    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    This is the Case Fan Sleeving Guide to the sleeving series I have started to promote sleeving of PSU and computer cables in general. And help everyone sleeve a bit better!
    This video will show you how to sleeve a Cafe Fan with MDPC Sleeving. Other types of sleeving can be used, but you will need to take in consideration the melting point of the heatshrink as well as the diameter. This is also true for the sleeving as well.

    I'm about to sleeve my box for the first time, and I must have watched 10 videos of chumps doing this in 5 minutes. I'm glad you took the time to slow down and show a new guy what all you should do, but also what all not to do. I know learning by experience is the best way... But I'm on a college kid budget. XD Thanks for the great videos!

    thanks for the video sleeved a ton of fans never quiet got the sleeve butt up to the end but that crazy glue trick worked awesome didn't have sata heat shrink but looks a hell of alot better butted up against the connector with the heat shrink and the sleeve wont slide down that video was very helpful thank you. Kevin ( you never stop learning )

    Using these exact tools I was able to do my first sleeves. I was nervous about extracting the pins from the fan connectors but the exacto blade worked great, now I can get it every time. Thank you!

    If you guys don't have a Dremel you could just heat the xacto and cut it white the hot knife, the plastic will melt and it will be very easy to cut!

    thank you sooooooo much for doing those tutorials man! Even though I do not actually do sleeving, it is soo useful for fixing sleved cables like those you find on good quality peripherals because most of them are sleeved and it is so easy to turn it into a horible mess. But thanks to you, my headset cable fix actually looks good and will probably last longer than the original!
    You rock!

    Always enjoy your videos, very informative. So informative, probably takes business away..lol. I'm getting ready to build a gaming rig in a Velka 3, and will be using your tutorials to make all of my own cables for that added personal touch and better cable management, if that's even possible in such a small case. I would love to see something on customizing a flex atx PSU with tips from the guru. I will be cutting a lot of the unnecessary cables, replacing the fan in the unit with a Noctua, and cutting the remaining cables to the correct length, then will finish it off with Paracord sleeving. I'm thinking Paracord for the flexibility in a very tight space will be more beneficial since it will not be seen inside the case. All of those ideas have come from your inspiration, mixed with my lack of understanding of what I'm about to get myself in to. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!

    Really Great Video. Both ends look really clean compared to shrink tube with wires showing that is usually out there... I am getting ready to completely re-wire my Stryker Cased Asus Maximus VI Formula, from the 1200 Watt Full Modular Power Supply to each component within my system. There are so many methods out there for Sleeving that I was unsure which direction to go.... Now that I know how I want it too look (after watching your video) I Cant Wait To Get Started!!!

    Great video Lutro0. I use hot glue rather than superglue as it dries clear and is flexible. It is also forgiving as you can fix mistakes. For thin wires such as case headers I use 3mm heat shrink on the wire so it sits under the sleeving. It gives a bit more grip .

    Awesome detailed guide there on how to sleeve any bare cable and Fan wiring. Be ordering some parts from LutroO's site for sleeving cables for my new build for the fans which is allot that currently have bare wiring.

  • @HardwareAddiction
    @HardwareAddiction 11 лет назад

    Btw, my solution for shrinking the connector on fans that do not have consolidated wires, is using another piece of 15mm pre-cut, which you slide right up to the connector, and then you use a 20mm sata shrink that covers half of the connector and sort of half of the pre-cut. The result is a good looking and VERY strong end. It's also nicer if you color combo the pre-cut and sata, rather than using black shrink for both. :)

  • @HardwareAddiction
    @HardwareAddiction 11 лет назад

    I'd chop the first pin that holds the cable from the soldering. Really isn't that needed now that I have done some fan sleeving and having another look at this video. :)
    Also, the super-glue method is super nice and genuine, but kinda hard to do on fans that have the wires separated which is the major selection of fans.
    Btw, it's funny how this video is the ONLY proper fan sleeving guide video. All others just noob out doing bad job. I can't believe how much I learnt from your videos Mike. :)

    Just sleeved a Noctua NF-F12. It has some kind of sleeving out of the box but it doesn't go all the way up to the fan so there's a few centimeters of bare colored wire.
    Was a bit worried first as the fan didn't spin but then checked this video again and realized that the wires were wrong way around in the connector :P

    Yes! This is just what I needed. Been sleeving fans for a long time and I've always hated that damn transition from the wire to the sleeve. Looks like absolute shit. Going to be doing this on my next set of fans. Thanks! Also, you know they make tiny heat guns just for doing heat shrink like this so you don't bugger up the connectors. They're much better than using a lighter.

    You can´t see the brown connector anyway when it is heatshrink sleeved. Nice to know it can fit all the way onto. Putting it on a little bit of the connector´s lenght would not work, because it would slip off.

    Ok, this might be a stupid question, but getting a bits cared and desperate. I sleeved y EK DDC pump and now when I run it it doesn't respond to the PWM signal from the motherboard at all, always run at 100%. I pulled the wires to make sure they were correctly attached and when I put the header back in I no longer even got a RPM signal. With the "notched" (notches around the 3 wires used in DC control) I put the green to the far left (outside the notches) which should be the PWM wire and the blue next to it (which should be the RPM), this is exactly like it was when I first got it.
    But now I wonder if I inserted the wires incorrectly in the header? Which way are the "loops" on the connectors supposed to go in the header, facing up towards to "notched side" with slits, or down towards the plain side of the connector? Is there anything I can do to make sure there is a good connection with the motherboard header pins?
