He knew the answer to it :O
He must have been absolutely dying on the inside for those 4 minutes.
Stephen Malacaria So true !
Yup! After the commercial break, he admitted that he knew the answer to the question. He was classy enough to say that he was hoping Jehan would get it, while his son stood by worrying he’d lose it, but he would be okay with $100,000. What a humble guy.
🗻🏴
Have you ever lied even once, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain, looked with lust or worse sexual sins? Then you’re not a good person in God’s eyes and in terrible danger of the judgement of God which will send you to hell (a terrible place of pain and sadness FOREVER & EVER & EVER & EVER….). Remember God is the Holiest such that one small lie will induce his severe wrath. Good news is Jesus died on the cross so that you may receive forgiveness of AALL YOUR SINS (No matter how bad or how many). But you aren’t forgiven unless you REPENT OF YOUR SINS & BELIEVE IN JESUS AS YOUR GOD (repentance means turning from sin and doing your absolute best not to do it again, also ask Jesus to rid you of addictions that you’re struggling to shake away-James 4:7). God has blessed us with Great food to eat (kings in the past don’t eat like we do today), shelter, freedoms, fun, medicine, pets to enjoy their company, friends and many more things to enjoy. Yet we don’t give him thanks, Blaspheme his HOLY name etc God wants to give the free gift of eternal life (9999999999999999999999999… years) but we need to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways Believe in Jesus (God isn’t asking you to get religious he wants to have a relationship with you-like a father and his children). Think about why you’re reading this message (Everything happens for a reason) Get saved today since tomorrow is not promised (not everyone lives to 80+); Enter God’s rest; God is taking desperate measures to reach you all because the time is short. Thanks for reading this message & let me know if you have any questions. ruclips.net/video/xfLNcBeXKdY/видео.html

Dammit! SEVEN of the 10 finalists thought they knew the answer and it was the right answer?! Lmfao!
🤣
For real. Have some nuts and go for it
Read the book "thinking, fast and slow", you'll learn that we are biased towards the safe choice, even if the risky one pays much more
People have to give Jehan a lot of credit here: She made it to the $500,000 question with the clock format under the syndicated show which is no easy task whatsoever. I think maybe 4 other people have ever made it there, but aside from that, she even knew the million dollar question and didn’t go for it. Playing the syndicated version of millionaire is like playing super millionaire where the questions are very obscure and just seemingly look impossible to win through.
Awesome! I'm glad I finally saw this and found out if Sam Murray would keep his million or if Jehan Shamsid-Deen would take it away. I forgot to record this episode so I missed it so thanks for uploading this here. I'm glad that I finally seen this.
😁
Good for him-this was so inspirational. Awww and Jehan was such a good sport :)
🙆♂
It's hard not to feel very happy for Sam....he sat through an agonizing seven people trying to win it ahead of him, and he was as gracious a winner as you could ever have.
Congratulate Sam, well done!
I personally would have liked to have seen the pastor win it, but I liked Sam too.
Sam seems like a great guy and I'm glad he won the million dollars.
I also thought it was nice that Jehan took notice of her opponent and willfully surrendered the money to him. Good man, showing her some gratitude, Sam!
😁
Imagine if this was Charles Ingram: "Ive never heard of Mountain in Wales"
(Cough)
Ingram: "Ok I'm gonna go for Mountain in Wales"
Merideth: "You're going for the one you never heard of 😳?! "
He would seriously drive Merideth nuts
The comedy is that Sam Murray only won the $1,000,000 because he had the balls to guess. He reasoned his answer out while 7 of the tournament contestants ahead of him had legitimate partial knowledge of their answers, but elected to keep their money because they were uncertain. All of those 7 contestants had the right answer, but just second guessed themselves out of the million.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Don't forget that Murray wasn't venturing anything. He only won $50,000 in his game. Besides the fact that $25,000 is a paltry risk, he's got the expected value on his side too. I think Murray is the only contestant who SHOULD have gone for it, assuming (wrongly) that everyone ahead of him didn't have any confidence about the answer. (Since they did I'd argue that maybe they should've continued, but you can't be sure.)
⛲💡
@@KanjoosLahookvinhaakvinhookvin false, some of the others had 50k and walked
Also I'd argue that in Jeff Birt's case, he knew to try and break down the word but was coming up on the wrong conclusions on the prefixes (most likely because he was trying to break it down from latin, not greek)
Sam Murray didn’t technically blindly guess his answer either. If you listen closely to what he was whispering to himself, he said “50 million would be too low, 1 trillion would be too high…” so he had also constructed his own educated guess, which turned out to be right!
It actually only looks like the final ticking kicks in when there are only about 4 seconds left, but the ticking starts getting heavy when there are about 10 seconds left. Kinda surprising to see someone consume nearly all their time. She had like 4:36 on the clock, Ken Basin had 4:39 seconds on his clock, & when it took her walk away there was only like 2 seconds on the clock.
And Sam had only 3:23 for his question, but nailed it with 1:40 left. None of the others have an excuse. Sam Murray had brains AND guts, and that's why he's the winner.
⏲️
Jehan also entirely ran outta time on her $500k question because she was a victim of the question being too broad. So as long as the contestant doesnt double dip, running outta time constitutes as walking away because you didnt answer the question
But at least with the money that they just earned, something like when contestants decide to walk away themselves. BETTER!
Good for Sam! He got into the Tournament at the last possible moment and he was the only one to say "What the hell, let's go for it." He deserved the million.
He went for it and won.

I have been to Wales numerous times and I have never heard of this River. I need to be educated clearly!!
It has been 6 years I have been Waiting for this

Not actually a mountain; it is a Hill in Wales
It's a mountain in Wales. I look out every day and can see it.
Along with Robert "Bob-O" Essig in Super Millionaire, he has become the show's millionaire who answered the least ammount of questions (12 questions, not counting Essig's fastest finger question)
$10,000,000 was the grand prize on Super Millionaire.
@@Frankie-O Has nothing to do with winning $1million
Well at least Bob-O didn’t have to sit through 7 other people trying to take the million dollar check away from you 😂
It's been 10 years now...
Imagine being at his place with the clock counting down until you winning or not winning a 1.000.000.
Maybe they should have done this again. I mean I'm only learning of it now but it is good TV now I understand how this worked.

This set up was the best
I knew the answer right away. I didn't actually know it, but it was the only thing that made sense to me. Semi-spoiler below:
Sam clearly knew the answer the entire time, and you can tell what he's thinking as Jehan talks.
Dragon Kly Very true when she mentioned Wales he's face gave it away haha.
I believe he said after she walked away it was a mountain in whales

That was the best format of WWTBAM ever
Now that the clock was added? Time was going to be ticking by! Until the shuffle format.
As Regis would say it: He just won a million dollars!!!
Norm MacDonald WOULD'VE won $1,000,000.
Fun Fact: Sam Murray is the latest contestant to win the top prize on the U.S. version of the show.
🇺🇸
Not anymore: David Chang won it, and became the first celebrity to win the million!
@@GETENTtrue, but sam is the most recent non celeb to win it, but I got to say they both have guts
I had a feeling it was Mountain in Wales because Blorenge sounds welsh
bigblue999 No it doesn't Snowden sounds English and it's in Wales I live in that part of the world and couldn't get the answer.
I thought the exact opposite. I immediately ruled out “Mountain in Wales” because it *doesn’t sound Welsh at all* (and definitely isn’t transcribed Welsh either - the Welsh phonetics just wouldn’t allow it).
I’ve looked it up now and the Welsh name for the mountain is actually Blorens.
@@daithio.7378 bigblue999 didn't say anything about Snowden, so why are you bringing that into the conversation?

💯🙆♂
She cut it WAY TOO CLOSE to the damn time limit!
I clicked on this video as I am going through a marathon of millionaire videos but I was shocked to see one of the mountains in my town of Abergavenny on this. The Blorenge is a short but very steep mountain characterised by the changing colours. In the winter it could be white, in the spring brown, the summer emerald green and in the autumn purple due to the heather blooming. It has a well used canal at the base and is one of the best paragliding/hanggliding locations in Wales.

The mountain is near Abergavenny.
i live in the Rhondda valley in wales and i cant see anything but mountains i literally face palmed when she said i dont think we have mountains! we are actually famous for the biggest one in the uk Snowden. never heard of blorange tho!
She didn't say she doesn't think you have mountains, she said she doesn't even know if you do.
Jehen Shamsid-Deen's Total Prize: $250,000
Sam Murray: Tournament Leader/Millionaire's Total Prize: $1 MILLION
Meredith Vieira won $250,000 when she was a contestant on the primetime version.
This is the second time they shown the confetti in the clock format; The first was the 1,000th episode of the syndicated version.
Actually, the 1000th show happened before the clock format.
🎊
Delighted after she said Ireland was in uk
I believe 6 of the 7 contestants had the right answer to their million dollar questions but walked away instead.

@@Frankie-O I have a good idea:
You could do some castle destruction territory war videos.
Here's how it works:
There are 2 teams e.g. red and blue. You start with 1 marble each and it goes through the tunnel into the territory zone. There are 36 squares including 4 bases. If a red marble hits a blue base the red Canon gets a free shot to destroy the blue castle. The blue base can come back by hitting the red square. There is also a tunnel that leads to a circle and there are 2 more tunnels. One of them leads to the Canon that shoots to destroy the other teams castle and the marble goes back to the start. The other tunnel leads to another circle that has a green circle. If a marble touches it, it goes back to the start with an extra marble. It doesn't matter whether or not a marble hits a base or goes into the tunnel first. The one that destroys the other teams castle wins.
🏰
@mecha03 Yes, the clock series has just started here in the UK. The US version is much slicker as the music and sound fx are all over the place.
NERVE-WRACKING!
Daaaa Ireland is not in the Uk.

Wow, am I glad this happened!

5:36 And the winner of the $1 million is…
SAM MURRAY
This "Tournament of Ten" format was a really stupid idea. The Game Show Garbage had a much better idea, IMHO.
"All the tournament of 10 players would play for one week with the bringing back of Fastest Finger, the winner would play Millionaire with the clock and the end of the week, the person who went up higher than anybody else would win the million, and if there was a tie, the person who spent the least amount of time going up would win the million."
Thumbs up if you agree with this idea.
👍
@plasterdbastard: That's why there were so few big winners during the clock era; to me, anyone could reason out some questions, but no one had the chutzpah to go for it.
With the shuffle format, around half to three-quarters of the Round One questions are questions worth $100-$1,000 in classic "Millionaire", boosting the confidence of a few of the contestants. It's probably why, in about 3 months so far, we've had about 8 Round-One clearers, two $100,000 winners, and two $250,000 winners.
🤩
I dont get the format can some1 send me a video of the a full game of one of these tournament of 10s
Sure, why not.
Yeah and I think he was kinda lucky to have less at stake because he had only won 50,000$ previously so if he had got it wrong he would have gone from 50,000$ to 25,000$. I think it was easier for him to risk "only" 25,000$ than for her to risk much more. Maybe if he had already won 250,000$ he would have been more hesitant with his answer.
🍀
MILLIONAIRE
FINAL
Did Sam say "go for it" @ 4:35 or did I misread his lips?
Yup, he did! He’s such a good sport. He wants the million but he also wants Jehan to win it too, especially since she has the correct answer and he knows the answer.
Sam was the only contestant who knew and went for it, unlike everybody else.
@plasterdbastard For some reason I have a theory that at least some of the 7 contestants ahead of Sam purposely withheld their answer because they knew Sam needed the money more.
blueapple128 why what was his story?
Sam won the grand prize.
We can't really say he won a million dollars by beating the game. WWTBAM gameshow wanted a million dollar winner and made this tournment. But real winner must go trough the 15 questions. Everyone could answer a 4 choices question, but the goal of the game is to get to it by answering all kind of questions with different subdjects and having the gutts to keep some lifelines for the end.
Norm MacDonald would've won $1,000,000 if Regis Philbin had just kept his mouth shut and not talk him out of it.
Great job for Sam and for his guessing, but I think you have to keep in mind that if Sam had guessed and gotten it wrong, he would have only lost $25K from the $50K he had, whereas if Jehan were to guess wrong, she would lose $225K from the $250K she had.
Tony Huang But Sam has a chance of getting knocked out if someone after him get their question right, while if she got it right, she is guaranteed to win the million.
That's why the tournament is fair, in a sense.
😊

Even if you take away the Australia answer, the other three are a more than a 'singular' answer. So choose the one that is one entity.
@BL5965 It's probably a repeating loop played over and over until the last 10 seconds, when the final ticking takes over.
⏲️
I think it would have been cool if they did a split-screen with Sam and Jehan the entire question.
🆒
Fun fact: Jehan is the only contestant on the timed version of Millionaire who has let the clock expire, and be ejected from the game, twice.
What?
@@greysonbishop8685 In Jehan's original run, she ran out of time on her $500,000 question and was forced to walk with her $250,000. The clock ran out again on this question, and she was forced out again.
Although, for this question, she had already essentially decided to walk, whereas in her original run she was very close to finding the correct answer in her head when the clock ran out.
⏲️
@@ThorHC11 she literally said she’s gonna walk away, you could’ve given her another hour and she would’ve walked, what’re you talking about ?

Except Blorenge is a hill in Wales not a mountain, I was based very near there for a while in the army….so none of the answers are factually correct, going to check comments to see if anyone else noticed.
@dcguy30 Yes, Jehan competed before, but according to the rules of the tournament, if you walk away you ONLY get to keep the money you won in your original run.

I still consider Nancy Cristy as the last "Winner" because she went through all 15.

i wish someone would win completely legitly with the time format
Ogi Ogas would've won on the Switch the Question format; Alfred Guy would've won on the shuffle format.
The American version has a timer??
It doesnt anymore, but it does have 14 questions instead of 15
Lou Pickles! You hear that? 15 questions.
Considering none of the 11 questions with the clock have really had their outcome governed by the amount of time left (with the exception of this one, where Jehan was most likely not going to go for it with or without a time limit) no, it proves absolutely nothing.
Also based on the level of difficulty the questions are increasing by each season, and that most contestants who walk still have time left on the clock and less than a handful have been "forced" out, those numbers don't prove much.
⏲️
1/4 chance risking $225000 for a million is not a good gamble
Northern Ireland is part of the UK....
It was filmed in the 20s
Sam Neill is a New Zealander who was born in Northern Ireland.
TBF, he's got the easiest question out of the the other contestants, I mean most people knew the answer to that including me! To make an educated guess on 50B-100B-1T-100T, you already have narrowed it to two possible answers, 50B or 100B, Humans lived on earth for over 300K years, with a life span of 20 yrs, so it is impossible to be 1Trillion. 50B or 100B, if we take 50B they must have been here for less than 50.000 years. and his biblical time reasoning should have lead him to 50B people. But he made a guess and won. He went for it, he was lucky.
Keilani Goggins also got an easy question, but walked away instead.
"I don't even think there are mountains in Wales." Err, Snowdon?
lifeguard2564 err, people like me have no idea what’s a Snowdon
@Anne .. if you were to watch a travel show or two, it will not take you to Wales straight away. It will take you to the most exotic places, but sorry, Wales will not be it..
😀😁😅
🗻🏴
Wales has a very rugged mountain range called Snowdonia, in fact the first climbers of Everest used to practice there as there are very sheer cliff faces and dramatic rocky slopes perfect for practicing what they would encounter in the Himalayas. No, you won't mistake Snowdonia for the Alps or the Rockies -they are not even the tallest peaks in the UK (Scotland has those) - but it is quite a beautiful area and well worth a visit if you are in the UK. The Llanberis Pass is stunning! Snowdon happens to be the tallest peak in Wales and you can reasonably hike to the top in a day or take the easy way out: there is a cog railway to the summit. Dress appropriately though, it rains and snows frequently toward the peak. The Blorenge, for what it is worth, isn't even in Snowdownia...it is in the south of Wales; the mountains are not as tall or dramatic there but Sam Murray will never forget where it is!
With 2 seconds left, I woulda said "C, final answer."

Props for knowing that Wales and Scotland are separate places!
There's a more logistical problem at work here as well. The questions are increasing in difficulty, the clock is here, the most helpful lifelines have been replaced with the least helpful, and the money tree offers diminishing returns. These all suggest budget trouble.
What I want to know is why, if they're in budget trouble, did Millionaire start this Tournament? Were they dumb enough not to figure out that someone would probably win it?

@Daniel Slováček
This was a tournament called the Tournament of Ten. The contestants with the top ten results from the main season got to come back for a million-dollar question (assuming no one won the million). This tournament was held because they were desperate for a millionaire. They made a guaranteed millionaire with this tournament. The contestants played in the order in which they ranked in the season, 10th to 1st. If someone answers their million-dollar question correctly, they automatically move into 1st place. Then, if someone with a higher original rank also answers it correctly, *they* move into 1st place, etc. Sam Murray automatically became a millionaire because he answered his question correctly, and no one else after him could. This was the only edition of this tournament.
Edit: I'm sorry, a millionaire was NOT guaranteed with this tournament, my mistake.
Víceméně v USA pak dávali podobně těžké otázky, jak u nás, takže od roku 2003 nikdo nevyhrál hlavní výhru. V tomhle turnaji chtěli zaručit po šesti letech milionáře.
