Branden is my favorite drummer of all time. His drumming in Misery Signals is unlike anything I've ever quite heard. His unique style adds both a heart and a heaviness that plays a big role in defining them as a band. He would have been better defined behind the set at a Misery Signals show. But hey, it's still good to see him in the spotlight.
+Nathan Thompson I think a big part of his sound is that he approaches a traditional drum education in a different way when applying it to "heavy" music. Most drummers with a wide knowledge of drumming fundamentals always approach things the same way and it just ends up sounding like every progressive metal record to drop in the past 3 years. He's grown so much and his drumming on Absent Light is phenomenal.
+bokunotraplord The mixing of Absent Light is nowhere near Controller, I think that's what keeps me from fully appreciating the album and his drumming on it as much as Controller but I'll give it another listen.
Dude what in the actual fuck credit is due to Brendan Morgan! But nobody ever talks of the hard work Kyle Johnson put in to assemble, 7 angels 7 plagues fucking amazing band! To just repeat and assemble another gem in misery signals!
Mini_legitz_brokexx Jared Logan the drummer of 7A7P was supposedly the founder of the band (he is also an amazing drummer in his own right) but he left the band which pretty well dissolved it and so Ryan (Branden’s brother) and Kyle Johnson went on to form MS with Branden. I agree tho Kyle Johnson is often overlooked. He’s actually an extremely talented bassist
To know Branden more as a drummer listen to Misery Signals - Of Malice And The Magnum Heart album. The non-predictability, solidity of his polyrhythmic grooves , inverted paradiddles is what got me to want to keep playing kit till this day.
Hands down, one of the most under appreciated and most talented drummers in music.
for sure dude
