- My first ever real car races at Silverstone International in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship!
This is my first step into car racing after many years karting and sim racing. There would be a lot to learn and to get used to. The main aim here was to see the chequered flag in each race and secure signatures on my racing licence (in order to get a licence upgrade - which would be needed later this year).

Finished 6th, a shadow realm trip and a heart breaking last lap accident.
It can't be more Super GT than this.
Its never a complete Super GT video without a good ol' shadow realm dispatch!
And it’s a circuit which is mostly straights except for the corners!

Are we not going to talk about how amazingly Steve handled that collision? Had the presence of mind, during a collision, to look left and right while steering (perfectly) to control the skid.
Obviously you don't want to be involved in a crash but I was quite happy with the perfect J-turn plus managing to avoid getting hit a second time! Could have been worse for sure.

It’s actually not too difficult to get into club races like this. Miata one of the easier ones on the budget and you can rent time in a car. Worth checking up, just be aware as he mentioned you can be liable for the cost of any major damage.

Seeing Steve starting his real life car racing careere with a 6th Position warms my heart and shows a greate future. Very entertaining Video. Loved the multiple camera angles and commentary.

Just goes to show that the experience you've had with irl karts and gt racing in sims really do make for competitive racing skills in real life.

@@skrimper My dad didn't think the same, the first day i went karting with my family i destroyed everyone haha. Is not just arcade playing, is simulation of the phisics of the car and that way i developed the touchness needed to be faster than normal people. Anyway i recognise i didn't expect the kart to be that aggresive and hard steering

I love that you did IRL race, and it was your first time and you didnt spend like 20 minutes talking "how excited you are". You were there to race and this was exciting :)
Silverstone defo needs to be added in GT7. Short and full circuit. This could be Daily Race A for example.
Wasn't available in GTS? (probably im mistaking it for brands hatch 🤔)

That was an incredibly enjoyable watch! As someone who doesn't watch much IRL racing outside of the occasional F1 VODs, it's always crazy to see how accurate sim racing/GT looks to the real thing, especially with cockpit cam on a track that can be driven in games. Great commentary as always, love watching your story progress, can't wait to see more! Keep up the good work!

I'm not so sure, I may be wrong, but it seems like steve doesn't usually go for high downforce racing. Definitely fun to see them race together however!
@@NoStereo I think the only reason hes driving mx5 is because he doesnt have a high enough lisence for something like a praga or even like a gt4 or something
@@dfrnxt3793 Of course, but I was basing my guess off of what he tends to do in sim. Jimmy tended to do more high downforce in sim and now he is doing praga. I haven't followed Steve quite as much as Jimmy so I could be wrong, but Steve from what I've seen likes vehicles that rely more on mechanical grip.

That’s a sick opportunity and something I’d love to do, as a matter of fact I’d like to know how you actually got to do this? It’s a dream of mine to be able to do professional racing.
This is something that a friend of mine hooked me up with but I do believe that go4it mx5 racing is a team that anyone can use to experience car racing. They essentially hire out their race cars for anyone to use which is what I did.

The reflections are great, the animations superb. And I was blown away when you mentioned, that the car model has been introduced in the 90s.
I then googled and found out that the track is even older and still is so high quality.
Let's hope the other guys pick up on the quality of this game's creator, God, that is .

This is why I've been a fan of your content for years now. I love you sim racing videos but when you actually do the real world racing and like events where you just driving the car or go karting is what really make this channel special thanks for this video.
I love you and Jimmer, man. You guys are idols even to an older guy like me. Sim racing is essentially my only option when it comes to getting my "need to go fast" fix. Both of you guys are able to enter actual race series'.
It's incredible to know I started watching your content because I love racing, gaming, and racing sims, and now I've seen you progress to real racing over the years. Super proud of you, Steve!
What I love about this video is that you can actually see the violence in driving these cars on the edge. Hearing those tires screeching through turns, seeing the car step out a bit, the sound and vibration of the curbs when they're driven over... These are just MX-5s, imagine a Porsche, or Ferrari, or Lamborghini.
No matter the piece you have beneath you, you gotta bring a set with you to drive these things on the limit.

When you become a professional racer, please make sure your contract allows you to continue doing these videos. It wouldn’t be the same with out them.

Love the irl kart videos so Im gonna love these. The track I used to marshal for used to use MX 5s for racing schools so makes sense youd start there. No sim is ever gonna replicate the sounds of the real track (among other things ofc) hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy watching

imagine going back to the 80s and telling the dudes at mazda that their copy of a british 60s car would be used for legit rqacing over 30 years later
racing irl is definetely an experience, down south in Brazil we had a sort of home made car cup, where low power home cars would compete, it was complete carnage but also tons of fun

Congrats on the new racing career. I just started iRacing and most my races are with the MX5. This just showed me how realistic iRacing really is. What you said about slow in, fast out is crucial with this car.
Mate, your car control and analytics of where you can improve is on the next level, and you do it without being self deprecating, you see the little moments where something didn’t quite work out and you and you ask yourself “okay, what was the issue and how do I fix it?”
Might I suggest watching a few videos of a young chap from Australia for a few tips on brake craft?
His name is Jordan Cox, the young fella is a wizard, it would be really interesting to see what you have to say about him.
