I've been shooting with this camera for over a year and it's stellar. I carry two extra batteries but I've never needed both. As far as video, I love the quality, we even won a short film festival at the World Film Festival in Cannes. For 1,200 I couldn't ask for more.
The R8 is underdog. It has massive photo and video capabilities. Talk about 4K 60 fps over sampled from 6K. The autofocus is next level. The low light performance is outstanding. It can do 120 and 180 fps in 1080 P and even with Clog3 which is quite good even if you want to put on RUclips. Theres no crop factor whatsoever and I dont miss the wobbly ibis. Better to invest in good gimbal which further enhances it's power. Usually they give one battery free with the package and you can get one more and it's 90% ad powerful as the R6 M2. The negativity around this camera is astonishing

I'm tired of people complaining about the R8 battery life. Yes, the batteries don't last as long as the twice as expensive ones form the R6ii for example, that's why you just buy extra batteries. I take 5 batteries, 4 sd cards and never run out of space or juice.

Besides toting extra batteries, another thing you can do to save on power is to turn off connectivity (WiFi or Bluetooth) if you don't need it.
