Lol nah you will get a better deal on discs and you can install and uninstall games that take up space and play new ones less than 30 minutes vs digital can take up too 2 hours
@@brenegadde1278 I don't know what kind of internet you have but I can download and install a game like Returnal in 20 minutes. But if you have sucky internet then obviously you should get the disc version.
I would rather get the physical edition because it still doesn't restrict you from buying digital copies. I see it as something that i can do 50/50 of the time. For example: for some games, i would rather get an physical disc for it and for some others on digital. I trust having it digitally but not entirely because what if something happens and it bugs out and i lose my purchase somehow? it will be gone and to get back i'll have to go through support which i don't wanna do. That's where the physical copies save me and geniunely i like having it in my hand. Entirely digital isn't bad though, i'd just rather do 50/50 on things. I buy digital and physical, but more digital games thoughm as of now.
Disc version is also targeting customers with bad internet. Giving the size os modern games, it is faster getting the game from disc rather than spend hours downloading it with slow internet connection. Oh, disc version is also for those who still wants to play their PS4 physical games (considering that we are in transition of console generations, this is something to care about). And there is also rumors (I said rumors) that Sony may someday add PS3 and PS2 retrocompatibility (through emulation or something like that), enabling the reading of old PS' games discs. But if nothing above convinces you, yeah, get the digital version.
@@Neostream PS NOW is different than retrocompatibility. PS NOW is a service which you have to pay to play, while retrocompatibility is the possibility of playing your old disc games in newer hardware.
@@diegoorenstein4575 I would love to play the OG GTA (PS1) on the newer system.. or maybe it’s GTA ll 🤷♂️.. loved that game. Also want to play RDR1, I haven’t played that at all.
Lol yo when I lucked out and got my PS5 at launch I was all like “No way these will still be hard to get by January” … But I believe in you! You will find one! Thanks for watching my video and commenting!
I went for the digital version. In my younger days I would want to collect physical games for PS1, PS2 and PS3, but now I prefer owing less and having a digital console helps a lot. Plus all your game purchases are tied to your account so you can re download them when the PS6 comes out etc..
I bought the digital version but Walmart decided to still send me the disc version as a free upgrade because they ran out of the digital ps5 version! 😂😂😂
@@e.l.4860 No bro lol, it doesnt have any difference… like at all, you dont lose nothing except the disc, me personally during my ps4 career i never had one disc game all my games were prom the ps store. plus having the games in ur console u can switch between em without moving, you can’t lose with either because… they are the exaxt same console 😂 hope u get your hands on one its amazing.
Thanks for the video! Just to add that you can share the game license digitally with friends, just like u can share a disk. I think it's a 50:50 thing. None is better than the other. It all depends on your internet connection and preference. Also note that with disks, there's there risk of you buying cheaper but not working or bad disk (happened to me). That's if the disks are not properly maintained. With the digital version, if you are tired of the game, you can delete it and still download it anytime in the future since you own the license. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still new to PS, and with a plus subscription, and store discounts, i do everything digital. I'm also a casual gamer.
I'm thinking of getting a PS5 soon but I've been on the fence about what kind I want to get. As much as I enjoy owning a physical disc with a case; between a toddler and a new puppy at home who get into everything, plus trying to declutter, I'm leaning more toward the digital version. Thanks for the insight (especially about the storage myth).
You are right the digital makes less noise, is cheaper, etc. But in the long run you save more money by buying the disk version. Stores have better deals on games, you can sale old games and use the money to buy new ones and so on. So at the end it’s all about convenience versus saving my money.🤷🏻
My biggest reason at the time buying PS5 with disc drive was actually physical 4K Ultra HD movies. Not really the games. 4K streaming services can't even beat quality of physical blu-ray movies at the moment.
Thank you!!!! You were 100% right this entire video. There's so much misinformation being spread that it confuses people when they are deciding. Especially the fact that people are still confused about being required to install the entire game, and that goes for both the disc and digital versions of games.
Same here buddy. I got the disc version purely because It was the first thing I could see and clicked on 🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️. And yeah... the disc drive is crazy loud. 100% agree with this! 🔥
The disc version is the same as the digital but with the addition of a disc drive, you can still buy digital games for the disc version but you have more options, the digital version has no advantage other than the initial price difference.
@@FornaTRON You said the digital one is better, which is not true. We are talking about consoles. You also said there is no advantage for discs, which is a straight up lie. They are cheaper, you can resell them and also give them to a friend. Also there are already some games missing on psn like metal slug anthology and deadpool
having an optimal drive allows you to purchase discount games from places like gamestop. It would definitely save you over $100 giving that the PS digital store almost never give us discount games.
@@CuttyFlamLtd true, PSN has 10-15 games on 40% off rotations monthly but that’s nothing compared to disc sales. If you’re an active player the disc version still gonna save you hundreds during it’s life span.
I’m going full digital with the PS5. I’m already fully digital on PS4. The last games I bought physically were Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and I regret it. A disc drive serves no purpose for me. All of the content I watch is on subscription services *(Netflix/Hulu/Crunchyroll etc.),* and if I want to watch any old physical movies that I have, I still have my PS3 Slim and PS4. Not to mention, Sony clearly designed the PS5 Digital Edition first, which is why it has the superior design of the two twins. I will say though, Sony is getting their ass kicked by Microsoft when it comes to back catalogue accessibility. If they are shutting down the PS3/PSP/Vita PS Stores, then they need to mediate that loss with a better answer than PS Now.
For me, the digital is the best choice, I only ever had digital games on my PS4 so I can transfer them straight over, i love my digital ps5, it's a great choice
@@Allisori oh ok I get ur point then use a digital version if you don’t use disks. I just wanted to ask though if you get a disc version of the ps5 can you still download digital versions of games or is it only just physical copies
I’ve had my PS5 Digital Edition since launch and it’s been amazing. Haven’t bought a physical game since The Division in 2016, so there was no need for me to spend the extra $100 on tbe disc version. Also have the Series X and it’s awesome as well.
It’s so much better to have the disc version! When you pay $100 extra but get games at cut throat pricing on eBay or Facebook marketplace. Do yourself a favor and get the disc version! I mean heck, I just snagged several $60 games for $15 on marketplace. When you’re digital only you have to wait for sales or pay retail, gross.
Well it all depends on how you used your PS4 if your thinking about upgrading it all comes down to how did you play your games digitally or disc. If people played on their PS4 on disc the PS5 disc version will save you money not having to buy the games digitally again. However, if you did play your games digitally via PlayStation store then the PS5 digital version is the one for you via PS4 transfer to PS5. For me personally, I played my games through disc, so in order to save money I bought the disc version to make it an easy transfer not having to buy the game again. Even though I have a disc version I recommend the digital version but again it all depends on how you used your PS4.
Dude I like PANIC’d bought my PS5 because I couldn’t believe I found one available on this random ass drug stores website! You couldn’t navigate to the page through the website you had to Google (store name) PS5 and then click on that link and BOOM I had a PS5 during launch week. I had no idea both consoles would still be sold out to this day!
@@FornaTRON oh damn that’s crazy! I bought it through Target and wasn’t even planning to on that day. I just woke up and saw a video on RUclips and I was able to get it thankfully!
The digital one is harder to get because it’s the cheaper one that most people are going for. But physical is still better because say you bought a game you didn’t like. You could just trade it in or sell it. With digital you are just stuck with it.
I’ll never own an all-digital console as long as I have the choice. There is literally zero benefit aside from the cheaper initial cost of the console itself. I also don’t like the idea of being at the mercy of whatever they decide to charge on the PS Store. You can never resell games, never borrow them, rent them, or find them for dirt cheap on eBay or other marketplaces. More personally I also enjoy the physicality of cracking open a case and swapping discs. And seeing my collection grow on my shelf. I have over 500 physical games from the NES to the PS5 and every major console in between. To all the people claiming things like not having to swap the disc or no disc drive producing heat or anything else along those lines is a benefit to buying a digital-only console, I think you are forgetting you can still buy games digitally with a disc PS5. So those things are not benefits to buying a digital console, those are benefits of buying a digital game. There’s a difference there and the benefits of buying a game digitally is not what this discussion is about. We’re talking about the console itself. The disc PS5 can do everything the digital PS5 can, only you have additional choices. So yes, there is literally zero benefit to a digital PS5 other than lower initial cost.
I already had a Xbox Series X and thought I would never be able to get a PS5 and then Sony emailed an invite to buy a PS5 on Playstation Direct. I thought it was a joke so I bought the Digital version just to see what happens. Now I have both consoles.
Good video. I had originally purchased the disc version of the Ps5 through Walmart back in December. Then as soon as Best Buy dropped in early March I finally was able to purchase the digital version. Sold the disc and kept the digital. Couldn’t be happier.
@@ghostlegit Aesthetically pleasing. I like the look better and there was no reason to have a disk version. I've haven't owned disks since the mid 2000's. Nothing wrong with disks. My parents are in their 60's and they love and collect disks since the early 80's whether it's movies, music and now games. It's all personal preference. To each their own.
The only benefit I can think of is similar to the example you gave if you buy a game and you don't like it you cannot return it nor can you buy a used one for $29 you're always stuck paying the $59 price tag so if you buy three games in a year you just ended up paying price of the disc version. Year 2 comes around and there's some games you couldn't afford during the first year now you're forced to pay full price now you're actually paying more by year three depending on how many games you buy yearly now you're just losing money left and right. Also you can beat certain games in a week if you're not a completionist and have to get every single thing to 100% And with the disc version at least you can get half your money back where owning the digital version that's a wrap you just paid full price for a game Beat It in 6 days and you can't even get $30 back for it so that's the only downsides I'm seeing and those kind of now that I'm thinking of it cuz I'm going to get mine today I actually had the disc one in my hand 3 hours ago and tried to hold out until tomorrow they told me the digital version would be in stock but the more I think about it you've got to think about long run 3 years down the line you will end up paying more owning the digital version.
Digital version saves u money cuz it makes u buy the games u actually want due to the price of the game and maybe not on sale. And not buy a game cuz it was on sale
I had people stealing my physical game discs when I did have the original PS5 disk version. I’ve recently got the digital slim, had to sell the old one early last year, but happy I can now store all my games digitally without the worry of someone stealing it. Probably the easiest way to go for me.
I'd prefer the digital version since I've been buying my games digitally almost exclusively for the past couple of years. Problem is though, I've bought so many physical games before that, for example, Red Dead 2 Special Holy Shit Edition with the two discs and the map etc, and it would suck if I couldn't play that with slightly upgraded rendering etc. I'm stuck.
still rather have freedom of choice in games. If i finish a game and want to sell it? easy. A store is having a sale on a game ive been wanting? easy. A friend want to lend me his game? easy. Im not one to be tied down to the playstation store. I just cant
My exact same thinking right now as I'm getting more serious at getting a PS5. I'd actually like to get the digital edition, but I have like 3 discs from PS4 that I'd love to play on PS5, including RDR2.
Got the disc version because I have a lot of PS4 games on disc and I still want to be able to play them on my PS5 Also, if you buy PS5 games on disc you almost always save at least 10 bucks. I mostly get my games digital now, but it's nice to have both options.
I’m glad they have a disc version. I download digitally mostly anyway but sometimes I want to watch a blue ray movie. Not all movies are on Netflix, Hulu, etc. example John Wick etc.
Good video! I got the digital version. I play a few games and I don't need disc drive to exchange them with friends + my ps5 is mounted on the law behind the tv and the smaller width is important for me. So the digital version is perfect for me.
In terms of being cheaper, the disc version will be cheaper in the long run depending on how many games you buy. After a year, I’ve already saved more money on physical purchases than digital purchases. For people that are only buying a couple games throughout the entire generation, that won’t matter to them. And in my experience, the only time you can hear the console is when you initially install it, or booting it up. It is silent during actual gameplay. Maybe that will change as developers make more demanding games, so we’ll see. Both sides have their advantages and disadvantages, and while I would like to say I’m a physical collector because I have 250 games on disc/cartridge, I have well over 400 digital games because of ps plus, insanely good deals, and games being digital only. Point is, get whatever one you feel you’ll want.
I'm the weird one here, I buy the disc version, then buy all games digitally, and at the end of the console lifecycle I recap which are the games worth having physically and I buy them second hand. I did it for some past generations as well, but I always end up buying something like 5 games, really only the ones that I enjoyed the most.
6:10 thank you! That’s something that even big media outlets still use as a knock against the all digital PS5 and Xbox Series S and it drives me crazy whenever I see them say that lol
@@FornaTRON i choose digital too. but this video didn't mentioned about used disc game which often sold cheap, that's one advantage and reason some people choose disc version. but to be fair, digital version also get discount/sale too if it's old enough on the market.

I personally prefer the disc edition since I still have a lot of physical disc's whether it's a game or movie. Now that goes without saying my ps5 slim was originally the digital version but received the disc drive yesterday so I can still watch my movies and play my physical game copies. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to consoles and I completely respect that.
I usually only buy the game physically if I'm really excited for it. But I still got the disc edition. Assuming price isn't a factor, there's no reason not to
The digital editions are EXTREMLY hard to get a hold of due to their lower price. The disc versions are STILL hard to get ... but not AS hard lol. Thanks for watching my video yo! And thanks for commenting! I APPRECIATE YOU!!!
Digital: You don't have to keep finding disc's if you loose them or spend more times just to get a disc into it, Me having the digital PS5 and my friend has a disc version, The Digital us the one I would mostly recommend
I like the digital PS5, the only thing that sucks is the return policy on games. I think that needs to be improved on Sony’s end. Thanks for watching my video!
Correction: the Wii U was the last disc-based console to read its games in real time from disc. Also I like discs because of the fact that digital storefronts aren’t forever. Games get delisted all the time. When I purchase a game, I want to be able to access it and resell it on my own terms, not Sony’s. Additionally, deeper discounts tend to occur with physical games, even on day of launch, depending on the retailer. Digital definitely has its perks but until it consoles match what’s on offer with Steam’s major discounts, I’ll always prefer disc media.
The only thing to me is I feel games are more expensive on ps store but say game stop could have a game for like 30 bucks cheaper since the game has been out for a while
Best part is after you pass a game you can sell it give it to a friend or borrow a game for that one..if you buy the physical copy all your buds can play from it and save money
Great response man. My gaming laptop is also 1080p HDR. Nothing wrong with that if you are sitting up super close and your comments about most of the new gen games running at 4K 30fps on both is valid. When you had first bought your monitor you had mentioned that "none of the games run at 4K 60" on your PS5 and I had mistakenly assumed you meant even previous gen games. If it is running PS4 games at 4K 60 then I fully respect that evens the playing field a lot. And my main reasons for going Xbox are definitely more the other stuff you talked about. It lines up more with the games I actually play, I hard prefer the controller, and it gives me a wicked value with Gamepass which also adds to my PC Gaming library. I want both consoles to be good though. I like games not brands.
@@user-kh1ro6wv3t Yeah the optical drive can be loud especially for Blu-rays starting up but is usually fine after a short while. As for the fan, basically what happens is every 30-60 minutes OR when you’re like using a streaming app, the fan’ll fire up fully for a few seconds and then return to normal. If I’m honest I think the Series X is completely silent but either way it’s a giant improvement from the Harrier Jet of the PS4 constantly threatening a vertical takeoff.
If you want a 4k Blu-ray player for 4k Blu-ray movies, the ps5 is the best deal you can get. It's essentially $100 for a $200 Blu-ray player, something I wanted to have.
I always get off work and am like “I’m gonna make a new video” then I get distracted and then get started on it at like 10pm PST and then edit and upload and just release it right away... I used to schedule the release for the following morning... but meh. Hahaha thanks for watching as always bro!
I got disc version because if someone wants to gift you a game which is physical doesn’t stop you from using disc games but that’s my point the disc version is more versatile it can play both digital and disc and blu ray
I was just debating buying Elden ring digital version and you just convinced me lol. I like my disc version though because I can play my PS4 games on it. If I owned them digitally I wouldn’t prefer the disc version though. I tend to agree I like the overall compactness and quietness of the digital version and no disc drive is one less part that could die
You can still install a game straight from the disc without an internet connection and still play it. You can't reinstall a digital game without an internet connection it just won't work. And also an advantage that physical games have over digital is the fact when you have a lot of games in your game library on your console sometimes it's a lot easier and quicker just to grab the game from your shelf pop it in and play it instead of having to scroll through a library of hundreds of games just to boot up and play a certain one in particular. But that's judging if you keep your physical collection well organized. Besides there's a strong chance that digital-only consoles can become useless in the future where on the other hand standard units will still be thriving. Also where I have to disagree with you is that is the fact that I highly advise people to steer clear of buying a digital-only console because not only will it not be able to play your backwards compatible physical disc it lacks the ability to play blu-rays and DVDs you can't buy pre-owned games you can't pick up physical copies from Walmart or GameStop your only option to save money on games has to wait for system you can't buy games form the system storefront install or reinstall your games if the internet is down. So that means unless you have games installed already or the system servers are having heavy traffic and is overloaded or if the power's out in your running off of a generator in that case the internet's going to be down anyway I live in south Louisiana I we get hurricanes I know all about the all situations. But if things like that happen and you have a digital-only console you can forget about installing or reinstalling anything. So far all the people that are saying that physical media is obsolete you don't know what you're talking about. I challenge you go ahead and try to use a streaming service when the internet is out and then tell me how well that goes for you.
I went disc version for PS5 and Xbox Series. The disc drive on PS5 is definitely louder. Main reason for choosing disc was if games go to £/$70 each disc, these are often more expensive on the store so I’d prefer to trade-in games once I’m done whereas with digital purchases do not have a trade-in value... maybe this is something that could be looked into by Xbox/Sony in the future to get Store credits but remove games from your games library 🤷🏻♂️
I again forgot about trading in games! I wish there was some way to earn digital credit. Like for every few months you earn enough credit to get one game on the PlayStation store 🤔.
@@FornaTRON You can earn digital credits on Xbox by completing Xbox Game Pass challenges and completing tasks on Microsoft Rewards app... just saying!!
I for one love the digital version because I don't like getting up changing discs all the time. AND the good thing about it is that I always buy a 1TB Hard Drive to save all my games on I just love adding extra space.
EXACT SAME FOR ME!!! Lol I gave away my PS4 and all my disc games. I was lucky because the games I gave away that I still wanted were on sale at the time so I got the digital version cheap!
Just got a ps5 I wanted disc versions cause I wanted to be able to watch my 4k movies collection on it. I think the extra $100 buck is differently worth it if you don't already own 4k player which run between $150-$800 .
Speaking as one of the "casual gamers" you reference, this is a really helpful video. You make it clear that you prefer digital, and why, but give a balanced argument for disc, too. But then I caught your August post on the five reason why you MUST buy a disc version. So what happened? Did you change your mind?
People comment to me all the time that you can’t get digital games on sale and it’s just not true. You just gotta add games to your wish list and keep checking and they all go on huge sales! You can get digital games for cheap! But I do admit there are more purchasing options for disc games and the used market etc etc.
I will get a disc since we still own a lot of blueray and watch them like harry potter, lord of the rings and some classic ones. Also i think digital version restricting yourself to ps5 full potential to play old games (ps4) watch movies. so i think with just 100$ you will have a bunch of extra's that Digital cannot offer.
The only reason I'd go with disk is because I usually buy games second hand if it is a few years old since they're usually still £40-£60 on console stores instead of £10-£20 on eBay or amazon
For people that love owning physical copies you are literally paying for the box and the box art. All the disk contains is the license. It is still just installing the digital version you just have to have the disconcerted to verify you own the game. There is no rule against owning a game owning a game digitally and then if you still want a box to display you can buy the box off of eBay or something or even by the physical game with the disc if you want to just to have it to collect
@@liammiller9296 Origins to me is the best out of the newer games and I loved the Egyptian setting and era it looks stunning and Bayek was a solid protagonist. AC III is another game I like in the franchise it's party due to it being the first one I played it was my starting point and made me interested in the rest of the franchise. It has its flats but I do like the game combat feels brutal, I liked the dynamic between Conor and Haytham and I liked Boston as a setting for the open world combined with the homestead and native American woodlands. Naval combat I wasn't fond of but in odyssey it's a lot better and that game is also beautiful and it overall is a solid game I can see why you like it.
Disc is much better. You can buy games on sale for much cheaper than they are on the PS Store, including used games in “like new condition”. You can let your friends borrow your games or vice versa. You can watch blu ray discs. In the end, if you want the “digital ps5 experience” you could still get a disc version and only download digital games whereas you don’t have the option to do both with the digital only version
He forgot the main reason for owning a physical copy of the game. The option to resell or lend to friends and family. Originally the appeal to going digital was the cost was suppose to cut out all the distribution and shipping. But nope, the developers are selling the digital copies for the exact same price as the disc versions 🤔. Until they address this, disc copies stil have greater value than digital. 🤗
I think there is a RUclips channel dedicated to just rating 4K bluray players and rated the PS5 one very highly over the Xbox Series X. So it’s a good option if you have a lot of physical media!
there is no advantage the digital version has over the disk version period!!!!!!! dont be so stupid if they were both the same price you would pick the disk version every time
That’s why it’s $100 cheaper? That is a big advantage to a lot of people! I’m glad there are 2 options available for people who like having physical copies of games / movies and an all digital version for those who don’t!
Truthfully my 💿 version makes no sound it's so quiet honestly even when downloading games. The reason I choose disc because I like the physical copy especially when trading them in for credit even though you don't always get a lot but every penny counts when saving money from new games that cost $70 but does the digital stop playing games if your internet stops
Disc is the wisest decision because the PS store is so crazy expensive. If I buy just 3 used games, it's already paid itself off. PS store has everything at full price all the time. Fb Marketplace I buy my games for $15-60 all in
still rather have freedom of choice in games. If i finish a game and want to sell it? easy. A store is having a sale on a game ive been wanting? easy. A friend want to lend me his game? easy. Im not one to be tied down to the playstation store. I just cant
Nobody thought that physical games and cases would be valuable but time has shown us that at some point it could become a commodity. Another thing to consider. Preference and affordability are the deciding factors.
Returnal on PlayStation store: €79,95. Cheapest physical copy at the moment which I can find: €49,90. I know quite a few owners of digital PS5s who are totally pissed due to this ass backwards pricing of digital games. Thank GOD I didn't jump on bandwagon of "glorious" all digital future with PS5! People, hang on to your rights and keep your options open. You will thank yourself later. How the things are right now and the direction where things seems to be heading simply sucks: less consumer rights and higher prices. That's the "all digital future" right now.
Good video, another thing u could have mentioned is that even if people like playing old games, by the time Sony kills the ps5 store there will probably be a lot of emulators for the ps5 like there are for the psp rn
I’m personally going with the digital version because I live and Germany and the PX can be a hit or miss with games over here. Plus my old is4 couldn’t read disk so I just used to digital downloads. GameStop exist here but trading a US game doesn’t make sense especially since I don’t want the German games. So it’s diskless for me
Good points, however, you are wrong about both the Xbox games' resolution. There are plenty of games that run native 4K at 60fps, including Forza Horizon 5. Doom Eternal even runs 1800p (which is basically 4K) at 120fps. Your phone camera also looks much sharper than your regular camera, but because you have a 1080p monitor you probably don't notice the difference.
You're right, the digital only people are the majority. And the majority of people are idiots. You keep apologizing to the disc people and are only validating the reasons why discs are superior.
I am more making the case that there is a purpose for both. And I’m just happy that people are able to get the console they want and enjoy it! Thanks for watching my video and commenting!!! It means a lot!
I seriously don’t understand that blatantly untrue argument of the PlayStation Store not putting games on sale quickly, when the PlayStation Store literally has sales every week. There is actually a sale happening right now lol!
You serious lol... 20 isn't that much better. You'll be downloading your digital games for hours. PS5 games are like 50 to 100 gb. Get the disc version & buy physical games. They cost the same & you won't be wasting hours to download a game.
There are almost no advantages for digital. Disc allows you to sell or trade in games. Also you can buy games for cheaper. Plus 4k. You'd be silly to buy digital because its quieter 🤦♂️
To you and some others that’s silly. But some people really care about that $100 cheaper price tag. It’s cool that you have a preference! And I hope you got a PS5 disc version! But don’t call people silly for their preferences!
Thanks for the video .. so like you sad .. digital and disc game will still require the same amount of space uses to install the game right? And the dice running during the game pretty much useless right?
You still require the disc to be inserted into the drive to run the game for DRM verification. This is to ensure you still own the game and didn't just install it and give the disc away or sell it. Otherwise people would just buy a game, install it and return it. So if you play LOTS of games at once, this becomes kind of a hassle because you have to switch discs whenever you want to play a different game. Whereas with digital you can just quit the app and open a new game almost instantly.
I bought my son a digital one , he was like nobody buying disc anymore Mom that’s old 😂

@@brenegadde1278 I don't know what kind of internet you have but I can download and install a game like Returnal in 20 minutes. But if you have sucky internet then obviously you should get the disc version.
@@FornaTRON Totally agree I have the ps5 digital and it downloads games fast, faster then when I had series x and it was also plugged with Ethernet !

If I get the disc version can I still get the games digitally?
Disc version is also targeting customers with bad internet. Giving the size os modern games, it is faster getting the game from disc rather than spend hours downloading it with slow internet connection. Oh, disc version is also for those who still wants to play their PS4 physical games (considering that we are in transition of console generations, this is something to care about). And there is also rumors (I said rumors) that Sony may someday add PS3 and PS2 retrocompatibility (through emulation or something like that), enabling the reading of old PS' games discs. But if nothing above convinces you, yeah, get the digital version.
In some countries, we already have that technology, it's called PS Now
@@Neostream PS NOW is different than retrocompatibility. PS NOW is a service which you have to pay to play, while retrocompatibility is the possibility of playing your old disc games in newer hardware.

Yeah I just wanted to play games I have in disc and watch DVD’s so I got the disc
you mean BluRay disc right, which play 4K HDR and those fancy stuff? DVD is so old, it's PS2 era movie entertainment.
Thank you!!!! You were 100% right this entire video. There's so much misinformation being spread that it confuses people when they are deciding. Especially the fact that people are still confused about being required to install the entire game, and that goes for both the disc and digital versions of games.
I am still shocked at how many people think they are “saving space” by having the disc version of the game.

Is it loud when using the disc or even when playing digital versions?
The disc version is the same as the digital but with the addition of a disc drive, you can still buy digital games for the disc version but you have more options, the digital version has no advantage other than the initial price difference.

LMFAOOO!! right, fucking useless and what if the disc breaks or gets stolen xDD
This is why physical games aren't _as_ worth it now. At this point, your just buying a disc drive for DVDs
Right about that cuz gmaepass is awesome !

That’s awesome! I’m pumped for you!

I want the digital cause it looks sexier. I do have a Series X for playing Criterion blu ray discs
I'm stuck.

That's what I don't get they're making it seem as if you can't use the disc version as a digital he's confusing as hell
That’s awesome! Nice to have it tucked away!
Great

I'm the weird one here, I buy the disc version, then buy all games digitally, and at the end of the console lifecycle I recap which are the games worth having physically and I buy them second hand. I did it for some past generations as well, but I always end up buying something like 5 games, really only the ones that I enjoyed the most.
Samething here i bought the disc one but i buy all the games

Digital: You don't have to keep finding disc's if you loose them or spend more times just to get a disc into it, Me having the digital PS5 and my friend has a disc version, The Digital us the one I would mostly recommend
I like the digital PS5, the only thing that sucks is the return policy on games. I think that needs to be improved on Sony’s end. Thanks for watching my video!
This video is both informational and hilarious…thank you for the insight, I definitely needed it!!!😂😂😂😂…the ending had me rolling.
Sounds like you know which one you want!

Is it loud when you turn it on?
@@user-kh1ro6wv3t
Yeah the optical drive can be loud especially for Blu-rays starting up but is usually fine after a short while.

Speaking as one of the "casual gamers" you reference, this is a really helpful video. You make it clear that you prefer digital, and why, but give a balanced argument for disc, too. But then I caught your August post on the five reason why you MUST buy a disc version. So what happened? Did you change your mind?
I made videos for both sides. That way you can make the decision for whats best for you.
keep buying digital everyone. Since the demand for disc game will decrease disc games will be alot cheaper than ps4.
Agreed …
I bought the digital version on Walmart and got a free upgrade to the disk so I saved 100 bucks
THAT IS INSANE! A friend just showed that to me too! Enjoy that win!!!!! I’m pumped for you!
Same here!
Me too lol
@@jibran89 has yours shipped by any chance or do you think it will take longer to come
You have all been blessed by the gaming gods. I'm still trying to get a digital edition PS5. I've made 17 attempts so far to get it.
The only reason I'd go with disk is because I usually buy games second hand if it is a few years old since they're usually still £40-£60 on console stores instead of £10-£20 on eBay or amazon
Sounds like you know what you want! What’s the first game you are going get?
@@FornaTRON Probably demon souls or bloodbourne. Still need to wait for them to come back in stock though
Thanks for the advice. Great video. You’re funny. 😃😂
Thank you! I try
"Because I follow developers and I follow games" same here. I like Ubisoft and their Assassin's Creed franchise
That’s awesome! Which is your favourite Assassins Creed game?
@@FornaTRON Assassin's Creed Odyssey for sure!
@@mbphilipblack8993 yeah I thought Origins was the best out of the newest trilogy. Favorites are AC2/B, AC4, and ACO
Sounds like you know which PS5 you want! Hope you get one!
@@FornaTRON thanks! I was lucky enough to be able to pre order so I’ve had one since launch. I love it!!
I just finally got my ps5 and I’m really dor 2k22 🔥🔥
Having the disc version is the best of both at the end of the day 🤷🏻♂️
He forgot the main reason for owning a physical copy of the game. 🤗
Totally agree with everything you said. Makes sense
Ending of the video had me rolling🤣
Even if you almost never use it, the possibility of the 4K HDR Bluray which supports Dolby Atmos is maybe worth the price 🍿
You have the better blurayplayer in the ps5 but its not clear if you get dolby vision like on the series x in the future.
No, you only need the internet to initially download the game.
But can't you use the disc version just like a digital??
Disc is the wisest decision because the PS store is so crazy expensive. If I buy just 3 used games, it's already paid itself off. PS store has everything at full price all the time. Fb Marketplace I buy my games for $15-60 all in
If you buy a lot of used games then yea 100% get the disc version! Thanks for watching my video!
I'm the guy still going back to play my PS2 so I guess I'll get me the disc version lol. 20 years later and I'm still playing my games as a kid
still rather have freedom of choice in games. If i finish a game and want to sell it? easy. A store is having a sale on a game ive been wanting? easy. A friend want to lend me his game? easy. Im not one to be tied down to the playstation store. I just cant
Sounds like you know what you want!
Nobody thought that physical games and cases would be valuable but time has shown us that at some point it could become a commodity. Another thing to consider. Preference and affordability are the deciding factors.
I just bought a physical edition because they were sold out of digital ☹️ I’m completely with you on preferring digital
Congrats on your PS5!
Sell me your ps5 then I want one don’t care if it’s physical
Returnal on PlayStation store: €79,95. Cheapest physical copy at the moment which I can find: €49,90. I know quite a few owners of digital PS5s who are totally pissed due to this ass backwards pricing of digital games. Thank GOD I didn't jump on bandwagon of "glorious" all digital future with PS5!
People, hang on to your rights and keep your options open. You will thank yourself later. How the things are right now and the direction where things seems to be heading simply sucks: less consumer rights and higher prices. That's the "all digital future" right now.
Good video, another thing u could have mentioned is that even if people like playing old games, by the time Sony kills the ps5 store there will probably be a lot of emulators for the ps5 like there are for the psp rn
great!
I’m personally going with the digital version because I live and Germany and the PX can be a hit or miss with games over here. Plus my old is4 couldn’t read disk so I just used to digital downloads. GameStop exist here but trading a US game doesn’t make sense especially since I don’t want the German games. So it’s diskless for me
that actually makes a lot of sense! I hope you are able to get a hold of one really soon!
I download all my games and I hate changing disc or worry about scratching them……the digital was my choice and I don’t regret it
But you can still do digital with either console… It’s not like your locked playing disks because you have the disk… Both play digital games
Digital all the way. You save on taxes and there are sales all the time nowadays. ... also savage takedown.
LOL dude you were the composed one and didn’t panic buy your PS5 like I did! I’m still stoked we got ours basically at launch on total luck!!!
I seriously don’t understand that blatantly untrue argument of the PlayStation Store not putting games on sale quickly, when the PlayStation Store literally has sales every week. There is actually a sale happening right now lol!
Looks cleaner as well
I'm new to console gaming, which version do you recommend me getting? I also have 5mbps download speed (I'm going to upgrade to 20mbps).
I’d say get whatever you can get at this point! The shortages are likely going to be around for a while long
@@FornaTRON the only next gen console i can find at msrp is the xbox series s. Do you think it's worth it? Or should I wait for ps5 shortages to end?
My friend just lent me Ghost of Tsushima on PS5.
Can’t do that on digital version.
Great!
You can on digital, I have GoT on my PS4 pro via Gameshare.
You’re right about the noise. I have a digital version is completely silent I play it in bed next to the wife.
Great, I’m glad to hear that…
Thanks for the video .. so like you sad .. digital and disc game will still require the same amount of space uses to install the game right? And the dice running during the game pretty much useless right?
You still require the disc to be inserted into the drive to run the game for DRM verification. This is to ensure you still own the game and didn't just install it and give the disc away or sell it. Otherwise people would just buy a game, install it and return it.
So if you play LOTS of games at once, this becomes kind of a hassle because you have to switch discs whenever you want to play a different game. Whereas with digital you can just quit the app and open a new game almost instantly.
Great video! Dude, I didn't even know that stuff concerning storage space. I really thought that disks saved space on your hard drive. Good stuff!
