    I was enjoying the game but if I'm honest it soon becomes a drag
    If they add more contents and fixes
    I would probably return
    Would also like to see more survival features like having to replace your oxygen tanks
    Fallout 76 had a redemption but it took a long time

      I hear ya! I like to start over again and again cuz yeah, the main quest is just a tedious fetch quest x30 or w/e. The sidequests (for the most part imo) and the dungeon crawling, IMO, is excellent! Starfield has been described as more of a dungeon crawler by some anyway.
      I mean, I'd love to use some of my nifty starborn powers... but my companions just get pissed off at me when I do!

    I've put a few hundred hours into this game and I'm comfortable calling it "flawed". However, it is absolutely not deserving of the hate-fest it is currently receiving. I'm actually kinda shocked at how angry people are able to get about this game. My most fervent hope is that if someone feels they need to uninstall the game and never look back, "never looking back" will include a cessation of all whining about how horrible the game is.

      I just don't understand that when people dislike a game that much that they are still putting so much time and energy towards it. Sure, there are things I would want to see differently in Starfield but its clear some of those will never happen and others, well, time will tell with updates and DLC. I find it hard to conclude at this time beforehand that, generalized, the game will never be improved.

    For me, one of the most important factors in RPGs are the stories. The story decides if the game is immersive and interesting or not - especially as the plot tends to be always the same - find and fetch some items and kill all enemies along the way or sneak your way around them. The stories can’t be fixed. All the voice actors in all the languages have done their job and all the scenes are set.
    So, what do you think when you land your spaceship in a city on a planet for the first time, stumble into a tricky hostage situation and are immediately asked to step in as a mediator? (And even if you completely screw up and just shoot everyone, you're invited to apply as a law enforcement officer?) Oh yes, and we have spaceships with gravdrives, but in this city people can't even manage to pave the sidewalks so that they're full of puddles and mud. And we're not talking about just any old town, but the capital of the Freestarcollective.
    And in your super spaceship in the 24th century, you must climb ladders from level to level (oh yes, there is one bridge with stairs). You can install brigs on your ship, but there is no mechanism to arrest anyone.
    There are many alien animals and plants on the numerous planets you can visit - but no species with a higher intelligence than a cockroach - what a pity.
    You can and should scan all these animals and plants, but your ship doesn't even have a computer ship log where you can see which creatures you have found on which planet. Although your main mission as member of constellation is exploration… And the list goes on and on…
    And the bugs? - One of the most annoying bugs I find is, when I land on my outpost and try to enter the fly cam in building mode it just shows a loading circle and when I try to use a workbench it says “You can not use this. It is obstructed”. To fix this, you have to quicksave the game and then reload it. But you just came from a loading screen when you landed on your outpost - but that was somehow another type of loading? - This just shows how messy the core code must be.
    So, is there a way to fix this game? - Yes, fire everybody, hire capable people, take a good game engine, think up good, plausible and interesting stories and rewrite everything from scratch.

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад +2

      There are a lot of things that don't add up when you really think about them but I guess that's the result of the game's efforts in touching so many elements where it became impossible to give each part enough depth (like your examples of ship modules and constellation's mission vs her actual capacity to act on it) thus making them less believable.
      I do envy you however that you only have to load a quicksave when your industrial workbench acts up at an outpost, I have to save, exit and reboot the entire game for it to work again.
      As for your last sentence, it's like I joked about: they can always go for Starfield 2 in a decade or so :)

    I laugh when I hear people comment the game isn’t complete. Well duh, that’s why there are 7 dlc to be released. A creation kit to be released and at least 5-10 years of updates and patches and upgrades. I’ve enjoyed the game. Everyone I know has enjoyed the game. I also mod it heavily. The toxicity of gamers is out of control like a cancer. Gamers are filled with hubris, arrogance and self labeled elitism. They are always demanding this unicorn fantasy of a “perfect” game. Good analysis of dev and modders. This game has a lot of life to live as it’s only in its infancy.

    If they wanted to make it so that everyone was happy with the game . All they needed to do is make it so that the hard difficulty does have the survival aspects . And actually make the easy difficulty and very easy difficulty actually easy . A space suit is designed to isolate you from the environment because there is no breathable atmosphere . So regardless of what type of space suit that you're wearing , it was designed to provide an artificial atmosphere . If you walk through a poisonous cloud , it would need to be a corrosive poison that can literally break the seal on your suit for you to be affected by it . But than bullets would do the same thing . So what would be a simple flesh wound would kill you by opening your suit to the atmosphere . The game already is a survival game , every planet that you land on tries to kill you even though you're wearing a protective suit . You have to carry around copious amounts of medication in order to constantly heal yourself from unrealistic damage . I find the AI enemies to be a little bit easy to kill . But the planets themselves are doing an adequate job of making up for that . And no matter how many times you go through New game plus you will never ever be able to do the things that the other Starborn can do . Most of the powers you get end up being completely useless . And young people who were born with a computer up their ass . Are asking for a survival mode . All I want is for them to make the hard difficulty actually hard and the easy difficulty actually easy . A gen-xer like myself shouldn't have to use the TGM console command in order to play the game . If I put it on very easy difficulty , then I should be getting very easy gameplay . If you want it to be hard and you put it on hard then it should be hard gameplay . Todd Howard and Bethesda didn't do that with either . The unrealistic environmental damages are the same across the board .

    What do you mean, modder play test there mod and even do compatibility patches with other mods.
    They even collaborate and play test with other mods and modders this is especially true when you got mods like ui, script extender, plugin address library, uis.
    The do work pretty together and play teat thing especially when creating mods with dependencies, look and the many patches of fnis.
    Most of the times modders are just 5 people doing work for free basically.
    Matter afact its so insane that for a body.
    You need the proper amo, body slide insall, skeletons mod (like xpse) sometimes even fnis, and a physics extension on top.
    These mods also add pathes and compatibility for other mods, meaning their being aggressively playtested,
    not only they have to consider everything in the game and play test
    The also consider many other mods and these mods dependencies and play test it, even to find the proper order of it.
    Matter effect it was the modding community with loot, Unofficial skyrm patch, clutter floors, and with load order fix.
    Who fixed the many errors in even bethesda own order in skyrm where if it was incorrect order, or files need looting due to specific corrupted refrences.
    The own game of speciall edition couldnt even work.
    Of course modder play test there mod, they play test it even more intense and aggressive than Bethesda, especially when the really on other mods they dont just simply add it, they do collabs and cordination.
    It isn't just adding something in the game with no consideration,
    Their is no mod i seen do this
    Modder do there work and their do diligence nd their basically always mutch mutch smaller team then Bethesda, and
    not only modders have to consider and fix the base game loads, but they even have to go to consider both the game, and other mods the depend on, and their order to even work properly.
    Also Bethesda game have generally severe issue in files and refrences, i run loot on skyrm and like 90+% of the errors it detected came with the game.
    And the rest from mods and the mods where 5x more then the game size.
    So in words, modder do playtest their game and clean very well their mods to even work with the game at all, and consider both the game and other mods.
    So i would like you to stop spreading misinformation that Bethesda has to go to a more intense process than moders.
    Becuse modder are giving it for free, and their doing it better with much less people compared to Bethesda.
    I belive covering Bethesda and making them in a light of a suffered animal who has to go threw many processes, and everybody else doesent.
    Is really diluting the situation into something that it isn't
    Everybody knows game development is hard.
    But everybody knows that a product must be good for its price.
    Once you put your price tag you instantly compare your product to anything at the same price and anything below that price.
    And the comparisons are staggering tripple A gaming had far to many excuses for the past decade or more.
    Especially when gaming was mutch harder on the 2000 with the ps2 game cube, xbox, etc and there are many games that aged like fine whine from that era, and stilk are better the tripple a gaming nowadays.
    The problem isant how hard it is, the problem is that its excessively mutch easier than before to make a game nowadays, especially with the information gather from then.
    why are modern game not outperforming good game mechanically from over decade old games.
    Its just confusing
    Every single modder know how hard it is, and even does more work, especially when they dont even have a stable job, or work for a company, and have a very low amount of people making the actual mods.
    Having to account for many more things than Bethesda.
    Its clear that.
    Game development is had everybody knows that, but it is basically strange and perplex that a person or modder;
    who didint make the game and have to break the game with no knowledge of what even going on.
    And scanning 2millions of randomly named files and find out what happening.
    Produces a better work the the people who actually know things.
    Its baffaling
    That the quality of having to do mutch more work, mutch more difficult, and even break game files is higher and more intense.
    That a entire studio who knows whats what in the game.
    Simply put it the game files are a insane disorganized mess the same as the developer and leaders of the game.
    Its absurd how people are trying to shine a white light on bethesda as if it was a puppy under pressure.
    And modder are supposed this massive wolf who can do anything.
    No, Bethesda a multi billion dollar company, and they cant even apply basic game mapping with twine to get everything in order.
    This is literally the first step of game development and brainstorming.
    How the peanut would you build a viable building with no blueprints and info.
    Its crazy that a random dude who rant in youtube like me.
    Know basic efficient development cycle, more than a literal multi billion industry company leaders with years of experience.
    Its crazy

    When we get frame generation this week I will be happy to wait for whatever else they are cooking up. I have fixed many of my gripes with starfield with mods anyway like the UI the HUD the inventories and shipbuilding mechanics I added a RED One X wing I need to build myself. But the parts are there and all sorts. so my game is not like it was yesterday or the day before without waiting for updates. But FSR 3 frame gen is really appreciated and cannot wait. The frame gen mod worked great on my PC. was getting 4k ultra over 120 fps. which is what I want. As I have a 120 hertz 4k 55 inch LG nanocell TV and a 165 hertz 1440p monitor both hooked up to my PC so more fps the better. And tbh the latency is minimal. feels like 120 hertz. So yes FSR 3 I cannot wait. No artifacts and dodgy shadows etc. like the mod. plus the mod messes up a lot in my experience. still great though. New weather effects i added. I can open and close my landing ramp lol. all sorts of cool stuff. which is what it's all about. who sticks to the base game in bethesda RPG's anyway. I think I can now fly around solar systems and round planets also. instead of using fast travel although I only added that last night and am yet to test it. Looks cool though. I am not sure it bypasses fast travel in solar systems but hoping it does. But I am waiting for FSR 3 before I jump back in. same with cyberpunk 2077.

I'd like to see actual "wings" onto the ship builders verses everything looking like aa space age submarine, clothing options would be nice to see other then using a "mod", not so futuristic or made up. some of the locations to quick travel does need to be redone, for instance the location at Mars, inside the terminal verses just outside the door to the underground city...

    The improvements in Fallout 76 supposedly make it a much more playable game. So Bethesda has shown they are willing to keep tweaking for at least a couple years. @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад

      You hit it right on the head; there is a difference between tweaking (fixing what is broken in this game) and improving (to make it more engaging). The latter is really hard if that involves something that was never foreseen in the game. It has to fit in the scope of what was originally intended (otherwise is more modding then development).

    • @oldbutnotdead1
      @oldbutnotdead1 7 месяцев назад

      @@SirStefanGaming I really think that no one at Bethesda did a deep dive over on Nexus to see what type of mods for Fallout 4/Skyrim were the most endorsed and the most downloaded. They were so engrossed at the random generation of planets that they forgot almost completely about content that would be engaging. Plus, come on, CBBE/UPN and Apachii Sky and KS Hair are some of the most beloved mods and you give us Oblivion potato people? There is a HUGE portion of Bethesda's core audience that spends hours on their paper dolls and they wiffed that right out of the park. The clone population of NPCs/randomly generated encounters is also a huge turn off and shows how weak their character creation software is and how little they have for the random generator to pick from. I seriously think that during planning sessions the statement, "The modders will take care of that, so we don't have to spend much time on it" was heard at least once a session. And where are the environmental goodies? I spent a good two years after Skyrim came out just tracking down all the easter eggs and goodies the developers had stuffed into out of the way corners of the map. Literally spent hours figuring out paths I could force my way up mountains to see what was on top. I'm waiting to see when they will stop screwing with Skyrim this time around so I can mod it and jump back in. Same to a lesser extent with Fallout 4. Starfield turned into one of those games where everyone can see the potential that was missed and I can't believe they are shocked at the response. And who were the alpha/beta testers??? Did they not bring up these glaringly obvious flaws during those tests?

    In Fallout 3 there are huge sections of the world that have nothing in them. You then get a content nugget, and this is the bridge between old and new Bethesda. Those nuggets used to be crafted, so each nugget was a pleasure. It was OK to have nothing, because finding something then felt amazing. I swear to the lord above that "another settlement needing my help" is the easiest way to condense new Bethesda. Instead of a nugget of content we get a pre-packaged "nugglet." It's randomly generated, but with such strict rules that a nugglet is indistinguishable from any other nugglet. When even the breaks between nothing aren't pleasurable they cannot fix things with a patch.
    Let me also provide an example. One of the rare nuggets in Fallout 4 is the ship flying across the commonwealth due to a mad robot. It uses some basic skill checks...or forces you to go on nugglet scavenger hunts. It culminates in a nugget...which insta-kills you even in god mode if you remain on the ship. It's a perfect representation of new Bethesda RNG tainting old Bethesda...a company that made Daggerfall before they decided that RNG should be 90% of the game so it fails to be special when you see all permutations during regular play because you failed to even understand how much R is needed to make RNG functional.
    A clue for Bethesda. If you have a random event an average of once every 20 minutes, 5 categories of random events, 3 flavors within each category, and all your other bits boil down to the pre-programmed structure of the areas then you've got maybe 10-20 hours of game. That's assuming you don't get the same event 5 times in a row because you wanted "evergreen" content and decided that meant a settlement needs to be attacked by an RNG group from one of a few fixed locations.
    As far as this video...yeah. You seem to want to give Bethesda the benefit of doubt. The first patch I download for any Bethesda game is the unofficial community patch...because years later it still contains stuff the developers can't be bothered with, that the "but it has to pass cert" argument looks stupid trying to offer. The problem with Bethesda is that they again released a game you "can experience" multiple times and make multiple choices...but the cost is to give up everything which makes the value of any playthrough zero. They "reward" you with space wizard powers...which is great in a game where the whole space wizard thing seems to be the half dried glue used to hold their barely logical systems together that have all been streamlined out of being fun. I can't believe this...but I long for the days of constantly breaking weapons because at least I could use the hunting rifles to repair Lincoln's rifle (Fallout 3 players will know), and I didn't have to expend half a clip on a level 300 enemy despite being maxed out in everything because the scaling for skills basically dies at about level 50...after which the enemy numbers keep going up but there's no way for yours to equally go up.
    Sorry, but Bethesda's incarnation since Fallout 3, and even partially including it, suck. When your answer for "why not vehicles" is "our decades old updates to Gamebryo never assumed anybody would have a frame rate above 30 FPS and you'd take 30+ seconds to cross the load cells we've arbitrarily chosen to support this code spaghetti then you've failed to be a good developer for years...that's not a patch, that's why Bethesda was a huge acquired by MS...the one entity who similarly cannot understand why things that worked before don't work forever. Long live windows live...always online xbox...MS store...Zune...Windows phone....Windows Home Server...sorry, seem to have blacked out for a second there. That much stupidity is blinding.

    I wish they would make another 100 to 300 handcrafted points of interest they can throw into the mix. I'm sure every person that has played the game has eventually come across the same science lab or abandon outpost. They also need to add some grit and grime. It's such a PG13 game even tho it's rated M for mature. I guess it's rated M just cause if the shooting and gun use. Your literally never see anyone using drugs or even smoking a cigarette. True. For me, encountering the same POI 3 times in an hour is definitely a mood killer because you can almost run it on auto-pilot. The only thing missing is an auto-sim option; then the POIs really just revolve around RNG-ing loot.

    They've already fixed a ton of stuff, when the game first came out the performance was terrible and the game was trying to melt my cpu and it ran terrible, now I run over 100 fps most of the time. It's still got a ton of bugs, but I love the game. They've already added a lot of stuff to planets, and stuff is closer together and it takes less than a few minutes to get anywhere. I have huge hours in and I've been finding new still lately. I'm looking forward to what the modders can do with a 1000 planets and moons. The game should have never been released when it was, it wasn't ready for prime time. The only bug that could get me to stop is the bug that makes you go to NG when your game gets too big and you start crashing.

      @@SirStefanGaming They do. In fact many $100's of millions are spent on influencer marketing every year in the games industry alone. If you see a positive video on a globally mocked and derired game such as Starfield it is almost certainly paid for in money or gifts in kind (access, merch, etc). Failing to disclose that is against US law by the way, but it's rarely enforced.

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад

      I think it deserves a bit more nuance. A sponsorship (which is not illegal or unethical) offered for 1 video to an influencer is not by default a bribe. Otherwise any and all types of transactions can be called bribery. Any political campaign donations would be as well as tipping at a restaurant; both of which are perfectly legal in the US (failing to disclose compensation, be it a sponsorship, donation or investment is against the law in a lot of countries actually).
      Just so we're clear: I haven't had Todd Howard on my porch yet, offering me a Starfield-custom design MoonSwatch trying to get me to write a perfectly positive review for Starfield 😋

    Does anyone know what the blue magnifying glass is and the explanation mark also means?

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад +1

      The blue magnifying glass is displayed when you are tracking that specific resource, which you can toggle on and off when examining a recipe on a crafting bench. That way you know that, when you come across one of the required resources when looting or scavenging, you need that item in order to be able to craft whatever recipe you were tracking the resources for.
      The explanation mark is displayed when you have picked something up that is new in your inventory. Same goes for when you have modified a weapon.

    Dont get me wrong it does have some stupid design decisions (dialogue, exploration rewards, loading screens and childish writing being the worse offenders)

    Yes modders kind of have a "break", they don't have the "red tape". First, funny how there DOESN'T seem to be this "red tape" or "procedures" when they RELEASE their , not completely working game yet when it comes time for those "fixes" , oh red tape, red tape. Second even AFTER they go through their so called "procedures" they STILL release stuff that doesn't work orrrrr , an oldie but a goodie, it fixes the ONE thing but breaks a DOZEN OTHER things. Red tape , procedures, yeahhh right. I'm NOT interested on WHAT they have to SAY anymore. WHAT are you DOING? 8 YEARS and you got a "patch" in...BETA? "Every six months", how many "six months"? annnddd how are they going to keep that up when they're "laying off" THOUSANDS of the WORKERS?

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад

      Agreed, actions speak louder than words. Releasing a game in relation to it's state (how complete is it) will always be a mixed decision between development and corporate. Otherwise you get Star Forge on one end and Star Citizen on the other :P If I said every 6 months in the video I apologize; it's every 6 weeks for releasing an update.

    7:00...That's the problem, "...meaningful content". Forget bugs and glitches; that's to be expected from a BGS game.
    There is no hook at the beginning. No moral or ethical dilemmas with serious considerations for any action you may take. Why is this labeled a "role playing game" and has no role playing in it?
    Take the Free Star Rangers at the beginning. It doesn't matter what you do at the bank; you're made a deputy no matter what. The entire game gives you the illusion of choice.
    Uninspired fetch quests. Go get coffee and bring it back. This wasn't a set up quest that leads you to some sort of decision making. Just...get coffee. Really?
    Uninspired side quests. So you accidentally stole a cup in New Atlantis. The next thing that happens is you're arrested and sent to a holding cell with all your equipment. You have a choice, join the United Colonies CIA Mobile Task Force and take down the pirates or don't. All this because of a cup of coffee.
    A totally uninspired and brain numbing main quest.
    All rewards are lackluster.
    Everything is poorly written and I feel sorry for any voice actor that thought they were in for a unique and exciting wild ride with the player. "Do you know the way to Uranus?" None of the voice actors had a pivotal role with the 4 main Companions being simply insufferable to be around.
    You can't "fix" these things without a total rewrite. And that's why I'll never play the game again. But hey! You can spend countless hours padding your levels and useless perks at an outpost. And then spend the next 300 hours playing in the shipbuilder. Oh joy! And at the "end" you get to do it all over again with NG+.

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for taking the time to clearly state your experience. You are right: as soon as people start to wonder "what am I even doing here?" or "how am I impacting the environment around me in a meaningful way?" and they come up empty then yeah, why play if there is no reward, no incentive?
      Hence the "meaningful content" remark because if the current level of engagement is low from today's content, then more of the same isn't going to make a difference.

    I do enjoy this game. But there's so many glaring errors and just blatant lazy writing, and diesign. Its getting harder to over look the more I play. If they drastically reduced the number of planets and just handcrafted one or 2 and kept procedural generation on another 2 systems, it would be instantly better. The game feels so copy and pasted. I enjoy playing but the more I play the more I'm noticing that it feels more like the devs pushed out a game to meet a dead line rather than put time and love into a game they were truly proud of.

Polish a turd and it will still be a turd, but now they need to have that turd composted, to transform it into an improved, nutrient-rich soil structure from which Starfield can grow and flourish!.....I'm sorry I did my best to stay within the theme and this is the best I could come up with.
      In all seriousness (and I mean this in an objective way) people paid good money for this game so from that perspective alone it would be preferable that the updates and DLC did more than just polish.

    There is phrase used in the legal profession. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. Starfield can not be "fixed" any more than the Titanic can. There *should* have been a Skyrim amount of content on each colonized planet, given the amount of years the game was in development, but there is not a Skyrim amount of content in the whole damn galaxy.

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад +1

      Very true phrase. At some point they must have agreed upon the amount of content per colonized/core planet being enough to keep people busy and now that it turns out through player feedback it is not, I'm curious to see if they will start churning out DLC's (paid or NMS-approach) per planet or per gameplay segment to start enriching it to up the level of fun or enjoyment. I would actually have to check how long it took for Hello Games to start adding actual content instead of bug fixes. Anyway, I think it would be to BGS' credit to paint a big bulls-eye on the goal of adding more content and/or find a way to bind more gameplay elements together. Easier said than done of course....I'm just arm chairing away here :)

  • @zupmeoff

    Bethesda is not sincere about wanting to fix the bugs in the game. I say that, because if you read the list of fixes most of them were rare occurrences. Why would you prioritize a fix for a rare occurrence?

    • @SirStefanGaming
      @SirStefanGaming  7 месяцев назад

      Because even though they might not be the #1 issues of all feedback collected; they might be the ones possible to fix within 6 weeks to get a batch ready for the first update deadline? And picking 100 of them is a somewhat symbolic number to storm out of the gate with. Other bugs or improvements might take a lot longer due to complexity or interdependencies with other issues so I'm assuming they are not only prioritizing according how high the bug ranks on the scale of # of mentions in feedback but also the time it takes to complete it. And they did promise everyone an update every 6 weeks so perhaps the reason why they would prioritize certain occurrences over others is because they can't afford to not make the deadline or only have 5 fixes in it.
