Having a physical copy of the gane used to be fun they actually had the instruction manual. You know they would Hage instructions on how to play the game. Pictures, art, maybe some lore. Some type of backstory. They might have included a map. They would put cool art that you could flip to see from outside the gane case
Awesome video. I own games both physically and digitally. When I am buying a game, I compare prices and most of the times, physical games are cheaper. So, I lean towards physical games.
Because you can’t game share physical games. If you had a partner then digital is the way to go. Let’s say Spider-Man is $30 physical and $40 digital. I’d rather buy it for $40 for 2 people than to pay $60.
Digital games are actually cheaper theres always a sale going on in the xbox and PlayStation store they have huge 75% off deals constantly i got Last of part 2 for only $10 along with Gow 2k18 $10 and miles morales for $20
I switched to digital only in 2019 and have loved it ever since. No swapping and searching for a disk I had put in a box years ago. It’s a lot better for me personally.
Personally, I'm a mix of both. I think it's nice to have the collector's edition of a game in physical, with the accessories and everything. But, if I'm just getting a regular games with no extra perks, I'm gonna have to go with digital. With XBOX Game Pass and PlayStation Plus on the rise, I don't see a better option.
The best option is to have both digital & physical.. you have more choices for prices.. especially when some online stores dont actively adjust prices alongside the retail stores. Or maybe they do, but they use it as a marketed "sale" when it's simply just not worth as much anymore. Ive saved lots of money by getting digital or physical depending on what the official store has (if an actual sale) versus stores like amazon and wal mart that simply always list it cheaper than launch
For digital games, once they're removed they can be gone forever. Activision used to have a ton of licensed games like Legend of Korra, Transformers: Rise of Cybertron and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance now they're removed from digital stores you will never be able to play them unless you already own them digitally or own a physical copy. For games like Legend of Korra, you can't ever own it ever again unless you bought the game before Activision removed it.
Owning the game is best for me , I always wait for sales especially black Friday sales , I've been a gamer since atari pong , who knew gaming would get this big
just buy a disk edition console regardless.. you can still buy digital games and buy second hand disks for games you'd like to experience but don't want to pay full price for..
The whole video my thought was "Man this guy has such a good gaming setup for convenience." It's great to have all 4 platforms with such ease of access.
I love collecting physical games, but since I have to move to a new small place, and will need to move more in the future, I decided to go digital with Ps5 and physical with Switch, because at least the cartridges are smaller, doesn’t take much place, and easier to carry around. I may buy physical version again if it’s CE or when I have my own house to display my games
@@WyvernsAreDragons it’s listed for 39.99 in my Walmart. Physical is always gonna be cheaper even if you don’t do retail you’ve got 3rd party options like marketplace, Amazon, mecari 🤷🏽
@@WyvernsAreDragons you’re trying really hard to defend digital. Not saying it’s bad but overall digital is always gonna be better in the end. Doesn’t matter what kind “Limited specials” may be going on for a digital game
I prefer digital , because It is more portable and you can jump from one game to another in a few seconds you don’t have to change any disc or cartridges, moreover your games gets update from time to time , however due to beauty of physical games such as the front cover or some of them comes with especial edition , then I get physical version too . This is only with my favorite games such Zelda breath of the wild .or elder ring on play station
Both, but definitely leaning more towards physical because it feels like you actually own the game, and will for the foreseeable future, so long as you don't scratch or damage your media. Nintendo is shutting down their 3DS shop March 2023 so there's proof enough that digital doesn't always stick around forever. If you really love a game, buy physical AND digital.
@@jameshill5458 But don’t forget that in the case of the PS4, there are some physical games that offer an upgrade to the PS5 so you technically aren’t buying said game twice. And I believe you can still keep the PS4 as well as the PS5 version.
By the time the store closes homebred will be a viable option. Literally nobody uses the 3ds store because you can get every game ever released on itfor free. 3ds homebred uses no soldering, no purchasing of parts and no technical knowledge as its a very well documented field.
Just remember that digital means no ownership. None of those games belong to you. You are paying just to be able to play as long as they deem you can. "you will own nothing, and you will like it". If you can avoid Digital then do it.
Wrong, because Sony and Microsoft are updating system software with a virus malware bug stopping some physical games from working intentionally forcing users to buy digital games since ps4, physical is a SCAM
I spent all my ps4 era buying digital copies conly. Now with a ps5 I started buying physical copies because I miss when I was wounger and had a ps1 and nintendo 64 and had all the cases. I only got a ps5 few weeks ago and only have 3 games which are Demons Souls, R&C Rift Apart and Miles Morales. I platinumed Elden Ring digital but still want to get the physical copy someday.
About Nr 5. You have more control to perserve the physical game than perserving the digital game. For digital game - publisher have more control over your digital games, like The Crew situation.
I personally prefer physical, because then I have less fear about heckers or if my console ever breaks,... But I think that's mainly because of the price. I also often buy used games and then you can get a pearl for almost no money. I must also say that I am a switch gamer (and also other nintendo consoles such as the wii). So if it's different on another console, that's certainly possible.
The best thing of digital could be if its an old game you want to play it, like 8-10 mínimum years old, because most of them are remastered for new gen consoles, so in the marketplace those new remastered games in “physical” are kind rare and because are old, no much people are playing them so at this point the resale value for physical format isnt worth it… in the other side if you want play most of the new games, i think is totally worth it buying them in physical because of the cost / benefit, you can buying it used in excellent condition at good price and reselling it if you want it in 3 or 4 years at least, and also the physical is worth it if you are a collectionist or like certain game so much so you buy the collectors editions, those are the 2 most important reasons if you are consider to buy physical games, digital its the future tbh
Physical is always better than digital. You pay for a product you can actually hold in your hands. Overtime physical copies become cheaper while digital versions can sit on the original retail price for at least a year. If you don't like the game you bought physically you can resell it or trade it in and get (some of) your money back. With a digital purchase, you're entitled to that game you don't like forever in most cases. No refunds of sorts. Physical releases cut down waiting times as you don't have to download the entire game. The only advantage with digital is it's much more convenient.
I think the main I have about digital is the point your games can be taken away by either the company or the hacker and if you buy a game you can't get a refund once you download it. This is the problem with playstation, don't know about the rest of the companies when it comes to refunds. Also now that most games don't come with nothing or just a piece of paper(an advertisement or a dlc) it's doesn't quite matter no more about getting it physical. I just wish for refunds they would have a demo for all the games or a 2 day refund policy/ a day refund policy.
Well I'm definitely both... New game...if Id like to try difinitely psychical. Incase I don't like I can just resell. Great games I like really like I usually goes both. Get psychical just as collection and play digitally. Especially if the physical offer more limited Ed. Like TEKKEN7 & Uncharted 😅
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the fact that you run out of storage way quicker when you go all digital. Having to delete and reinstall games is a chore versus having a physical version where most of the game data is on the disk instead.
I recommend getting an external hard drive to help deal with that issue, I have an 8T external hard drive permanently connected to my Xbox series x... so whenever I run out of space, I just move one of my larger game(s) or games that I no longer play to my external drive.
Many times I end up buying the Argentina version of a game as its way cheaper than physical and digital. Don’t mean to disrespect Argentina in any way btw, I truly appreciate it.
I think the main con I have about digital is the point your games can be taken away by either the company or a hacker and if you buy a game you can't get a refund once you download it. If digital wants to be the future they are going to have to have a great refund policy, people should have fast internet, games not being taken away, and have demos for all of their games. Later on I will be buying this console called the polymega for retro games. I really like the fact that if you have the game physically, you can also have it digitally without needing to put the discs/cartridge in the console again. They also have a digital shop. Additionally the console can play the NES, SNES, PS1, Genesis, and so forth if they have that console included. You can also save your game and rewind back + the graphics are improved. You can also use the original controller for that console instead of buying their controllers. I just wish I would have got the polymega on pre-order when it was more cheap like in the $200 range. Anyway I usually go with both physical and digital. Most of my games are physical and a few are digital. The digital games are mainly online games which only 3 I paid for and others were free.
I think the only time that you would permanently lose a digital game would be if you bought an "online only" type of game... I believe games that have an offline mode or don't require a permanent internet connection to play are safe and can't be removed from your account... that's how I buy all my games, if it doesn't have an offline mode then I don't buy it 🤷♂️...
i live in india so a game disc cost 3000 rupees and ps5 plus subscription cost 5000 rupees for 12 months so its like 10 games for less money if ur indian i recommend ps5 digital
90% physical, 10% digital. The only time I’ll buy digital is if it’s significantly cheaper than physical or if the physical copy can’t be found. In the early days of the pandemic, Sony was giving Uncharted for free in the PS store, but I went out and paid $10 for the physical copy anyway
The only reason I buy game on release at these insane prices, is to physicaly own them. If they go digital I'm never buying anything over 20$. It might not be the majority of people thinking this way but going digital will really hurt first week sales, will close stores and kill the collecting hobby only so the billionaires behind Microsoft, sony and nintendo make a buck.😒
I have a mixture of Physical and Digital For me it just depends on the game and prices Example...my Switch has mostly Digital games cause there are a lot of great deals on the Eshop But my PS3 has a ton of Physical Games cause I'm finding alot of them cheap or really good deals Then I do have a few Collector Editions of Physical Games as well of some of my favorite gaming franchises and series So again for me it just depends on the game basically and the price to either buy it Physically or Digitally, and if it's a Collectors Edition of my favorite game series
For me it depends on the console. For example, starting with the PS4, I am all digital. I do have some physical but that was before I made this decision to go all in for that system. I have an external hard drive and no concerns with space. As for the Switch, I try to go physical if there is a physical copy available as the game does not need to pre-load which then acts more like a cartridge. Basically, if the game has to be completely loaded off the disk in order to work and you’re only using the disk for license confirmation, I would 100% go with the digital copy instead.
I do both physical and digital but would prefer the physical whenever possible. It now depends on where I can save money. If its cheaper digital then I go digital, if its cheaper physically then physical I go. Also, I bought HDD for my consoles so I don't have to delete games when the console disk drive is full, that way its easier and faster to play games.
Combination of both. I only go physical for the games that aren’t available digitally. And those are usually on previous generations. But if I become available digitally I’ll trade in the physical. Example, the Ratchet and Clank Collection and the Jak And Daxter Collection.
I'm fine to switch to digital it's the future after all but....Removing physical games from shops also removes the competion between stores which can also drives prices down. Also you cannot buy second hand and finally you cannot lend or borrow. Sony is aware of these things and basically wants full control if the market. This will mean higher prices with no other options. For the thess reasons it's best to keep buying physical to keep the market alive and consumer friendly.
Sorry no offence intended but I disagree with your comment about digital being the future. It’s definitely not the future and the only reason it hypothetically is, is because we’re allowing it. And not only that, but then I hope people are okay with everyday people losing their jobs in these games stores because people can’t be bothered to go to said store to get a game off a shelf. Because that’s the way we’re heading if we keep going down this road.
he failed to mention game developers lose their license for certain franchised game characters and the only way to get those legally games is on physical media. Games like Deadpool can only be bought on physical disc because Activision lost the rights to the character. Playstation and Xbox removed the game a few years back from its digital store.
Physical easily, imagine buying a new game for $70 and it turns out to be shit but you can’t return it. Physical discs have resale value and can save you a LOT of money in the long run. PS Plus games are the only ones I download digitally
Dude idk why people say buying games digitally is more expensive, I bought the crash and spyro trilogy bundle for around 25 bucks on sale. That's a steal.
So I used to buy digital copies for PS4, & I stopped doing that now. I realized I was spending too much money on games that were low tier & playing a lot of them. So now I decided to play on my Switch. Since I don't like every game, I'm buying physical copes on the switch. Main reasons, I don't want to be tied into any account, the switch games I'm playing them within min rather than waiting 20 min up to 3 hours, & they don't take as much space on my shelf & very little memory space too. Also I like owning them look at my shelf & like look at the box, art work etc.
Physical is just ultimately better there is no advantage to digital games, unless you are under the very precise conditions that you have a very small department and you physically do not have any room at all to have a collection of games, and you depend on digital games to have any games or Watson ever so unless you need to have digital games or nothing. Physical games is superior. 1) physical games are cheaper. you can save money by buying games secondhand. You can make a little bit of money by selling your games. Even brand-new games, the physical sale shops need to get rid of old inventory, make room for new. so you can get physical games brand-new discount once been on shelf for a little while. 2) physical games, give you more for your money. The base game, you get a nice case that case contains of warranty or an advertisement for upcoming games or a manual, which can give you the controls, especially older generation games. If you’re buying some sort of limited edition, that could be a steelbook case which is nice and all the other goodies that can include fake other extra pan flats early concept are alternative our case all in this beautiful box digital gives you nothing like this. 3) you own the game. Digital games, you own part of the license to play the game. that license can be revoked even after you have fully paid for . Physical games you own that game. You can guarantee that for example your game that’s on PS2 for example or guarantee to Work no matter what on PlayStation two if you own a PS5 or an Xbox series X you can guarantee that your physical disc will work for ever on its appropriate console. no company can ever come into your house and take away the physical game that you paid for. physical games actually helps to preserve the long jeopardy of your console. This is because a console that has lots of games on it slowly overtime hammers the GPU every single time you put it up because it now has to get warmer more power and it wears away at its parts, a little bit more than a physical game. A disc drive can be replaced on your games and consoles will be fine if it ever wears out or brakes, but if you’re SSD or HHD ever breaks because it’s being used a lot or just wears out that’s all your downloaded games gone. If you’re console please physical games only and you don’t bother with any digital downloads that takes the load off your council and your council now has to do less processing power in general and will last longer. 4) it doesn’t matter how big of a memory that you can ever possibly have. my 20 or so physical games on shelf is always going to be more impressive and look better than 20 downloaded games. my 8 MB PS2 memory card is all the memory, my PS2 is ever going to need for over 100 games. You can argue that modern games are bigger and therefore take up more memory and consoles have more memory now. I’d have plenty of memory for plenty of games which they don’t. I own an Xbox series X 1 terabyte memory. I managed to fill its memory up with 22 downloaded games. A friend of mine also with an Xbox series. X one Tate refuses to download any games and all of his games are physical and he has already about 70 games taking up less than 10% of his memory, because the memory is only using the save file of the game. 5) consoles, breaking or dying out of age, physical games will not be affected If your console breaks or dies out of age, your physical games are fine because there are a secret thing altogether you can replace your console and you would still have your games. You will always have your physical games. If your physical game breaks your saved data and your progress is saved to the consul or the Meic card, and you can just simply replace the desk and you’re good Digitally downloaded games don’t have the same protection if your console brakes with your game collection. Your digital download game. Collection are also gone and you can’t guarantee that you would be able to download all your digital downloads again for free. Usually you can, but you can’t be promised this, you can back them up onto a hard drive or something, but again your game might be locked to your old console 6) physical games is just far superior when it comes to backwards compatibility It’s most likely that next generation consoles would still be able to play the physical games of previous generation consoles, if the next generation console supports backwards, compatibility You can make an argument that digital downloads could be a better form in the future of backwards compatibility because through a digital download, the game can be updated and optimised for the new hardware of our new console. And I will give you that I’m actually a big supporter of that and I think that’s where digital downloads live because if I wanna play my old game, the physical disc is just gonna give me the old game as were originally with no enhancements and a digital download, going to give me a more enhanced experience, whereas on a physical game that can happen, but that requires a complete new release for the game to be re-released or have some sort of remake or remastered released and that’s a whole other ball game. However, I am guarantee for my old physical games to always still work as long as they are in working condition and as for digital downloads I have no control over what games what old games from the previous generation console become available in a new one if at all. don’t get me wrong I personally think digital downloaded games is awesome. However we are not quite there yet with the technology that we have sure the technology that we have to download and play digital download games is absolutely we can do that and the game do work well and look fantastic and play fantastic but the technology just isn’t quite there yet for digital downloads to be odd to replacement to physical games until the day I can physically buy like a desk that is a key to digitally download the game to my console and when my consul memory begins to get full the console can take some of the games that I’m not playing or haven’t played in awhile and move them up into a cloud storage or begin to compress them into a tiny tiny memory format and then only reopen again and play them from there. Then digital downloads would be a perfect replacement to physical games, but we’re not there yet ever I think the best of digital download games in future even under perfect ideal technological conditions and advancements. We are still going to have some sort of physical presence. Ultimately the best move forward when it comes to digital or physical games. I think physical games are always going to be the better option because it is going to be cheaper to produce them and it’s going to be very satisfying in future for people to always buy a physical thing and actually own, it always going to be more reliable because remember this is a hobby that people are going to want to last for a very very long time for their lives and it isn’t limited to just one generation of people. Either gaming is a universal experience that we are human beings are always going to enjoy across all sorts of people, people, groups and generations to come, but like music and musical instruments, the primitive acoustic guitar doesn’t get outdated and replaced with the electric guitar. It’s a completely different beast. Digital games are never going to replace physical games ever because it’s a completely different beast. Some people enjoy playing acoustic guitar. Some people enjoy playing electric guitar. Some people enjoy listening to electronic techno, music and some people listen to more organic music with like string and wind. Instruments. One is not a replacement to the other. The same thing goes with games some people love digital download games and some people love physical games and physical games are going to be here to stay, but when it comes to Reliability even digital instruments and electronic instruments still use very old technology because of universal reliability games are the exactly the same physical descs One day might be viewed as very old and primitive, but it’s always going to be reliable. And this is actually why I say, physical game discs are here to stay, and they’re here to stay forever as long as the gaming hobby remains
One very relevant aspect I don't see mentioned in this discussion is that in the long term console's disc drives are prone to failure and have to be fixed or replaced. So if you only have physical games you have to rely on your disc drive not to have any malfunction, whereas with digital games you don't even need one to be able to play your games. This will also be important for people like myself that like to keep and play older consoles and older games, specially in the Playstation ecosystem where retrocompatability has not been always assured.
The cost of repairing the disc drive is less than the cost of buying games digitally in the long run. Used physical triple As titles are often $20-30 off as opposed to digital ones.
I usually go digital for the convenience unless it's games I'm extremely passionate about and want to display in my home. For example, I bought a physical copy of Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends just to have it in my display cabinet despite already having it digitally on two platforms lol
Honestly, the benefits for physical outweigh the benefits gor digital for me. Like the game will be available to me for as long as I take good care of it (which I plan to do for as long as I can) while a digital game will become unplayable after 20 or 30 years when they shut the servers down. And the benefit for going digital is that I don’t have to stand up and walk 2 metres to the shelf where I keep my games and sit back down again. Yeah, I’ll be staying physical for as long as I can.
I haven't bought a physical game since 2013 and since then just switched over to buying all my games digital on ps4 / ps5 Only time I ever buy discs nowadays is for my ps1, ps2 and sum for ps3 depending on the game
With playstation I have a mix of both but more digital while woth Nintendo I always go digital unless there's a massive discount because I don't want to lose them
I miss collecting physical games. Ever since the pandemic I been downloading digitally and I'm starting to find it quick and boring compered to just popping the game in and playing it like I used to.
When I get bored of a console or a new one comes out I sell my old collection. I just sold my switch games on eBay for $2,500. Why the hell would I want to be stuck with a huge collection of digital games I can never resell and won’t play again…? Psh.
I personally think that i would go best if i had both, the games i don't play much can be physical and the games i'm likely to play a lot digital, or the opposite. it is nice
Its easy to get Digitally,i am Physical Copy guy cause i treat th3 disk like a game trophy but as you said it can be damaged, scratched if stored carelessly since 2016 but its just now i bought my very 1st Digital copy cause i cant get out of the house to go buy a physical, having amputated leg sucks.😂i will make sure that the Digital games i will own from today will be played non stop because like you said we cant sell it unlike Physical. I sold alot of my physical games so i got back most of mu money but i would like to collect digital games that means i will select the digital games it would stay forever and not buy those games that o know i will grow out of of cause i cant sell it
I'm not sure about the xbox platform but when sharing digital games u can't be logged in at 2 locations, if ur friend logs into psn while ur playing u will be instantaneously be logged out told that u have logged into another ps4 and loose all progress in the current title
Physical is best...the one major thing it has over digital is resell value. If you buy all digital, well then you won't ever be able to try and make any money off of them.
I’m 40 and I’ve always bought physical even now, but with a lot of things going to remote play could mean you’ll be away from home and if you don’t have digital games you’ll only have access to the one game in the drive. Which is why I believe Nintendo is going to do this for their next system and GameStop is closing a lot of locations because nobody will buy physical anymore
I could be wrong but I remember as a kid getting games brand new that had colored instruction manuals, memory card holder cases and extra things like maps or promos for new games coming out w/ amazing detail. Now I haven’t bought a physical copy game in a while but the last time I did it just felt so boring and meaningless, it made me question why I should go to a store to buy a game when I have I have to spend an hour downloading it regardless of if I went to the store or not. My last games were nba 2k17, Bioshock collection, Assassins creed odyssey and Evil Within 2.
About the arguments: 1 - Material editions are better because, at the same price, we really own it. (...not because it is cheaper, many times the inverse happening...) 2 - Physical is not only better because we can resell them, but because we can dispose of them, whether keeping, sharing, giving them... 3 - The limitations of physical editions about the digital content included is invalid, for the evident reason that this is talking about the included digital content, having the same digital inconvenients, which should not be included in a physical edition. 4 - Availability is a false question, if we compare a material edition to an edition that does not exists, but is only accessible via a license in a specific virtual store. 5 - Comparing durability of a material edition to having none is irrelevent, since, of course, we can not break a game disc with a digital purchase, we have none ! If anything, we keep temporary access, not ownership. Meanwhile, this is without mentioning the dependance of an account and the not eventual, but inevitable closure of the online service giving access to the game via license. 6 - About convenience, the "incomplete" argument comes from the editon's incompletion, that should leave a functionnal game anyway, which is better than nothing left at the end of the service. Also, digital implies a costly storage in the form of hard drives if we want to keep them all, even after being delisted. 7 - About ecology, again owning something versus nothing is not an equation, and if we would want to compare, we would have to measure the impact of all the digital system "ecosystem", from the installation of cables into the oceans to the cost of servers buildings running constantly. 8 - Beauty is a strange way to aboard the question of ownership of an object, when, this time it was mentioned, the alternative in not owning it. 9 - About speed, a digital version is far from "a complete download from the beginning"; any player know how much times frequent updates become mandatory. 10 - About backwards compatibility, it is still functional on most of the consoles having proposed it, but this is a commercial stake for enterprises, who may remove it at once materially and digitaly to make more profit. Also, we may have to purchase it once more digitally, when a version replace a preceeding one. Nb. It was not mentioned how digital editions may limit the access to our familily, when many content purchases are attributed to a sole profile or account. Also, there are distinctions to do between integral editions and the diverse forms of content dependant of an online service, partially or entirely. An let us not start talking about the so-called "free" games and their unsold paid content... About physical editions, it is the better option, but this is said with a full comprehension of the personnal reasons leading many to rely to digital access sometimes. However, let us be vigilant.
Just bought a PS4 game (Red Dead 2) as a gift for a co-worker. I don't think you can do that with digital without some personal info which means, no surprise.🤔
I mean if I’m getting a single player game, then that’s I’m getting the physical copy. Any multiplayer game is where I’ll buy it online as it would need internet either way for you to play it
Right now, I'm doing digital games. But I needed to reset my PS5 with a different email, but I'd loose a hundred dollars worth of games! So I'm going back to physical disc, that way I can do as I please with my account without losing all of my games, unlike digital. Don't get me wrong, I love the ease of digital, but I can't reset!! I just can't reset without the same email and trophy's, as I wanted to lose some of the trophies and I can't do it without a reset to a different email account.
I, personally, don’t care if it’s digital or physical. I buy what’s cheaper. Don’t buy a lot of games since I use GamePass and PlayStation Plus. But the ones that I personally buy on both platforms, are mixed. On Xbox I have everything digital. I buy keys that are way cheaper than physical. On PlayStation I have mostly physical as PSN digital is more expensive, and keys are nowhere to be found.
It's a Mix for Me. Eg I would definitely prefer to have say Tomb raider trilogy or Mass Effect Legendary Edition and other bundles digitally and a few games that I always play Eg Fifa. But the rest I don't mind having a physical copy.
If there was a way to actually OWN & Not Loose digital games at all I’d say both but since you can’t physical games are best all the way. You can get retro systems and games physically you can’t find old games digitally . All games old and new games from old consoles Nintendo , Super NES, GBA, GB XBOX, PS all those games need to be released digitally there’s a lot of classic old games from those consoles.
Id say it depends on pricing i picked digital copies of the arkham series for 4.99!! It felt illegal to reject that but also cover art and especially steelbook copies of games absolutely SLAP
I have a mix of both. But disc overall wins imo. Disc you can take to a friends house and let them borrow it. You can re-sell disc versions. Last reason, but only applies to backwards capabilities, if I buy a PS 4 game for my wife, I can also play it on my ps5. Can’t do that with digital.
There are 3,454 cheap used ps4 cd games that end up in the used bargain bins sooner or later. The Blu-Ray drive is also a 4k movie player. I bought a used CD of Horizon Forbidden West for $30 from a used bargain bin that game is $80 at sony online store.
What about install time? Skyrim on disc took 3 seconds ps4, Sekiro ps4 disc took 5 min on ps4, god of war 3 ps4 disc took 4 seconds. Idk about PS5 but ps4 disc install times r 10x faster and some of them r just near instant.
More on the physical side for me because you don't really own the digital copies of your games because the platforms could take it away without a single notice only have a couple of digital games only because sales on that day
Let’s be real here. If one day users would report that Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo, took paid games from their accounts that would be a scandal. With a massive backlash on the company’s credibility and consumers trust. Apart from hugely tanking their shares and probably getting the Antitrust involved. Which would result in millions of dollars lost, for nothing.
In NZ Digital copies are like $70 more than physical copies, I don’t get it. I love the convenience of digital, but new releases are so much cheaper in the stores. So it’s a no brained new games physical, old games good sales on digital sales.
10:55 you can do that with physical games too, you can play the game while the game is installing. 11:25 bro you know that physical media let you play way faster than digital media.
You missed an issue with digital games on numbers 6 and 5, availability and longevity. Digital games can be removed from the stores whenever the publisher wants to. Look at PT or the Turtles in Time remake. Gone forever unless you find a hard drive with it downloaded on it. Rarity might make games expensive, but for every single copy to be destroyed, highly unlikely. Also, while servers are up and running now, the longevity of the system plays a part in how long your games will be around. Ask anyone who missed out on getting games they wanted for the Wii. Or worse, anyone who had a large collection of games on their Wii, only to have it die. They still have their physical copies, but any digital games are gone for good.
There are 3,454 cheap used ps4 cd games that end up in the used bargain bins sooner or later. The Blu-Ray drive is also a 4k movie player. I bought a used CD of Horizon Forbidden West for $30 from a used bargain bin that game is $80 at sony online store.
No digital can ever beat the beautiful sight of all the games on the shelves with all those hefty manuals - like in the "Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines", or "Diablo II", or in "Clive Barker's Undying"...Got around 210 PC games alone, Collector's Editions and such - nothing can replace those!

I have a dilemma: I bought a ps5 and the only one I could find is the GOWR bundle which came with a digital code. I prefer physical media but the physical copy of GOWR is currently $70. How much storage do both versions take up
You do know all the games are technically digital only thing the physical copy is the license agreement, vs digital license agreement, all the disc does is grant access to play the game that's digitally on your hard drive since you made the choice for the physical license agreement vs digital, so either as you call it physical or digital, the game is the same size regardless
Switch physical, Xbox s (obviously digital) and ps5 digital. I only had 4 discs on ps4 rest of my games were digital. But aye who cares ! As long as your gaming and enjoying the system/systems that’s all that really matters!
So, physical, digital or a mix of both?
Both
Digital

physical
Having a physical copy of the gane used to be fun they actually had the instruction manual. You know they would Hage instructions on how to play the game. Pictures, art, maybe some lore. Some type of backstory. They might have included a map. They would put cool art that you could flip to see from outside the gane case
Yep I saw that GTA still does it except for GTA V for the ps5
If gta 6 doesnt come with a map/ poster of a hot girl we gonna have to sue

Awesome video. I own games both physically and digitally. When I am buying a game, I compare prices and most of the times, physical games are cheaper. So, I lean towards physical games.
Because you can’t game share physical games. If you had a partner then digital is the way to go. Let’s say Spider-Man is $30 physical and $40 digital. I’d rather buy it for $40 for 2 people than to pay $60.

I'll be going for the both physical and digital games.
That makes sense though as long as if u purchased it and still can download it it’s still yours doesn’t matter if everyone else doesn’t got it lol

Exactly that's the future they want for us "everything" digital
Speaking for console here, physical are $20-30 cheaper on day one of release compared to digital.
Digital is the same if you buy a code online rather than the official store
I spent all my ps4 era buying digital copies conly. Now with a ps5 I started buying physical copies because I miss when I was wounger and had a ps1 and nintendo 64 and had all the cases.
I only got a ps5 few weeks ago and only have 3 games which are Demons Souls, R&C Rift Apart and Miles Morales. I platinumed Elden Ring digital but still want to get the physical copy someday.
About Nr 5. You have more control to perserve the physical game than perserving the digital game. For digital game - publisher have more control over your digital games, like The Crew situation.
Mine is mixed, but majority pf the games leans on the physical side.
I personally prefer physical,
because then I have less fear about heckers or if my console ever breaks,...
At first I didn't like the thought of non physical games but it's safe to say game pass has changed my mind about that
Well I'm definitely both...
Not true... PS5 discs comes only 1-2 GB in disc rear 100+ gbs to download via internet lol
I recommend getting an external hard drive to help deal with that issue, I have an 8T external hard drive permanently connected to my Xbox series x... so whenever I run out of space, I just move one of my larger game(s) or games that I no longer play to my external drive.
I am a mix guy because it depends in my mood and how convenient it is for me some times it’s physical or sometimes it’s digital
Cheaper for physical depends on the country you are. Here in Argentina digital is up to 10 times cheaper than physical. Disc games are a luxury...
Many times I end up buying the Argentina version of a game as its way cheaper than physical and digital.
Don’t mean to disrespect Argentina in any way btw, I truly appreciate it.
I’m going with the hybrid approach
Same
I think the main con I have about digital is the point your games can be taken away by either the company or a hacker and if you buy a game you can't get a refund once you download it.

90% physical, 10% digital. The only time I’ll buy digital is if it’s significantly cheaper than physical or if the physical copy can’t be found. In the early days of the pandemic, Sony was giving Uncharted for free in the PS store, but I went out and paid $10 for the physical copy anyway
Exactly
I like physical copies of games because i like collecting them
There is a good feeling looking at my game collection and seeing how many there are
I always get both digital to play and physical to collect I’ve been buying 2 copy’s of everything since the snes days
I like selling physical games when I'm done with them or I don't enjoy them. I also buy them this way. I couldn't do that with digital games.
I’m always gonna prefer physical copies especially for ps exclusives cuz they have reversible covers
I have a mixture of Physical and Digital
For me it just depends on the game and prices
Example...my Switch has mostly Digital games cause there are a lot of great deals on the Eshop
But my PS3 has a ton of Physical Games cause I'm finding alot of them cheap or really good deals
Then I do have a few Collector Editions of Physical Games as well of some of my favorite gaming franchises and series
So again for me it just depends on the game basically and the price to either buy it Physically or Digitally, and if it's a Collectors Edition of my favorite game series
It takes up a lot of my shelf space going physical.
I got that, problem is the price

Im both I usually prefer physical because if I'm without internet atleast I have games to play and not download
5) consoles, breaking or dying out of age, physical games will not be affected
If your console breaks or dies out of age, your physical games are fine because there are a secret thing altogether you can replace your console and you would still have your games. You will always have your physical games.
If your physical game breaks your saved data and your progress is saved to the consul or the Meic card, and you can just simply replace the desk and you’re good
Digitally downloaded games don’t have the same protection if your console brakes with your game collection. Your digital download game. Collection are also gone and you can’t guarantee that you would be able to download all your digital downloads again for free. Usually you can, but you can’t be promised this, you can back them up onto a hard drive or something, but again your game might be locked to your old console
6) physical games is just far superior when it comes to backwards compatibility
It’s most likely that next generation consoles would still be able to play the physical games of previous generation consoles, if the next generation console supports backwards, compatibility
You can make an argument that digital downloads could be a better form in the future of backwards compatibility because through a digital download, the game can be updated and optimised for the new hardware of our new console.
I agree even before to complete my lecture... You are already right ! 😏
I haven't bought a physical game since 2013 and since then just switched over to buying all my games digital on ps4 / ps5

When I get bored of a console or a new one comes out I sell my old collection. I just sold my switch games on eBay for $2,500. Why the hell would I want to be stuck with a huge collection of digital games I can never resell and won’t play again…? Psh.
I personally think that i would go best if i had both, the games i don't play much can be physical and the games i'm likely to play a lot digital, or the opposite. it is nice
I like a physical box with a download code inside.
team hybrid, i'd buy digital for portable consoles like nintendo switch
Sports/WRC, i always go Digital. Every year the game is updated. No need to hoarde yearly games unless one is your favorite player/racer
I sold alot of my physical games so i got back most of mu money but i would like to collect digital games that means i will select the digital games it would stay forever and not buy those games that o know i will grow out of of cause i cant sell it
Exclusive games and unique games such as indies i buy physically and online-only and third party i get digitally
There is only positives with hard copies there isn't any really positive with digital unless it is free.
I'm not sure about the xbox platform but when sharing digital games u can't be logged in at 2 locations, if ur friend logs into psn while ur playing u will be instantaneously be logged out told that u have logged into another ps4 and loose all progress in the current title
I’m pretty sure you can also buy digital and physical on disc edition
Pls correct me😊
Physical is best...the one major thing it has over digital is resell value.
About the arguments:
1 - Material editions are better because, at the same price, we really own it. (...not because it is cheaper, many times the inverse happening...)
2 - Physical is not only better because we can resell them, but because we can dispose of them, whether keeping, sharing, giving them...
Any multiplayer game is where I’ll buy it online as it would need internet either way for you to play it
Physical I'd like to have my desk my game case I like to display them
Is the game data actually ON the disk?
You can sell your physical copies on Ebay when your finished with them.
yes very true but with Physical games you also run the risk of your disc drive and laser breaking
@@salvomarchi2761 wouldn't be the dumbest thing a company has done and millions is peanuts to those 2 companies.
Digital is working for me. Loading discs seems a bit old hat now but obviously physical are nice to look at & loan to friends as well as trading in.

Most games take 40 hours to play so who will touch a cd much. It took 3 weeks for to play God Of War before ejection it out of the cd drive .
I’m 99 percent digital but I have a disc PS5. No more dealing w GameStop pre orders and lines .
For me the more important is the game it self , not the box.....
@@BookOwl60 Sure. And all games i've got have a good to great story - i buy only the good games and good games only. And seeing what is happening all around the big developers and greedy CEO's - all those big boxes and collectors editions looking more and more great with every passing day. As you know, digital can be taken away from you, no?
@@acegrafik I think that I am safe with digital games I have paid from PS Store .
man my wifi is 1-2mbs finna get starlink in a few weeks tho so my 20 years of struggling is finally over 🙏🏻🙏🏻
For me is more in how cheap I find it sometimes I find it digital cheaper and other times physical
mixed, digital that I own and physical too
I have a dilemma: I bought a ps5 and the only one I could find is the GOWR bundle which came with a digital code.
If you want a physical copy for display purposes you can probably just buy an empty case of the game 🤷🏻♂️
Switch physical, Xbox s (obviously digital) and ps5 digital. I only had 4 discs on ps4 rest of my games were digital. But aye who cares ! As long as your gaming and enjoying the system/systems that’s all that really matters!
Digital for me. Any game I purchase or download gets saved into my xbox account.
i only get physical copy for my favorite franchises and limited edition/rare games
this is a really good video,i just received the digital version from amazon
How is it
@@rashedsolaieh9462 its really really good. The peak of gaming
Aside from collecting I see no benefit in physical copies, it’s just way more convenient to own a digital copy
