Your trunk won't latch and you don't wanna drive in the rain because the seal isn't sealed anymore. What do you do? Get yourself a replacement latch and check out this video on how to replace the faulty part yourself!
VW Hatchback Trunk Latch: bit.ly/TrunkLatch
Thanks, took me longer to grab the tools then to do the job. Also thanks for mentioning I don't need to pull the panel all the way off. Easy job.
Thanks! This had my boot fixed in under 30 mins. I didn't pull my cover all the way off either fwiw.
Thank you so much sir!! Followed your instructions to the T and yes I did it, keep up the great work you star!!!
Thank you for your video. Would you be able to show us what went wrong in the broken latch?
Why were you on your tip-toes when you could have just pulled the hatch down?
My lock broke tonight. That's why I'm here. Thank you!
Amazing video. But trying to figure out if my problem is the same, when I open the latch there’s no noise, it just doesn’t open without a few tries. Does the same part need replacing?
Could also possibly be the switch in the badge for yours by the sounds of it.. try both.. don't damage the box and be careful fitting the parts and most places will take back the part you dont need
Thank you just what I need
Instead of not opening, mine doesn’t close. Could that be the same issue ?
How long did it actually take to get the cover back on? That’s usually the most frustrating and time-consuming part of such a easy repair.
Depends on the day; 1 minute or 10. You never know!
@@TheParkingLotMechanic Agreed.
Since you replaced the hatch I recommend getting the hatch pop kit they have on ECS. It's a pretty good quality of life mod for grocery runs or eventually a dad mobile.
I've looked at it! just haven't gotten it yet. You have it and you like it?
The motor on the latch doesn’t seem to make a noise when I press the button in the key fob. Can i just pull the hatch door to open it ??
Thank you 😅
good work
My latch has went out as it has the whirring noise but I can’t open the boot by just pulling it up and the emergency release latch won’t move. Any ideas?
Nice thanks
Bolts are not mm8 triple square. Can you confirm size for UK car
spare lock from where u r getting
Max verstappen letsgooo
Hey Man i need your help, What screwdriver have yoou been used on that 2 screws what are on the lock ???
It's a T15 TORX on my Golf.
I found your video SUPER helpful however I'm stumped at the part where I have to remove the latch. What bit did you use to remove the bolts? cant seem to find it.
Sorry, I thought I mentioned it in the video but the bolts for the latch are 8mm triple squares.
Mine just went bad , your saying this will drain my battery till I fix it?
I have a 15lb Braille battery that can be drained really easily and this problem didn't drain my battery so I would assume you will be fine!
In my car, the trunk open indicator keeps the instrument cluster illuminated, even though the car is semi-locked. That would be the source of any battery drain.
What are ? 8mm triple Square?
Specialty socket from VAG. Can get them easily on Amazon though.
@@TheParkingLotMechanic isn´t that a normal Torx? I live in Europe and on my Golf GTI mk6 they were normal Torx screws holding the panel and the latch itself.
Mines stuck closed and the emergency lever isn’t working
Same. I still can't figure out how to get it to open
Mine is shut solid no noises or anything
