Great video and great timing! Just started this process. Thanks for the tips. I like seeing both pages like you had set up. Treating page 1&2 as its own page to deliver a good reading experience. And that 180 rule is something I’ll keep in mind.
Hi 👋 A long time fan here I’ve been following your videos for literally 10 years ! I ended up not becoming a Mangaka, but a 3D vehicle Artist instead:p, you impacted Artist in a lot of fields not just manga or animation. Get this man to a million subs💯
@@purplebear2306 Same with me just that mine is a comic I also hope to publish mine too Good luck to you U re a chad I would love to read ur manga, what's the name btw
Thanks for the tips. I'm trying to rework how I storyboard to make it faster. I'm trying to move away from storyboarding on paper and go back to digital with certain exceptions. So I'm looking forward to trying this out soon.
This was very helpful to see! I begin storyboarding in August and I know I'm gonna suck at it, but I think that's part of the journey. Seeing your process for creating each page, adding notes, drawing alternative poses is such a great idea. Thank you for the video 💜
I’m glad you never gave up been following since your veryyyyy early days around 2014 ect it’s nice to see your hard work is paying off and your art has Improved dramatically. Keep up the good work and maybe one day both of our manga will be side by side together in stores worldwide~
Thank you so much for hitting all of these more specific topics on making these, I’m trying to get better at making manga/comics cause it’s really what I’m passionate about doing, and you’re helping out a lot
THIS IS FUCKING GOLD! as a experienced artist but a newbie with the comic scene im creating my own original comic. This video has cleared things up after thinking this process myself. Thank you again for this!
Thanks for the tips Whyt! I've always wondered what makes a good composition. How do you decide the shape of the panels or whether a panel bleeds off the page or not? Do you have a general rule for that?
Can I ask how big your storyboard file is (in pixels), I assume the whole canvas is for 20 pages (one chapter) ? My storyboards are detailed too but it seems my canvas is way too small, compared to yours. So my details tend to be very blurry anyway, and I also think about using them like proper sketches to ink on them directly, to save up more time. Thanks for this very helpful tips, especially about skipping drawing the panels you don't want to focus on yet, I tend to do it but I was not thinking about writing short descriptions in the panels and sometimes I do forget later what I wanted to draw in them, so at least writing smth in them is going to help me ❤
Appreciate the video 👌 If I may ask, that setup function for pages is exclusive to the EX version of Clip studio, right? Any substitute I could use or should I just focus on my storyboards?
I'm a procreate user and I'm actually thinking of making a big canvas and draw myself the pages template? The process of making the template can be boring but at least once its done I can use it always
These are really good tips, but my problem with laying out panels is drawing the panel outlines themselves. I saw your video on it, but I'm still honestly confused on how to properly draw panels, especially splash pages. I'm a traditional artist btw, I suck with digital art.
Not exactly. it's up to you ultimately you can start anywhere but it depends on you and how it'll be printed. for the inside front cover is blank and then there are still pages like table of content etc before a chapter cover and THEN the pages, I explored different approaches, especially in my more recent chapters. my volumes are in the description if interested.
Clip Studio Paint is usually the best All in one Manga an illustrator software. I switched from using photoshop and Paint tool Sai and I'm loving clip studio for the real time color blending on the paint tool brushes and the build it manga tools.
i love all your videos but can you make a 1 time subscription where you make real time videos on how you/we can put our stories into panels/what all types of panels are used for what. And of course best way to put in background etc all in real time because i know i will pay for it as long as its affordable since ik i want to start creating my own manga while improving since i got alot of story ideas that i can create on top of my head very easy.
i wanna set up my storyboards like how u did in this video and also know the sizes of the pens and what pen u use to storyboard on csp would be great to know 🫡

what a god send
I really need his storyboarding template!!
it's on my gumroad.

Thank You
Whenever I try to write a script for my comic there are scenes that sound somewhat episodic but I want this over arching story
How do you prepare for drawing and sketching a one manga panel?
Sometimes I add panels or I delete some dialogues
Do you have the storyboard template set up available for download or purchase?
Stay tuned, will be adding it to my Gumroad very soon!

you saw these ones? ruclips.net/video/NA2FQ_ZQ7NQ/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/N3EFKvzlgAI/видео.html&ab_channel=WhytManga
@WhytMangaOdunze yeah, I saw those, and I'm aware on how to plan out the panels, it's just actually drawing the outline that gets me messed up.
Shouldn't the first page of your story be on a right page? If it started on a left hand page it would start on the inside front cover right?
Not exactly. it's up to you ultimately you can start anywhere but it depends on you and how it'll be printed. for the inside front cover is blank and then there are still pages like table of content etc before a chapter cover and THEN the pages, I explored different approaches, especially in my more recent chapters. my volumes are in the description if interested.
Hi, What are the fiont size you used for regular texts? Thank you
If you have any opinions on the does and don'ts on double page spreads that would be great
That's great help!
So I have a question, where can I start to create manga in the first step to the final step?
Clip Studio Paint is usually the best All in one Manga an illustrator software. I switched from using photoshop and Paint tool Sai and I'm loving clip studio for the real time color blending on the paint tool brushes and the build it manga tools.
