This is probably the best video I've seen about the X-T50 :)
Oh thank you so much really appreciate it
I also agree!!
Got notification from Fujifilm about XT50, jumped straight to your channel for indepth review. Keep up the fantastic job. Thanks a lot for your efforts.
Oh thank you very much!
As always Richard has the best review of a new camera. Great and in-depth review.
Thank you very much
Great review! Thank you for being so thorough!
Excellent and very comprehensive review. Thanks!
Nice work Richard!
Best review, very balanced and thorough. Have the xt30, will probably upgrade
Thank you very much John!
Brutally great review, you are not trash talker as most youber. Brilliant. As for your request about our (the commentators) opinion, I am a Sony fan and shooter; but, the features + (sleek tactile, almost no grip) form factor of X-T50 with this new, possibly, amazing "kit" lens, I am buying this camera instead of picking any new Sony cameras. As for Sony, my A7III with PZ28135f4 lens is still unbeatable; but, it is huge. The Sony A5100 has been my always-with-me-camera, with its brutally great features; but, this X-T50 now, although a hell lot more expensive, is going to be my goto camera. I was just about to buy a better lens for my A5100: the gorgeous Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 DI III-A VC RXD; but, now, after watching your video, I think I'll go for the X-T50 instead. One more thing, I still have and love and use Instax Share SP-2 printer for a number of years, and this camera can directly print over to the SP-2. The X-T50 has decent in-camera raw editing features, and with some practice, I might be able to elaborate a workflow to print decent photos directly from the camera, too, hopefully. I am fully convinced that phisics cannot be ignored: a large APS-C sensor camera can take a hell lot better fotos than phones with their tiny sensors. I do urban sketching and nice photos taken on location for references are very important. And because of this "artisty approach" film simulations might be a perfect match. X-T50 might be very popular among urban sketchers, who are keen on image quality.
thank you this was a great overview of all the features
Thanks a lot
Great review thanks.
Thank you! So useful video
Excellent review congratulations really think my 18mm F2 lens can still be used on this camera?! I also own viltrox 27 mm f1,2 and now my camera is Fuji XS20
Thank you! ❤
So I'm interested in the X-T50. My biggest deal-breaker, however, comes down to the custom recipes. I know the Film Simulation dial allows for stock film simulations. I was wondering if I can still store my own custom recipes (such as those found on FujiXWeekly) in the Q-Menu? I can do that now on my X100v and I really would like to continue this practice if I move over to the X-T50.
I have the XT-50 and you can still program 7 customs recipes. You set to “C” on the film sim dial and use q menu to switch between your 7 custom recipes.
The product releases are coming thick and fast. Looking forward to your review of the Lumix S9 and 18-40mm kit lens too.
hey Bayonet, I don't know what you are talking about 🤔😂
@@TheRealRichardWong Oops, ignore that then, just chattering in my skull. :P
What Bayonet first said!
❤❤❤ S9 S9 S9 ❤❤❤
@@TheRealRichardWong lumix s9 review when? 😊
really comprehensive review Richard, and yeah I agree they have packed a lot in this camera, and the packaging is so good. I'm so tempted to switch back to Fuji :)
Thanks for watching Kunal!
Good review...I can't wait to get my Fuji X-T50.
Enjoy it
Hey Richard, again a very good review. I am glad that Fuji is offering a more affordable and smaller body without critical compromises. I will try to send late afternoon a NL of DPRF out to link to your review. Best wishes.
Thank you Dirks, you are amazing! Really appreciate it
This is my first time watching one of your reviews Richard and I immediately subscribed. Excellent in depth review. I am a photographer who uses the xt-30 as my daily camera and am definitely going to look into getting the xt-50 as my primary camera and the using my xt-30 as my back up. I use an aluminum alloy hand grip plate L bracket for my xt-30 and wondering if I will do the same for the xt-50.
Awesome, thank you very much!
Here in Europe 50% price increase vs predecessor X-T30II. That's laughable. Latest prices from today: X-T5 € 1.649,- vs X-T50 € 1.520,-. And going for X-T50 you loose weather resistancy, dual card slots and you get lower burst rates, garbage battery, worse EVF and this funky FS-Dial that nobody wants. That's not a deal, that's a joke!
I like the smaller size and don't really care about battery life as I always turn it off between shots - but damn, much as I like it, no way I'm paying X-T5 prices.
It's so cheap, I will get two.
This is an excellent package. It seems that in 2023 and 2024 most new cameras being released above about US$1200 are very ‘complete’ and don’t miss out on any key features now.
Lack of weather resistance is a bummer but that is about it. Some would prefer an articulating / floppy screen vs up / down. I prefer those that do both like the GH6 but those screens are too bulky at the moment.
The body design looks much nicer. Fuji has class.
BUT the camera I’m most excited about is the LUMIX S9… I look forward to your review and I realise you might not be able to comment on that at the moment 🤐.
Great video!!!
thank you!
Very much appreciate you doing the side by side comparison with the 26 mp sensor. I too was very skeptical about Fujis decision to go to 40 megapixels.
thanks for watching!
Realtime lut vs film simulation, which one do u prefer?
A slightly more substantial grip to fit the bigger NP-W235 batteries would have made this a purchase (after all, with a lens attached it won't increase the max dimensions), but not being able to use my existing batteries (and so needing to carry another set) ruins what is otherwise a very compelling package for me.
A skinny old style wrist strap used for pocket cameras like a Canon 310 HS adds a huge amount of security and will not break. Plus the skinny ones don't get in the way. I use one even with my X-H1, which already has the perfect grip.
exactly! the grip does not really add to the overall bulk of the camera with a lens attached which is why it is a bummer they didnt make it bigger to accomodate the bigger batteries
Tough to choose this camera and the xs20
Thank you
Can you compare it with Xs20?
excellent review!
thank you Paolo!
Just ordered this camera based on your fair and balanced review. I ordered the 35mm F2 and will pick up the Artisans 27.8 for on the go shooting. Have you shot with the 23mm or 16mm lenses?
Yes i shoot with the 23mm f/2 WR a lot as I have one myself. But not really with the 16mm
The film simulation dial sounds like it's straight from X-T200/X-S10
I just bought this camera and am completely new with Fujifilm, my last camera was a Canon 450D, any video recommendations where i can learn all the settings and tips?
ordered a silver one. I love shooting hefp film simulations
Enjoy!
Film simulation sounds fun.
Compare three 4O MP cameras: XT50 USD 1400, Nikon Z7ii USD 2000 & Sony a7Riii USD 2000 = no trainer 😊!
thank you
thanks for watching!
the rounded sides with its contrast to the edgy viewfinder hump, looks just beautiful to me
Feeling a bit of buyers remorse after just pulling the trigger on an X-T5 over waiting on the X100VI. Need some reassurance please!
You don't need it.
like your review the best and how you approach it, many others come across as a influencer and expect people to validate their review, you are more upfront and educational at the same time vs ogling over a new product
Ridiculous prices here in Australia. average $200 more than the xt 5
It's a great camera. Just overpriced. No beginner will invest 1000+. What happened with the really good fujifilm deals? A shame they moved away from that. Why buy this over xs20? And why not spend the 200-300 more to get a flagship. Just bad pricing by fujifilm.
Not just that , it has poor battery life and old school EVF....... 🥴🥴
@@westdk6705 meh. I still use the npw126 a lot with my xt3. 400 shots is quite good. Even for professional use, switching batteries isn't the horror scenario some people might wanna make you believe they are. And for a Budget range, that would be plenty. But due to the pricing it isn't a budget camera anymore. So I have to agree that for that price the battery performance is low.
just buy it cheap from hong kong in a few months
Just for the film simulation dial?
@@nightdonutstudio hahaha. It's a great idea but doesn't offer any room to grow in to. Once that dial get's updated to be fully programmable I would actually consider it a feature. Until then it's a beginner'ish dial on a 1200+ camera....
Fuji needs a simulation that looks like the film Nacho Libre.
Their older designs look better to me personally
X-T50 or X-S20 ?
Do you want the 40MP sensor? do you like the modern DSLR style design (X-S20? or the retro style (X-T50) more?
@@TheRealRichardWong Thanks for your feedback. I love small cameras and the sensor is certainly a great added value. But the large battery of the X-S20 is phenomenal. I think the movie simulations are fantastic, but would always regret it if I chose the wrong simulation at the wrong moment. I think the control dial is fantastic and cute. It's a tough decision. The price doesn't matter. Great Video.
Only thing I would have liked was an improved view finder
Yes true, for the price ,I think it would be great to have a higher resolution evf
Try the X-H1.
To expensive for me. I'll stick with my XT30. The photos look just as nice.
First!
no Fuji , gracias. once falling for the marketing and buying an xs20 was enough
Absolutely loathe the film simulation dial. Its the worst gear atrocity of modern times. I should be the target market for this camera but its totally putting me off
"I should be the target market for this camera"
Yeah because Fuji should design and market cameras just for you.
I never use film simulation, I think only photographers and youtubers use this! !! Totally wrong of Fujifilm to do this on an entuast camera. Could do this to the most expensive Fujifilm cameras!!!
Was considering this camera but it's out now!! Better used this on a bigger battery. As well as using the film simulation settings for other essential settings.
Huge disappointment!!
Film Simulations is literally a Unique Selling Point of Fuji cameras.
Ok so 1500 Euro. Yeah right😅😅😅😅
I feel like Fujifilm is shifting away from its core value. I don't like the design, it looks more and more like Canon mirrorless camera now.
Award winning but you don’t seem to be famous 😂
