I did this for the 1st time, to my 2 year and 8 month old Betta, Delphine. It was hard but it was so fast I was grateful I did it.

🥰 Hello 😊...I just wanted to say 'thank you so much' for creating this video - your descriptions & methods are bang on & I'm sure any viewers who are stressing out because of an ill or dying fish/aquatic pet in their tank & they don't know what to do, will be very grateful too!
    😊
I've been keeping tropical fish for many years 30+
But today, New Years Day '24 - I awoke to see one of my gorgeous Black Venezuelan Cory's upside down and floating in the current - now normally I'd use the priest method & bash it - not nice but very quick when placed in a pipe.
But today I thought I'd ask the web, just incase someone had a more peaceful method for the arduous task of ending a fishes life, at home.
    😥
It's something I hate doing, but I keep many pets & I understand that as a pet owner I must step up to the plate & be caring and responsible during these sad times..a responsibility I have seen so many shirk just when their pet needs them most - I'll happily step in & do the right thing, even for others & have done & will undoubtedly do again.
    💚🥰
So when I watched your great video, I was over the moon when I got to the part about clove oil👏
If only this simple bit of information had been spread across the globe instead of the horrible freezing to death method..
    😭🥶
Imagine how much nicer it would have been for all concerned..
    So I thank you, once more😊for your kindness & thoughtfulness & I wish you a very Happy New Year's too'❤ 🎉Jason 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💦🩵🐠

Currently sobbing while watching this. Had an epistylis outbreak from a new fish, he died and made all my fish sick, specially my yoyo loaches, oh man. Those two are suffering so much i gotta do this. No treatment has worked on them im afraid.
    Thank you for this.

Guilty of the freezing method. Will employ this method going forward. Thanks for bringing this subject up. 👍

We have all done things certain ways in the past before learning of better ways. I've killed a few fish growing up because I didn't know any better at the time. Thank you for the comment!

Hi again Ellie. Had to put down an emaciated angel today. I used the clove oil method and it truly is the best option I’ve come across. I added a few drops to 20 millilitres of warm water, put the angel in a litre of aquarium water then added the mixture. This rendered the poor thing into a gentle sleep. After 20 minutes I added about 15 more drops and within 20 minutes it was over. As much as I disliked doing it I felt much better knowing the suffering was minimal and the fish is out of its misery. All thanks to your informative video. Thanks again. Ken

@@kenrooke9047 hi Ken, I'm so sorry to hear you had to euthanize a pet. That's always horrible. But I'm also really glad that he didn't suffer in the end and died peacefully. I'm so happy that I could help. Thank you for sharing this with me! I really appreciate it.

Clove oil does seem like a humane way to do it. What about the method with alcohol? You are supposed to put 30-60 ml of vodka or some other drink with 40-45% of alcohol in 950 ml of water ....that is supposed to sedate the fish and then after 10 minutes you add more vodka and wait.....make sure the fish is dead and that is it....
I did that today and I feel horrible...but little thing was suffering and was getting worse every day, despite me trying to cure it...I think it was wasting disease (not sure it's called that way) ...the fish was losing weight and was really skinny and today, started to swim kinda...strange...i tried medication but had no success 😢
It was a small galaxy rasbora....
The worst thing is that I think there are 2 more that are sick, but they still eat and swim and look much better than this one....
I hope they will be ok,I can't do this again 😢

OMG, some people are cruel. I usually remove the fish and put them in separate tank and hope for the best. Once deceased I’ll put them in the trash. I don’t have the heart to speed up the process. Thanks for the content.

That's great if you have a hospital tank! It would have made things a lot easier if everyone had a spare tank. Thank you for the comment 😊

The fish are suffering how many fish have died because you put it in a separate tank and it sat in there and suffered how many fish have actually recovered and you were able to replace them back in their original tank. You don't know what the fish could have or how it feels or if it's in pain.

Putting a fish in a separate tank and 'hoping for the best", that's cruelty. Of course, we don't euthanize as soon as it is ill. But most problems are unsolvable anyway, especially with small animals like fish.

@michaelbyfield6323 right. I want to see the statistics for the "fish that got healthy" vs the "fish that withered away, alone."
