I'm ALL FOR limited edition lipstick packaging, even if the colour isn't limited - nothing makes me happier than pulling a beautiful lipstick out of my bag when I'm out!
Fully agree. I only buy beautifully packaged items at this point, unless it's a formula I HAVE to try and it's from a brand that does not do consistent LE.
I don't actually have any problem with LE makeup, even of its gonna disappear from the shops after a few months, usually products last a really long time. By the time I finish them I'm usually willing to try something different
Is Hailey wearing a pale GREEN shadow on her eyes..?!? It looks beautiful on her!!! Definitely the right hue for her.. looks great with her current hair 😍
I love the Anastasia Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit - And I felt that they handled it nicely when they brought it back like 3 years later because it was a long enough time for people to have finished the first one they bought/the first one started to get old.
Getting my hands on a Berlin Girl Glow was a journey... And that comes from a person that actually lives in Hatices home country Germany. I will always treasure it, but omg, was the release a nightmare. It went online at 6 in the morning and was immediately sold out. So I went to a Douglas store near me at 10 and the people there didn't even know what they were (even though they had displays with Hatices face on it...). Cue hundreds of calls and angry customers that the people in the Douglas stores had to endure that day. Online In-store reservations on their website got cancelled every hour, because no store near me ever got them on release day. I managed to phone a store that was supposed to get them delivered the next day and they wrote down my phone number and set one aside for me when they arrive. They had a long waiting list. Then their truck got stuck somewhere for two days. Meanwhile, stores in other parts of Germany apparently didn't read their instructions properly and sold them 2 days early. I finally got one, but my god.....
I know junkies that would have given up before you did. But as gambler's would say "at a certain point you're pot commited to seeing it through", I know who to find when I need a cancer medication from ww2 the US no longer makes with rumored stockpiles in German bunkers.
How does it compare to the new Hatice highlighters? I have considered having my friend in Germany bring me one when she comes to visit. The Becca will never happen but I am very curious if she duped her own?
The 'testing the water' idea is what I associate most with Mac Underground. They get to be a bit edgy without the commercial risk of a flop as they are only selling to their super fans!
Random take on LE makeup: I’m surprised by how useful Essence’s trend editions (their version of LE) have been for me. Considering that makeup is 3x the cost in Southern Africa, it helps me decide whether I will enjoy new products/new colors like “blushlighters” or different tones of brown lipsticks. Then I can make better decisions about higher end brands or just enjoy the affordable version.
I hope you're keeping an eye on their House of Cosmetics website. They've been selling Trend Editions there that they haven't been stocking in the shops.
I'm in two minds about limited edition and it really depends on the brand. If the brand is reliable to do a good formula for LE release, I love it. But I hate when brands take advantage of the hype and lower their quality. They're tricking customers into buying low quality products at high quality prices, and it turns me off the brand altogether.
LE makeup brings out all the best and worst sides of my makeup obsession. I love the excitement and joy they can bring but I hate the FOMO spending too much, owning too much traits it highlights in me.
I liked what you said about using LE items in videos, I wish more creators would do the same!! I love seeing makeup and talking about makeup, it doesn't matter to me if I can buy everything I see in a video or not. I think that especially if something is LE and I missed out on it, even if it's something older, I would love to see it used in a video just to be able to enjoy it in some way.
I honestly think that Fenty would’ve made a super sick Monopoly collab. It totally fits their brand, they could’ve just pimped the hell out of their packaging, make some fun names (which they do perfectly already), it would’ve been awesome! Imagine a highlighter shade like Trophy Wife in a gold bar shape, or embossed with a “Fenty” dollar bill look. Missed opportunity there.
@@madp6755 Monopoly doesn’t go with makeup, let’s be real 😂 but I think out of every brand, it fits Fenty the best. They could’ve done a more “Grown Up” take on it, they do their packaging and embossing well, and they already have solid products.
I LOVE my Dose of Colors Desixkaty Friendcation eye shadow palette!! And my ELF reto paradise palette. I don’t often buy limited edition but it is annoying when I see you tubers declutter their LE items just because it’s not sold anymore. If you love it and it still works, keep it!!
My take on LE makeup: if it's something I genuinely will use, I'll buy the LE collection and if I need to replace them eventually, I'll look for dupes for the product itself. I'm generally someone who is on the utilitarian "I want to buy it and rebuy it later" side, but I also bought the SafiyaxColourpop lip set because if I love a color so much that I use it up I can find a replacement.
Beauty Bay released the Book of Magic palette and for some reason it was the only eyeshadow palette they had that they made LE. The colour story was so interesting and people are literally screaming for it to come back. It makes no sense to make it LE! Also sorry if you mention this product...I just started watching 😅
OMG, I thought I was the only person who was bewildered by Book of Magic being LE, by far the most interesting thing they have put together in my opinion
No! The Wilderness palette was tempting me into doing my first purchase from Beauty Bay, and I felt the same way about the Book of Magic, but they both sold out before I could think through the purchase. Why do they keep discontinuing the most interesting color stories?
Watching you two sit and have an absolute joy fest gushing about makeup at the end made me smile so much as I'm having my cup of tea before work Love it 😁
I love Limited Edition products. I don't buy a lot of makeup these days because it takes me so long to use up any single color product that I don't need replacements. If I'm expanding my collection I want something special, the exclusivity of it adds to my enjoyment of the product that I'm wearing something others around me likely aren't. Or I see a product that just draws me in that I don't care it's limited edition, like NARS' Tinted Glow Booster. It's so beautiful, my MUA used it as a base over glowy primers for my wedding and it was stunning but it's also lovely on its own, I hoped its release was a trial and it was so I'm quite happy.
This felt like I was hanging out with girlfriends. Fun fun fun. I recently acquired the Hummingbird Chantecaille powder and it is precious to me. Good to see your beautiful faces!
I never had a regret concerning a limited edition product except 1. That was this beautiful 9 pan brown Chanel palette, it was the perfect brown palette, it was compact, had a variety of tones and textures, applied like a dream as well
Omg I am dying for that MAC red highlighter! Not to mention Haley's eyeshadow! I can't stop looking at it, so pretty! I usually don't fall for the limited editions, expect for the Gemini pallet of course.
I feel like the more functional something is, the less limited it needs to be. Also there is something to be said for splurging on cult classics that have stood the test of time! Would love to see a video like this discussing cult classic products!
I feel with the growth in the China market. The Chinese NewYear products get better every year. Basic blossom pink & light spring peach; seem to be a standard colour in makeup now. Because of the Chinese market. Growing over the last 10ish years.
Still love my Berlin Girl Glow and my Petal Metal highlighter! Tough to pick a fav LE item, but I adore my ABH Jackie Aina palette! They really did her dirty pulling that so soon, while the supposedly LE (and way less cute) Amrezy palette sat and gathered dust.
Omg thank you girls. I needed this, I’ve just had a date cancelled by a guy and I was feeling like shit. 🥺 watching you guys always makes me feel better.
There was this line that L’oreal did YEARS ago where they released lipsticks of actresses favourite lipcolors, and I still have the Blake Lively one because it’s so stunning. Should probably check for mold or some ish XD
I only have a couple of friends that are into makeup, and less so these days with mask wearing, so it's really nice getting videos like this where you two sit down and chat and rant about things. It's not the same as being a contributing party of a makeup conversation, but because you guys are so entertaining it makes this type of video one of my favourites that you do.
I never buy LE, I just don't feel excited with something that will not exist in a year... But actually I do not normally buy the same eyeshadow palette more than once or twice, same for lipsticks....
Remember when Becca and Jaclyn Hill tried to create Champagne Pop round 2with Prosecco Pop and that blew up in their faces? Yeah, that was a thing. I wish they had released Berlin Girl Glow to the masses for one last hurrah before they closed, because it was almost impossible to find in Canada. :(
I assume that formulating a great base product (foundation, concealer etc..) with a substantial colour range is far more time consuming and expensive for brands than say eyeshadow or lipstick for example. It just seems more financially viable to include the latter in LE releases.
I just ordered the primer water and the LE nars blush palette. Yall are so right. Special Packaging on a staple product is like a burst of confetti. I absolutely love it!
I understand that there is a place for limited edition products. It was because of you ladies that I own the snow flushed highlighter from MAC. It is an item in my collection that I treasure, and I have a small collection. I also have the first ELF x Jkissa palette and that was my intro to colored eyeshadows. Though as someone that can only have a small collection, I need to be careful with what I bring into my life. If I were to bring something limited edition into my collection, it would probably be something I could use relatively quickly, like a facial spray, a nude lipstick, or a primer.
The majority of my eyeshadow palette stash is LE. I've often thought about starting a RUclips channel, but I'd have to list makeup people can't buy anymore every time lol
You should still launch one if you want to. People dupe stuff if they want to recreate a look; it’s never stopped me. If it brings you joy, start one. It’s about more than commerce
In the probably 10 years that I've been into makeup, I went through a full circle with LE collections. When I first started watching youtube, I was obsessed with all the amazing limited editions coming out, even though they were a lot more rare than the are now. I remember feeling overwhelmed with with MAC and their releases, similarly to how Colourpop feels nowadays. Then that phase you mentioned happened, where beauty gurus would get rid of or refuse to talk about LE stuff because apparenty people got angry they couldn't get it. That made LE products feel inferior and I avoided them for the longest time. Now that I've been in the panning community for almost 3 years, I know it takes AGES of consistent use to finish a product and that makes me feel less worried about my LE products running out too soon. So now I love LE collections, but I am definitely a lot more critical about them, especially the nostalgia-driven ones. However, I will NEVER forgive Becca for not releasing more of Berlin Girl Glow. I wanted to wait through the hype and see some reviews, but by the time I did, it was sold out everywhere and gone forever! I hope another brand recreates that shade one day, even as an eyeshadow, because I still want it SO BAD and it's the only product I'm sad I missed out on!
Current favourite LE product? Botanic Panic Palette by Mac. Every single shade is completely unique for the brand and there's maybe 5-6 shades out of 12 that are challenging to produce (yellow, chartruse, matte lilac, shimmering mid-tone plum-purple, pale powder blue similar to Surprise in Nikki's BeautyBay palette and bright, shimmering mid-tone turquoise/teal). All of them are beautiful and really easy to work with. I use an ash-wood green with the chartruse when I want to get a stronger green vibe (otherwise it just looks awkwardly yellow on me) but otherwise they all work amazing! It also works really well with Jackie Aina's ABH palette!
The Mac x Pony Park collection will forever be my favorite. The Lip Mousse in one hit is my absolutely favorite lip product. Period. And the highlighter is gorgeous too- I have the cool-toned one
The only “older” makeup that I consider buying is more expensive and I think about it for a while, example: huda palettes (I consider $65 a lot of money), hourglass anything, Becca highlighter. I like to think about big splurges but I have to admit I’ve befallen into many limited edition excitements before!
Girls you need to try The Pastel Roses eyeshadows, MY GOD they are BRILLIANT. Multi chrome goodness, makes your head spin. Very similar to Cliondah Cosmetics.
Three things: one: I think most of the limited edition items lack inclusivity. Like limited face palettes cater to one audience. Two: Hailey, I'm with you! I love that bare minerals Aurora lights palette! I've been so dissappointed by every holiday collection they've released since bc they are so boring in comparison! Three: my fav limited edition items are the Viseart grande pro 2 and the Viseart Coy palettes! This magpie needs all the sparkles!...also I am a sucker for all the Disney collab releases🙈🙈🙈
💙 that Kat picked Hati‘s Berlin Girl Glow again to point to this outstanding product of that time🤩 I think it actually was the same with Hatice’s bronzer with L.O.V. which was sold so quickly and never brought back. I really hope some brands actually listen to you and take your feedback into consideration for future releases because all of your opinions are sooo true and I share ALL of them!🤗🙋🏻♀️👍
I love LE items! My favorite one in my collection is the Wonder Woman Brush set from Luxie. Makeup wise, I have a few - Nars x Erdem palettes, MAC Aquatic Bronzer and XD shadow, Mac Star Trek compact and Vulcan Pigment, Tom ford Soleil Neige with the mint shade, Kaleidos x Angelica palette, and the original edition of Rose Quartz from Becca.
Most of my collection is limited edition and I love it. I never get upset when I use up a limited edition product because it just means I get to try something new. I don't understand using the same product for years, I find that boring. I always keep the packaging after I am done with using them because I collect them as well. I love going back at them and thinking how much I enjoyed it or not, they are not all winners. Sadly.
I bought Smashbox Vlada's Rosemantic Highlighter. It starts off subtle but builds up to a beautiful bronzy peach. I love it and the packaging is beautiful! I considered getting the one that Kat has but that color was really strong and I wanted something that was more subtle.I also got the stylishly mary highlighter in a gift set from MAC right before it was discontinued. I had heard about from you guys in a Beauty News episodes and had to try it. It's beautiful!
It's so interesting, it's like Besamé are more like packaging designers than a makeup company. For me, I will be attracted to limited edition packaging if I can reuse it afterwards, like a beautiful cream jar for rings on my vanity, or a gorgeous lipstick tube that I could (theoretically) refill.
I love LE makeup. I used to worry when i first started my YT. But honestly nobody has complained. Most items i have my husband has bought me as well. So theres extra sentiment behind them.
It looks like Hatice has recreated Berlin Girl Glow in her own line (which is beautiful, btw). Her highlighters are for specific skin depths, and they look stunning.
I've realized that a lot of the things I'm looking for or am interested in is not what sells well generally. Because of this a lot of my favorites are limited edition products that brands wouldn't even think of releasing permanently, since it would be a guaranteed financial loss for them.
I'm all here for limited edition. Give me all the cool and cute packaging, weird and wonderful embossing, the lot. They are keep sakes and a bit special ... I might just have to splurge on an Hourglass lipstick after this video as well 😊
A limited edition product can be so fun, favourite limited edition drugstore lipstick is the catrice ultimate matt lipstick ,so soft and smooth yet perfectly matt
Great episode!! It totally brought me back to 2016, and how badly NikkieTutorials was raked through the burning hot coals over that disaster. 🔥 Another good one could be a chatty video about instances of "bait and switch" (which is along those lines). Sometimes a formula or a colour will change after a long time on the market that annoys customers, but I'm talking about very deceptive and intentional shady behaviour. Too Faced is always going to be up there with trying to force 'scarcity' and attempt to get people to panic buy (hopefully it happens less now), Bite Beauty had a thing a couple of years ago because they never changed their 'clean beauty' marketing but a few of their core products suddenly were filled with cheap ingredients, fragrance etc. I personally find it egregious when a brand launches a good product, all the good reviews pour in, they get the numbers and top ratings, and then 12 months later the formula is completely degraded and they just continue to sell units based on past hype and good will of customers. 😤😡
That Wu Tang x Milk lipstick packaging is amazing, but I don't think I have much myself. What annoys me is when brands don't produce enough product when they know it will sell out immediately, even if it isn't officially Special Edition (I'm looking at you Lisa Eldridge).
I don't mind limited edition because like you said, by the time I use up the product the trends will be on to something else. Even with complexion, trends change. Except mascara or eyeliner! I love pretty lip products because that's the one thing I use in public and can show off.
My favorite limited edition product was the romand neon moon collection. I don't care for the blushes or eyeshadows but the LIPS! They are gorgeous and are in the cutest packaging. I wear them all the time.
You are the only ones I will listen to talk about make up for hours with my full and undivided attention. Alsooo, I love both of your makeup looks, but can I ask what Hailey is wearing on the eyes and lips? 😍
I don't mind LE generally. However, I take a long time to decide things, so they often sell out before I make up my mind. But, the mostly ones I have I love. My favorite is Club Nebula, because I always need more dark mattes, and interesting inner corner highlights. My least favorite raw beauty Kristi pur palette. Honestly, I'm not sure why I bought it. 😂
I'm a sucker for limited edition products. My fave are the Nars face palettes especially with their gelee formula & the packaging sucks me in every single time💗 Also love the holiday edition skincare, great opportunity to try items/brands i have been curious about, without breaking the bank...I especially love ALL the holiday releases in ANYTHING...my absolute krypotine🙃
Ladies! I have to tell you I haven't purchased make up in years. I only just now started to throw on a little mascara and concealer on a regular basis BUT my favorite LE and I'm not even sure that it is LE but anyway ABH Modern Renaissance. It's the only palette I use if I'm doing more than putting blush and bronzer in my crease. Thank you for all that you do I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into this channel and your others as well!!!!!!!! much love.
When I first got into makeup, I remember feeling quite awful if I missed out on a limited edition item that I was interested in to the point where I definitely spent more money than I should’ve to have it (only to never use it). I’m much more selective with what I buy nowadays, but I have to admit that after watching Hailey talk about it, I didn’t hesitate to buy the Hourglass Red 0 lipstick with the limited edition packaging- zero regrets about that!
I'm so happy to have a huge size eyeshadow of the Mac with a bow in it snd to have missed out on the eyeshadows the first go round . And remember EVERYONE boo boo ed the shmashbox collab I love it so much I have so much LE but I get both sides
for a long time, I lived for the holidays because that was when I got makeup. I bought a complete collection of holiday products, tried a brand out for a year and then when I found something on sale, I'd buy it. then one day, I made some extra money and watched sone beauty YT thinking I could find a comprehensive palette. 4 years, later, I avoid holiday makeup because I know it tends to be not as good as the main stuff. Buy my work colors from indie brands I really love the quality of (Sydney Grace), my sparkly shadows for fun & performing from other indie brands (Clionadh and JD Glow). I try to remind myself that I have a overfull collection due to subboxes and I don't bring stuff in often anymore. I love LE for the occasional gems and fails.
First off, I love watching you both, you really lift my spirits. I must admit the only one I've ever bought was the Hourglass Ambient one, but then seeing that they do it every year with maybe one new product has rather put me off getting others.
I'm ALL FOR limited edition lipstick packaging, even if the colour isn't limited - nothing makes me happier than pulling a beautiful lipstick out of my bag when I'm out!
This! The only fancy makeup I buy is beautiful lipstick 💄😊💖

I just ordered the primer water and the LE nars blush palette. Yall are so right. Special Packaging on a staple product is like a burst of confetti. I absolutely love it!
The first thing I ever try with urban decay was the alice through the looking glass lipsticks. Still gorgeous to this day!
I got the palette.Awful but i love it
I was able to get Berlin glow because of you Kat! How is Anon? This was a great episode!
This was such a great topic to discuss. such great points were made and the breakdown of the whole limited release world.
When yall talked about the Bobbi Brown monopoly collab I couldn't help but wonder what your reaction to the hipdot collab was 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Jouer, DOC, Stila, Smashbox, JS, UD are the ones that come to mind.
I don’t mind limited edition packaging, but not okay with limited edition formulas.
Do it anyway. Even if you do videos on empties.
Hailey's hair: 🔥
Kat's eyemakeup: 🔥
My ladies always post when i need them most 🥺🥺🥺🤍🤍
Ok, but now I want that red/gold highlighter! 😍
The Mac x Pony Park collection will forever be my favorite. The Lip Mousse in one hit is my absolutely favorite lip product. Period. And the highlighter is gorgeous too- I have the cool-toned one
Beauty news made me buy MAC Snowflushed. And I love it.
Hahah me too!! I haven't used it much, really need to get around to it 😅
Haha same! The first LE thing I ever bought from Mac.
same 😄
The only “older” makeup that I consider buying is more expensive and I think about it for a while, example: huda palettes (I consider $65 a lot of money), hourglass anything, Becca highlighter.
When you were talking about makeup based around trends my mind went straight to “Unicorns. THE F*CKING UNICORNS.”
You both look so pretty!
Haley - your smile looks terrific. Great work!
Love Hailey’s make up! I am always here for complementary colors. With the hair and the coral lip? Love it!
ahh these long videos are my jam. Made a hot tea just for this vid
I love the too faced liquid lipstick too. Best purchase last year!
Limited edition weakness Holo taco box sets.
First i was always scared to finish stuff but I realised most of the time I'm over it when it's finished anyway
What i dont really buy is influencer collabs. Or really branded. I like the fancy packaging thats different to the normal line.
It looks like Hatice has recreated Berlin Girl Glow in her own line (which is beautiful, btw). Her highlighters are for specific skin depths, and they look stunning.
Which one is the same?
@@leannschaffnit7376 I think the lightest one looks at least very similar
@@leannschaffnit7376 I emailed Hatice's customer service, and they said none of the existing highlighters compare to the Becca BGG. Bummer.
I've realized that a lot of the things I'm looking for or am interested in is not what sells well generally. Because of this a lot of my favorites are limited edition products that brands wouldn't even think of releasing permanently, since it would be a guaranteed financial loss for them.
I'm still so happy I spent a stupid amount of money to get Berlin girl glow. My favourite LE purchase.
I think the Sephora x Moschino first collection hit every mark. The packaging and the products.
I don't have much LE makeup, but I did splurge on a couple items from the StarTrek 50th anniversary collection MAC did and I love them!
You two got me onto the hourglass slim lipstick train and now I hate myself for loving that formula so much🤣they are dang pricy holy smokes
It’s just pretty packaging most of the time, or a way for brands to test the waters before launching a full collection.
I'm a sucker for limited edition products. My fave are the Nars face palettes especially with their gelee formula & the packaging sucks me in every single time💗
Also love the holiday edition skincare, great opportunity to try items/brands i have been curious about, without breaking the bank...I especially love ALL the holiday releases in ANYTHING...my absolute krypotine🙃
Angelica X Kaleidos Club Nebula palette. I treasure it!
I have my eye on the Inglot x Maura palette just because the packaging looks celestial 😅
Hailey I just found & bought the robert lee Morris highlight from Mac cuz of you. Found on mercaria. So excited to have in my collection 😍
Gosh your makeup is always so pretty
First off, I love watching you both, you really lift my spirits. I must admit the only one I've ever bought was the Hourglass Ambient one, but then seeing that they do it every year with maybe one new product has rather put me off getting others.
Loved this episode!!! Very informative! I'm so curious about the rest of your limited edition collection!
