I have the first album in mono, on vinyl -- found it in a thrift shop for a dollar. OMG, it is the best, the first thing I pull out when I fire up the turntable. I'm on social security now, but if you like the Stones and can afford the the box, by all means get it.

As someone born in ‘91, this is a great opportunity to get their 60s LPs in their original format. I’ll still try to hunt down originals, but this is a great collector’s item, nonetheless.

There's at least 20 reissues from 1960's Stones albums since 1981 when I start buying them . Okay about the first 4 ( including US editions) , but since Between the Buttons , Stones are way better stereo. Bad production ? Compare Beatles , The Who mono with Stones. Way different. Now if you wanna waste your money on booklets, color vinyls that's okay , but this was out long time ago. I think the best reissues are from 2000 when they finally toke over their Abkco (Decca- London ) , they improve their 60's catalogue . Still First , No.2 , Out of our heads and especially Aftermath still sounds not that good. After Between till Let it bleed they are good along with ( now named ) Stray Cats are good. Beside kids today won't get this , because they barely know Satisfaction or Jumping Jack Flash , times changed very much last 20-25 years . Kids don't get even The Beatles catalogue . I've spot that they barely buying the compilations like "1" or if they wanna Beatles or Stones , they go through streaming services . So this stuff are now collector's stuff only unfortunately... I was surprised when some 20 years old guy asked me is that same McCartney who plays Dance tonight and Hey Jude...hm. shame.this is the legacy. Different times , must admit.

@@Dmy602 people aren’t wasting their money with this boxset. They sound awesome and are a great opportunity to own it in the original format, which I value.
I’ve seen and listened to reviews comparing originals, early reissues, and the 2016 mono boxset, and the 2016 boxset holds its own. There is, of course, a certain ambiance that is lost because it’s not all analog, but they still sound great. And the tapes need to be taken care of, so I understand the decision-making.
It’s not until Beggars Banquet that the stereo versions of the albums are head and shoulders above the mono mixes. Anyway, I respect your opinion, brother, so thanks for sharing it ✌️

Thanks for showing this one. I wasn't aware of its existence until now. I managed to pick up the original Mono box a couple of years ago. In my opinion the best part of it is the Stray Cats album. Well worth having if you're a serious Stones collector. Nice!

If you're serious Stones collector , you should get all those over 100 legal live albums , mostly from the same tour same material which Keith says that's the biggest rubbish by the Stones ever , also get Stones bootlegs. There's over 2000. Make no sense , I'm collector as well , but some things make no sense. I've got this mono box since 2016 , except the package , don't really know what else is new and good there. Stray Cats album is an compilation from their complete Decca singles from Come on , all mono. No big difference if you have previous issues as the box set London Years , or Rolled Gold or Grrrr! . I thought the sound is at least improved , but no way. I think Mick and Keith really don't care what's pressing . Take Tatoo You deluxe edition. Disc 2 is okay , most of the stuff finally legal ,but the live album is the other gig from the American tour 81 , which you already have on Still Life. I mentioned The White album because the mono version is annoying , with slightly extended version of Yer Blues and there's no end on Helter skelter ( as the original mono mix which Martin did after the stereo) . Who need that ? Okay if you have money to waste . Got once , twice , man 3 , 4 , 5 , endless reprise of the same thing makes no sense at all. Best wishes to the author , as a fellow collector , I really appreciate you , but man , too much into nonsense prog rock bands . There's a Giants there , but not all of them , especially not everything by Jethro Tull. Congratulations on your opinion on Bowie Scary Monsters . Cheers and best wishes.

ABKO own the rights to these Rolling Stones 1960's recordings in perpetuity, The Rolling Stones can't ask for the rights to be returned to them for any reason. ABKO bought the masters before The Rolling Stones realised that the rights for their masters were up for sale. So now if The Rolling Stones want to monetise their 1960's recordings, and limit at the same time ABKO's monetary gain, The Stones have to use what limited legal bargaining rights with ABKO they have.

I am old enough to remember these albums been released and they were great at the time.
