Another big thing thats a red flag for the hour glass shadows for me, is from what people are saying, the singles are not magnetics. By itself i guess thats not huge, but its also the shape, They are raised at an angle, and thick. Which i would assume means that even if you have just the single, and not the tin, they wouldnt fit in any empty palette, since those are all designed for pans that are flat. So that would mean you HAVE to by the tin if you wanted these shadows. Its outrageous.
Thats exactly what they wanted to do... & its literally floppy and sooo cheapy not close to luxurious at all.... they were fine with their oroginal eyeshadows. They need to focus on upgrading their complecion powders before even thinking about shadow, its what the brand is known for
Hourglass has plummeted in my personal brand rankings. Not gonna lie, that belle compact was pretty cute. There must be “a” market, but it can’t be that big, considering they’re limited edition and don’t seem to be big batches, right? Like, I get making the makeup in small batches, but they can make more batches.

About Besame, it seems like they have taken the step away from makeup as makeup, a product to use and play with, to makeup as a collector's item to collect and keep and admire. Merchandise
From reviews, Hourglass curator palette is housed in a cheap tin, the compact doesn’t close properly, the shadows aren’t magnetic and the eyeshadow is nothing special. Claiming they are highly pigmented is a joke. They are average at best. And the thing, you picked out 5 pans and what they will do is discontinue your favorite shades so being able to refill is questionable. And they will most likely come out with limited edition shades so you will have to keep purchasing and making palettes bc for this to be profitable for HG they have to keep you buying. This is not economical or environmentally sound but just more greedy capitalism and it makes no sense. For 5 grams of product you will pay $161 US (before taxes) . Their 5 pan premade gives you 7 grams and it is only $58 US. Such a rip off. HG completely shot themselves in the foot with this concept and they are more expensive than ND, TF, PML and Chantecaille but you get way less product!!
You don't get much more product with Chantecaille, that is also overpriced and overhyped. Their shadows were very disappointing. If you wanna splash out, Victoria Beckham's eyeshadow is bomb.
I actually like the way Basema is doing their Disney collabs, unlike some other brands that just put the pictures on the packaging and release a ton of subpar products. The Besame products look like that there was actually some work put into their design.
@@autumnautopsy I'd still say it is much more nicer looking than what Makeup Revolution and some other drugstore brands does with their Disney collabs.

The Hourglass pans should've been at least 2.5 grams a piece like ND, Viseart or Inglot! The prices are ridiculous for 1 gram of shadow! No thank you! I think they are just trying to sell their other palettes and get people talking about them. PR stunt!
I’m thinking it’s a PR stunt too. Outrage marketing. They will have a limited stock and will quietly disappear but you are talking about HG and buying from them again lol I mean people pay ridiculous $$ for cosmetics but they still want a reason for spending more. Like give us more grams per pan, fancier packaging or special textures or unique shades. HG did NONE of that. So offensive on so many levels!
You can tell by the colors that they are marketing to rich, older women. They know their business. The middle class has collapsed so they had to pick cheap or expensive.
Ah, the Hourglass makes no sense at all. The packaging is shit, the shadows are ok, but how on earth can they justify that price... They're not made of gold or even a quite heavy compact.
I’ve felt the packaging, I shit you not... it’s exactly like an altoids tin.... they seriously think anyone is that stupid to spend that much for a container of that low quality?!?!
As an MRC fan who actually likes Danger Days, I'd love to have that collection just to display it. But at that price, with products that I'm not going to use... I'm gonna pass. I'll pick up that pin set though, because like... I can actually wear the pins and get some use out of them. Those lipsticks... ugh...
I see what Hailey meant when she mentioned sexfoil is an actual shape, but considering this shape is nowhere in the design, I think that Melt was clearly going for the "sex" part of that word, just for the cheekiness of it.
Yeah it's called sexfoil because sex is Latin for six. But just the fact alone that they split the term into two words to make the "sex" stand out more says all. It's quite off-putting, they're really pulling a TooFaced here
Okay I am ready for hatred: I would like to leave this here, tho: I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin ESPECIALLY on my eyelids and seeing that more and more brands are becoming vegan is just terrifying for me. Not to mention I am not wealthy, and therefore I prefer to use my makeup up to 3 years, not 9 months. With the exception of one luxury vegan brand, literally everything else gave me a burnt, a stain, a breakout, a hive and an ambulance once. Just so those, whose skin can actually take vegan shit, know that it might only be borderline tolerance and that it might accumulate after 10+ years of vegan beauty or might make your skin become sensitive because it'll run out of resistance as you age. Had to say this, because the brainwashing of clean beauty mark. Thank you very much for your time.
I’ve had similar experiences & now I have to to test swatch all vegan pigments & let them sit like a patch test type scenario , ever since my first scary experience really opened my eyes. I hear you loud & clear!
Thank you for posting this. I try to be vegan in my diet but I don't rly consider the products I use and I don't have a problem with beeswax. I think it's great to hear your experiences and it sounds like non vegan products work better for your skin. I had no idea that the ingredients could cause so much distress. Any normal 'vegan' should be able to understand not everyone can commit to the diet or lifestyle, and there's a multitude of factors that can contribute to that decision.
@@Clemonade23BX not sure about op, but my sister is allergic to red dye and can’t use vegan warm toned eyeshadows. Any shade that is marked ‘not safe for eyes’ caused a horrible reaction that lasts for over a week.

What an insult to consumers, hopefully no one buys them and consumers are able to send a message that we aren’t dumb to these companies that keep trying to scam the hell out of customers
Just bought Huda products. Those highlighters are nice, but I already have several highlighters and have been rocking the dewy, skin tint light foundation, and bronzed look all summer, especially since I’ve just off of vacation and I rocked bright pastel and neon eyeshadows on each vacation day I got. Summer is the only time I wear all the bright colors, where in spring I stay in light pastel and rose or pink themed or purple/ lavender type colors. Glad fall is coming, I’m dusting off my Anatasia palette and starting to design some makeup looks for the fall in earth toned colors.
I hate that Glisten photoshopped the pale arm swatches onto the arm with darker skin. How is a darker skinned person supposed to really see how the colours would actually work on them?
I'm really tempted by the Flip Lip Glosses, but I'm a bit sad that they seems to turn darker in the sun, rather than brighter. I usually put brights colours when it's sunny, and darker colours when the weather is not good and I'm stuck inside... Will maybe try them anyway, haha!
Here's my issue with the Hourglass shadows- who is their customer for a $50 single?! That is beyond luxury pricing and I don't know how that decision made it out of the board room. They are just pissing off and alienating their customer base.
The only reason I have a vice lipstick is bc it was the first “fancy” “expensive” lipstick when I first started getting into makeup and I just love the specific color I got since I thought about which one to get for quite a few months
Yeah I still have a few from yrs back because I liked the shades. They had a good range. And they werent crazy expensive like some. Like Nars for example. (Though i love their formula.)

I have the huda blush! It’s like stylishly merrys big lilac sister. I was like hmm, are the similar? Nope. Stylishly merry is more gold with pink shift. While huda has more of a pink(with lilac shimmer) and a soft gold flip. It’s really pretty!
The Physician Formula bronzers all have new & different smells. The Donut is for the fairer complexion, next Cookie is suitable for light skintones, while Coffee is for Tan- poss Rich skintones. Cake has a shimmer strip ideal for summer bronzing for medium to poss tan complexions.
I didn't notice, besides a bronzer they wouldn't buy for being too big, did they like any makeup this month? They seemed to hate all makeup again. I'm glad I watch Angelica Nyquist, she posts every Friday and still loves makeup. Very positive.
I have to agree, I prefer Angelica nowadays. The constant negativity and bashing from the BN girls gets tedious and repetitive. If you don't like makeup anymore, just drop it and move on. I think this was my last BN episode, in this covid day and age I think I prefer a bit more upbeat commentary by someone who actually likes makeup. Shame since I have been here for years, but now I want a bit more of light and excitement. Angelica is a good balance imo and funny to watch.
oh she got her teeth done! !!! can we have a video on that? how do they feel? did it hurt? how much did it cost? how long was recovery? are the clip on/glued on? or screwed into the jaw? very curious. they look stunning!
On Hourlgass- from the video y’all had it also says the packaging is made from recycled plastic. How do they then go and charge that much for recycled plastic and eyeshadow dust. 🤔
🤎☕🍩 of course the butter bronzer The BEST bronzer release are the haticeschmidt bronzers (and highlighters). Btw the same girl who does the berlin girl glow but now she does makeup with her own brand
Funfact: Now that they relaunched Kylie Cosmetics is available in Germany for the first time! I guess it's due to the reformulation. I think previously their products were not up to Germanys standards of ingredients or something along those lines.
🤎☕️🍩 Physicians Formula bronzer bore! I always get excited when I see there’s still time left in the video and you start to wrap up hahaha. I know old mate Jeff is about to try and crawl into relevance again.
I have always defended hourglass. I always said that they release stuff for quality and that you pay for that. However this release has completely turned me off buying from them ever again. Such a stupid way to completely ruin your brand.
The point about Hipdot is really good... if it is a merchandise brand, no point in discussing about them in the make up community. You don't see companies that make band t-shirts being discussed in the fashion vlogs.
I love watching Beauty News! You guys provide such concise information for the releases of the last month 🤎 P.S. I ALWAYS keep watching the post emoji end of these episodes just to hear you both express the same level of annoyance I feel toward JS 😂
One of my favorite lipsticks is UD sheer in Morning After. I FAR prefer the bullet casing package. And their sheer formula. The problem is they don't have enough shades that I would wear in it. Also- emoji = Butter Bronzers!
Kat, your lipstick this episode is lovely! Such a flattering dusty pink on you. It has been "national lipstick day" here in the US and Ulta is bombarding me with promotion emails 😂💄
I love it too. We had the lipstick day here in Greece too. Yesterday, I was passing by Mac and the lipsticks were 12€. I bought three bullet lipsticks in various nude shades. Loved it. I now have 10 lipsticks in total. I actually have to finish one before I buy another one, cause ten is my limit. I don’t wanna hoard products.
@@Yolanda8419 Yesss, similar for me. I only buy lipsticks I can't easily mix the color myself, and if I reach for it a lot. So glad you found some lovelies! I think Mac "Whirl" is one of only two lipsticks I have ever repurchased. 😊
Actually the first hair clips from Colourpop were from the cherry collection, but this came right after so… but I am a little meh about the Powerpuff Girls collab. I think colored lip products would have made more sense, especially because of Him, instead of the lip masks. I love the High Tide palette, it might be my favorite 9 pan from them now. The Fresh Kiss lip stains are also impressive, don’t sleep on this formula! Urban Decay is just a sad, sad shell of their former self.
I like the look of the hourglass 5 pan palette. If it didn't cost my 1st born child I would totally buy that. Colourpop used to have a "create your own palette" thing which was affordable but I think they got rid of it.
Both hula lite and regular work on me as contour. Id imagine the caramel can be used as a bronzer. And maybe the darkest as a deeper contour. I'd be willing to try it out.
Not so much for the formula but I’m still obsessed with the lipstick shade wonderland from Urban Decay. I still have a back up ❤️ Also they definitely could have done way better with at least a tan and a deep tone of those butter bronzers but the Cake one from Physicians Formula is a deeper tone
My two cents on bite's "clean" lipsticks: the only dirty lipsticks we've seen in the last years were Jaclyn Hill's lipsticks.

Thanks for the clean beauty talk !!! 👏👏👏👏👏 not everybody knows….
Omgoodness, your hair looks like a duochrome eyeshadow, it's GORGEOUS!!!!! ❤️
I bought the high tide palette I'm loving it so far
you got me with the "so niche". A Jeff's Shed pallet would be hilarious. Would choose the ☕ from PF especially if it smelt of latte.
OH YAY I'M THE VIP 🥺💖💖💖💖 I LOVE YOU GUYS
oh she got her teeth done! !!! can we have a video on that? how do they feel? did it hurt? how much did it cost? how long was recovery? are the clip on/glued on? or screwed into the jaw? very curious. they look stunning!
On Hourlgass- from the video y’all had it also says the packaging is made from recycled plastic. How do they then go and charge that much for recycled plastic and eyeshadow dust. 🤔
I can hear Hayley’s neighborhood birds and I think I heard Kat’s baby? Lots of fun sounds 😆💖
🤎☕🍩 of course the butter bronzer
The BEST bronzer release are the haticeschmidt bronzers (and highlighters). Btw the same girl who does the berlin girl glow but now she does makeup with her own brand
Love this formatting ladies! Really good to have things a bit more summarised and structured in a way that differs a bit 👏🏻👏🏻
35:40 well...they are swatching over an existing swatch? So how accurate can it be?
Some things need layers and they're showing that.
Funfact: Now that they relaunched Kylie Cosmetics is available in Germany for the first time! I guess it's due to the reformulation. I think previously their products were not up to Germanys standards of ingredients or something along those lines.
Btw, we also don't have Colourpop here. So maybe there's something there.
I can’t wait to hear you roast hourglass 😂😂
🤎☕️🍩 Physicians Formula bronzer bore! I always get excited when I see there’s still time left in the video and you start to wrap up hahaha. I know old mate Jeff is about to try and crawl into relevance again.
Just figured I’d watch this cause I somehow missed it at the time. Besame is coming out with the rapunzel compact tonight!
I wish Beseme made more of the compacts... I don't want to fight people for a compact, but if I didn't have to I would purchase from them
The hourglass shadows better be flawless in formula!
Seen 2 reviews and they are not. They are ok, not worth the price. Watch Tara Lynn's video.
I love watching Beauty News! You guys provide such concise information for the releases of the last month 🤎
Also the hourglass shadows aren't magnetic so you can't just buy a pan and stick it in your magnetic palette
I actually wanted a naked3 mini palette a few years ago but now I’m already over it.🤷🏻♀️
I LOVE that you segregate J* to the back of the bus! So appropriate given his past.
It just makes him stand out even more, like he gets his own segment. Extra attention. Makes me see it better and sort of want it more.
Emojis were the physicians formula butter bronzers!!
🤎☕🍩= PF Caucasian flavored coffee. Btw it probably will be a Ka ren related scent, I'm thinking vanilla 🤷🏽♀️
No one but white women wear vanilla? News to me. Make sure you let the other POC know because they smell like vanilla in my city often.
@@MilwaukeeWoman Sorry Karen 🤣
I was so happy when i saw that Beautynews video was up!!! Love these 2 lady’s!!!
The Hourglass single shadows remind me of the L'Oréal Color Riche eyeshadow quads 😬
“If you somehow have all skin tones” 💀
Amen to shady marketing techniques. We’re looking at you too, influencer brands 🙄
Jeff's shed. I'm dying !!😆🤣
Beauty News always makes my day better 💕💕💕
I actually like the blushes from the power puff girls collection.
Hourglass can get effed with that pricing holy cow
Not so much for the formula but I’m still obsessed with the lipstick shade wonderland from Urban Decay. I still have a back up ❤️ Also they definitely could have done way better with at least a tan and a deep tone of those butter bronzers but the Cake one from Physicians Formula is a deeper tone
I always get sooo excited for this video🥰🥰🥰 thanks for your commentary 👏🏻
