There is a reason he’s also known as the Mac Truck. Dude is all power and speed, plows through effortlessly when he can’t go around. Feels like the quintessential hockey player of his group. Passion, skill, strength and power; takes no crap and is a great fighter to boot.
MacKinnon is an absolute force of nature; undoubtedly one of the best forwards of the 2020’s. If he played on the East Coast or for a Canadian team, he would have a lot more visibility than he does in Colorado. Regardless, he’s a top five most valuable Forward in the whole league, for sure.
The problem is that he couldn't win a cup in a Canadian team . He has one and the Avs have the potential to win more cups. I'm glad he plays for the Avalanche . Denver has always been a hockey city
If I'm a GM choosing one player to build a team around it's Mackinnon. He's not McDavid but the difference is that McDavid can carry a team offensively, Mackinnon can drive the bus and bring the whole team with him. Mackinnon is the only elite power forward in the game today. McDavid has elite finish and elite speed that has Mackinnon edged out but Mack has a grit and a fire that McDavid just doesn't have.
Last night's game nearly brought a tear to my eye. I have watched his OT winner like 10 times now. That shit is just unreal, and the comeback the Avs were able to mount is insane. If Georgiev can get back in form like he was last year, we stop making bad turn overs at the net, and we get Lehkonnen back, this team will be dangerous.
The guy is the perfect blend of newschool and oldschool hockey Increadibly skilled, one of the fastest and skilled skaters ever but still willing to play physical, is capable of absorbing a hit and has that DAWG in him What a joy to watch. Allost videogame-esque
Amazing analysis, thanks for these types of videos! I've generally been a pretty passive spectator, so It's cool to watch games, understanding how so much of the players movements are intentional and not purely just reacting.
That was dime from the wing. Also. Those Nordiques throwbacks are dope. I got a sweet hoodie like that a few years back. So nice that My kid glommed it. Guess which player name came already stitched on ?
I think the best summation is he just doesn’t play cute hockey. More like prime Sakic and Modano than any modern guys. And he has that insane extra gear. I go to a lot of Av’s games and it’s astonishing to watch his speed in person. And his skates are always the loudest ones on the ice.
I’ve been saying this for so long seeing it in a video is amazing, all the hype has been on mcdavid and Mackinnon has silently been the best all around player in hockey. As a pens fan watching him play is as entertaining as watching Sid. Incredible talent
MacK in his prime is a force of nature, and he really deserves to win a Hart before he hangs them up. My only concern as an Avs fan is what he looks like when he passes his physical prime. His work ethic and hunger should keep him going longer than most, but Father Time catches everyone. Will he be able to adapt his game once those gallops and crossovers don't get him the separation they do now? I hope so.
Should be interesting to see how the physical side of his game carries into the playoffs. Running over guys like Emberson is fun to watch, but dishing out additional offensive-side big hits takes its toll. Come post season, defenders will take that trade every time to separate MacKinnon from the puck and let the bodies collide, even if they end up getting the worst of it. Everyone shifts it up into another gear come the post season, especially when it comes to physical play. It's hard to even imagine MacKinnon has another gear, it almost feels like he's playing post season hockey while the rest of the league is keeping some in the tank for the rest of the schedule. If he does still have another gear, it could be a historic performance.
Watching recent highlights , when he's in full flight it seems the opponents don't want to challenge him so they stay out of his way . I think if he was to have a reason to get even , he would destroy you somewhere in the game . Truly a beast ...... you DO NOT f with .
Mackinnon reminds me so much of Mark Messier in so many ways: big, strong and not afraid to use that size and strength, superior skater, great shot and vision.

I knew he was special and have rooted for him since
Get this man an MVP!!
As an avs fan, it's annoyed me over the past couple years that McDavid and draisatl are at the front of every hockey conversation but Mackinnon and also rantanen rarely get mentioned. I'm glad somebody out there recognizes how good he is. The avs would be the undisputed best team in the league if they had a better goalie
Mackinnon is definitely second
@@Chewbachi mcdoodle hasn’t won shit !! Lmao get a cup first then talk
@@natthaphonnoble7946😂😂 mcdavo clears mackinnon and its not even remotely close. And ur only argument is mackinnon has a cup this is whos the better player not Whos got the better team😂😂 delete ur comment u goof
awesome video. Mackinnon is such a force out there.
Mackinnon is just build different…
Great video. Loved the footage of Hubey and the speed comparison. HAdn't thought of that before!
What an absolute UNIT.
Denver has always been a hockey city
this is an awesome video! great analysis, he’s super fun to watch but i’ve never thought about it this analytically
Agreed. He would be my pick to build a team around also. The grit he has in combo with his elite talent is unmatched.
Taking mcdavo all day everyday and its not even close…
Last night's game nearly brought a tear to my eye. I have watched his OT winner like 10 times now. That shit is just unreal, and the comeback the Avs were able to mount is insane. If Georgiev can get back in form like he was last year, we stop making bad turn overs at the net, and we get Lehkonnen back, this team will be dangerous.
The guy is the perfect blend of newschool and oldschool hockey
Increadibly skilled, one of the fastest and skilled skaters ever but still willing to play physical, is capable of absorbing a hit and has that DAWG in him
What a joy to watch. Allost videogame-esque
My favourite nhl player by far!!! He’s unstoppable
years of hate behind the puck had me laughing
Amazing analysis, thanks for these types of videos! I've generally been a pretty passive spectator, so It's cool to watch games, understanding how so much of the players movements are intentional and not purely just reacting.
GIVE THE MAN A FUCKING HART
this year is the calmest I've seen him and hes still playing with the most intensity as well.
That was dime from the wing.
Also. Those Nordiques throwbacks are dope. I got a sweet hoodie like that a few years back. So nice that My kid glommed it. Guess which player name came already stitched on ?
Forsberg with Bure's skating
The chirp after the hit was 🥶
God i love the Avalanche. Nathan MacKinnnon is next level.
I think the best summation is he just doesn’t play cute hockey. More like prime Sakic and Modano than any modern guys.
And he has that insane extra gear. I go to a lot of Av’s games and it’s astonishing to watch his speed in person. And his skates are always the loudest ones on the ice.
The guy is such a beast. Great breakdown
He is my favorite & I'm a Bruins fan 😂
I always respected the Bruins as an Avs fan. Only Boston sports team I can stand lol.
I’ve been saying this for so long seeing it in a video is amazing, all the hype has been on mcdavid and Mackinnon has silently been the best all around player in hockey. As a pens fan watching him play is as entertaining as watching Sid. Incredible talent
Love our MacK. He's a beast.
I hope so.
He and McDavid are on another level and so entertaining to watch
Mac Attack is Back Baby!!
McKinnon plays the way prime Ovi would play, he’ll blow by you or through you, and the pucks in the net before the goalie can blink
Ur breakdowns are amazing man.
This is a great video, thank you for making it.
Please break down what is making Winnipeg so successful your the best at helping me understand what makes team successful keep it up love the content
I’m glad somebody went indepth about the absolute wagon that is MacKinnon
By far the most exciting player to watch when he gets the puck.
Great breakdown. Mac is a force and the Mac-Moose combo is the best in hockey right now.
Watching recent highlights , when he's in full flight it seems the opponents don't want to challenge
him so they stay out of his way . I think if he was to have a reason to get even , he would destroy
you somewhere in the game . Truly a beast ...... you DO NOT f with .
Mackinnon reminds me so much of Mark Messier in so many ways: big, strong and not afraid to use that size and strength, superior skater, great shot and vision.
