I was a non-practicing Catholic for many years, but in 1998 when my grandfather was dying, I became very aware that I wasn’t only helping tend to my dying grandfather, who was in him and with him, but I was also tending to Christ suffering and dying on the cross too. That was the beginning of my journey. Jesus found his lost sheep and brought me back home to the Catholic Church. 🙏🏻

I am new to your RUclips channel. I find it insightful and useful.
I just wanted to share, I had left the church for many years, for many different reasons I chose to leave, and I was determined not to return.
Over a year and a half ago, a life changing event occurred in my life and the lives of my immediate family. I would have never imagined this devastating event that left my heart shattered would be the reason for my return to the church but most importantly back to Jesus and Mother Mary.
Thank you for this episode. It's been an inspirational topic.

Welcome back home! I just like you had been away for over 20 years. Sinful in everyday, then my life went sideways. Came back to the church, started learning the faith. Went to adoration and heard a voice say " I love you always have my son" totally committed my life to christ and mother church, happiest I've been. Once you learn what the church truly means, and mass you would never leave! Catholic talk show has helped learn in a fun way about the faith. But as I've grown ready the suma, Scott hahn, trent horn and more deep catholic scholars has helped deepen my faith. My God bless you and keep you. May our beloved mother pray for you and your family.

I'm sorry for your suffering. Jesus and Mother Mary was always with you. God is always with you.
You just needed a shoulder to cry on. A good friend to talk to. Meditation, like the Rosary does help, writing in a journal does help. All I ask you is to be careful in who you trust. There is Good and Bad in all organizations, in all cultures, in all countries and in all people. But the Vatican is corrupt. Our Lady of Fatima, told the 3 shepherds that many priests would go to hell, in 1917! So, that is about over 100 years, that priests have been abusing children, those priests are the devils.

As a confirmation teacher, I believe a part of the reason why teenagers fall away is a lack of good catechism. My parish uses the Chosen and Decision Point curriculum, and I found often times I had to spruce up the material or make it more applicable to teenagers. It’s filled with a lot of lofty words and cliché phrases that teenagers can’t grasp and take to heart. I think catechesis should dig a lot deeper into the history of the Catholic Church and the history of its traditions. If we are the apostolic church, why are we not teaching our youngsters exactly what the apostles and those that came after them did to worship Jesus and establish His church? Then kids could understand the purpose of going to Mass and its meaning.

I agree "Back to the basics"
I know that rote Q & A is not popular in this
age; but for the basics of the faith; one has
      to know the answers.
That doesn't mean that understanding one's
church is just a question of parroting. But
one has to at an entry level, know the basics
      of the faith.
I also think that families have to make
Sunday a priority within the home and
a time to spend special time with one's
      family.

I have been teaching confirmation for about 15 years and Reconciliation and Communion age for about 20 years. I have told the DREs and many priests, we are not teaching the faith properly. In the 32 years I have been teaching I have learned so much, from researching, that I think we should have been taught. By the time we get them for Confirmation they dont even care. Their parents aren't teaching them. They aren't taking them to church. Why would they care what we say. I have them look up Eucharistic Miracles because they can see the scientific evidence that it is truly Jesus. That usually gets some of the kids. But it has to stay with them and it usually doesn't because the parents aren't thinking about their souls. Very sad.

Lack of catechism is just one thing. More like lack of relationship building as a community is the main reason. People don't just need to go inside the Church, listen to sermon and go. We need to have discipleship, fellowship, community building, interrelationship like the early Church in acts and Protestants are good at that.

    • @amandabula8732
      @amandabula8732 4 года назад +5

you are right. protestant churches are very good at community and relationship and at people been Christ like. My Catholic brothers and Sister think all they have to do is come in the church to participate of the Eucharist and complain about the homily and treat others rude, not acknowledge visitor and run out of the church. Read what the word of Jesus say about who are those in the Gospel who enter the kingdom of heaven!

If you really looked into the history of the church, it is about getting rid of rituals, especially paganism and other cult thought that has been around before Rome. It would be inappropriate for children to be dealing with prostitution, which seems to be THE mainstay of the church. The Apostles all failed. The mass is the remembrance of the promise that was made through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. Regular church attendance would be for the sinners and people who don't remember the sacrifice.

I left the Catholic church at the age of 17 at the inception of what we called "guitar masses," Vatican II changes to the liturgy,,,the whole nine yards, the dumbed down language, silly music, taking communion in the hands, communion rails gone, altars turned around, and the faithful flapping their arms. I became a member of the Episcopal Church. I recently learned about TLM and watched Latin masses while locked down for Covid. I discovered there's an FSSP priest in a not too distant (small) city, I FLEW to meet this Pastor, who is brilliant, kind, understanding and truly holy. He welcomed me with open arms. Anyway, his sermons are inspiring. The Holy Mass is brilliant. I will never look back. Thank you, Jesus.

I also had a small problem with a priest. I was married in the church to my first (abusive) husband. Got divorced a year later. Tried to annul my Church wedding and the Church asked me for a lot of money… I did not have. Then, went to church and spoke to the priest. He was rude and told me not to get close to “his” altar. Wow! I spoke with another Priest and he was very kind; remind me how much God loves me. Years later, met my now husband, annulled the first wedding and remarried in the Catholic Church. I love God dearly, I love the Catholic church and here I’m, serving the Lord as much as I possible can! Love you guys 🙏🏼

I have started going on again alone but it's hard. I asked my husband to come back with me, and he said he would consider it, so hopefully we are on the right track again. I just came back to Catholicism and I brought my husband with me. We’re currently in RCIA classes and feel thankful because we have a good team teaching us and our priest is a very good priest also. I left initially because there was so much judgement against everything and everyone and it didn’t nourish my soul. It smacked of the Pharisees of Jesus time and He was not supportive of how they acted and treated people. I like that the church is making efforts to change a bit. The reason I came back was because I did really miss the Eucharist and other sacraments. I do wish the homily was longer. Lol. I enjoyed the hour long sermon in Baptist church but I also felt like a lot was lacking because the Eucharist was only given occasionally and it just wasn’t given the same value that is is given in the Catholic Church. Anyway, your show really helped my husband and myself(I’m stubborn) to join/rejoin the church. Thank you!

From a former protestant that just entered the Church this year: One problem is the blender of frog parts that is modernism, relativism, and accepting the values of this age - a la critical theory and the "enlightenment" and wrapping those and politics in a Catholic bow and expecting people to accept this in lieu of objective truth. In the words of Saint Paul, if you preach Christ crucified, people will be convicted. There is a lot of confusion because too many things other than Christ crucified are the subjects of conversation. Some of the topics I had to endure in RCIA really highlighted this. People are afraid of offending the sensitivities of pagans. Less environmentalism, conversations about walls, married clergy, and politics. More Christ crucified.

I apologize for the confusion that is going on now. Too bad the bishops tried to get “fancy” after Vatican II. My dad never left the Latin Mass. i went grudgingly with the new church and now after 50 years of seeing the terrible failures of the modern Church we have just signed up to be members of a Latin Mass parish church. I returned after 20 years. listening to EWTN Journey home was a key factor in my returning. I left not knowing how to defend the faith. I believe emphasizing and teaching our belief in the Eucharist is so beautiful. It can’t compare to the symbol belief. But many Catholics believe it’s a symbol. It’s easy to leave if you don’t understand the true Eucharist which only the Catholic and Orthodox churches have.

I think responsibility falls on both the church and the parishioners to maintain attendance. When the whole thing about priest abusing children came about and how the church handled it by simply transferring the abusing priest to other parishes was the dealbreaker for the majority of parishioners. It’s like a relationship between two people. The effort has to go both ways for a relationship to work. How can we have faith in the church when all this child abuse is swept under the rug? That trust needs to be built again and that will take a long time.

I repeatedly questioned the content and I was told I was too old fashioned and I needed to get with the program. Well, I have3adult children who do not attend any church. They also do not believe that there is a difference between denominations. Doesn’t surprise me when the Holy Eucharist was given so little respect and the beauty of the Catholic Church was not stressed. I went to Mass and tried my best but culture and poor cathechesis had their toll

Then the church should start teaching the Magisterium again and it's leaders should stop worrying about how much they are fussed over by the press and like by the media. Or how much money they can fleece from flock and government to continue with the life style they have been accustomed to. Remember folks this is how the reformation started with the financial and moral corruption with regards to the hierarchy.

I quit going to Mass regularly after confirmation and high school. I lived outside of the Faith for around 11 years then I returned slowly as I got married in the Church then had my first child. My biggest step back was when my husband went through RCIA between our first and second child.
When I look back, I would say I always knew God was real and true and I would always be a Catholic. I never have had any desire to explore other religions or Protestant congregations, but looking back I remember being uncomfortable with the music, the felt banners and extraordinary ministers. I love music, but I have never enjoyed modern music used in Mass. It is such a turn off and often made me uncomfortable. It repulsed me.
When you are poorly Catechized, don’t really understand the real presence, and don’t know what you are really leaving behind, it’s easy to let the poor visuals, the bad music, the uncomfortable hand-holding, etc. drive you away. For me personally, I need the quiet, beauty, appreciation of the sacred, and very sacred music to help me see and feel God, especially when catechesis is lacking. Thanks be to God, I’m a faithful, homeschooling Catholic mom of seven kids with a mission from God to instill a solid Catholic faith in my kids. Pray for me and other parents that desire to do the same for the glory of God’s kingdom!

It's strange because religion is dying mostly in the west, meaning Europe, the US, and Canada. And Christianity as a whole is a reflection of this, in fact it's turning in a "color" religion. So, this whole notion that it's a danger isn't true in the slightest, it's just a natural phenomena. People forget Christianity was not originally a "white" religion, the first Christians were jews and their converts in the beginning were their neighbors, not Rome and the rest of Europe. It's like if Taoism became a western thing and then it started becoming an Eastern thing again.

Like a priest named Father Mark Goring , from Saint Mary's Church in Ottawa Canada .. and he has followers from all over the world and even people of other faiths , who praise him for preaching to people the word of God and give talks of different things that happened in our every day life .

The worst part of it is that the Vatican did absolutely nothing to isolate the matter, but instead spread it over the whole Catholic Church. Priest have gone from figures of authority respected by the community to old creeps that parents won't ever let be near their children. The media has a lot to do with this, but the blame lies on the Church not caring about abuse.

These guys want to blame the "sexual revolution" for what the priests were doing. I happen to know that it precedes that time. I grew up in an area that was predominantly Catholic, over 70%, but I wasn't one. I had a classmate who was so excited to become an alter boy and told me all about it. Months later he told me what a priest was doing to him. We didn't really understand what was going on, but it didn't seem right. He only told me because I wasn't Catholic because he knew that nobody else would believe him. His parents were "old school" and I knew them. They were sure that priests were God personified, something my parents scoffed at. He wanted to know what he should do and I had nothing for him. He ended up telling his parents he didn't want to go to church anymore, but he wouldn't say why. He had to go to talk to guess who, to tell him that he didn't want to go anymore. His parents wouldn't leave him alone at home, so he would stay in the car during mass and they were not understanding. In fact, they gave him an amazing amount of trouble about it. Before people start popping off, not my parents, not the teachers, nor the police would have believed him because that was the way things were then. If he had come forward and complained, he would have been in even more trouble. My family moved away, so I never knew what happened to him, but looking at his miserable family life, I doubt anything good.

I think this is one of my fav episodes! Though there’s too many now! Keith Nester conversion story was awesome too.
I’ve commented recently, I’m so happy I found your channel. As a 35 yr old woman who recently came back to the church, I can’t tell you how much things you said in this episode mean to me.😭 My husband and I married in the Catholic Church 6 yrs ago, at Saint Mary’s Basilica in Phx AZ. (The first time I chose to go back to my faith, prior to leaving it.) I’ll never forget how happy we were to get married as Catholics. I do remember feeling apprehensive of the required classes to get married. Though we quickly discovered how beautiful they were. They drew us closer in bond; they helped us understand truly what the sacrament of marriage is and how to prepare for any hard times that may come. We also discovered a large amount of younger Catholics, whom I was surprised to see! As I had been out of my faith for so long.
Sadly, as we celebrated and prepared to be married, the ridicule and opinions we received from friends for marrying in the church was heartbreaking. I wish I had reached out to my local priest or younger people in the faith to talk to. Instead, the year after marrying in the church, I again left it.
So many reasons…the abuse in the church was big. Not believing in why we go to confession any more. So much around me condemning organized religion.
Fast fwd years later, the Lord drew me back. I’ve been on a journey again back to the church. Not just to it, but fully committed into becoming a devout Catholic. I could write so much on how beautiful it’s been…but mostly I want to say that finding channels like this, amazing priests like Fr. Pagano and Fr. Mike Schmitz, along with a few others who passionately talk about our faith and (explain) why we believe what we believe, has changed everything for me. I have a better understanding of our faith, than I ever did as a child. I’ve also discovered again, a large amount of younger Catholics. Something that hit me recently, is seeing many younger people enter the faith for the first time. Hearing them wish they had grown up Catholic like I did, being baptized as a baby and confirmed makes me so thankful and emotional that I was.
It’s just unbelievably beautiful. Life changing. Thank you So much for all the passion and education you All give in this channel. I love the episodes.❤️🙏🏼✝️

I would like to thank you for your show and your hard work. This is the first time I watch it and I notice that you have a true zeal and love for the bride of Christ. Father and brothers, one thing that really pains me are how many millions are leaving the church for Evangelical and pentecostal churches in Latin America. Recently I read that in countries like Puerto Rico and Honduras, Evangelicals are actually the majority of the population and Catholics have become a minority. There are entire towns in Guatemala that are full Evangelical. This means not a single person is Catholic in an entire town. And the problem is, people are very happy and joyful for having left the Church. I have a friend who left the church in South America because when his mother was dying, he asked the priest to come to give her the last rites and he said that he wasn't available. The lady died without the last rites. In his case, I don't know if he left the church or the church has left him.

If this particular arena is one you feel called to fight in, there are good Catholic organizations (many formed and administrated by the laity, and formed after the "summer of shame" in 2018) that you can join and support. Awake Milwaukee is one (they focus on Milwaukee but do a lot of national stuff as well), The Archangel Foundation is another one.
Be forewarned though, it's a hard arena to fight in. There's still a lot of work to be done, and if you don't have a strong relationship with Christ in the Eucharist, your faith may not survive it.

Yes, all have sinned, sorry for what you went through, it doses NOT change that the RCC is still the one true church!
You are Dammed if you receive the Eucharist “Unworthily.” (I Corinthians 11:27-29) How can that be if its symbolic?
(405 A.D.) Theodore: “[Christ] did NOT say, ‘This is the SYMBOL of but, this is my body.’ my blood,’ the EUCHARIST.” (Catechetical Homilies 5:1)
(33 A.D.) “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have NO life in you.” (John 6:53) (Mt. 26:26-29) (Luke 22:19-20)
(70 A.D.) The Didache: Sunday, “Offer the Eucharist… in every place & time… a pure sacrifice.” (14:1-3) (CCC 1322-1419) (430 B.C.) “Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering.” (Malachi 1:11)
(189 A.D.) St. Irenaeus: “Eucharist of the blood and the body of Christ is made.” (Against Heresies, Book 5, Chapter 2, Verse 3) (110 A.D.) St. Ignatius (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2, 7:1) (155 A.D.) Justin Martyr (First Apology 66): “Eucharist is the flesh and blood of that Jesus.”

Get rid of the predator Priests, cheesy 1960's guitar music that after Vatican 2 was considered a " Hip" way of enticing young people, all it did was drive people away that had respect for tradition and Christ. Crappy modern architecture churches with no respectful alter and handshaking, holding hands eliminating any sign of awe and non confrontational sermons from Priests who qustion nothing from their Bishops...... The TLM is what encouraged me to return to the church after many years and I only wish I discovered it sooner....

This is among the BEST shows you have done. You hit all the points that rankle me personally about the Church with the scandals, abuses etc. Before watching your program (and this ties in with the exact topic you were discussing at 43.00) I read a CNA report on the fact that RETIRED Cardinal Whuerl had received $2 million dollars for his personal use from the Archdiocese of Washington DC. This is slightly more than he received in 2020. When asked about this, his office told the reporter to contact the Archdiocese.
So far, no response from headquarters.......and I'm not surprised.
I'm a lifelong practicing Catholic layman and (retired) from 31 years as a Rel. Ed. (American History & Theology as double majors at DePaul U. in Chicago) teacher. I'd never leave because of the very truths of Faith that you all so wonderfully described. I've never heard it expressed better. But as I said in my first sentence, I'm "rankled" and what faithful Catholic isn't?? I'll be sure to follow you on TCTS "religiously" (pun intended!). I hope this presentation hits home with many people....especially family/friends of the NONES.

Thank you so much for doing the Catholic Talk Show. I always love to hear the very important discussions you make. I pray every single day that our Pope will not close down the Tridentine Latin Mass. There is so much pressure from the Vatican to do this. 2,000 years of Catholic tradition will be wiped out. So many will feel alone if this is done. Overturning The Council of Trent, the acceptance and embracing of our Extraordinary Mass by literally hundreds of Popes since Peter. We have been to Mass since childhood every day during the weekdays and Sundays. I am so used to the Latin Mass and I am so so sorry to see what is going on in the Church. Please God answer my fervent prayers.

Two major reason I see as a former Presbyterian are:
    1. Protestant pastors are better at spreading hate and lies about Catholicism to their congregations than the Catholic Church is at disarming their propaganda. Catholics don’t often offer proof other than ‘you’re wrong’.
    2. We’ve gotten away from tradition and tried to be closer to the world. It was a mistaken in my opinion.

We are here to help, others, to serve. Not to take. At the same time, not to be a burden, to our friends, family, society, but to lighten their own crosses. Forget about 'Tradition', that is far gone. It's what is in your heart that counts, the love that you have for others and God, Jesus, Mary. Here is a tip: If you want to be close to God, go outside, close your eyes, feel the wind against your face and know that God is with you.

The lack of community and friendship within the Catholic parish is very pervasive. How is it that I can go to mass within the same church for several years and come out not knowing anyone? That I can sit next to someone in the same pew every Sunday and not know them. Look how quickly Catholics leave the church after mass. Nobody stays after to meet, talk, build friendships or community. I noticed that protestants have stronger community within their churches, perhaps because they have less people, but community is something Catholicism needs to fix.

    • @dannylanders3865
      @dannylanders3865 4 года назад +7

The priest at my parish recognized this too. He implemented more groups (men's and women's groups) and devotions (adoration and stations of the cross) with pot lucks afterwards. It has really helped transform the community.

    • @KingCatsTube
      @KingCatsTube 4 года назад +3

I totally agree, this is one of the single biggest reasons the average parish is running into problems retaining people. You attend Mass and never get to know anyone, constantly surrounded by strangers, no sense of community or church family. Until our local parishes get this figured out they will continue to lose people.

    • @julieelizabeth4856
      @julieelizabeth4856 4 года назад +4

As a cradle Catholic I always found this to be true too. Then we got a new priest in 2011 who really turned things around. Holy hours for men and women. Little Flower Girls and Troops of St. George for the young people. He knows everyone by name and watches for newcomers to welcome them. Full lunch and fellowship after every Sunday Mass. This is a small-town parish that is attracting people from other nearby towns as word is getting out. But these good priests need help in implementing all of this, so search your area for a parish with potential, get involved, and set an example for the others. That's the only way that Catholicism itself is going to get fixed.

    • @larrymelman
      @larrymelman 2 года назад +3

The parishes in my area have the same problem. However they all have thousands of families so I think they are afraid to have social events, because they would be swamped with people. So they don't even try. I know that sounds absurd but I can't think of any other reason. I've asked if I can volunteer to help with socials and been told either "we don't do that any more" (perhaps they did when they were small-town parishes, before the suburbs swallowed them up), or "we'll get back to you" which never happens.

I agree wholeheartedly, we definitely need more catechist. I firmly believe that any catechist who teaches confirmation should do a course in theology so that they can better understand what they teaching. Study the CCC and Vatican 2 docs cause the young people of today have technology on hand and if you as a catechist cannot answer them , they will leave the church. Also the main catechist are the parents , everything starts in the home.
Most Catholic homes nowadays don't so much as have an altar , or prayers are not being said at home.
Another sad part is that the evangelical churches attract our young with their disco type music that they play.

    • @amandabula8732

Wendy Jansen you are so right about the music in evangelical churches and also no bible teaching with correct interpretation. Just verses taking out of content and chapter to make a story line by the pastor. Which story line use by the pastor has nothing to do with what the chapter or Book of the Bible is teaching. Yes you are so right about the altar in the home. I am 58 and remember my mother who was raise Catholic having one at home. I did not understand it at all but it was there. All those image and question from my home was what brought me back from the Protestant world, questioning which church was the original one establish by Christ and what kind of worship was used in the early church since many of the bible passage of the early church did not look nothing like the Protestant churches in 20 Century Western Culture.

I'm one add left to church the reason I left the church I did not know what I believed in even though I had the classes I still didn't know if someone asked me what religion are you how to say Catholic. I did not know what practicing Catholic was I've never heard that term. I baptized 1979 and confirmation confirm didn't go very much Mass because I got mixed up doing things I should not be doing doing drugs drinking too much hanging around the people I should not be hanging around. Then I started going to other churches. 2006 me and my wife got married in the Catholic Church I was off to a good start unfortunately I started going to other churches again cuz I did not know what I believed in the same things I had doubts before. Something I forgot to mention I was baptized at age 22 and I got married at age 50 me and my wife did Stay Together even though I left the church for 13 years that was the main reason I didn't know what I believed in so I came back to the church I've been bad for 17 months now I go to mass every Sunday holy day. And I took the classes over again at RUclips why we believe in that has helped me to know what we believe in before I thot Eucharist was only a symbol come to find out I learn it's the presence of Jesus Christ's body and blood I don't know how I miss that. When I would go to confession I thought it was the priest that forgave sin I found out that's not true I found out when I say bless me Father for I have sinned that I'm actually talking to God the Father the priest is there is to guide me give me pendants. And I don't know how I miss that. I didn't know what a mortal sin was I thought Sin is Sin all sins are the same that was something that my mom taught me but she wasn't Catholic. I learned you have to go to confession when you have a mortal sin. There is also venial sins I did not know about that one either. I also did not know if you do not want to receive the Eucharist Cross Your Arms there was so much I did not know the reason I had so much trouble with learning all this stuff I have a learning disability so I'm in I'm slow on learning

There are strong liberal and conservative Catholics and we all have a home in this Church. I don't always agree with everything you all say, but there are things I am learning as I listen to you, especially the Father. One thing that has deeply influenced my faith to grow stronger is because of the loving words and inclusion I hear from Pope Francis, and my local Priests.

I've been obsessed with catholicism for about a year. I'm in RCIA now its the culmination of about a decade long apologetics journey. Through the class I've met about 20 members of the parish, almost all of them are seriously lacking in knowledge of scripture or have any apologetics. It's the only parish within an hour from where I live and I'm the only one in RCIA this year. I hope I can make a positive difference while learning the lifestyle

      History of Catholicism reports
Scripture has been Hidden, Forbidden and Replaced.
      Hidden by Latin language.
      Forbidden by Council of Trent.
      Replaced by Catechism.

Maybe the question is, "Why is the church leaving Catholics"?

Yes... a Pope who abandons the flock in China and makes war on traditional Catholics. The many victims of you know what and corruption. A clergy promoting WOKE more than GOD. Sure Francis will plant another tree whilst the forest dies. Lots of reasons. But never been said more to the point as you..Why has the church left us. Maybe it was closing the churches. kinda sent the message the sacraments dont matter especially JESUS in mass and then trying to put a band aid over a gaping wound. Maybe it's in fighting among bishops. Its obvious the modernists with lust and passions are attacking the traditional and orthodox among them...the list goes on.

Biggest mistake I made. I left the Catholic Church for 19yrs. I am British. Grew up in England. Married a young American man who was in the U.S.Air Force. He was not Catholic. I married into a very strict Methodist family. Lived with them while he served in Vietnam. Made me go to their Church. I had a very liberal English upbringing. Went to the Anglican’s Church as a young girl. As a mid teenager. My parents moved away from where my grandmother lived. My grandmother always made sure my sister and I went to church. My sister and I did not go to church anymore. My parents did not go to Church. My dear Mum was brought up in the Anglican Church. But never went to church only for special occasions like wedding. My Dad was Catholic but did not go to church. When we moved out of my in-laws I went to the Episcopal Church. In 1978 converted to the Catholic Church. Long story. We have a son an daughter. In about 1995 left the Catholic Church to become a crazy J.W. I did not know my bible as well as I should have,or EarlyChurch history. Started to watch E.W.T.N. The Journey Home in 2013. Started to do research on the Early Church. Last step going to my youngest Godchild’s wedding August 2014. Next day I was back in the Church.

You made life complicated for yourself. It does not matter if you are Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Episcopal, even Jewish or Islam - we are all praying to the same God. We just express our devotion, differently. Here is a tip: If you want to be close to God, go outside, close your eyes, feel the wind against your face and know that God is with you. It's that simple. Be good to yourself, and be happy with the simple joys in life.

St. Ignatius an apostle of St. John:
(107 A.D.) “Where there is Jesus Christ there is the CATHOLIC church.” (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 8:2)
(110 A.D.) “Repent and return into the unity of the church, follows a SCHISM he shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.” (Avoid Schismatics 3:2, 3:3, 4:1, 4)
(354-430 A.D.) St. Augustine: “The one true Church, the catholic Church.”
(A Sermon to Catechumens on the Creed 14)
(412 A.D.) St. Augustine: “Whoever is separated from this Catholic Church the wrath of God rests upon him.” (Letters 141:5)

Then you are naive. St. Francis left his monks, to find a cave to be closer to God. Our Lady of Fatima, told the 3 shepherds that many priests would go to hell, in 1917! So, that is about over 100 years, that priests have been abusing children, those priests are the devils.
