    The problem is that they tip back. The JD with a higher and further forward center of gravity can decelerate at the top of the hill, and "throw" himself over the top. The others actually would work better in the real world, but they lose this test that is rigged to benefit the objectively worse machine.

      in a real world contingency, should the machines with normal weight distribution (rear heavy when unloaded) need to climb that steep of a hill, they could still make it, in reverse.

      Our skid steers at work pop wheelies coming up on our pintle trailers all the time, you just keep the throttle down and drag the ass end on the ramps all the way up. That operator looks like he could have done the same thing to get up the hill. The dirt looks compact enough to accomplish but instead he kept letting of way to early

    You can clearly see the drivers are on two different skill levels. The Deere driver was moving his bucket to counter the weight. The others until the new holland just kept it in on position

    More weight in the ass end of a loader means it can lift more. i know for a fact new bobcats can out lift john deeres in the same class.

      Matt McNeice if you watch close. The deere driver is properly moving his arms and bucket to make it over. The drivers of the others were not. Hence you wont make it over that engineered hill with out dropping the bucket. Lol my 9 year old noticed it before he even showed me the video. 👍

    All 'competitors' of the john deere are heavier at the back (counterweight) When driving a load thats a huge advantage. Not to mention it is prohibited (safety wise) to go uphill forward with a skidsteer with no load in the bucket. No john deere for me.

  • @tommymodified

    Not surprised with its climbing capabilities.. familiar with JD 313 skid in a rental fleet we had 6. The wheelbase is slightly different & weight is shifted more forward. This does help with climbing but driving on hard surfaces especially asphalt the machine tends to jump and bounce in turns if not careful. They were structurally strong machines but often plagued with annoying electric issues. Foot petal lockout solenoids often fail or freeze in cold, starters quit, interior instruments panels went bad, failed safety switches. Some older models had the wiper motor on cab and not the door it was a terrible design would cause the door to open and crush wiper blade. Worst part was JD couldn't supply our company a decent wire schematic for the units & parts are ridiculous expensive markup. Remember one wiper motor was somewhere around $500🙄

    It's like when my 6 year old makes up rules for a game to where she always wins. They perfectly engineered "Mt. Skidmore" for the John Deere to win. If you notice, the operator on the John Deere always levels the bucket out at the top to get just enough weight out front. That's how close it is to tipping backwards. When coming back with the "loaded" bucket, the bucket is never full. its loaded to the front to look full but it has plenty of extra room in the back for more dirt. BUT, if it had a full bucket it would tip forward going down the "mountain". Perfectly rigged to not tip either way

    I see many of you haven't studied physics. The John Deere isn't necessarily more front heavy. Because if that was the case it would almost have the opposite problem and be prone to tipping forward on downslopes. It's not because its tilting its bucket going over the last rise because the other ones did try that trick too and it didn't work. It's about weight distribution and center of gravity. The John Deere has a wider wheelbase front to back than most of the other, especially the Bobcat. And it has its rear wheel especially set further back. Also where the loader arms attack and where the pistons attach to the frame and arms also makes a big difference. Better weight distribution and lower center of gravity. Makes a ton of difference.

    I just wonder the difference in lift capacity since the machines that the front wheels were coming up are obviously weighted towards the rear. I've had several bobcat over the years, an 864 a t190, a t320, a t870 and a t770. Right now I have two 299d cats. I have rented a few John Deere's over the years and had no complaints but I've only used them a day here and a day there. I wouldn't recommend the cat skid steers that I have, nothing but problems.

      We were breaking up the bottom of a pool with our Bobcat s595 in the bottom and the Deere on that was on site up top to using a buddy system to get the concrete out of the pool. Huge difference between them in every way. The Deere started tipping forward without even a full bucket 🙄

    Because their weight is in the back to help support heavy lifting. I run a bobcat every-day and when you pick up 3,000 and 4,000 pound tires you need that weight in the back.

    Not sure about that john deere, but after owning a new holland for almost 40 years (1973 L35) I bought an S185 bobcat and must say, it would need the grapple on front to take any hill, while our new holland would have no problem on uphills by comparison. I think the bobcat seriously outperforms the antique NH otherwise. I own numerous John Deere Tractors but it wasn't hard to convince me to stay away from their skidsteers...although they had numerous manufacterers including NH

  • @Bendigo1
    @Bendigo1 Год назад

    I think this was less about the machine and more about how the machines were being used. You can see the Deere constantly moving the bucket and arm to get better balance while the others just left them in the same place. He would raise the bucket to tip forward and lower it when he was level. Master vs Rookies as it looks to me.

    From what i see,it all cause by weight destribution,Bobcat and Cat had their weight on their back,while John deere weight in front,and New Holland balance on both front and back..

  • @Jimo225
    @Jimo225 4 года назад

    ok. so a john deer can go up a steep hill empty. But the drawback to that is it will have more of a chance of flipping over forward with the bucket full and raised? or am I missing something? The key to get the other skid steer over the hump is to attack it af full speed forward and as you approach the top of the hump begin decelerating and it will pull the front end down and once your over the crest your good. If the operaters used that technique it woudl of been a more even race.
