1. Incineroar became my main about a year into Ultimate's lifespan. I like heavy grapplers in fighting games and am also a pro wrestling fan, both itches that Incin scratched. 2. Byleth became my secondary. I wanted to pick up a swordfighter after I dropped the Pits as my main for Incineroar. Byleth fulfilled what I was seeking in a swordie, a psuedo-heavy long range fighter that packs a wallop. I used to use Ike for this reason but for some reason I don't enjoy using him in Ultimate. 3. Sora was one of my picks during the Ballot days. I've yet to play anything from the KH series but I understand the importance it has for many people. I even geeked the hell out during his reveal. If it's any consolation, I do main Sora in SSF2. 4. Banjo & Kazooie were my other pick during the Ballot. I also didn't play B&K all the way on N64 the first time trying it. However, after their reveal, I gave it another go on Xbone via Rare Replay and came to understand why the bear and the bird clicked so well for many 90's kids.

My favorite newcomers list is actually quite similar to yours. The only differences between our lists is my included the Castlevania reps(I didn't count echos as a separate character), Joker, Terry, and Kazuya. I didn't factor connection when I made my list. However, I did use series soundtrack when I made my list because I like music.
Even though I never got any of the DLC fighters, I still enjoyed watching all of their reveals. KH is one of my fav franchise (even though I've only played the mainline games). All I have to say is thank God my parents weren't home when Sora was revealed. It's the only reveal to make me lose it completely and my brother laughed at my reaction (he was watching the showcase too in his room).
You see, people say Nintendo dont listen to the fans but when you look at Smashs newcomers of Inkling, Ridley, Simon, King K Rool, Chrom, Dark Samus, Banjo, ARMS, XB2, Sora and Steve were fairly highly requested. Id even say they'd went out thier way to add more villains and more female options too. But you know some people will obsess over Byleths inclusion 🙄
In fairness, if we get another Xenoblade rep in the next game, it's likely gonna be a Xenoblade 3 rep and from there it's most likely gonna be Noah and/or Mio

Sora! 22:20 I remember thinking it'd be cool if they gave Sora not just a different keyblade, but an all new one based on Smash itself, like how the world keychains of KH3 were revealed alongside their respective worlds.
I feel bad for Byleth fans a lot of the time as many people set their expectations too high thanks to the previous 4 entries on the first Fighter Pass being all third parties (Joker, Hero, Banjo, and Terry). As a result when Byleth was revealed as the last one of FP1, it led to so many people throwing tantrums it felt like because not only was it not a big name third party character, it was another "lol Fire Emblem character" when realistically Byleth is unique because they don't play the same as most FE characters in the game. And like I get not having your most requested character put in, I was hoping desperately for Euden from Dragalia Lost to be put in, but even then I felt like people needed to take a step back to refocus their anger back when that reveal occurred.
Sora was a Dream Drop Distance come true for me. With hindsight his inclusion had a lot backing it up. But with the stigma around Disney influencing a lot of people in terms of how likely he was and the fact that Sephiroth got in and felt like he'd be the "Square Enix/Final Fantasy" related guy in the 2nd pass I mostly held out hope for Sora all the while thinking that something crazy could always happen. And it was also fun because I think he was one of the few character reveals I did a reaction video for and is probably the only reaction video where I felt like I went crazy on microphone as opposed to finding things cool in other Nintendo showings but overall still having a good handle in my emotional state. Overall I'm just really glad he made it in, even if he ends up not coming back in the very next game for whatever reason
I was very happy when the king of the Kremlings himself returned in Smash Ultimate since he never came back at some point and was replaced by music playing Tikis and ice creatures.
Honestly, same here. #1 made me lose my absolute shit like no other fighter managed to do (Joker could've been close if I didn't watch the trailer on a public bus home after work and didn't realize instantly that I was watching it from IGN's channel). Plant was hilarious and I used the shit out of him for a while, but #1 hit me in a strong place. ... I really need to finish 3.
Glad to see your return, my friend. Sephiroth is my number one favorite newcomer, hands down. I saw his trailer more than a thousand times since he dropped back in December 2020 and I fought against him during the Sephiroth Challenge. I didn't know who he was at first, but he left a HUGE impression on me, so much that I dropped my old mains for him in five seconds and I haven't stopped using him since! I also have his amiibo, too. Can't wait for FFVII Rebirth to drop in 2024!
Okay, time to judge these thoughts, because that's just what I like to do for videos like these. 10: I think that his brutality despite how intelligent he is makes him even scarier. A wild animal fights brutally because of survival of the fittest. Ridley does it because he finds it fun. He could win without the brutality, but he makes the specific choice to do so. Which I know most people didn't like, but I had fun with it with my brother. It was a great pleasure to see Pyra/Mythra to be in Smash Bros Ultimate Franckling there would be some type of people be complaining about another anime sword fighter that made it in Smash Bros Ultimate. But you know what I just don't care what they say back then let them complain all they want but at the end of the day they will realise that it's their own fault for overhyping their expectations
My personal favorite new character is Isabelle because I already enjoyed how Villager plays and she has a nice spin on that. Though my other two newcomers I liked were Incineroar (because he is cool as hell even if I don't like playing as him) and Ken because as someone who does play Street fighter super casually he is as iconic as Ryu it kind of had to happen.
I was also hyped when Pyra and Mythra were revealed, I had Recently Purchased the game Thanks to watching Chuggaconroy playing it, and I laughed when he was at the part where they were out of the Party during his playthrough and then they got revealed for smash!
Banjo-Kazooie was the only fighter I felt had a realistic chance of getting in, so I'm happy they got it. Also, I felt happy with Byleth getting in since it was a Fire Emblem character I knew about for once because of my obsession with Three Houses when it came out.
You can tell that Nintendo cooked with the DLC when a majority of this list is DLC. Even the honorable mention of Piranha Plant is DLC! My favorite newcomer is Min Min btw. ARMS was one of my favorite new IPs, and I was shocked that the ONLY representation it got in the basegame was the Spring Man assist trophy and a couple of Spirits. Not even a single track from the awesome, Mario Kart 8-esque OST, when even _Snipperclips_ got a remix? Outside of that, Min Min is also my favorite character from ARMS, so her being the one added is probably the most hyped I was for the game. ...it would've been the _second_ most hyped if I also got my MOST wanted character, Rayman, in the game, and he would've been PERFECT to be released alongside Mii costumes such as Altaïr and Rabbid... but I guess Nintendo wasn't satisfied with just Chrom as the only new Fire Emblem rep. Other favorite newcomers include Inkling, King K. Rool, Piranha Plant, and Banjo & Kazooie. I'm actually satisfied with most newcomers. Even Byleth, who I think didn't need to be in Smash after all the Fire Emblem representation we've got, felt more deserving a spot than Corrin from Smash 4, due to how more successful and "worthy" Three Houses is compared to Fates.

And my personal favorite franchise is Persona. So you can imagine my reaction when it's December 6th 2018, the day before Smash & 2 days after the Persona 3/5 Dancing duology released. I'm streaming Persona 5 Dancing because I decided to stream each Dancing game one day at a time when suddenly friends are blowing up my Discord DMs because I'm just sitting there playing the chill test taking song while the entire Persona fanbase is on hype fever because Joker was the FIRST DLC CHARACTER WHICH IS SOMETHING I'M STILL NOT FULLY OVER
6:33 Uhhh Chaoskey, Chrom AND Lucina we're both poster characters for Fire Emblem Awakening. They we're both in the promotional material and the boxart for the game. Sure Lucina was disguised as "Marth" in those promotional material but it was still Lucina regardless.
But if we're looking at the Fire Emblem series today, Chrom and Young Tiki (along side Marth) have kinda taken over as series mascots. After all, why do you think Marth, Chrom and Young Tiki were chosen as the legacy Fire Emblem characters in the crossovers in Dragalia Lost? Like, Chrom (at the time of this post) has more versions of himself in FEH than Lucina, can you believe that? And when I saw Young Tiki as one of the DLC Emblems for Engage, I knew Chrom was coming.

To answer the timestamp question, no, that was from the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game itself. As for your question for the top spot, well, I specifically stated there would be a victory screen revealing the top 3 placements AFTER I talked about each one. The victory screen plays at 22:37 and should tell you the order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st place, with the fighter victory pose being the one who is my #1. The order in which I talked about each of the top 3 is the fighter numerical order seen on the Smash Ultimate website and is NOT the order of their placement on my list. Sora was talked about last before I revealed their placements because he is the last fighter numerical on the website.
Sora was my number one pick that i wanted. I was hoping for Shadow but he was shafted. But then i had a hope. A want. I wanted Sora and like many people were constantly told that it wouldn't happen. Then it did. I cried and still do because of my love for my second favorite video game franchise. What's my first favorite? Heh Heh. Isn't it obvious? If not I'll post in the next video since these are a part of my watch later list.
Ultimate could be the Smash with the best newcomers, but I have a huge problem with them, it is that half of them can only be accessed as DLC's, since Sakurai focused a lot on bringing back all the veterans that the newcomers left aside and even more so due to the lack of time that half of the newcomers are eco fighters, also that there were characters that I did not like their inclusion such as Min-Min, Pyra/Myhtra, Sephiroth, Isabelle and Piranha Plant. So for that reason, I think Brawl and Smash 4 have better newcomers than Ultimate.
I understand why you feel weird that Min Min is in but not Springman. But I personally disagree both characters are deserving to be in Smash. As Arms is a more obscure game that not many people cares for. With a huge roster like Smash, if you would include an Arms character long past their prime, it makes the most sense to choose their most popular character. Either that, or just Springman. I don’t think Arms needs to have two reps. (Let alone one at this point) So it’s either Springman or Min Min. Which is a hard choice as one is the most popular, and the other represents the franchise.
My 5 favorite newcomers are Incineroar, Joker, Hero, Byleth, and Pyra/Mythra while my favorite Echo fighter is Chrom. The only two newcomers I hate and never wanted were Banjo-Loser and Stefan the Blockhead because I never cared about their boring franchises. I just wished those two Microsoft losers never got in as playable fighters but Mii Costumes.
Normally, I'd record in my room in the open because I had a huge bunk-bed that served as a pretty nice acoustic. But we got rid of that bed in favor of a smaller single bed, so my room is now very echoey. As a result, I've been forced to do my recordings in my closet from now on. That's probably where the difference in my voice comes from.
It does make it all the more stranger that Euden from Dragalia Lost never appeared in Super Smash Bros Ultimate at all despite being a Nintendo IP. No Spirits, no Mii Fighter Costumes, no music. Zip! If I were to harbour a guess as to why is that he originated from a mobile game and given the reputation of those types of games... Yeah I can understand why, an even bigger reason to make a Switch port of Dragalia Lost so more people can play. Just ditch the mechanics that were present in the original and you're good!
I'll be honest; I like Pyra and Mythra's playstyle. BUT... I'm not all that invested in it because it's over too quickly when I play as them. Xenoblade 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and as such seeing Pyra and Mythra make it into Smash was super hype for me!

You can tell that Nintendo cooked with the DLC when a majority of this list is DLC. Even the honorable mention of Piranha Plant is DLC!
My favorite newcomer is Min Min btw. ARMS was one of my favorite new IPs, and I was shocked that the ONLY representation it got in the basegame was the Spring Man assist trophy and a couple of Spirits. Not even a single track from the awesome, Mario Kart 8-esque OST, when even _Snipperclips_ got a remix? Outside of that, Min Min is also my favorite character from ARMS, so her being the one added is probably the most hyped I was for the game.
...it would've been the _second_ most hyped if I also got my MOST wanted character, Rayman, in the game, and he would've been PERFECT to be released alongside Mii costumes such as Altaïr and Rabbid... but I guess Nintendo wasn't satisfied with just Chrom as the only new Fire Emblem rep.
Other favorite newcomers include Inkling, King K. Rool, Piranha Plant, and Banjo & Kazooie. I'm actually satisfied with most newcomers. Even Byleth, who I think didn't need to be in Smash after all the Fire Emblem representation we've got, felt more deserving a spot than Corrin from Smash 4, due to how more successful and "worthy" Three Houses is compared to Fates.
About the "Echo Figthers being underutilized" rant, I can imagine which character you were refering to that didn't get in
There was no reason why Shadow the FREAKIN’ Hedgehog shouldn’t have been an Echo Fighter. It was the obvious choice, and they didn’t go with it...
@@ChaosKey4013 Banjo is a 3d collect-a-thon in similar fashion of Mario 64. Where as Mario 64 invented the genre, Banjo helped popularized it.

And my personal favorite franchise is Persona. So you can imagine my reaction when it's December 6th 2018, the day before Smash & 2 days after the Persona 3/5 Dancing duology released. I'm streaming Persona 5 Dancing because I decided to stream each Dancing game one day at a time when suddenly friends are blowing up my Discord DMs because I'm just sitting there playing the chill test taking song while the entire Persona fanbase is on hype fever because Joker was the FIRST DLC CHARACTER WHICH IS SOMETHING I'M STILL NOT FULLY OVER

Uhhh Chaoskey, Chrom AND Lucina we're both poster characters for Fire Emblem Awakening. They we're both in the promotional material and the boxart for the game.
Sure Lucina was disguised as "Marth" in those promotional material but it was still Lucina regardless.
But if we're looking at the Fire Emblem series today, Chrom and Young Tiki (along side Marth) have kinda taken over as series mascots. After all, why do you think Marth, Chrom and Young Tiki were chosen as the legacy Fire Emblem characters in the crossovers in Dragalia Lost? Like, Chrom (at the time of this post) has more versions of himself in FEH than Lucina, can you believe that? And when I saw Young Tiki as one of the DLC Emblems for Engage, I knew Chrom was coming.
About Min Min I think they should have gone with Dr. Coil because she the main antagonist

To answer the timestamp question, no, that was from the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game itself. As for your question for the top spot, well, I specifically stated there would be a victory screen revealing the top 3 placements AFTER I talked about each one. The victory screen plays at 22:37 and should tell you the order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st place, with the fighter victory pose being the one who is my #1. The order in which I talked about each of the top 3 is the fighter numerical order seen on the Smash Ultimate website and is NOT the order of their placement on my list. Sora was talked about last before I revealed their placements because he is the last fighter numerical on the website.

I wanted Sora and like many people were constantly told that it wouldn't happen. Then it did. I cried and still do because of my love for my second favorite video game franchise. What's my first favorite? Heh Heh. Isn't it obvious? If not I'll post in the next video since these are a part of my watch later list.
Ultimate could be the Smash with the best newcomers, but I have a huge problem with them, it is that half of them can only be accessed as DLC's, since Sakurai focused a lot on bringing back all the veterans that the newcomers left aside and even more so due to the lack of time that half of the newcomers are eco fighters, also that there were characters that I did not like their inclusion such as Min-Min, Pyra/Myhtra, Sephiroth, Isabelle and Piranha Plant.
So for that reason, I think Brawl and Smash 4 have better newcomers than Ultimate.
I understand why you feel weird that Min Min is in but not Springman. But I personally disagree both characters are deserving to be in Smash. As Arms is a more obscure game that not many people cares for.
With a huge roster like Smash, if you would include an Arms character long past their prime, it makes the most sense to choose their most popular character.
Either that, or just Springman. I don’t think Arms needs to have two reps. (Let alone one at this point) So it’s either Springman or Min Min. Which is a hard choice as one is the most popular, and the other represents the franchise.
My 5 favorite newcomers are Incineroar, Joker, Hero, Byleth, and Pyra/Mythra while my favorite Echo fighter is Chrom. The only two newcomers I hate and never wanted were Banjo-Loser and Stefan the Blockhead because I never cared about their boring franchises. I just wished those two Microsoft losers never got in as playable fighters but Mii Costumes.

Normally, I'd record in my room in the open because I had a huge bunk-bed that served as a pretty nice acoustic. But we got rid of that bed in favor of a smaller single bed, so my room is now very echoey. As a result, I've been forced to do my recordings in my closet from now on. That's probably where the difference in my voice comes from.

I'll be honest; I like Pyra and Mythra's playstyle. BUT... I'm not all that invested in it because it's over too quickly when I play as them.
It's kinda why I leaned heavily on CatDog and the Beavers in NASB. Because it took the stance-fighter style Pythra used and actually made it feel like tandem play was required, rather than encouraged.
