I was just about to order spare r2 button and was quiet sceptical that i had damage but when i open to see the motherbord there was no damage and then when i closed the controller just wanted to check one last time and BOOM. There its working. Thank you very much for this video.

Might be because my controller is older, but the trigger buttons are set up a lot different. Like there's no tab that holds them in, just a little plastic bar
Hey man, My spring for the R2 is totally fine, but its not even responding when I press it still. Sometimes, it does it by itself but it keeps shooting nonstop. After when I press a different button it stops, after it doesnt work anymore again when I press it. Do you have any suggestions?
hmm maybe the spring is sticking at times or that rubber piece that has a connector under it is worn out. There is a link t replacements in the description. That may be the issue, you can try and let me know if it works. If it does't, I would get a new controller at that point so you don't keep wasting money on random parts.

For me its usually the silicon tab that gets worn and needs replacing, i can see a little cut in it where the trigger hits it all the time. Still works for shooters as it still activates a bu!tton push but for racing games i cant get past 85% of throttle. Still an easy fix if you get the right little part.
I have been loosing my mind playing fh5 on pc with a ps4 controller and just decided to run a diagnostic test. the same issue as yours. I got my controller used for like 10$ so not too bad

I have one question. How does l2 r2 detectes the amount of press? I thought those two might have separate mechanism. But to my surprise they too had toggle rubber pad only. So my question how does it identity the amount of pressure ( throttle for example)✌️
My r2 button fell out but it still works because the thing that makes it work is inside, how do I put the trigger back on? Also this is what NBA 2K21 does

QUICK UPDATE: MAKE SURE THE BIG WIRE GOES BACK THE SAME WAY IT WENT OUT. IF YOU REVERSE THAT LONG WIRE AFTER YOU PUT THE CONTROLLER TOGETHER, YOUR CONTROLLER WON'T CHARGE.

My problem was that randomly it started typing the r2 input in the password and when I finally got it to open and started a game the friends list kept coming and going bc of the r2 trigger will this fix it?

Probably the same thing. Now that you know to take it apart, you can always check.

I was playing triple threat online on NBA 2K21 and I slammed my controller, the R2 button popped out, but I can still use it, without the R2 button
My r2 is stuck and my players are basically sprinting non-stop, I can’t do any skills or any basic commands like ball rolls. I used this tutorial but it’s still bugging, did u have the same issue with sprinting and shit and did u fix it?

My problem is that if u look above the spring part the place where the r2 isn't in place every time I press down on my r2 it does come out of pocket and then I do have to push it back in any suggestions?

Different interior. The L2 and R2 buttons appear to be connected to the underside rather than the topside, some of the plastic bits aren't there, and the circuitboard is blue. Help?

But... Sony are making these controllers less and less durable. That’s a fact! Anyone who plays even moderately - and games that require a lot of button action knows how fast a fault occurs.
I’ve just spent like 5 hours taking apart several controllers. Cleaning the analog parts and replacing buttons.
Took tome cuz I’ve large hands! Everything so petite fs lol!
But would rather that, than having to go out and get a new one.
I bought a new controller 6 weeks ago. Had to return it after the right analog went.
Was sent a replacement on 27/10/2020 - as of today 02/11/2020 - the left analog is drifting badly, and the dpad is making squeaking noises. Fuck Sony! Think I’ll start giving the pc a lot more time.

Michi W This is gen1. I don't think the inside is different or the buttons. The 2nd gen has upgrades like color, light bar in front, and faster response on the trigger.

I know it’s almost 2 years later, but my hook is broken and it doesn’t register me pressing L2. Is the hook mandatory for it to work? I have the spring under the controller where it’s supposed to be but it doesn’t push it back as hard like my R2 button which does have the hook.
pretty sure you do need the hook i would consider just buying a new controller

ᵐᶦ ʰʸᵈʳᵃ The controllers have springs on the triggers, so they do need springs to recoil and press. If you're missing it, check the other buttons to see if they have them. You may need one if that is the case.

My Controller was Broken but now Its Repaired
I know it's 6 months later, but I have a question I was wondering if you'd be able to answer. The little blue and black plastic piece underneath the rubber/gel beneath the L1/L2, R1/R2 buttons. Is that replaceable or fixable at all? I don't have any issues with the rubber/gel part of my L2, so I can only assume that my problem lies beneath the rubber/gel part.
hmm I would say the round silicon in those rubber pieces underneath may be worn down. So when you press it, it's not connecting to the "blue and black piece" properly. You can get a set of the silicon r2 pieces on amazon, just make sure it goes with your controller. Some controllers are older models. If that doesn't work, I wouldn't keep wasting money trying to figure it out ya now.
@@monstermark7825 I've switched the conductive rubber bits out with multiple other conductive pieces, even swapped the original R2 for the L2 and the R2 continued to work fine while the L2 still didn't work. I've looked for videos talking about the parts underneath the rubber but I can't seem to find anything. Even found a video that was a complete tear down of the controller, but they didn't mention the black and blue piece underneath the rubber even though they had accidentally grabbed it with pliers. The most annoying part about it is that I used the controller for maybe 5 hours of game play dropped it on the left side and it stopped working right away. Sorry for the super long comment.

Where is the hook 😭
The hook for the wire? You might not have it on yours or some, doesn't matter. It's just to keep it out of the way and neat.
