All I’m going to say is that I was super young when I got pregnant and my parents didn’t know until I was about 32 weeks along. I was terrified to tell anyone but especially my Mother. She reacted in a negative way much like Skylar’s Mother. I had no plan to tell my parents so I don’t know what would have happened if I’d went into labor without them knowing. It actually terrifies me to go there. That baby will be 38 in a week. Defense has proven reasonable doubt.

I have to agree with you. I was 17 when I found out I was 3.5 months pregnant. It was the most terrifying day of my teenage life. At that point I was to far along to even consider abortion. Not that I would have. And not that I think there is anything wrong with a womans choice to abort. Anyways I too was extremely afraid to tell anyone and really didn't know what I was going to do. I was on my own with no help from family and sick as a dog. I had my period for my entire pregnancy. I lost 10 pounds and had taken 3 pregnancy tests. All my friends thought I was pregnant because of the way I was getting sick. When I went to the doctor to see what was wrong with me I was on my cycle. I actually had an exam where the doctor checked my area because I had a positive blood test with a negative urine. My doctor did see I was in the middle of my cycle and told me there Is a very small percentage of women that will get their cycle through the pregnancy. I was one of those "LUCKY" women. I ended up having a very ... VERY healthy baby boy at 9 lbs 10 oz. And 22 inches long. He is now 25 years old. I managed to make it. And worked my butt off to get it done. No help from family, the father or welfare. I worked 2 jobs and paid a fortune for babysitting. It was all worth it. Now I have an amazing son that has always been super respectful and a good kid. He has a baby girl now that absolutely stole my heart.

@@lydiasinclair1126 I got pregnant the first time I had sex and knew the conception date down to the hour because it only happened once. I was 14 and he was a 19 yr old kid of my parent's friends. I lived in the country and this was 38 years ago so you didn't just got to a dr without your parents knowing why. So even though I knew, there was no plan other than to avoid it. My mother finally asked me and after telling her that I didn't want to talk about it she knew. What would I have done if she hadn't asked? I don't know. Honestly and truly I loved her but had no idea what was going to happen. I was terrified of disappointing my family. Unless you're in that position you can't say. I was in that situation and still don't know.

She’s a kid with eating disorder and issues about being loved, how many times has she asked people if they still love her or like her? I don’t think she is guilty of murder. I haven’t heard any facts to change my mind yet. It’s fact that matter. How many young girls hide pregnancy from their parents, loads,! She wasn’t getting proper care for the baby coz she was afraid. Maybe after I’ve heard from her mother I’ll understand this fear a little better. It’s seems like she encouraged the eating disorder. Day 5 and swaying toward not guilty. Still heartbreaking of course. Get this over with a give this baby a decent burial.

Judy Berends hi.. you know whether (starved, no prenatal care, dropped in the toilet, burned, strangled or squeezed to death) all of those would have been the responsibility of Skylar. If I were the prosecution that's how I would end it, and ask for involuntary manslaughter. I believe that is 3-11 years. Skylar could then count her blessings she escaped murder charge.

It’s malicious prosecution. They took away her Constitutional Rights so quickly, she had no idea she was giving up her Due Process rights. She trusted the Detectives, who can (legally) lie as much as they like. Detective Fain (sp) told Skylar that she was “not in trouble”; that there was a 90% chance that she would not be impacted legally and would be going home soon. Further, the detective kept interjecting his story about his daughter’s birth...into the interrogation as a means to gain trust.
Fain waffled on knowing the Reid Technique, but this is textbook Reid, which aside from stripping an individual of their Constitutional Right, it is also coercive and leads to false confessions.
This was clear with the whole burning McGuffin. How many times did the defendant, during the second interrogation deny burning the stillborn neonate? 18? 20?
Then, Fain introduces cremation. Does he ask the defendant if she knows what cremation is? No. Is the temperature needed to cremate a body discussed? No.
Instead, Fain nearly gleefully leads her down the merry path that cremation is a proper way to honor the deceased. Over and over and over. Purposely coercing Ms Richardson into a false confession.
All the while suggesting to her that she did the “right” thing.
Detective Fain’s tactics should be shown in law school to demonstrate the abuse of a citizen’s Civil Rights, violation of Due Process rights, blatant coercive techniques and improperly Mirandizing a suspect.

Pathetic and sad that the prosecution is really grasping on straws and misrepresentations in this case. All doctors confirmed that the fundal height cannot be taken by hand, and the doctor who took it, clarified that he meant manually, and not by electronic means, when he said by "hand".
This is not justice. Makes you think what else they'd turn inside out.
