Hey man this is awesome and really helpful I'm focusing all my goals right now to try to get into the Air Force and then get into security forces. This is comforting to see what it's like and pretty excited to have this as a career path. Compared to home it seems like a golden opportunity so I'm super anxious for all the pain and pride and camaraderie
I want to say,it is what you make it, don’t let others fool you into thinking it will be bad, get your foot in the door, and enjoy the Air Force quality of life
Awesome video! I was curious if you know what people think of the CATM shred out? I haven't been able to find out too much other than you teach people how to handle firearms, but it sounds pretty cool to me
Yep that’s pretty much exactly it! They need more people joining right now! So if you went SF, once you hit your year mark on station. You then could start applying for that job
I was wondering are you able to be in the reserves as SF? I’m interested in law enforcement and working towards my bachelors and SF looked interesting to me
Hey this video is awesome, I am actually joining the Air Force and right now I'm talking to my recruiter with my mind on Security Forces. I was wondering if you could tell me usually how many days a week they work (ik it can be different for other bases) also do u decide what attributes u want like Ravens or special response teams?
Schedule varies from base to base and by needs of the mission. An example of a common schedule is panama 12's, which have you work 7 12 hour days over a 14 day period (2-3 days at a time, with breaks between). You cannot "decide" that you get to be a Raven or any other special duty. At best, you work to make yourself stand out from your peers and apply for any available opportunities that may come (opportunities are often dependent on which base you're at... not every base has Ravens, as an example). Security Forces is a decent career, but you work longer hours than most of the Air Force and have a lower quality of life compared to most other airmen. It's been described as "like being in the Army, but you work for the Air Force", which I feel is pretty appropriate. I would recommend it over joining the Army, unless you want to be infantry. If you want to be a cop, just realize that (depending on the base) there is a lot of security work that you may end up doing (as well as stuff like gates) that means you may not get much of a cop experience.
hey man I’m going to meps here in less than a month still trying to decide if I should do security forces and possibly go the phoenix raven route or if I should do loadmaster or special missions aviator what would you chose between those and why
looking back, me personally I wouldn't do security forces. but I knew I didn't want to do it coming in lol. loadmaster is a real cool job man. you get to travel hella and will get extra pay for it. with security forces you'll be scanning ID's at the gate lol. there are pros and cons to everything tho obviously, so I would think about what you're most interested in doing.
@@Nick-gh6leyou usually have a few prerequisites before they’ll let you do it like obtaining your “5 Level” and doing your “Qualification Exam” which is just testing if you know your applied job gate guard, patrolman etc..
USAF Security Guard Forces does not have the word "police" in it, like military police. They're security guards like the retired guy who works the gate at my condo.
