This really was a great way to end the 10th anniversary celebration, with the old host and the new host together with the new host taking over as the old host plays a question for charity about his own "Millionaire" tenure recalling all the exciting memories that the show had provided. By the way, Regis made a mistake when he said he was around for 8 million-dollar winners. He was actually there for 9. The last one was invited back after a mistake was discovered in his $16,000 question from his original appearance during the 2001 progressive jackpot run, and he came back to win the whole thing.

I started watching Regis Philbin’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on Game Show Network ever since May RIP Regis Philbin (1931-2020) You will be missed Regis Philbin.
When I first heard that Regis Philbin was going to host a new game show called "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" I thought the show was doomed because I just didn't see him as a game show host. Boy was I wrong, I thought he was perfect for this show and that run was one of the most amazing runs for a game show.
I highly doubt that Meredith was considered the "worst show host of this decade" since she had an 11 year run and won multiple emmys. She didn't renew her contract because she doesn't have time for the show anymore - she has a pretty big career and family life. The producers have said time and time again that if it weren't for Meredith, the show probably wouldn't have survived this long. Let's hope your friend Cedric can keep the ball rolling. This show might not work as a comedy :P
