Long term companion of Captain, Commander Horatio Hornblower, Styles, is accused of nearly setting light to the ship Hotspur and is sentenced for his alleged crime.
Es inhumano como le dejan la espada de niño vi un vecino mio peleando con dos,uno saco una vara, el otro lo sujeto y tenia asi la espalda, esa imagen se me quedo para siempre
Thanks for posting this - but why are film floggings alost always so badly done? Half of the tails seem to land on his head or neck - and rope cats just do NOT cut the skin like that - it is more "abrading". I know it is just a film, but they could at least get the tails landing on target and not "draped over the back of the head" half the time.
It's probably simply because they're trying not to actually hurt their actor. It's low budget so they can't really put in effects to make it look hyper realistic. They make do with what they have, and what they have is rope. So they swing it a little softer than they really would have, thus the rope lands in the wrong place.
krum will You do not go back on punishments, Captain Hornblower merely acknowledged that it actually wasn’t Styles, a leader and especially a Navy Captain must be strict as to establish uniformity of the law and procedure.
I like to see ugly brutes under the lash, it is also nice to see young fit lithe men under punishment, but in days gone by I dare say there were lots of ugly brutes in the navy, and they had to be kept in line with the threat of the lash.
And that folks is where we get the saying " letting the cat out of the bag"
When you see the grating rigged upright and the order "all hands to witness punishment" is heard, someone is going to have a bad day

I thought Hornblower was opposed to flogging. At least he was in the books.
He took the lash well. Nice flogging, but that whip wouldn't have drawn blood anywhere near that early if at all. I know I've been under it.
A ti te han azotado así alguna vez?
Naval whippings in the military were no joke! if applied judicially, and not sadistically, I suppose it could be an effective deterrent.

RagingWaldo One reason they stopped making Hornblower was because of how incredibly High-Budget it was...
@@RagingWaldoThis series was most definitely NOT low budget.
later in the series they find he was innocent
Emma so fucking sad .. ? What do they do that they found him innocent?

@@historyfanatic2221 that and you can't take back a flogging after the fact.
@@drumsalive turns out someone else had sabotaged the ship and started the fire he was thought to be responsible for.
I always liked Matthews and styles. Funny how bush always taunts styles.
That's the highlight of Bush's day: a reason to have Styles flogged.
if he was a captain in his own right, he'd have Styles flogged every other day.
OMG!!! young voldemort at 2:24
Stripped to the waist taking the lash! Always hot!😅
Who’s the actor at 2:17?
@whipnotized Not that a flogging is ever nice but I see your point.
Whipping why

Like little boy blue, its what you do:)
Men in prison today should be lashed like this as well!
Stiles had it coming anyway for past unpunished faults.
Especially paedophiles and armed robbers and people who commit GBH with intent.
@@johnb6723 Pedophiles don't need a flogging. They need a bullet to back of the head or a rope around their necks and dropped according to weight.
@@uncatila and Bush was always looking for a reason to flog him.
I disagree, you don't go to prison to get further punishment, prison is the punishment
but he didnt do it!!
