i got the 75mm Viltrox right when it launched, cause of the preproduction reviews, and it is on my X-H2 like 70% of the time. And let me tell you: it easily rivals the photos i took with my A7 III and Sigma 135 1.8 - at half the price and half the weight... its a miracle, and every portrait photographer on Fuji should just get it - full stop.
Ive gone from D850 to XH2. Preferred the XH2 over XT5 because it has a vertical grip. I use the 200f2 and the 150-600 and find holding them easier with v grip. As Hugh says look at price v attributes. All gear these days is awesome. When I can get one the 75mm is on my shopping list.
It's funny, I went from the NikonD850, but I still have my D8 50 to the Fuji film XT5 which for similar reasons because of the weight and everything else that it does and I'm slowly building up my lens collection and I've been looking for a really good portrait lens, but I tried to 56, 1.2 and I have to say it was very disappointing. It missed focused way too much for my liking I would not feel secure if I was out shooting a gig or an event and I was missing so many shots now I put that down a little bit to maybe the camera maybe me as well but generally speaking it wasn't because when I put the 35 1.4 back on and shot the same shots I did not miss. So I'm looking for this, and I figure that yes it's a longer lens, but I think that might actually be more helpful in doing certain events where I'm further away from the people and really 75 mm in terms of where you have to stand to do a Portrait it's probably only about 3 feet further back so I say hi I'll take the 3 feet. If the quality is better I did look at viltrox 56 as well. But I just did not feel that it had the bokeh that I wanted.
@@nevvanclarke9225 I’ve also sold my 56mm f1.2. Replaced it with a Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 because I love the tonality if that makes sense. Focus peaking is making me take up old glass. Just added a MF Nikon 500mm f4p and it works a treat.

I just purchased Fuji's new "kit lens" , the 16-50mm 2.8-4.8 lens for my X-T5, my travel camera. I was very impressed at how sharp this lens is! Fujifilm's engineers are obviously working hard at improving their lens lineup for the 40 megapixel sensor. Thank you for your excellent video of this Viltrox lens! It will be a tough choice for me to choose between the 90mm f/2 and the Viltrox.
Been using mine a couple of days now. Holy smokes is right - and just as good on my XH1. I'm in love - and sold my Viltrox 85mm to help pay for it and though I loved that lens there's no comparison.
Yup, Hugh understands marketing _way_ better than Canon does. Having terrific third-party lenses _brings_ people to a whole camera ecosystem in the first place. Fujifilm will be selling more bodies - and more of even their own lenses - with just one fantastic lens from a third-party. Getting people in the door and letting them have access to great products at great prices is almost always a good marketing strategy to sell even more products and accessories.
I had this lens and an X-H2 for a weekend and loved the combo. The minimum focusing distance could have been a tad closer but only because I was trying to use it like a macro. The only reason for me to not jump into the fuji ecosystem was the X-H2’s slower autofocus to replace my Nikon gear for wildlife, and not wanting 2 camera systems. A full frame Nikon Z mount of this would be heavenly.

I just bought a used copy of the Viltrox 75/1.2 for my X-H2s for a shoot this week and am LOVING it. Coincidentally, I've been using two simulations from Mark Adams that are Leica inspired and they just pop with this set up. Thanks for the great insight into all things cameras!

Did anyone notice this lens has aperture issues - somewhere between 9-16 it often incorrectly opens the aperture and for instance f14 is brighter (bigger whole) then f13 and there is no difference between f9 and f10 (aperture doesn’t change at all. I know 99% of users value this lens for its superb quality at f1.2 but it is definitely the issue confirmed by the Viltox distributor and none of the firmware updates so far didn’t solve it.
Hello, Hugh. To minimize confusion, please try to keep side-by-side image comparisons constant. In other words, don't switch sides during the video. For, example, always show the Viltrox on the left, and the Sigma on the right. Thank you. 6-10-2023

Crud, have I wasted my money on XF 90mm f2?
No. Great lens. Be happy.
That's a good summary of where Fujifilm are today-they need to stay behind after school
Hello, Hugh. To minimize confusion, please try to keep side-by-side image comparisons constant. In other words, don't switch sides during the video. For, example, always show the Viltrox on the left, and the Sigma on the right. Thank you. 6-10-2023
It’s a very fair point - I sometimes don’t realize I’ve reversed them, but by then I’m already deep in edit. I will try harder!
Yes to X-Pro4…
This kens is a big brand killer
Ditto X-Pro4 ........🙏👏👏👏👏👏📷
When are they bringing this to a real mount like the E-Mount🤔 My pocket is ready and willing 🥰
Excellent advice at ruclips.net/video/bbPlA_cor3M/видео.html ! Precisely I want to replace my (old ageing underperforming ) 56mm 1.2 APD for the mark II.. until this Viltrox came out and I didn't know which one to get, or better yet, which one to get first. Thank you
we can thank the Chinese for keeping prices competitive. If it wasn't for them who knows what the other manufacturers would be charging?
Agreed - but this IS a double-edged sword. 🖖🏻
@@3BMEP Indeed it is, and I still have mixed feelings about buying Chinese goods. If I could, I would buy only products made in N. America. But with manufacturing being what it is in N.America, this will never happen.
@@cameronkrause4712 Stick to Japan or Germany.
😍
🙏🏻🖖🏻
I had very bad experience with viltrox lenses to much purple fringing. The fujinon 90mm f2 is Way better
Which ones? But yes: 90/2 has killer IQ (if slow AF).
@@3BMEP viltrox 33mm f1.4 was my first budget lens i bought, it felt cold and no character plus the purple fringing some time it was impossible to fix even in post. Since then i stayed a way from any budget, lenses tried tokina 33mm af ( for a few hours) good glass just the build quality was pretty bad it even had aperture ring.
So yeh fujinon or vintage
Got few super takumar multi coated
Love em. I've been watching your videos a lot I'll give another try to viltrox.
@@ERJOL thanks for the details! Clearly, I’d go straight to the 75/1.2 pro. It is next level within the Viltrox line-up.
