I just started accidentally getting into the fish hobby and figuring out through trial and error on natural aquascape, everything’s been great water good fish healthy and lively even able to hunt naturally only problem iv had is keeping my plants from floating up now and then so going to redo it in a few months and just keep moving the floating ones back to hold down areas for now

9:36 5gal is great for two ADF's! But they need to have that tank only for themselves. Aaaaand they are pretty hard to take care of, so I wouldn't recommend them for begging nor advanced *fish*keeper:)
I second your statement on the unwanted bettas at the pet stores. After having bad luck with some of the healthier looking ones I’ve been trying to get ones that appear to have damaged fins or birth defects. Even if they end up not living super long in my care due to the conditions they came from before arriving at the store, at least they had a cozy 5g tank with lots of plants, hiding spots, and tannins (driftwood my beloved) for the last bit of their lives instead of living in a cup. Qotw: I’d say anything with chocolate (esp dark chocolate) is what I tend to go for most. Sometimes I’ll try weird and crazy chocolates just for fun too!
So far my current one with a birth defect is doing well! He had a lot of new fin growth that still appears to be growing(?). I can’t tell if he struggles with swimming since his dorsal fin clearly isn’t ever gonna grow in, but it might also be his nerite roommate bullying him. Recently the tank was making a lot of noise and it was because the nerite was on the outtake for water circulation. Since the water flow was messed up he seemed to be struggling a bit :(
Honest question. Is my tank overstocked? Have a 22 gallon long boy. 2 comets I won at the carnival. Both are 3 inches currently. (Honestly thought they would die within a week, won them so they could at least live well for their last days. They were skinny, pale orange and not very active. Now they are bright, growing and getting calico colors and very active). 5 blue velvet shrimp. Paradise fish African dwarf frog 4 guppy pairs. Have a filter with ammonia fluval media. A sponge filter, as well as just planted some carpet grass.

"L128" is actually a code or identification number used by hobbyists, breeders, and researchers to classify different species of catfish in the Loricariidae family. This numbering system is often used in the aquarium trade to distinguish between various species and subspecies, making it easier to track and discuss specific fish. And in this case "L128," refers to a specific species or variant of Pleco, which is the Blue Phantom Pleco (Hemiancistrus sp. L128). This code helps enthusiasts and sellers identify and communicate about this particular type of Pleco without relying solely on common names, which can vary and lead to confusion. It's essentially a way to standardize the classification and discussion of different catfish species within the Loricariidae family.
I can't tell you the number of arguements I've gotten into for asking about L number plecos with other hobbyists who have turned around and told me to stop trying to be smart and use the common name. Considering there are multiple plecos with similar common names, some of which even look similar, you'd think they would have appreciated the more specific L number. Though, having seen some of their Bikini Bottom pineapple house rainbow gravel shoe boxes...I'm not sure hobbyist is the right word. I'm currently on a quest for the holy grail of L numbers...you wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork.
Chris you always manage to make my day! I love your content so much I binge stream every fish tank review while waiting for the new upload, because if you I have started and love aquascaping, thank you Chris ❤
10:12 I would be pretty annoyed at how soggy my feet would get while soaking in the water. I would rather they make a really strong glass floor and keep the pond of kois underneath it with good filtration and aeration.
That tropical tank with goldfish and livebearers in it had all sorts of things wrong with it and all of them had to do with it not being in my house! Betta fish rehab seemed a little "fishy" to me. Recovery from spinal deformity? Not sure about all that. Favorite candy - Sweetarts or Sour Patch Kids.
The village aquascape reminds me of minibricks' dioramas. They do alot of stuff like this, but its always artificial with clear resin instead of water. To see something similar as an aquascape just blows my mind. 10/10.
You can most certainly put a hermit crab in a "5 gallon tank". OP did NOT specify that the tank was an aquarium, which implies that it will be filled with water. You can tell people to "Google it"...it's on them to Google it correctly
Oh man, that first tank reminds me of what I've been wanting to do for years. Basically the same type of thing, but with something like a huge 40 gallon long, and a "abandoned city" feeling, with a full city scape like New York, or San Francisco, the buildings broken down and being overtaken by flora and fauna, obvious lake or sea coming up at the bottom to "flood" the city, and then if I could do it properly to account for the husbandry, I wanted to make the top land half able to house a northern alligator lizard. That Is my bucket list dream paludarium and terrarium
There was a time I was absolutely convinced I vacuumed my neon tetra up in the middle of the night while I was doing a water change (I think it may have been an emergency water change) and the water was really dark, I remember sifting through the water meticulously before dumping it but it literally disappeared 😮💨
My favorite candy changes weekly. My 4 year old neon tetra died last week I thought you would be proud considering everyone told me they only live 2 years- anyway off I go to do water changes
QOTW: My favourite candy is one I haven't seen in 50 years. When I was a kid our corner store had these square candies that came 2 in a package and they were similar in tast and texture to what Canadians call Rockets and Americans call Smarties, but they weren't exactly the same. I don't even remember the name.
Great FTR! And for the "pets for a 5 gallon tank", a lot of where I look says that African dwarf frogs only need 3 gallons...so sad, I have 3 of my own happily in a 10 gallon, they move around a lot and need so much more space than a 5 gallon provides. Also, I didn't know that some gourami's can get that big till i read they can reach 1.5 ft! I think I will stick to honey gourami haha!
Imo the goldfish tank is quite beautiful, lots of aeration and rounded rocks, their colors look vibrant and healthy... ...I'm still worried about the angelfish though
The tanks reviewed in FTR always blew our minds every Monday. It is holiday today in our country and we are celebrating National Heroes Day. Salute to our heroes. ❤ My fave candy for QOTW would be Mentos, my good to go buddy 🥳
Hey Chris, big fan of your vids, I recently just cleaned out my tank and I’m rescaping it right now, only thing is the gravel is rainbow barf mixture, but it still has all of the nutrients in it, what can I do to make it more natural but still keep all of that nutrients
Hey, I'm interested in getting my first tank and wanted to know if adding a little bit of water from my dad's outdoor pond would be a good way to start cycling The pond has been going strong for like 20 years and has koi in it (in a separate part of the pond are water lice, snails, and plants that the water travels through first since the koi would just eat all of that)
You wouldn’t take off a point since the fish aren’t to scale? I mean if the fish are to scale… damn! They’ve got some real lunkers lurking below their house! I mean if they caught and butchered one of those fish, they’d be able to put on a bigger feast for the village than if they had butchered a water buffalo. Yeh, five of five works for me. If it was actually to scale I’d have to give it six out of five which would be just as impossible as making the fish to scale. Whoever did this, you did a stunningly amazing job.
9:30 theres a axolotl to i'll see if i can edit some how to them not in 5gallon its gets worse look at 3gallon guppy is there to with goldfish and more save the fish
I've ended up with shrimp in the draining tube XD Just lifted the other end up and flushed his lil butt back into the tank. Totally unconcerned, he just went back to munching things the instant he landed, had me panicking.. then laughing >.>

5:21 those are marsilea. basically underwater clover. they are more like hydrocotyl. you can grow them as a carpet or as a bush. they send out rhizomes everywhere and will cover the bottom tank like carpeting plants but you do need to do more trimming to keep individual leaves the same-ish height to make it look like a carpeting plant. i like these because even when they grow into a dense carpet, there is still a lot of swimming space for baby fish/shrimp to swim around underneath the umbrella leaves. that makes marsileas ideal for keeping semi-aggressive fish with smaller fish/shrimp or their fries.

That
Is my bucket list dream paludarium and terrarium
About a year ago, I saw a video which showed the construction of THIS tank. It was amazing!
7:08 i think sparkling gourami make bubble nests just like bettas do. So i think the male is putting the eggs in his nest
You’re so freaking right 😮that 🐠 tank was amazing 🤩😻! It is phenomenal! 5 out of 5 for me too…..👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The tanks reviewed in FTR always blew our minds every Monday. It is holiday today in our country and we are celebrating National Heroes Day. Salute to our heroes. ❤ My fave candy for QOTW would be Mentos, my good to go buddy 🥳
Cool! We have similar holiday like that in Canada :)
I’m sitting on my balcony in Brisbane, cup of tea, Valium, mind blown.
Cherry on top of my day, first my new filter arrives and then a new ftr🙌
I LOVE Mounds bars
The dark chocolate and coconut mix 👌pure perfection
My favorite candy is Mambas!
Hey Chris, big fan of your vids, I recently just cleaned out my tank and I’m rescaping it right now, only thing is the gravel is rainbow barf mixture, but it still has all of the nutrients in it, what can I do to make it more natural but still keep all of that nutrients
I would say my favorite candy is Mexican candy since I grew up on that but I can specify
That really blows my mind. I love the Asian village!
watching this while sobbing cuz some1 ik died but istg this makes me feel sm better thank u 💗
In saltwater you can definitely keep hermit crabs in 5 gallon Tanks, but land hermit crabs get way bigger.
Ferretwonderland makes such installatians regulary, awesome channel, not really my type of tank/style but sure appreciate the effort put into them.
crazy cool!
2:45 what kind of gouramis
Awesome fish tank. I really enjoyed seeing this.
Hey, I'm interested in getting my first tank and wanted to know if adding a little bit of water from my dad's outdoor pond would be a good way to start cycling
The pond has been going strong for like 20 years and has koi in it (in a separate part of the pond are water lice, snails, and plants that the water travels through first since the koi would just eat all of that)
You wouldn’t take off a point since the fish aren’t to scale?
My first thought was a pump for artificial rain, but lights would look super cool too
for sure
That America mural in the Sweet Fishs Cafe!!!
I've ended up with shrimp in the draining tube XD Just lifted the other end up and flushed his lil butt back into the tank. Totally unconcerned, he just went back to munching things the instant he landed, had me panicking.. then laughing >.>
Diorama tank was amazing!
Good minnows. Good setups.
5:17 I think it is a corymbosa
I remember that medaka rice fish have been brought onto the ISS as well.
Finally a current video!😁😁😁♥️♥️♥️♥️thank you!
