Tiki showdown would be great! Zombie vs Hurricane vs Mai Tai etc. Not sure if that really fits your theme tho 🤔. Also, taking on 4 of those in quick succession might be a challenges of it's own haha
My favourite (not in this video) is blood and sand. Equal parts Heering, red (sweet) vermouth, orange or blood orange juice and peated scotch. Sounds wierd but is oh so yummy!!!!
The Last Word is one of my absolute all-time favorite cocktails. I like to make a slight variation, courtesy of the spectacular Old Crow bar in Zurich: shake it with a few leaves of fresh mint. It adds a subtle freshness that elevates the drink to another level! I don’t really agree that the choice of gin is secondary; it needs a fairly assertive gin. I like it with Tanqueray Ten. But a gentler one like Bombay just makes for a “flat” flavor profile.
What to do with a bottle of fernet Branca? Black lily- fernet, Cointreau and lime juice Hanky panky (credit Savoy Cocktail book)- gin, sweet vermouth, fernet Dubodreau cocktail (credit Jamie Boudreau)- Bonded rye, dubonnet rouge, fernet, st germain The blood diamond (credit Quinary HK)- Cognac, fernet, cynar, Benedictine Or just do a fernet and cola
One of my favorite equal parts sour is the crop top, from death & co. (I think Devon Tarby created it) : Gin Grapefruit liqueur Amaro Montenegro Lemon juice
I was just about to comment that the OXO angled jigger (which I own too) doesn't have a 3/4 measure line - much to my annoyance having to measure 1/4 and 1/2 or approximate where 3/4 should be. I looked it up and they have since added it - nice!!
I'm such a sucker for a Last Word, but I had one made with Mezcal (no other swaps) instead of Gin, and it was unbelievable. Gives such a nice smoky, cherry, herbal taste. Give that one a try as well!
"I cut the break bitches! Wild card" that is probably my favorite part of Always Sunny! Man I love the first 3 cocktails... Guess I'm gonna have to make the Industry one.
One of my favorite cocktails I've been making recently is The Last Word, but I subbed out the maraschino liqueur for Cointreau. Also good with seltzer on top.
I could drink Paper Planes and Last Words all day - curious about the Naked and Famous, though I don't have a bottle of Yellow Chartreuse right now. Nervous about that Industry Sour - seems like it would be very sweet (similar to the Fernet drink you made last week). I'm going to make a scaled-down version of this. [Edit - I made that Industry Sour and hot damn, that's an interesting cocktail. Not too sweet at all - balanced and the Fernet really shines! Sorry I doubted you CC!!!!]
I've made the Naked And Famous, I picked it up from Clair of Behind The Bar. The mezcal I have actually overpowered the drink with its smokiness. I have to cut it with tequila.
It could be the fact that I’m a bored dude but hear me out with this drink idea. 2 shots of clarified milk 1 shot of cream soda 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional) Half a shot of baileys original 1-2 dashes of coffee bitters Top with squirty cream. Edit: Idk what I named it, I fell asleep after thinking of it
god I wish yellow Chartreuse was easier to get a hold of here in Ontario... I love ALL of these drinks, though I must admit that the 'industry standard' is a once in a blue moon type drink
00:50 You coward, lol. I agree though, the Paper Plane is deliciously crushable. I think we need a new name for four part cocktails, like quatros or sqaures or something. Also, if you do this again you should add in the Almost Famous and the Shaddock.
so you made 4 equal parts cocktails of equal volume and didn't even attempt to make an equal part cocktail made from 4 equal parts cocktails disappointed
@@InDeepPudding luxardo drinks always have a touch of chocolate for me, but something about the herbs of the chartreuse and the tang of the lime remind me of white chocolate. Idk man you enjoy your palate and I'll enjoy mine. Deal?
I love sweet things, but I'm also getting kind of tired of stuff that just taste sweet. Can anyone suggest something sweet that also has something really interesting and unexpected going on?
@@easterntrees My feeling was that these were more balanced drinks. I'm happy if I'm wrong though. Only the last one looked like it was... Exiting, for lack of better words.
@@iamjimgroth I wasn't thinking of the last one when I said that, sorry. the industry sour is not predominantly sweet. anything with two liqueurs in it is going to be pretty sweet, though, and the last word is no exception. they're all balanced in that they have acid to cut the overwhelming sweetness of multiple sugar heavy spirits, but anyone would find the first three to be noticeably sweet along with many other flavors. that's why I was joking. I'd bet these are more or less exactly what you're looking for.

Just ordered! damn thats a good deal!!!!!!!
Blended Scotch vs Rye vs Bourbon Sour.. your wild card here can be a smokey islay single malt whisky
You should mix the four together and make a new equal parts cocktail made of equal parts cocktails
Wait! THAT’S ILLEGAL!!

Charlie Chaplin: equal parts sloe gin, apricot Brandy and lime.
Switch the lime out for lemon and it's even nicer in my opinion

I'm a huge fan of The Right Word, a spin on The Last Word. It's equal parts lime juice, gin, Lillet Blanc, and St. Germain. Definitely worth a try.
One of my favorite equal parts sour is the crop top, from death & co. (I think Devon Tarby created it) :
Gin
Grapefruit liqueur
Amaro Montenegro
Lemon juice
Yes! Honestly I have a hard time picking between these, they're all very high on my list.
Great new segment, I really like looking at variations on drinks and how small changes can become drastic when utilized properly. Cheers!
The Final Ward is another favourite of mine. Take a Last Word and swap the lime & gin with lemon & rye.
I take it the name is a reference to the Ward 8? If it is, I recommend watching How To Drink's video on it if you want to be...entertained 😂
@@penguindrummaster A Last Word riff by a bartender named 'Philip Ward'.
Just found this channel - wish I’d found it at the start of the pandemic lol. You’re so good!
Interesting cocktails, definitely trying these
Industry Sour is superb.
Intriguing video. I'll need to make that Industry Sour, seems to have some awesome flavour profiles
Love you man!!!!!!
Lol great stuff brother
What if you made one that was part coca cola and part mayonnaise with some dragon fruit as garnish?
I CUT THE BREAKS!! WILDCARD
AWESOME VIDEO!!!! The Last Word is def one of my all time favs. The Industry Sour is one I need to try. CHEERS!!!!
Great to see an Australian gin being featured
Equal parts crown royal apple, sour apple schnapps and lemonade. It’s great

I haven't tried that swap yet, but will. Try swapping the chartreuse for absinthe.
In the amaro/bitter sour category l’d love to see you make a Trinidad sour
industry sours are not only good, they aren't even weird. fight me.

I could tell from the first shot that two of the drinks were the last word and paper plane.
These are all 4 great cocktails. Love how simple they are.
This is awesome, definitely gonna make a Last Word this weekend sometime. Thanks for this great showdown!
Great comparison nick, you picked four great cocktails to test out!!
Salud🍻from mexico
I'm inspired to try a milk clarified version of the industry sour
Four pillars is our local gin distillery.... the Shiraz gin is awesome what’s a bottle worth in the US?
I guessed 2 out of 4 from the intro! I thought you were making a Blood and Sand rather than a Naked and Famous.
What can you do with your bottle of Fernet Branca? Fernet con coca, baby!
si 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷 pero eso no tiene suficientes ingredientes. sólo es un cóctel si tiene tres o más.
Where can you buy that glass container that holds the simple syrup?
I asked Murray for something new once and he made that for me. Loved that place.
The Naked & Famous is the GOAT cocktail.
"I cut the break bitches! Wild card" that is probably my favorite part of Always Sunny! Man I love the first 3 cocktails... Guess I'm gonna have to make the Industry one.

WILD CARD BABY
Have you done a Sake based before? I have a large bottle and was wondering what I could try. Just for fun. Thanks for the awesome content.
I can't make those but I do really want to drink those

No yellow chartreuse or nonino at the moment... but may just have to do an Industry sour at 5 :-)
Epic! More mezcal please.
What does chartreuse taste like?
Green. It tastes so very very green.
Industry sours are the shit
I've made the Naked And Famous, I picked it up from Clair of Behind The Bar. The mezcal I have actually overpowered the drink with its smokiness. I have to cut it with tequila.
Chartreuse is your most expensive ingredient here though, right?
It could be the fact that I’m a bored dude but hear me out with this drink idea.

1 shot of cream soda
1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)
Half a shot of baileys original
1-2 dashes of coffee bitters
Top with squirty cream.

Sounds too sweet. I would use some espresso rather than coffee liqueur, or make sure to use a more bitter/less sweet coffee liqueur.
@@BeautifulObscurity good call

All I wanna do is *sip sip sip sip*
Would the industry sour work better with the slightly softer Branca Menta??
I feel like your expressions after tasting, should have it's own Twitter account.
I second that!
Headed to the bar in an hour. Any suggestions?? I like the fruity stuff. Tried a Negroni and it sucked.

It's semi-regularly available at the SAQ, so hopefully once borders open up you'll be able to make the trip and grab a couple bottles!
I’ve never tried this myself, but I’ve heard Strega is an acceptable substitute for Yellow Chartreuse
Specs of the Industry Sour?
I can’t believe how many bartenders give me a blank stare when I order a Last Word
Haven't finished watching yet. I hope paper plane is on here
You won’t be disappointed.
Love your videos but..... I have never heard anyone else say three fourths instead of three quarters! 😂
I thought for sure #4 was a My Word is Gold. Turns out... that's just an industry sour with St Germain instead of simple. Cin cin!
A better title would be "Cocktail Shakedown"
