We are in the Purge right now guys. The government is evil beyond belief, greedy among men, self protective, and is only concerned about its image and doesn't give a crap about civilians. This is why we need to o keep praying for them, because Jesus IS the way, the truth, and the Life. He is the ONLY way to Salvation. We are sinners, but He is not. Governments don't want people making alot of easy untaxed money. Pot creates social problems and less progress or advancement. But creates jobs for police officers and prison system and a need for those institutions of control. A population of 1 million people needs x amount of police, judges lawyers etc to control that population so they need laws to justify having those numbers. Someone not paying tax and making alot of money is direct competition to government.
      Couldve said it better but hopefully you get my point

    • @travisgodfrey-evans2182
      @travisgodfrey-evans2182 Год назад +205

      @@plasticflower Because you can VERY quickly and easily, and cheaply go through weed dealing/using cases because it's so common and the 'war on drugs' attitude still exists today (even though it's one of if not the safest drugs, perhaps safer than alcohol). I don't know if you've ever been on a jury or been involved in anything legal, but even simple things are expensive and take a long time. Also, the upkeep definitely outweighs the benefits of the labour because you don't necessarily have to pay prisoners because of loopholes ("It's not slave labour, it's educational"), even then, you barely need to pay them as it is. Not only that, but often powerful political figures have a quota they want to fill to prove their point to their sponsors and voters, if you can arrest X amount of criminals more than X last year, you are "reducing crime", and then your whole political party gets seen as the one that's stopping crime, and hopefully one day you get even more sponsors; it just so happens it's significantly easier to imprison some guy selling a little bit of weed in his garden to his friends than it is to host full-on investigations into highly organised crime.
      The sex offender could be free labour, obviously, and I'm not agreeing that everything is a conspiracy and that every judge will just let sex offenders go free because it's easy, but you have to recognise (and judges have even written books about it themselves) that there is a lot of corruption, laziness, and negligence, and greed.

    "Why didn't they just unswirl his face"
    It's not that simple. The swirl function, just like blur, can have thousands of variations in proprietary and open software and libraries. Those thousands of variations are algorithms that have hundreds of parameters each for mathematically transforming the image. In some of those transforms, the transform itself is mutated so that you cannot "input 1, swirl to 9, and reverse back to 1" because after the initial transforms, there is no longer a starting point - similar to how in some cases you can decompile a .dll but destroy the data in the process, so you are left with decompiled code that still doesn't give you a way to recreate the compiled version. So in addition to the fact that it is nontrivially computationally difficult to determine how the swirl was formed, even if the method is discovered, it might still be impossible to "unbake the cake". But yeah.

    • @abhigyanbiswas
      @abhigyanbiswas 4 месяца назад +18

      but didn't they just 'unswirl' it later on? with just a click of a button? or was the process more complicated than shown here?

    • @Dave-lr2wo
      @Dave-lr2wo 4 месяца назад +147

      @@abhigyanbiswas This is a nontechnical YT video, so I'm not drawing any conclusions by what is meant from the lay phrase "click a button". Think of it like DNA Forensics. 30 years ago, the techniques for analyzing DNA, where possible, took complex lab procedures and a lot of time. Today, those same procedures are literally at the clicks of a few buttons, but underneath the click is a huge quantities of processing and problem solving. Or a rocket launch -- one rocker switch opens the gate to thousands of proceses. So even if the software used after the fact was commercial/off the shelf, it's possible that "just clicking a button" could unswirl it when prior attempts couldn't, simply because the tooling got much better on average. -- And don't forget, dumb luck also plays a role, like happening to try the right keys to a random lock on the first try...

      Naive comment. Canada certainly has areas of leniency in its laws that need to be changed - especially regarding sex-related crimes - but if you look at most Euro countries or the UK it’s the exact same.
      So going by that logic and your approach to it, I’d assume you’re from the USA. In which case I’d recommend you check out the drastic amount of crimes committed in America (by percentage) as compared to Canada.

      @saddesklunch2544 11 месяцев назад +421

      The thing isn’t that they think he shouldn’t be shamed, (he absolutely does) it’s that he doesn’t deserve the notoriety of being “Mr. Swirl.” We saw in the video that he took pride in the name, so if we broadcast his face and express how disgusted we are with him, he wins. He gets to be that big bad boogeyman that has the control over others’ lives he could only dream of.
      I think the worst way to punish someone like this is to let the world forget about him, while still remembering his victims. Let him rot by himself, with the whole world having turned its back on him. No one knows him, and he doesn’t have any power anymore.
      Edit: Okay, so I blundered with my explanation here. I think in the case of people like this guy, who are free in the population at large, we need to show their faces and names, so it's harder for them to trick more victims. I was trying to explain the reason why people censor the names and faces of these criminals, using Mr. Swirl as my example. In doing so, I accidentally made the insinuation that he deserves the same treatment. I assure you, this was purely unintentional.
      Apologies for the confusion.

    I love how this video follows his crimes and how he was caught and not his life. Child abusers don’t deserve sympathy in any way or get any excuses.
    Edit: My wording is terrible. Okay. Let me try to explain what I meant. Of course spreading awareness is important. Sympathy was the wrong word to use. What I was referring to is people turning people that are clearly struggling with mental health (which causes them to act as they do) and twist it into some mysterious villain in some TV drama. Like in those true crime podcasts where there are jokes being made at the victim’s expense and the perpetrator’s actions are romanticized together with their mental illnesses and problems. These people need help. Not being made to be some fictional agent of evil and chaos. And with “following his life” I was referring to how a lot of the time true crime show the nuance of the perpetrators but completely jumps over the victims. It’s like they flesh out the perpetrator’s character and then go “oh and then he murdered some guy” and move on.
    I hope you can now understand better, what I was trying to say. I must admit my choice of words was quite tasteless and rushed. To be fair I didn’t think my comment would gain so much traction.

      @@MintyLime703 Canada seriously fucked up in this situation without a doubt, and has a horrendous track record for leniency that I strongly despise. But this is a complete misrepresentation of the MAiD program and I'm sick of it being portrayed as the Canadian government executing people left and right for 'filling out a bit of paperwork'. There's at minimum 7 conditions you have to meet just to be considered, including being of sound mind, not being under duress, having a terminal or permanent illness (which excludes mental illness completely at the moment) and having some kind of suffering that can't be alleviated by reasonable means. The assessment process is long and requires multiple doctors to testify that you meet these conditions, there's a ton of safeguards in place to avoid ineligible/insufficient proof, you have to re-confirm your consent and prove you still meet the conditions at the last step, and if you show resistance in any way even after final consent, approval is revoked. If you did a five minute google search you'd see all of the procedures that have to be taken to even be considered listed with the associated laws on the Government of Canada website. You'd also learn that the Netherlands has been doing medically assisted death since 2002 and have an even lower age limit than Canada, and y'all aren't out here pretending they murder 12-year-olds for having migraines or depression.
      If you don't agree with the idea of medically assisted dying, that's fine. But you don't get to misrepresent it to make yourself feel better about your opinion. Stop contributing to false information.

If they would have just swIrled the image in the opposite direction (as shown in the video at 10:30) then they would have had his face sooner. Of course they still had to identify who he is after the face was revealed which would have taken more effort. My best guess is Interpol tried this at first but screwed it up and then years later someone else came along and tried again using different software and it worked. It may have been difficult to figure out which software Mr Swirl used to make the Swirl in the first place.
