Very well done video Cash! I'm a fan of the Buffalo- even with the 10 dollar premium over the ASE. To be honest, we only need one US gold coin, so if they just made the ASE 9999 pure, that would solve the issue, imo! I think 9999 is important for liquidity- Canada and there tax structure favors 9999 pure and pretty much all other mints now feature 9999 coins- Perth, RCM, RM and so on.

I have a gold 1oz Canadian cougar. It has a 200 dollar face value unlike other gold that have 50 dollar face value and boasts 99999 of gold purity. No other one has that that I know of.
I would have to say it goes back to supply and demand. With the lower mintage on the Buffalo and the lack of options by weight they are more rare than the AGE causing the supply to be much lower. Love the buffaloes I just added a buffalo a $20 Saint gaudens and a $20 Liberty head to my stack this week. Doesn't matter what you buy as long as you buy.
I bought both and love both. If I had to choose between them, I’d choose to keep the buffalos, just based on the purity and overall looks. I keep them in capsules, so damaging them is not an issue. Also, the higher premium doesn’t matter to me when buying in small quantities.
Buffalo all the way. It is gold in colour and gold in truth. The copper makes the Eagle look like jeweler's rose gold, which is not my preference. I also happen to like the Perth Mint 1 ounce cast gold "button" bar -- not fancy, cheaper than the Buffalo, and very sweet in design -- it looks like a 24 caret Chiclet.
I buy both. The premium on the Gold Buffalo is returned when / if you sell them. I like the design of the Buffalo better, but the reeded edges are cut poorly. The Series 1 AGEs are a better overall quality coin and I almost always receive a Series 1 if I buy a random date coin. I recently purchased a random date Buffalo from Bullion Exchanges for less than a random date AGE. I will be unboxing it on my channel tomorrow.
One reason that folks somehow think they're getting a "better" coin with the Buffalo is that it's rated at 24K gold--meaning that a Buffalo is 1.0 ounce of pure gold. What your average Joe still doesn't understand is that a gold Eagle **also** contains 1.0 ounce of pure 24K gold. The ONLY difference is that the Eagle contains **additional metal**--0.9 ounces of a silver/copper alloy that adds much greater durability to the coin--bringing its total weight to 1.09 ounces. (That's why it's 22K gold rather than 24K... even though it STILL CONTAINS 1.0 ounce of pure 24K gold.) Another reason that many folks will pay more for the Buffalo is that it's rated at .9999 pure gold, as opposed to the Eagle at .999. Guess what? That's a marketing gimmick. The difference between .999 and .9999 is literally nine ten-thousandths. That's a statistical blip. In other words, the difference between .999 and .999 is virtually infinitesimal. But there's a sucker born every minute, so what can you do? I really wish that the U.S. mint did a better job of educating people about what they're selling.

When you buy the Gold Buffalo - you are paying for the design, the quality, the purity, and the low mintage maybe even the weight ( it's only available in 1 oz - let's forget 2008 when they made fractionals ). In contrast, when you buy the Eagle you are buying that coin to accumulate or stack gold the quickest fastest way- that's why it's available in fractionals too for those that cannot afford to buy the 1 oz. I guess I see the Buffalo made for the true gold collector, a once in a lifetime item and the Eagle as a more generic gold bullion coin for the stacker. You cannot go wrong buying both. If I could afford it, I would buy both.

when you sell back your buffalo it will demand a higher premium as well so your getting your premium cost right back so technically no your not getting ripped off

Go try to sell some right now if you don't believe me. Buy the cheapest gold and silver that you can find because it all sells for the same when you need to unload some of it.

No ripoff with Buffs - Dealers often pay a higher (~1%) premium for Buffs over Eagles, which more than makes up for the higher original cost.

Though it contains trace amounts of silver/copper, there is still 1 full Troy ounce of gold there. Test the theory on a scale that measures in grams.
