Hi Chrissie.now your doing some comedy as well as film, check out extras bloopers(another word for corpsing/fkin up)also Derek bloopers.I personally think Derek is his best work as an actor.though love everything about him Merry Xmas from England 🤗😘
Hi Chrissie love your channel. Your Mr Inbetween review was the best! When you need a new series please consider Jean Claude Van Johnson. It's amazing. JCVD taking the mickey out of himself. All the best for 2025
David Bowie is Ricky's hero, interesting and enjoyable back story on their friendship. Ricky wrote the lyrics, and Bowie obviously did the music. Bowie, what an absolute legend. Black Star. Never forgotten
He also mentored Arcade Fire. David was also did some backing vocals for their "Reflector" track. ruclips.net/video/7E0fVfectDo/видео.html I am pretty sure there is a video on RUclips of David performing with them at one of their concerts. [edit] here. ruclips.net/video/z6c9Ejfu-iU/видео.html
I love the meta perspective here in the second season, with the sitcom and how it is The Office in a parallell universe. Last episode Andy tried to stand up for himself, but backed down, the way Ricky and Stephen didn't do on The Office. They've talked about it in interviews, and said that doing The Office exactly how they wanted it was more important for them than to be on TV. So When the whistle blows is what The Office could have been if they were just interested in becoming famous, and didn't have any artistic integrity. Because the set up is the same: taking place at a workplace, with a very awkward boss, played by Ricky himself.
Diana Rigg was a super hotty. She was Emma Peel in the Avengers back when it was the black and white version. She also played that badass Queen Mother in Game of Thrones. The one who had that beautifully acerbic ending with Jamie Lannister. "Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me".
@@BadgerUKvideo My Order 1/ Diana Rigg 2/ Honor Blackman( would be Joint Number 1 if not in lck and White and the first time a Female had a dual top billing)4 The New Avengers with Joanna Lumley and a distant 4th : Linda Thorson, who just happened to be going out with The Produced at that time. lol
I was worried this would be a disappointing episode with Bowie making a very brief appearance and only having one line. I was so happily surprised -- and impressed with his (apparent) enthusiasm to be there. Topping it off was the warmth of your Canadian sunshine to make everything feel good for a while. Thanks again, Chrissie! 🤗 Also, the thumbnail is awesome. Well done! 🥰"Could you give me an autograph?" 😁
He did a podcast with Joe Wilkinson called "Gossipmongers". Basically people emailed in ridiculous gossip that they'd heard, often from their school days, and they read it out. I think it's finished now, but it was extremely funny.
He wants what his 'friend' Greg is getting: respect from the industry, other actors and critics. This persona is very Ricky, whether jokingly or not, he often lamented their 'audience' and who listened to them on the XFM radio shows and podcasts. Many of the situations described in those shows made it to Ricky's TV work and standup. Particularly situations involving Karl Pilkington, who makes an appearance as a reporter in the Extras xmas special/final
‘ Fame (fame) puts you there where things are hollow’. I feel it’s no coincidence that Bowie featured in ‘Extras’. To me, ‘Extras’ is a darkly comedic view into what makes people seek fame and at what cost. Love your reaction, Chrissie. ☺️
I've not had you crop up in my recommendations for a while. I can see you reacted to the Ross Kemp Extra. One of my favourite episodes. So I know which one I'll be watching next. 🥳 (There's no way these make you cry! 😅😜)
Ha ha...just found your channel. When you finish Extras, can you react to the "Extras Bloopers". Sometimes i think they're funnier than the actual show... but definitely gives some appreciation if how hard some of these scenes were to film. Especially when Ricky starts corpsing!
Andy wanted to be with the “in crowd” but got roundly humiliated and in the end went back to the pub to seek actual warmth from the unhinged fan and his friends.
John Cleese says all British humour is based on embarrassment. This is soooo painful to watch, but it's so human, especially when he goes back to the "blue collar" pub.
I'm with you Chrissie on the Maggie character. I found her infuriating and i get Gervais / Merchant were trying to create that secondary "underdog" never do well figure that compliments the main character, but Maggie is imo so unbelievably dense at key moments it just doesn't ring true. ( in particular the BBC " you might want to tone it down" scene with Andy's BBC writer which was both annoying and baffling to the point of implausability
Hey Chrissie, Have you done the film 'Whiplash' before? One of the greatest villains in cinema history - but the film is different. I think you'd both really enjoy it, AND your reactions might be entertaining too.
My one small gripe with this episode, was that Gervais seemed to allow his genuine admiration for Bowie to affect the script. Normally he delights in mocking his guest stars, and much of the humour is seeing them play along with the joke at their own expense. With Bowie, on the other hand, Gervais kept himself as the target of the humour throughout, and treated Bowie with deference. Still funny, obviously, but I couldn't help thinking that Ricky must have been more than a little starstruck when he wrote it.
Fun fact - the Mama falling music was originally a cheesy Justin Bieber song slowed with a piece of software called Paulstretch that went early days type viral. His label didn't clear it so production had to record something similar sounding and process it in the same way to give the same effect.
I'm really enjoying these reactions Chrissie. I just want to make something crystal clear though: There isn't a shred of malice to Maggie. She is just incredibly stupid. 😅
Chrissie, just a piece of advice: for your own sanity don't take Maggie's dopiness and quirks to heart. It's not real. These parts are written for her by Gervais and Merchant to puncture Andy's facade as are most of the characters. It's just that she plays "dopey" really well.
Best cameo to date!! 😂 Full reactions on Patreon.com/chrissiereacts

How about a good old fashioned British borstal film for xmas-scum

If you don't know who Diana Rigg is you could do worse than read about her on wikipedia, but also google "Diana Rigg A touch of Brimstone"

Barry from eastenders is a national treasure
Ever since I first saw you were doing reactions to Extras, I couldn't wait til you saw the Bowie episode. It's my absolute favourite 🤣
R.I.P. David Bowie, what an artist.

According to Ricky, working with David Bowie was one of the highlights of his career. What a talent! RIP 🙏🏼

That's The Avengers 1960's Cult Series, not the recent "Avengers".
I fantasised over Diana in The 1960;s as Emma Peel:)
@@Isleofskye I can still hear the theme music in my head. Such a cool show!

Emma Peel = M. Appeal = Man Appeal ( only one of her three seasons was black and white )
And of course DB is Ricky's ultimate hero, what a classic episode

David Earl (weirdo in the pub) is a fab actor. So funny in Ricky's 'Derek' and 'afterlife'

Love your work x
Ricky and David Bowie became friends after Bowie watched the office. He even used to open for him when Ricky performed at madison square garden.
Diana Rigg is (was) Olanna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, but whose acting career dates back to the original Black and white Avengers.
Not knowing who Diana Rigg was, is criminal!
and james bond with the australian george lazenby

Ricky and Stephen should make a series around Merchants character and Barry from Eastenders. There chemistry is so funny.

What could be better than watching comedy with an intelligent and stunning woman? Great work again, Chrissie. 🥰 xxx
More of an actual part than just a cameo :-)

Hello. In my opinion, Extras is one of the best. I do recommend Peep Show. Nice channel , greetings Chrissie.
Great! Thanks Chrissie 😁! Bowie was so good. RIP.
This was my fav episode.
The ending to this episode is my favourite scene in ANYTHING Gervais/Merchant related.
So funny.
Derek had a few teary moments.but Karl wing walking instead of dressing up in leather took some bollox
Fun fact: my mother was a huge Bowie fan, so much so, that my first word was, "Bowie".
Andy wanted to be with the “in crowd” but got roundly humiliated and in the end went back to the pub to seek actual warmth from the unhinged fan and his friends.
Have you seen The Office UK as well?
Yeeeaars ago!

And i think the Songhere is inspired by David Bowie - Little Wonder which was mid 90s - there are so many similarities

G’day from Australia.. movie recommendation “ St Vincent “ would love to see your reaction to this movie 👌
They were really good friends btw....they wrote each other letters
It's easy to forget Ricky writes the whole show.
Stephen Merchant who co-wrote and directed this series, would like a word. His eyes bulging with imagined comebacks.

I feel Bowie in this is exactly in line with previous guest stars, in that he's being an arse just to service the story.
I still sing this 😂
Extras is so great. Have you watched life's too short.
Ahhh.. 'Count Fu*kula' :DDD
Dredd (2012)? Definitely a movie where the production and cast gave a shit about it being a good movie.
Fun fact - the Mama falling music was originally a cheesy Justin Bieber song slowed with a piece of software called Paulstretch that went early days type viral. His label didn't clear it so production had to record something similar sounding and process it in the same way to give the same effect.

Daniel Radcliffe ep is great.
Especially pissing himself with laughter in the bloopers

love youuu
Funny thing is that Ricky wrote the words to the Bowie song ridiculing him…
I think it would have been even funnier if Bowie had written it. 😉
