Just let them free and once they enter the water on their own, you can brush them and bathe them with water of same temperature

They need to be in and out of water at their will to maintain body temperature
Don't listen to the creator of this video. These are red eared slider turtles, and they need up to ten galling per inch of their shell length. They prefer deep water with a place to bask where they can fully come out of the water. They REQUIRE 8 hours of UVB light with a basking lamp. They really shouldn't be kept in a tank long-term unless you have room for a 100+ gallon tank. They do much better in ponds. This creators turtles are pretty stunted and deformed, probably because of the incorrect housing and lack of proper lighting needed for healthy shell development.

How old is it and what are you feeding?
I have a red eared slider, about 10 years old, kept in a 20 gallon long tank, with a landing for basking, and a gravel bottom. He isn't quite that big though.... is there something wrong with him?? He seems healthy, and I feed him a diet of earthworms, mealworms, and dry turtle food.
Size depends on genetics as well… just feed them properly and forget about the size…

Turtle babies won’t eat veggies so early, you will need to feed them turtle sticks or dried shrimps

Nickname is chotku.I remember since his demise but i still remember him but now i am extremely happy and i am thinking that red eared slider turtle is reincarnated or an avatar of him (Previous Modak)! So i am very sad as he was my best friend. Rest in Peace Previous Modak. I'll miss you and won't forget. He died so that's why to not forget i adopted successor of modak,Her just saw that 5 months old modak and after 1 day he saw and enjoyed with him and suddenly died by a heat stroke.My name is an indian name because i am indian as well as bengali too!

@@IndieAquarist Natural sunlight she loves walks in the garden and is outside during summer. Hibirnates during wintertime inside. Feed alot during summer nothing during winter. But I think my turtle just learnt the seasons during its live cause I live in a cold climate.
@@IndieAquarist like diet she loves to eat snails in her pond, and i guess she's also eating muscitto larves, flys etc etc. I leave it's pond as natural as possible :p Turtles are around on this planet for much longer than humans, if she likes the snails more than. Like 25 years ago there was not a lot of information you could find on the internet. Reptiles are super hardy feed them when the sun shines when there body is warm and they are happy. In nature when there body is warm they have to use that energy to hunt, when kept they have food for sure so the energy doesn't go wasted.

@@IndieAquarist ive tried no one came threw im still keeping her or him had her since it was the size of a quarter and i fill the tank all the way to the top the little penut ran away i swear i came down one day and i was like where is the turtle .... WHERE IS THE TURTLE !! whole day went by i was like wth ... and then one day my dad was going to the bath room and ran into the little thing gasping for air or water he put it back in the tank the pooor thing took a big gast and its been with us for years but i just cant keep the tank clean its a 55 gallon tank at this point i cant upgrade the tank i think id have to buy like a 100 plus tank for it to be happy i thought about letting her go on a lake but they say thats a bad thing so i just dont know and i feel like its not happy in the tank anymore

@@IndieAquarist Yea she about 10 inch now it's crazy. I just got her and above tank basking area I had to modify it for her to be able to climb the ramp correctly as she is too heavy and kept sliding off.

Floating on surface?
Please keep it in place as well, turtles also need to be out of water and bask in sunlight. No more than 15-20 minutes in direct sunlight in a day.
