s a metal divider separated the driving and the backseat. They also took me to this hotel and even gave me free clothes. 😃
as a son and an nephew of police officers i regret to inform you that you forgot about the dashcam (unless the plate camera thing records), and a rifle lock in the seat, and how the doors only open on the outside (and some K9 car doors have remote openers) some cop cars dont have the laptops in it, but instead a tablet now. i can say that i grew up in a police family, but now a days i dont see it as cool as i used to when i was a kid.
Ex FCA engineer here. New Challenger and Charger police vehicles have plugins for the laptops in the trunk compartments that allow them to access all the information on the infotainment screen, also they get a bigger screen, in addition to all the lights and doodads.
There wasn’t anything I heard that’s wrong except the bulletproof glass on the partitions, it’s very hard, only the doors and maybe front and rear windows may be. Good video honestly.

as a son and an nephew of police officers i regret to inform you that you forgot about the dashcam (unless the plate camera thing records), and a rifle lock in the seat, and how the doors only open on the outside (and some K9 car doors have remote openers) some cop cars dont have the laptops in it, but instead a tablet now. i can say that i grew up in a police family, but now a days i dont see it as cool as i used to when i was a kid.
This makes me wanna become a cop!

Ex FCA engineer here. New Challenger and Charger police vehicles have plugins for the laptops in the trunk compartments that allow them to access all the information on the infotainment screen, also they get a bigger screen, in addition to all the lights and doodads.

There wasn’t anything I heard that’s wrong except the bulletproof glass on the partitions, it’s very hard, only the doors and maybe front and rear windows may be. Good video honestly.
