      Okay felony, but your argument still doesn't make up for the difference in Hall versus Larsson. That deal ruined every teams chances of trading for D when it happened as well. Who wants to give up their top forwards for D that aren't worth the same. I am so happy Hall finally hit his potential this season. Now we no longer have to live with devil ransoms to trade for second pairing D.

      TheRobloxMoose 1845 you couldn’t be more wrong hahaha. One of Nicos great assets is that he doesn’t cheat for offense and plays the game the right way. He’s relentless on the back check. On Halls OT goal against the Pens, he strips the puck off of Kessel and sends Hall on his way for the winner. You probably shouldnt make shrewd comments on players you dont watch. You come off as extremely ignorant

    • @HockeySoccerSniper
      @HockeySoccerSniper 6 лет назад +1

      Crazy how someone who admits they don't watch the devils can claim Nico is a bum and all offense based on highlights alone lmao, Nico is so good because of his fantastic two way game which don't show in highlights. As the other guy said you clearly know nothing about the devils or hockey in general, but I don't know what I expected from a guy with Roblox in their name

    As an Oilers fan, this hurts to see as you could only imagine how good Hall would be flanking McDavid's wing. But, I'm glad to see Hall having remarkable success. He's a true winner, which was exemplified by his back to back Mem cup MVP titles. Good on him, only wish him the best of luck moving forward. Thanks, Chiarelli.

      deonal I knew it was a stupid deal then, and I can't imagine anyone felt differently. I was extremely pissed that my Rangers didn't offer McDonough, which would have been enough to get him. All I can say is that the whole NHL is lucky that Hall is not playing on a line with McDavid. They'd each have at least 130 points by now!

    • @deonal
      @deonal 6 лет назад +6

      Edmonton brass were idiots in letting Chiarelli with this history of dealing Tyler Seguin from the Bruins and then letting him move Hall was insanity! McDonough is the better Dman too btw!

      @byronleemarley9610 6 лет назад +3

      deonal I couldn't believe what they traded Hall for, and I couldn't believe the Rangers didn't step up and offer McDonough. The Rangers NEVER trade for young superstars, only older ones. This would have been a win win for both teams, even though McDonough still shouldn't have been enough to get Hall. But the Oilers would have been better off with McDonough than what they got. I love watching all these great young players there are today. The league hasn't been this talented since the Gretzky, Lemieux era.

    • @Gambl0r
      @Gambl0r 6 лет назад +2

      Agreed. I'm an Edmontonian and I remember blasting Chia for this deal, while the vast majority of fans here ridiculed me for thinking the deal was a complete rip off. LIterallly everyone in those hf boards were so delusional they actually banned me because they didn't want to hear that Taylor Hall trade was the biggest oilers management mistake since the Gretzky trade.
      The fans here are pathetically delusional and two faced, the same fans that were applauding the deal, are the now the same fans that are blasting Chia for the trade. What a joke

    Hall. Earlier I had MacKinnon but the way Hall has put the whole NJ team on his shoulders is just amazing. Also comparing the point gap between Hall and the second highest scoring player on the Devils makes everything even more clear. MacKinnon have Rantaanen which trails him with 11 points and 2 other players whom has more points than the second highest scoring Devils player. For me its a clear cut that its Hall for the Hart.

  • @mry6458

    How can Mackinnon win the Hart when the second highest point scorer on his team has 82 points? Not saying Mackinnon isn’t valuable but he can’t be more valuable than Hall who’s 42 points ahead of the second highest point scorer on his team. There is nobody near the talent level of Hall on the Devils and he’s the true MVP.

    The other main criteria, besides making the playoffs, is not having another superstar on his team. That excludes Kucherov, Wheeler, Malkin, etc... The only 3 who honestly deserve it are MacKinnon, Hall and McDavid. If you only want playoff teams, then it's MacKinnon vs Hall. Good arguments can be made for both, and it should be really close. Their numbers are almost identical too. I see more of Hall, living in NY, but I've seen enough of MacKinnon to know he's just as deserving. So this Rangers fan picks...Hall or MacKinnon. Too close to call! 😀

      King85Kong Absolutely. The voters are very fickle and have ridiculous unofficial guidelines that they go by. It's not a player's fault if he carries his entire team, but still doesn't make the playoffs. The opposite is also true, that it's not his fault if he has other good players around him. It should still be pretty easy to tell which guy is the most valuable. Maybe they should change the voting. Have each team pick their own MVP, and then let the voters decide who's the best, regardless of what his team or teammates did or didn't accomplish.

  • @xRiguy
    @xRiguy 6 лет назад +2

    Poor McDavid, the award is for the most valuable player to their TEAM. McDavid is by far the most most important player to his team as he has more than double the points of the third highest scorer on the Oilers (RNH). Leads the team in +-, plays on both the power play and penalty kill. And has 20+ more even strength points than any other player in the league. He has a 6 point lead in the scoring race on a team will NO good wingers and no help offensively. He’s doing all of this on a bottom 25 team.
    But he won’t win because his goalie has the worst stats in the entire league plunging the team out of playoff contention (literally has a .899 3.78 GAA)

    • @Plutoboy85

      360flip19 That's an interesting way to look at it.
      Hall: 42 point difference between 2nd in points and 49 point difference between 3rd in points.
      MCDavid: 35 point difference with 2nd in points and 58 point difference between 3rd in points.
      Edmonton's depth is none existent. Well both teams lack depth.
      NJD top 5 in points: 93, 51, 44, 44, 35
      Edmonton top 5 in points: 103, 68, 45, 34, 33
      If you switch the two players McDavid goes to the playoffs and Hall is going golfing.
      Really does come down to the luck of the team you're on.
      Why I'm not a big fan of this award. To many artificial rules required to win it.

    McDavid should win. Best player in the NHL. If playoff determines if you can win it or not, then its a meaningless trophy. Best player in the league is obviously the most important to his team. If it is a requirement than it should be in writing. Only players on playoff teams are eligible to win the trophy. Make it black and white.

    Why no mention of Kopitar? No Carter for the entire season. Leads the NHL in PK ice time. Guy is a work horse. All that and he has 91 points. He's better than those two clowns who don't play both ends of the ice.
    Kopitar > MacKinnon > Hall

    Keep in mind that MacKinnon played two weeks less... and still finished higher in points.

    To me Mackinnon wins based off of points per game and team improvement. Hall is a great player no doubt but Mackinnon is responsible for pulling Colorado out of the basement.

      El Fuego 52 The only 3 real MVPs to their teams are McDavid, MacKinnon and Hall. Everyone else has help. Otherwise there would be 10 or more viable candidates who've had great seasons.

      Hischier is actually INSANELY good, yeah he's not an elite player yet, but he'll probably be there soon. I'm a devs fan and I think Mac should win it

    • @byronleemarley9610

      Daniel Olivette They both deserve it. Maybe they'll be co-MVPs. And you're right, he is insanely good, and will only get better with age. The Devils are set for years. Now maybe the Rangers can get a Laine to skate with Zibanejad. He's really our only possible star right now if he stays healthy for a full season. Until then, I'm still rooting for the Devs and Jets to play in the Finals. That would be an awesome matchup.

  • @SluggerStark
    @SluggerStark 6 лет назад +4

    I still think this "making the playoffs to win it" is the biggest load of bull dung. It isn't a playoff award. Plus, no one player individually "drags their team to the playoffs" like alot of so called experts say. If Mackinnon misses the playoffs by 2 points, all of a sudden he is out of contention?! Come one guys....that is not logical at all.

    • @rshackleford88
      @rshackleford88 6 лет назад +2

      Exactly, this isn't basketball. One player can't carry a team over 82 games. McDavid is the best player in the NHL and it isn't all that close.

    • @SluggerStark
      @SluggerStark 6 лет назад

      Rusty Shackleford Not close at all. The two bog dogs the past decade have been Ovi and Sid; Connor blew away both their regular season 5v5 points this year. If the Oilers had even a halfway decent powerplay, he would have 120+ points right now and there would noy even be a discussion about this. Playoffs or not.

      Still have yet to hear anyone explain how the best player in the league isn't the most valuable to his team. Would love to hear it. The Hart trophy is tainted in my opinion.

    • @IcePlays
      @IcePlays 6 лет назад

      Well I take it as for a player to be valuable to his team, he must add value, and without making the playoffs a team has little value.

    • @Plutoboy85
      @Plutoboy85 6 лет назад +1

      Ice So the best player in the entire league doesn't add value to his team? That doesn't make sense. Hockey is a team sport, no one player can make the playoffs by themselves. To suggest otherwise is delusional. Even the best players only play 20-30 minutes a game. So they are not involved with the play for half the game. Must count on others to do their job.
