5:00 Big brain Broadbent got his numbers mixed up. The ME221 is the ECU in the practice car, with the ME442 being the one that saved the track car engine. SORRY I'M BAD WITH NUMBERS OKAY
Lol
Quick question: How did the gas milage change / how's your gas milage with the ITB's? (I have a 1.8 NA with ITB's too and quite high fuel consumption for a little 1.8l engine and do wonder if it is normal or just my mapping) PS: Always makes me smile big time driving it tho... 😁
at first I thought this was a supercharger, lovely to see an ITB miata every now and then :)

"it's not broken, it's being prepared for next season", "it is road legal, it's just not road nice". Every track enthusiast has said these exact lines before.
When Gran Turismo becomes reality!
Now all he needs is an Escudo Pikes Peak.
when is your turn Jardier?
@@frantz4318 Im way too small person on youtube to be able to afford buying few cars and rebuild them sadly. Saving all money for future home right now :)
@@Jardier You deserve more subs man! I wish you the best of luck for your project
It is road legal, just not road nice.
Well, that’s a type of car any car enthusiast needs in his life.
Thank you for sharing!
Car Throttle is definitely gonna like the thumbnail haha

@@limeaid5454 at this point im not even sure the phil miata exists anymore. I dont get why he doesnt produce any content with it

God who doesn't love ITB's on an Mx5! We going to see videos of this on track?
Ye boii seat time is OP
We just gotta keep driving
Subscribe to this man. Good RUclips man
Subscribe to DannyDC2, maybe the most realistic self mechanicing car RUclipsrs...real highs and lows.
This is one of the reasons why I watch you (and have MASSIVE respect for you), you havent just stuck to pumping out virtual racing video's, you've grasped an opportunity to realise your dream, do it for real and brought us along for the ride. It's been cool to watch the journey so far and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress next year.
I swear Jimmy is just becoming an Initial D character and I’m all for it
I couldn't drive a car with ITBs. I wouldn't be able to behave. That little Mazda sounds fantastic
Can't say it enough, thanks for being such an inspiration jimmer. From mental health to the impossible odds you overcome it always pushes me to do better. So proud of you even all the way over from Florida.
God damn it Jimmy you're such a tease! Can't wait to hear what's planned for next year
"You might have noticed that I have a massive knob right here" sounds like it's probably one of Jimmer's go-to chat-up lines.
Allways feel like the most fun cars here in the uk are slow cars that feel fast , had my share of fast stuff but most fun I've had in a car is my rx-7FD or the old type r I had on country roads dont have to go fast to feel like your going fast it's hard to explain. Love the mx5 and nice to see an na tuned one for a change rather that super charged or turbo
A fellow fd owner. How's the rebuilds going?
@@freddarau ironically it is currently undergoing a rebuild but its first one coolant seals went 😭
@@SirPigeonThe3rdOfDunecaster just underwent my 3rd rebuild a mouth ago, tho shes lived in two countries and over 120k miles haha, plus I drive it a bit to hard.
To be honest, everyone thinks they are a chad race god but 99+% of people doesn't even have the skill to drive a sportscar fast. It always makes me cringe to see someone buy a souped up car and think that means they can race now. While a true fast driver can outdrive them in a Ford Transit, to reference Sabine there.
@@hkr667 RIP Sabine, she was a awesome driver, and that is still my favorite top gear episode ever.
I would definitely be up for joining on a Track Day! Great idea!
"You might have noticed that I have a massive nob right here." - Jimmer (2021)
i think he needs a bent one, so its nearer the wheel :p
3:47 Ladies and gentlemen, safety.
yeah,
the "always"-moment of having the steering wheel under good control.
So spot on! I have a 240whp supercharged miata and it makes a helluva noise. For very short periods of time because otherwise I'm speeding. It's fun, but rarely usable. Being able to hear that intake run up the rpm is such a treat. I agree that 180-200hp area is a sweet spot in these cars. Also, your message at the end, we are all so stoked for your journey! Well deserved for such a nice person. I hope you continue to have a great time and continued success!
One of my favorite things about my stock Miata is that I can floor it all the time and row through a couple gears without going stupid fast.
That's the thing. You don't need 700 horsepower to have fun in a car.
I love seeing your smile when you put down the throttle Jimmy, it's one of the purest things on car RUclips. Keep being awesome☺️
I'm so excited to see where the IRL driving goes. The Praga season was an incredible journey, and the Mint MX5 has been a fascinating project
6:32 A22 southbound towards hailsham
i love that piece of Road, Jimmer
ITBs are the best sounding way to go slightly quicker. Love the intake noise 😍.
Also definitely down for some track time, that would be cool!
Love it. I've got an NA6 V Spec Eunos on Jenvey ITBs with Piper 285 cams and a ported head. Made 150bhp at the crank so yours is making good numbers from that VVT motor. I nearly went down the turbo route but ended up with ITBs as I feel it's in keeping with the car more.
Dan’s content has been amazing this year just driving all the time. Seat time is the way to go for sure.
Just passing by to say Jimmy I love how humble you are and how far you've come looking forward to all the fun content and hopefully seeing your career grow stay safe and always remember when in doubt flat out!!
A humble and thankful man doing what he loves…such a great journey and story that I believe everyone can take something from. You’ve been a huge inspiration and I continue to love the videos and progress you make along the way. As long as you’re happy and doing what you enjoy the true fans will be happy to follow you along the way. Cheers, and best of luck to all the future endeavors! Much love jimmer!
Also, this makes me miss my mx-5 terribly. Need to scoop another. Regardless of how slow it might be in a straight line, the way they handle a backroad is like no other.
Announcing the track days you go to could work out great, it'd be cool to meet you. But it could come back to bite you as well- even people with the best intentions might get a bit carried away and send it too hard on track, and no one wants to see you get punted irl.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the racing next year 👍
Might cause issues with the trackday org, too. "when this guy shows up, a bunch of amateur fans show up too" so definitely think it through.
@@khawajadotd that's a good point, yeah. It would be fine if they behave and are sensible, but there will always be one who decides to show off lol
You see it a lot in streamed races too, where some guy in P34 drives slow till the streamer laps them and then starts to defend like crazy or punts him off, just for some attention. It's a shame that we can't have nice things.
While it may be great and I think he should try it, if I were Jimmy I would at least inform the track organization and respect their wishes if they ask him not to.
Exactly my thoughts. I need to do a UK vacation when Jimmy's yeeting it around somewhere, I'd love to see all that for myself
@@koli0842 at the Britcar races you can spectate, it's pretty good value. If he's still in Britcar, that is. I have a feeling he'll be racing elsewhere, think I remember him saying he won't be in the Praga any more 🤔
Amazing mate, sounds bloody glorious! I plan to do ITBs to my jdm mk1 1.6 at some point but engine wise a VVT swap would make a lot of sense for me so considering that first. Spent all the monies on weeb wheels, suspension, roll bars and seats/harnesses this year. Did Llandow circuit this year in July with mighty5s and it was such a chill event, booked in for same next year its a great track for sub 200hp 5s.
shame blink motorsport is no more their optimised head and power packages were perfect for me
There's just nothing like the sound of ITBs. This is a perfect combination to enjoy the sounds and sensations without instantly going to jail for excessive speeding.
I'd love a trackday with you guys, currently trying to stupidly n/a tune my 2.0 merc 190 with some twin carbs and a cam... be nice to get it on track with some sticky tyres
Nice! Can't wait to see more of you out on the track!
You give us some excellent sMileage, Jimmy!! PLEASE keep us up-to-date on your track days!!
I hate car RUclipsrs they act like they are kings but I have a soft spot for uncle jimmy he went from living in a shed to thanking his fans so humble of a human being
Love it Jimmer, that little MX5 is going to be a blast on the circuit and you deserve every minuet of it. Love your vids and watching your progress as a real life racing driver has been the coolest shit on youtube, keep it up my man :)
Love the journey you are on. Keep it up!
In the early 2000's I had Blitz ITBs on a B18C swapped CRX. The throttle felt like an on/off switch. So much fun and loved the sound. Closest music to a DCOE engine.
I think announcing track days would be awesome! Going to my first track day next Monday (weather permitting), would be cool to see yourself and other fans of the channel :)
Been watching both Jimmy and Danny for a long time. My MR2 Roadster has about the same power as this with a 2ZZ swap and it is indeed ample for the road. Mine only goes like this above 6000 and redlines at 8200 but I'm hoping an ecu and tune will make it more drivable.
Amazing to see Jimmer!
It's so damn exciting and inspiring seeing you move up the ranks of racing and life!
Sounds incredible! Love 4 cylinder noises
Great video! Thanks!
As well as track racing and practice and all that, I'd love to see you do some rally next year.
Big congrats Jimmer. All of this could not have happened to a nicer guy. Looking forward to seeing all the 2022 on track action.
Came for the sim stuff but im staying for the real life stuff.
What a fun car to drive! Great video Jim :)
i had a mk2 miss it every day. had to let it go the wells rust faster then i could weld. Also other small things stopped working like my door windows etc. It loved the corners. i had a mk1 hardtop on it much better vieuw than the soft top in the rear. It was the best handling car i ever had!
That thing sounds fantastic for stock cams. ITBs are magic but really surprised at the intake bark. Great little thing Jimmer, you're going to have some serious fun!
P.S. Turbos are for trucks. This post made by NA gang.
please do let us know about track days! I took my mx5 for fist one this year at Cadwell Park. Booking more next year! Would be amazing to see you at one!
Yes Jimmy, count me in for team trackdays, I also have a little mazda nc that is in need of some more track tome in 2022.
love it!!! can't wait for more of this car build
Great video! After watching it a question popped up in my mind; and that is: Have you heard of the mazdaspeed miata? As what you've described sounds very much like a mazdaspeed miata, expect better on tracks and worse on roads.
Really loving the IRL content :D
That transit van on the carriageway stood no chance
I love these kind of videos form you.
NB2 1.8 with 6 speed is such a joyous combination, I have one myself (in the NB2 chassis) and it is an absolute dream.
Had the same Sparcos in my NB, such good and comfy seats!
Wahay for the DannyDC2 shout out, he deserves to have many more subscribers. Hopefully you two might be able to do some track days together next year.
Car sounds happy, Jimmy looks happy. We're happy!
I love these real life videos, keep it up
So jealous of this. Lovely car mate 👍
Track days when i can run with Jimmer in the BMW? I'm all up for that Jimmy.
Depends which track though but Donington is on the cards next year for certain.
Joining a track day would be epic 👀
We'd definitely be up for meeting up with you at a track day. Our new project should be about level with your MX-5 so would be good fun to chase you round a circuit.
rad little boi!! stoked for you dude. Once I've gotten the suspension and brakes on my mx5 I'm throwing a cammed and bodied Honda k24 into it. if a normally aspirated ITB miat is that fun at 180hp, I can't wait to see what mine's gonna be like with 250-260 at the tires screaming thru quads at 9,000rpm!
the Gran Turismo noise @ 0:46 love ittt!!!
To turn the steering easily on non power steering vehicles, you need to get it moving very slightly, like 0.5kmph will do
I imagine Jimmy, the real life racing driver, is in fact aware of this...
A fan track day would be SO GOOD! I am taking my stock MX5 MK1 to Brands next Saturday for my first track day. See you there? 🤔
I think a community track day is a fantastic idea!
Dam, she has gone far. 192 thousand miles.
New engine out the MK2.5 though
@@R03333 True, but most other things are 192 miles old though ;)
With jimmy's attitude there's no doubt that he'll become a really good racer
Throttle bodies are the way! Currently putting some from a gsxr bike on my nb, best noise ever
It's an MX-5 that is initial d spec. Beautiful.
Jimmy casually driving past my work haha. Saw you in your R32 a couple summers ago!
I do like your long knob Jimmer..the one on the car works well also.
Hey Jimmy, you can gently pull up on the back of the headlight covers to align them with the hood again.
great content!
Looking forward to viewing next years videos already.
We need many more "builds" like these. Everyone is going for those silly big horsepower builds meanwhile I'm sitting here enjoying those glorious itb noises.
Any plans for a detailed video about the build? Really interested to hear what it took to set up the itb. I know a guy who wants to do the same lol
Bro that itb sound is fire
God time to start RUclips up after a long day i see
Good stuff part of the gang now
I love the sound!!
the ITBs sound heavenly
That’s one smol speedy boi
I need an MX5 on ITB's, you can't beat a Four cylinder with ITB's. It's such a raw sound
I get a sick satisfaction blasting past mx5s when I see them because they're so slow, but they're definitely a great driver's car.
Lovely car mate! Do you have any chassis bracing on it?
can't wait! ❤
The cardigan returns! You love to see it.
Cool sim. Good graphics.
I love the car! (But you gotta fix your headlight cover to hood alignment)
Hello jimmy. What size is the steering wheel in ur new mx5 ?
Nice to see can't wait for the content !
Great video as always. How many cars (in total) do you own now?
track day bro!
really though, thats a touge beast.... [eurobeat intensifies]
Calling MTech tomorrow to do my NB engine swap. And yes, let's do that track day Jimmer
Love it! now you have to flip it to be a real mx5
Should write out a full spec list for us one day!
