Me: you want a drink?
Friend: Sure, I'll take a Gin-Tonic
Me: k, I'll be back in 36 hours
Lmao-- and that'll be $42
I've found babish's long lost brother.
Yes😂😂😂
I was thinking that through the whole video!
Please do a video together!!
That’s what I thought when I saw this channel
I’d drink the F*** out if that last drink.
You spent all day making a drink I would chug in 30 seconds, I respect it
That's what staff and chefs are for.
I’d pay 42$ to drink that lava lamp, honestly.
If a nice neer cost $12 then this must cost a lot. $42 is to much but at least $20
For those who are uncertain on juniper flavor, imagine if a pinecone tried to be a blueberry when it grew up and you get the idea of the flavor. A mildly sweet, piney flavor that tastes FAR better than it sounds.
Cole what a brilliant description! I have a pot of juniper berries that I keep in my cocktail cabinet, it’s a nice change to add a few berries and a slice of lemon.
Okay let me just go taste a pine cone

I can't believe you just essentially made cucumber popping boba for this that's insanely cool
I'm pretty sure it IS cucumber popping boba 'cause if it feels like you're eating a funny flavoured fish egg, you're just eating popping boba. XD (Just like how Markiplier and CrankGamePlays made chicken broth popping boba for Unus Annus.)

I love the vids of advanced techniques I'd never be able to try at home. Cheers Nick!
i tried the complicated one, it tastes worse than typical gin/tonics you can get a a random bar. i guess this recipe is optimized for youtube, not for taste.
@@buddhabrot have you considered that people likes different things?
@@vetleallum2965 Bro that's a dumbass thing to comment. "Looking cool" doesnt mean something tastes good, sure "tasting good" is somewhat subjective but if something tastes like nail varnish then most people aren't gonna be into it.

One of the appeals of the classic gin and tonic is the speed of the drink. It's hot. It's July. It's Saturday afternoon. Frozen glasses in the freezer. Gin, also in the freezer. Tonic in the fridge. Nine seconds later you have a G & T. The most complicated thing is the wedge of lime. I will stick to that first version.
Justin Chipman Hi, just try the second gin (Mare) with a Mediterranean tonic water, and rosemarin... it’s my favorite gin ;)
And if you are in a real rush, they don't even have to be chilled. Just pour them on some ice. Still a good GT. (While the ice does melt away fast...)
@@jorgevasquez2607 Jorge, you have my word that I will try it. And, to be fair, it isn't much of a sacrifice to go and buy a bottle of quality alcohol and share it with friends! I live in Colorado and I love locally distilled spirits, but I won't hesitate to try new things. Take care.
@@justinchipman1925 how was it? :)

Must try.

Note from a linguistics nerd: Your local gin labeled "Junípero" is named after Father Junípero Serra who founded the first nine California Spanish missions. A play on words no doubt since the juniper berry is such a prominent botanical in gins. But it is pronounced hoo-NEE-pay-ro (Spanish) or hoo-NIHH-purr-oh (American).

@@manyflamesaway3522 Isn't that more of an accent thing? Like if you travel 30 miles in the uk you'll probably find a totally different accent I imagine you all have lots of ways of saying the same thing.

@@manyflamesaway3522 you you saying you guys say lorry instead of bus? Over here buses carry people and lorrys carry things. I think you meant truck and lorry but we use both largely interchangeably but people will often mean a pickup truck as a truck and the big 10 wheeler things as a lorry. Though this might be American influence.
@@manyflamesaway3522 nah its chill, I see your point. Newer generations (like me) have become a lot more "americanized" over here due to the media we consume from a young age so the line is kinda grey Imo.
Juniper berries taste sweet (when picked at the right time). Crunchy yet "gooey"....similar to the texture of a tiny cranberry but filled with fig guts (texture only). They have a wonderful pine-tree note....which makes sense because junipers grow on desert evergreens.
For a clean G&T on a budget, I really like Canada Dry tonic and Seagram's gin. Seagram's is very juniper-forward, but tastes really great and well-balanced with Canada Dry. I also like to muddle some mint leaves and half a lime in the bottom of a pint glass, add ice cubes, pour 3-4oz of gin, and top with tonic and stir. You can scale that up and make it in a giant batch, too. It kills at parties, and it's a hell of a summer cocktail.
Hey, random ghost account that doesn’t comment ever, but I just randomly found your account and gotta say I love the way you talk about the drinks you make, it’s refreshing to see a bartending account that isn’t overly pretentious abc actually talks about the qualities of the ingredients and liquor that goes into the drink

@@bitcoinandbaddies.1290 what i was thinking
my favourite gin and tonic is Bombay sapphire gin with fevertree elder-flower tonic water
Bombay gin will put you on another level I tell ya
I love this guy, one of the best speaking voices I’ve ever heard
Elderflower tonic water by Fever Tree is my absolute favorite!! So many people tell me it tastes too much like flowers, but that perfect floral note goes so well with such a variety of gins
Big fan of the Mediterranean, but I'll be trying that next.
Try the aromatic one, it's wonderful with certain g&t's, especially fruit ones.
P.s. Gin Mare is nice
I rarely drink alcohol, but I do love drinking tonic, and my favorites have been anything in the Fentiman's line of tonics. Really clean and authentic in their herbal flavors.
I've been really liking Roku gin for G&T lately. I keep coming back to Fever Tree tonic after trying several different ones - worth the money, and yes, the Elderflower is lovely.
I’ve been doing the exact same! Roku Gin is super cheap and pretty great for mixing. Also the Fever-tree Elderflower Tonic is sooo good!
This is also my go-to at the moment.
the "will it blend, of course it will, its just liquid and powder" joke earned you a bell :D
Could watch G&T vids endlessly, much as I could drink them. I love trying different gins and even hopped on the Way Back machine this year and have a Rangpur. I made my own tonic syrup in the past but I'm lazy this summer so we started the season with a tonic taste-off and the clear winner was Fever-Tree Refreshingly Light. Fewer notes in the tonic let the gin shine.
For making an English Mule, my favorite ginger beer is Fentimans Ginger Beer. It's not too sweet, nice crisp finish, and has a heat to it that nicely complements the gin.
You should try the italian tonic "Tassoni Tonica"! It's not made with quinine but quassin (from the quassia tree root) and is aromatized with italian citron.
I have a friend who just loves Gin Tonic... Needless to say that now he's watching the video too ;)
"today we're making gin and tonic"

yea im just gonna make a gin and tonic
Martin Millers, Feverlight tree with strawberries & cracked black pepper garnish 🥰
Probably the best "cheap tonic" out there is Polar. Polar makes a mean tonic and it's only a buck and a half for a liter.
And since you asked, I'm quite fond of Tanqueray Rangpur gin
And they have great flavors that go great with cocktails!
In upstate NY you can get polar for $1 a liter
@@TacoNissan I've been considering looking at jobs to be near friends in Albany. That's just another great reason to move
For my G&T, I like Bombay Sapphire, Q tonic, and a goodly pour of lime juice. Specifically, take a highball glass, pour three quarters of an inch of sub-zero Bombay Sapphire, another half inch of lime juice, add ice to just shy of the rim, and fill the glass with Q tonic, leaving a little room at the top to prevent sloshing.
Monkey 47 gin with Fentiman or Fever tree tonic. Sometimes a slice of red grapefruit.
Fun chemistry tip. Blowing alcohol fumes over bubbles pops them. We use this when running chemical assays so the foam doesnt interfere with spectrophotometry.
Gin: Beefeater. Classic and smooth.
tonic: Fevertree Aromatic. Tastes like angostura bitters and has a beautiful pink colour that really pops
Replace the tonic with Ginger Ale, add the lime, a hint of lemon zest, add Hibiscus flower petal and crack a peppercorn or 2 in it. Add other fruits or botanical if desired. My go to Gin drink.
Try the Gin Mare with the Fever Tree mediterran tonic water. It enhances the mediterran flavour with a very balanced herb note. Not as sweet as the elderflower...;-)
Saffron and orange gin and tonic: one part saffron infused gin, two parts tonic. Top off with orange juice and two dashes of orange bitters. Garnish with slice of orange on the glass
Love that blend tech reference!
1 part Beefeaters, 2 parts Fever Tree Indian tonic, half a lime squeezed, serve over ice.
lol I played this on my TV and my Girl was like "Why is Thor making drinks?" .
Juniper seeds taste like veggies on their own but very sweet when mixed with other foods. Put juniper on goat and deer, also good on rabbit!
"and after only 36 hours.." really cracked me up haha!
I think my favourite gin is four pillars, it's Australian, very nice, I can drink it on its own
Have you tried their shiraz gin? Definitely one you can drink straight.
@@Cheskaz never tried it! But I am a fan of Shiraz, I'll have to give it a go 😀
I used to think I hated gin until I tried different kinds (secifically, more expensive gins). They do range from crazy grassy to smooth, slightly sweet.
“For your G&Ts”
Uhm, EXCUSE ME sir, once I’m drunk, these are called GT CRUISERS
My faviurites are Gin Mare with Mediterranean Fever Tree (+Rosemary and lemon zest) and Amuerte White with Indian Fever Tree (+pepper and lemon zest)
Here in Sweden, we have a local tonic maker that have tonics flavored with elderflower, blueberry, spruce shoots, rhubarb, or cucumber. Cucumber and rhubarb are my clear favorites, especially if you take the cucumber flavored and add freshly ground black pepper and a few cucumber shavings.
7:09 "Y'all know when we break out the aviary book, we gonna get fancy af." LOL 🤣🤣
Hands down my all time favourite gin is monkey47 paired with fever tree mediterranean tonic or aromatic if that isnt available
Fever tree is my go to! Also, since all the SF bars are closed my wife and I have just been bingeing your videos and improving our home cocktail game.
I think this is hilarious because we use Lidl gin and 45p tonic that comes in a 1L bottle and put it in a gherkin jar 😂😂😂
Ok but honestly the Lidl gin is genuinely really really good, like I’ve had fancy gins and shitty gins and I find theirs competes with the big guns
Currently drinking a lot of Two Brothers Gin. They are known mostly as a brewery, but they started doing spirits as well and their gin is fantastic. Fever Tree in regular and elderflower has been my go to for tonic. I also almost always put a little bit of rosemary in it.
"Okay after only 36 hours we are ready to build this cocktail."
I got the Aviary cocktail book for my bday last year. Totally intimidated and haven't made one drink from it yet. Great to see someone actually make this stuff. Love the channel!

BWB: DID SOMEONE SAY KOSHER SALT?!!
Fav gin drink is Hendricks, soda water, lime & few dashes grapefruit bitters. Fav G&T is Empress gin & Fevertree Elderflower tonic and lime!
Someone would REALLY have to love Gin and Tonics to go through a 36 hour period, for a single drink.
I LOVE Ransom old tom gin and fever tree elderflower. They're really good together although it's not your standard, "clean" tasting G&T. A bit sweet so I like to balance it out with a very generous amount of lime juice.
Gin and Tonic is my drink of choice and I almost always use the Fever Tree Indian Tonic (the yellow label used in the video) and The Botanist brand gin, super smooth, and a lime slice. My cheap mix option for a party where I don't want to bring the good stuff I get a 12 pack of Schweppes Tonic Water and a bottle of Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire gin.
a local gin brewery near antwerp (belgium) creates this amazing gin called 'Clover gin', it contains actual clover and has an amazing herbal taste, i likte to combine it with some shweppes premium tonic 'matcha' flavour for an incredible complexe and unique taste
Schweppes do matcha tonic??
Rose yes! In Europe at least 😅
@@jasonvanloon4714 I'm in Ireland and I've never seen it here.
@@Rose-jz6sx look it up you can probably order them
If I can, I'll go for Fever Tree or a rosemary tonic, with Ha'penny Dublin Dry Gin (my all-time favourite gin), or Tanqueray (if I can afford it, Monkey 47 or Turicum Dry Gin). Working at a fairly expensive beer/liqueur store (for my fellow Swiss people here, Drinks Of The World), Tanqueray is the lowest priced gin I'd really buy, the only two cheaper options we have are Gordon's and Bombay Saphire, both of which are not really good...
"Ice so clear it could be a Scientologist" I laughed a little too hard at that one
My go to G&T includes a teaspoon and a half of simple syrup, a bar spoon of rose water, and the juice of half a lime. Especially with that Elder flower tonic, nothing beats it on a hot summer day.
It would make my life complete, if you made the Mississippi Queen from Regular Show
I have no Idea what that would be but : *DEUS LO VULT!*
It should be a colab with babish
I've been experimenting with gin and tonics for a little while, and the best one I've made, and my go-to recipe from now on, is shaking two ounces of Ungava with ice and half an ounce of lime juice, straining over ice, and topping with Fever Tree elderflower tonic water.
the third one looks like boba gin&tonic.
Victoria Distilleries Oaken gin, 3/4 OZ. Tonic Syrup, carbonated water from my soda stream, and a Meyers lemon wedge. Perfection.
If ever thor and binging with babish had an offspring its would’ve been him
For G&Ts I use Oshlag's hibiscus gin and a elderflower and lavender tonic. I add strawberries and a twist of lemon.

If you do this again to lessen the bubbles allow the mixture to sit for a bit of time in the fridge, then afterwards use a torch to quickly pass over the surface and it will pop all the bubbles. The other option is to vacuum seal it in a ridged container and the vacuum will pull out all the air from the mixture.
Hey, have you tried Aviation Gin and if so, do you think it's worth it?
If you haven't yet, I highly suggest taking the trip across the bay to St George's in Alameda. Very engaging tours and tastings.
RUclips knows I'm an alcoholic.
Great recommendation though this was interesting.
Been sober over a year and a half(due to health reasons) but I wanted to continue to have fun so I started making drinks with THC tinctures:
•No more annoying empty clanking bottles and weird looks of how many empty containers you dump at the recycling bin
•Fry out longer and safer
•Sober up quicker
•Alot healthier
This is literally the Binging with Babish of liquor
My personal favorite is Green Ant Gin with Fever Tree Indian Tonic and garnished with fresh ruby red grapefruit and rosemary. However, the one that sells the best for me is Ink Gin with East Imperial Tonic and garnished with rose petals and white dragonfruit.
Do you ever tried Roku Gin? Consideration?
I do love Gin Mare, but my favourite that I've had is Plymouth Navy Strength. That with a Fever-Tree tonic of any flavour is amazing (Mediterranean is my favourite tonic flavour)
I'm such an alcoholic that I watch others drinking.
Chilled glass. Plymouth Navy Strength or Tanqueray 10, Fever Tree cucumber tonic, tiny dash of lime, plenty of ice. Plymouth regular or Greenall's if other choices not available.
My favorite gin is Gentilly Gin from Seven Three Distilling Co. in New Orleans. The Terroir Gin from St. George is also very nice. I've had gin made with cedar berries which is just a different species of juniper, from Jug Creek Distillery but they have closed so that gin will only live in memory.
Favorite is bombey saphire, fever tree tonic, ice and lime pressed out of juice in the glass and then the wedge dropped in the glass
Napa Valley Distillery has a couple of Gin(n)s that make a great cocktail. Their classic ginn, tonic syrup, club soda, and atomized bitters turn's every "I hate Gin" person into "can I have another"... And the summer sequel is fantastic with every tonic water I've ever used with it...though I'll get some 1792 and try it...purely for scientific research.
Fever Tree Elderflower with Beefeater 24
almost a 50/50 mix, cracked, clear ice and lemon twist. not too fancy, but strong.
hope to see use of that Ransom Old Tom, so far have just used it for a Martinez.
The elaborate recipe for cucumber ice cubes manages to totally extinguish the fun potential of making this cocktail. Lighten up. It's just a drink.
My go-to drink: local aromatic flower infused gin called Crafters (made in Estonia) that changes it's colour to a copper-ish tone after paired with a tonic (I swear by Fever Tree and Fentimans) and a slice of lime, cucumber or a rosemary branch - depends on the mood!
Crafters also makes a classic London Dry gin for which they've won multiple awards, 100% recommend!
Tonics
Monaco Dry
Schweppes Premium Tonic (silver label)
By far the best fit for every Gin out there
I typically use Fever Tree tonic, for Gin it's either Gordon's or Bombay Sapphire, I totally recommend Fever Tree's elderflower tonic water with Gordon's Pink Gin, it goes really well with the berry flavour of the Gin.
The Citrona gin and tonic at Jose Andreas e restaurant in Vegas (as well as the associated restaurant that little paradise is nestled in) is hands-down the best cocktail I have ever had. I forget the gin, but it uses Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic (grapefruit-forward), garnished with lemon peel and whole coriander seeds. I can't get the gin they use where I am, so I've been tinkering with different recipes for years. Haven't found a gin that works as well, but it sure is fun trying!
