When Amanda died I feel like the media made this too much about the bullying aspect at her school and not enough about the fact that Amanda was a victim of an actual organized crime organization.

And when Teens React did a video on it they also thought it was a bullying thing because one girl said that there are people who commit suicide for better reasons.

So a group of sadistic pedophiles would prey and manipulate young to very young girls into performing sexual acts only then to torment them, and blackmail them to do whatever they want? But in the event they committed suicide they would toss them away like garbage and move onto the next victim? Truly sickening. I honestly wish these pieces of shit would be charged with murder if the victim took their own life.

A capper did this to me at 12 years old back in 2011. I was talking to who I thought was a 16 year old boy, but looking back it was probably a child predator. We talked for awhile and he convinced me to send him pics in a swimsuit. After he got the swimsuit photo he threatened to put it on a CP site and forward the photo to my family if I didn’t send him more content. Thankfully I didn’t send him anything else. I just panicked. I blocked him and deleted all my accounts and spent the next 6 months in a constant state of anxiety. I never told anyone. I was too young to understand that I was the victim and was completely ashamed.

The fact this case was swept under the "bullying" umbrella is appalling. Growing up I always thought she flashed one of her friends or some guy from school, nobody ever talked about how she was stalked, harassed, and brutally blackmailed by pedophiles to the point of moving multiple times. Same here. Really reminded me about that era of the internet and the response most people had to cyber bullying in general. When I first heard about Amanda she was brushed under the bullying umbrella and every adult, and even fellow kids were talking About how it was partially (or all) her fault for "messing" on the internet. There were videos of people parodying her flashcards video on RUclips. Tosh.0 even went in on it. And that was just the general air towards kids who committed suicide.
Even the news as they reported seriously there was a feeling by the reporter that they didn't really think it was serious or they were looking down on the kid.
I thought Amanda's case was just bullying, but it was so disgusting and devastating and it got buried and minimized by so many people that it's not common knowledge what really happened, and it should be.

They usually try to think of the most vulnerable people they can ruin and go after them relentlessly, usually women and children, most often both, then they act cocky about it to make themselves feel like they're "Cool" for distributing an underaged girl's photos to the entire internet and harassing her to the point of killing herself so they can feel even more like they're super cool and evil and have the power to manipulate others. It's dangerously pathetic in every sense of the word, and this all probably applies to people like racists, queerphobes, serial killers who kill and then act like smarmy bastards, people like that. It's sickeningly pathetic and people like this deserve to be put in the electric chair so they can't hurt and traumatize anyone else so that THEY will grow up to resent the world for their emptiness and turn to a life of causing pain and suffering as well.

i had this happen to me as a minor, and it is still one of the scariest things i've ever been through. no one ever blackmailed me, instead they leaked all of my personal information. all of my social medias, my phone number and probably more i'm just unaware about. i'd get dm's saying someone found me online on places like 4chan, and i ended up with online stalkers who'd pop up here and there for about 3 years after it happened. i ended up in threads on reddit, had pictures of myself messaged to me by people trying to scare me, and also spam called by multiple people some days. although i do feel ashamed that i put myself in that situation in the first place, i was still a kid and my parents had no control over my internet access, and they should have. i don't know if anyone will read this but please keep yourself safe online and never trust a stranger, i was just lucky that my situation wasn't worse than it was.

If I were a pedo, I bet you i could find a dozen underage girls tonight on any of the major hookup/dating apps. All romantic apps should require verified ID. That way, nobody stealths, does any bug chasing, or rapes anyone and gets away with it. Anonymous should be for internet browsing and comment sections only, not for intimate personal connections. If you're going to be a slut, everyone should be able to know. Frankly, given how many kids are still prayed on, I would be okay if lawmakers put an age limit on when one can use the internet unsupervised. I had a scare with my cousin who is only 11. As the family tech person, I was helping her with an iPad issue and caught her on Roblox with her age set to 18. She was trying to get content that her friends were playing (usually horror games) but that could have opened so many dangerous doors that she had no idea about. I had to sit her down and explain how dangerous that could have gone if she met the wrong person online. The internet is just too unpredictable for kids and it worries me a lot.

I never once heard of this, back then me and most people understood that she flashed to her school mates and got bullied for it, I never once heard of this youtube ring of blackmailing and pedophilia, it's insane and depressing.

I agree in my high school after her death that's what the 24 paper said as well and this was in Vancouver bc, people blamed her for what she did even though the person at fault are the ones harassing and bullying her. I think the capper sent the photos to the police and the Todd family found out so it went bad.. makes me feel negative when a person goes through this kind of torment.

That's what I heard too. Everyone spoke of the bullying and flashing, but never of this online pedophilia. It makes it even worse than before.

this is definitely one of the hardest videos to watch, i feel sick. sadly we can't do much more than teaching kids to be safe and hope that they all have adults they can trust if someone ever tries to harm them in any way, i remember being asked por nude pictures all the time on facebook when i was 12, these monsters are everywhere

Seeing something like Crashbox that was such a huge part of my childhood be associated with an online community that's so dark and depraved just disturbs me. Everything about this disturbs me. My heart goes out to every single girl who found themselves blackmailed by these sick, sick people. I hope you're all able to heal from what you went through. May Amanda Todd's beautiful soul rest in peace, along with anyone else who took their lives as a result from this community's actions, and may every individual out there who took part in "capping" rot in hell.

crashbox was literally my childhood trauma... but to see it being used like this just pisses me off.
