Well, if keto/ carnivore kills me, I'll die feeling much better, in no pain or exhausted from carbs and sugar. 😂
Without keto/carnivore i was going to die before my 50s anyway, that bad most carbs were hitting me even when i wasn't overweight and i ate normal portions, few processed, etc. So i´m stuck here for life it seems.
AMEN
I’ll feel this way
This freedom
Or lose my life

My life is 1000x better
And I’ll stay carnivore forever

I'm sticking with Dr. Westman and Dr. Berry
I have been on and off of Keto since 2009 and kept rebounding each time I attempted to cycle out of ketosis. I have finally learned that moderating did not work for me - trigger foods are a real thing. Not cycling has allowed me to keep off 70 lbs over the last three years.
The longer I watch , the more convinced I am that he is just trying to sell a book.
Absolutely! Just like his good friend Mindy Pelz, who has very little to say but lots of books to sell 😉
And they are both so loud, and they both talk at the top of their voices, and they both want to make us feel that we're going to die without their precious help!! 😝
@@aurapopescu1875Dr Westman has been doing a ketogenic diet in his clinic for a number of years. I'm not aware of any book but even these influencers that do produce books make very little money off of them. The markets inundated with low carb books.
As a carb addict this would spell disaster AGAIN! I lost 100lbs then carb crept my way almost all the way back up
Along similar lines here. Dropped 90 lbs in about 2 years, then put back on another 30 lbs over the course of 6 months. I have gotten things back under control to the point that my sweet tooth is manageable, but haven't started to lose weight again.
Yep, same.
Me too
Don't be hard on yourself! Obesity is not understood & may never be. Keto is a diet as any other. Recidivism is not lower on keto; it's not THE answer. Take heart. We fight an invisible enemy. Best luck.
@@mariad1151yes it is lower lol
But u must incorporate IFing and some EFs too
Timing is almost as critical as macros for IR
Which is the root
My understanding is that if you eat enough protein with your fat, you will bump up your insulin level modestly, and that will temporarily take you out of ketosis, without adding exgonenous carbs.
For me, increasing my protein a bit increased my glucose and did not affect my ketones. Until you actually measure it's hard to say.
I think you don't actually need to get out of ketosis. Just some insulin is all you need. Remember: it's an orchestra. Insulin spikes will give you what insulin does, but glucagon plays along and a little louder and wins in some organs like the liver. The human body had millions of years to learn this.
@@KAT-dg6el Why do you need any carbs ? For many people, a little turns into a lot of carbs, they are addictive. Sort of like a reformed alcoholic saying I can have one drink.
Im not telling my doctor how im losing weight. The most I will say is that Im exercising everyday.
Good for you! I told my doctor I’m carnivore and she just looked at me like I grew horns on my head and ignored me. I couldn’t be more healthy on the carnivore diet.
I like controversy.. I'm type 1 diabetic and tell my doctor I'm doing a 30 day water only fast... The first one I told said nobody should fast.. Fired her.. My current one admitted they didn't get any training on fasting or diet.. But to carry on.. 😂
@@jorgecarrejo7562I had a rheumatologist tell me that diet had nothing to do with autoimmune disease, and to stop consulting Dr. google (while doing a typing motion).
I left and called them. Told them I wasn't paying for a 15 minute practice in condescension, so they don't need to waste any time deciding to send it to collections or drop it.
Long story short, through diet and exercise, I'm off all meds and doing great!
@@jorgecarrejo7562 I'd fire her as well. She sounds like a sheep.
Just because we USED to do that doesn’t mean we SHOULD do it. Our environments were so very different thousands of years ago. And the cravings that carbohydrates stimulate for me are absolutely my demons!
The only food left from 10s of thousands of years ago are animal meats. Everything else we made. Apples in their current form, sweeter berries, strawberries and bananas are hybrids....
@@makaisenki
correct...10K years ago fruits as we know it today DID NOT EXIST. Try eating a "crab-apple"... you will throw up. Real wild strawberries are about 3mm in diameter. After 12 hours of foraging, you still do not have enough calories to call it a meal. Actually wheat did not exist 10K years ago...
All these skinny jogs advocating plant based diets should spend 4 weeks in the forest, only eating plants... good luck... they will be starve to death.
Even nuts are often poisonous. Beech nuts for instance contain cyanide...
I think to do it like 15k years ago, you would only eat fatty meat, but if you passed by a handful of very small, very dour, very fibrous berries in season(!), you would eat a half a handful. Maybe. As said above, everything didn't exist yet.
@@makaisenkiI'm pretty sure we also had bees to make honey thousands of years ago...
They weren't processed the way they are now. If you're eating raw unfiltered honey, that's great. Cool you're eating an ancient treat. I hesitate to call it a food. I can put it on meat, and cook the meat, I can add it to other things, but I really REALLY advise against eating a bowl of honey. No problem with a bowl of meat or beans or both.
Most spices are probably about the same as they were. I draw a distinction between food and things you add to food. I also wouldn't recommend eating a bowl of Olive Oil or coconut oil if that helps.
Also they didn't have access to honey all year round unless they did a ton of gathering summer/fall and stored it. So there's a huge difference between fattening up for winter, and fattening up for diabetes. One saves your life, the other does not.
Ok, so if he is getting people to start eating carbs again, then putting them back into keto camp because they will start to gain, he is building his business through outright lies. Interesting business plan.

The idea I think is to avoid plateaus.
He is just wrong whether he is doing it on purpose or not

Bottom line for me, I'm not following many, just Dr. Westman on a regular basis. I listen to people who have recipes, sometimes Dr. Barry, Dr. Chaffee, but these people who are on RUclips and claim they are experts make my head spin!

Dr. Berry talking about extra fat made me totally sick. 🤢 Also anybody that says to get down to one or two meals a day doesn’t work for me. I think many keto/carnivor influencers are trying too hard to come up their own new practices to differentiate themselves
I watched some of his stuff when I was starting in carnivore after twenty years of a=varying success and failure on low carb. I stopped paying any attention when I decided that he was another one of those people who felt they had to overly complicate a fairly simple system in order to find fame and fortune. To me he is just a high pressure con man.
A "keto flex" day sounds a lot like a cheat day. Ever since I went carnivore I have never desired to cheat. I remember the binges even mere fruit could cause me and I'd rather not do that. I'd rather use fasting and exercise to break my plateaus.
I don’t even exercise lol
Just IF n some fat fasts
My cortisol/adrenal dysfunction is too bad for stress. I would lift but no wgts here n no money for a gym n no time to drive (gone 10-11 hrs for work)

Tastes better than any candy or sweet potatoes could
Good gravy--could he make it any more complicated? Yes there are different ways to do things but.............As a carb addict too, even "good" carbs at that level over time would send me reeling.
I went on vacation, ate carbs regularly for 2 weeks, now struggling to get back to low carb.
My experience as well. In fact I was carnivorous for 3 years and I broke my wrist and had a surgery and meat just didn't sit right on my stomach for a few days. That was 6 months ago and I still haven't rained in my sugar addiction.
The problem is that the body will choose its preferred foods. Animal nutrition will always be first no matter what. Sounds like someone who needs to have carbs around still. How do you moderate that if you come from a addictive lifestyle with sugar/carbs?
I can’t moderate. Abstinence only. Even sweet tastes without calories result in cravings for me.
My dad would call him a slick willie
His whole evidence is "trust me bro"? 😂😂😂
Thankyou Dr Eric, your approach to keto is very reasonable and logical.
For me, regular exercise and keeping carbs between around zero to 50 grams, depending on how I feel, how hungry I am on a given day works well.
Carb wise, that will be berries, green veggies and mushrooms because I like them, I don’t over think it.
I also tend to eat twice per day but occasionally once again, if hungry, I’ll eat more but this will predominantly be fat and protein.
For a (very) occasional treat I make my own icecream and dark chocolate with Allulose and also burnt basque cheesecake, again with Allulose.
We have lots of chickens so eggs on the menu daily.
Supplement wise I take liver tablets, (in place of a multi) vitamin C and magnesium taurate. Don’t feel I need anything else.
I just keep it simple, avoiding the highly technical approach so many books/influencers teach.
If I have the very rare day where we enjoy a pasta or rice dish I don’t stress it at all, just enjoy and back to keto the next meal.
As a result I have lost 20 kgs in 5 months and feeling great.
The above works for me anyway.
I will not listen to that kind of influencer ! I will only listen to a few like Dr Eric Westman , Dr Kenneth Berry and Dr Sten Ekberg and continue to adhere to a Keto diet !
I'm staying with ketovore, it helps me period. health so much better.
You are so courteous, Dr. Westman! Chapeau bas for you.
Getting out of ketosiscan happen overnight, but going back into ketosis won't happen quickly....imho.
This sounds like more Keto schtick. To sell more editions of books, you have to have a "new" schtick it seems. I've been in this business for over two years (24/7 learning about it), and I'm unimpressed with the idea for my customers who are metabolically suffering.
I agree with you, Doc. It might be totally benign, but too many rites screw up a perfectly good religion. K. I. S. S. is the name of the game.

Addiction has ruined my life. I have been doing a version of "keto flex" because I was following the experts and trying to eat my vegetables and be healthy. I'm on day 21 of carnivore and am starting to feel much better(no cravings). Could 50 years of yoyo dieting be over? Can vegetables cause cravings?
Yup! The longer you're on keto, the more likely to die. I mean, if you're 104, you're more likely to die than someone who is 74 😉🤣
Hello from Austria, I really enjoy watching your videos. You helped me a lot to clear my doubts about a ketogenic diet.
I've had significant high blood pressure since I was 15 (now 36) even though I was young, athletic and slim at the time. No doctor helped me to find out the cause. Instead I have 3 different blood pressure medications. But I think just because it runs in the family doesn't mean it can't be fixed if you're willing to adapt.
I would love to get to zero body fat. Then I'd worry about fading away. 😂
You want superficial subcutaneous fat. It's the good fat. Humans are fatty by design. You just don't want visceral fat, fatty liver, and too much deep subcutaneous fat.
The complication gives the appearance of knowledge and guidance. It’s all marketing:) so many people think simple can’t be true.
I do not want to lose weight. I am lean, BMI 18.5 I eat keto and do IF (since 1 1/2 year) for health. It has reversed my fibromyalgia. I have enough subcutanious fat to play tennis fasted or go for long bike rides fasted. I do not waste away, have always been lean. I eat a lot of healthy fat. I still am a carb addict and sometimes fall of the wagon. Back on the next day by fasting longer and do sports. Slow metabolism is good for longevity! Look at turtles.
I have "winnowed doctors" for years, and you're a champ! 😅 Also, you're looking younger. It's working.
The Doc 👍
I don't understand his point about eating carbs to convince your body that you are not starving. Couldn't you just, I dunno... this is a shot in the dark... eat more meat and fat and accomplish the same thing? It is really funny how this is not actually addressed in his video.
Generally, if you really were starving, you'd feel really hungry and then eat more to satisfy this hunger. This does happen when you lose a lot of weight. Don't fight it - just eat more. But that doesn't mean you need to eat carbs. That's not the right conclusion at all. He reached a really bizarre conclusion.
It just seems like he's click baiting and trying to sell his book. Not buying any of it.
Eat more fat honestly, if ur hungry still
Enough meat might start gluconeogenesis
Eat good amt of meat ofc
But don’t get crazy
Eat eggs too!
I use some cheese even
@@YeshuaKingMessiah It depends on the person, but there are many, many, many people that don't get kicked out of ketosis consuming meat. This is well documented. It's also unlimited on Dr. Westman's program while the cheeses and fats are not. At the end of the day, there is no actual study that shows gluconeogenesis is a problem on keto. Not one. I suspect people are taking old paradigm medical thinking from high carb diets and are fearmongering people into eating less meat, but that's just me. Look at the carnivore dieters - they probably eat 150g or more of protein per day and they are also in ketosis. Trust the evidence around you and not the fearmongers or influencers.
@@KAT-dg6el I don't need to check. I've checked my ketones with high proteins. I am always in medium to semi-high ketosis every day. I genuinely do not believe in gluconeogenesis being an issue.
If you need to increase your protein on a special flex day to activate mTOR, you've eating not enough protein on all the other days.
Ive met alot of people who have snuck in a cheat day with drugs...what do you think happened.
Good point!
I'm in a low ketosis (around 0.9 mostly) and not trying to lose fat (doing it for healing). I eat all the fat my body wants. Why would my body reduce my metabolic rate when there is more than enough fuel? In fact, based on what science I've read, body will actually start burning more fuel and even waste energy (uncoupling).
Book sellers often confuse marketing with science, sometimes deliberately...to sell more books
Being on carnivore, I guess I may die anytime because I am probably in ketosis 24/7 .
They could create a drinking game based on how many times Ben says the name of his book. 🥃
Played it and I’m already drunk after only 10 minutes 🥴
BMC Medicine 2021 "Meat consumption and risk of 25 common conditions: outcome-wide analyses in 475,000 men and women in the UK Biobank study"
With respect to Dr. Westman, the guy has a point on hypothyroidism. Here are some of the effects/symptoms of hypothyroidism: hyperchlorhydria: low stomach acid, potentially low production of bile, and down regulated liver function. These all impair your lipid metabolism, which is hugely important especially if you're on a high fat diet, which many variants of ketogenic diets are. In the absence of insulin, with a low thyroid, you are not going to be easily able to lay down fat as storage, and the receptors in the liver which process lipids can also be affected, so you end up in a peculiar situation like mine; rock bottom hba1c and fasting insulin, but triglycerides of 330, total cholesterol 650. I haven't eaten carbs in over a year, but my lipid panel is pretty terrifying. My body just can't process lipids effectively, and I think that problem isn't discussed enough, given how many people have Hashimoto's or other thyroid issues.
But isnt going in and out of ketosis, like telling a alcoholic or drug addict, its ok to have a beer, then get sober again? The only way Im in control of my appetite, is to do carnivore. Even the lazy part of keto, had me making excuses to eat keto ice cream ect..Thank you for using your expertise at Duke, to set some of this misinformation straight. Im going crazy watching all these other youtubers.
4 REASONS KETO IS BAD LONG TERM
I give you ONE good reason why NOT doing KETO is even worse, and it beats your 4 reasons.
KETO or Carnivore is the ONE and ONLY way, to undo the damage of insulin resistance. In fact the positive effects of KETO are SO OVERWHELMING even after only 1 week, a "fatty" like myself must be stupid not to do it.
Once you decide, that you will completely change your diet and not eat sugar and carbs again... only 2 days later (after eating fat and protein only) your blood pressure will become normal.
I could not believe my eyes... no more Amlodipin and my BP is 120/80. About a week later your BG will have dropped by 50 points... no amount of Metformin can do that. Then a month later you dropped 20lbs of body weight... sure, it is mostly water, but keep at it.
The only reason NOT to do KETO is when you have a death wish... keep eating the junk food...
All these jogs misunderstand, a "fatty" like myself cannot run a marathon every day to reverse insulin resistance.
Until about 10 weeks ago I was convinced, that reversing insulin resistance is not really possible unless you are some sort of super-athlete (and they do not have type 2 diabetes).
My doctor for years told me, that there is nothing I can do... "Your type 2 diabetes is well controlled"... he told me, "just keep taking your meds and eat normally"
This is of course total bullshit, reversing type 2 diabetes is EASY... anybody can do it... even when you cannot walk a single flight of stairs anymore.
Just don't eat sugar and carbs... but you can eat all the meat, fish, eggs and dairy you want.
A little piece I figured out the hard way:
When you are in ketosis, DO NOT even eat the smallest amount of sugar, because even a tiny amount will make you very hungry. When you eat a fat rich diet only, even a can of sardines (200kcal)
will fill you up. It is virtually impossible to eat 2000kcal of fat, but it is very easy to eat 2000kcal of carbs.
2000kcal is just two sticks of butter. Easily done in a day. :-)
@@wocket42 actually, two sticks of butter is only 1600kcal.
I still do not think you can eat 2000kcal of fat in a single sitting... at least I cannot.
Ben is a great source of information, but I have to agree with you, Doctor Westman. As a carb/sugar addicted, binge and compulsive eating person, I should not jump out of ketosis. It has been an utter disaster whenever I think I can control it....well, I have yo-yoed up and down hundreds of pounds for years. I think it is better for me to stay in a ketogenic lifestyle.
This is like telling an alcoholic it’s okay to drink every now and then.
What about the Inuit who don’t see any carbs for months and still manage to survive ketosis
I love videos like these.
Im still waiting for all the negative side effects to kick in from keto / carnivore life style mixed with TRF.
Until i have these negative side effects i see no reason to stop doing what im doing because im 40 yo and i feel better than i did in my 20s.
I’m sure glad I don’t listen too these people. Thank you Doctor Westman ! Great video ❤
I think what the keto cycling guy is overlooking is when one eats their meal for the day the large amount of protein will temporarily pull one out of ketosis.
Regardless of ketosis, it will trigger an insulin "spike", which is all you should need. Ketosis I think is a separate topic that he mixes in, but shouldn't.
This dude makes no sense at all. I'm a completely fat-adapted (80/20) carnivore who weighs 140 lbs and am 9.8% bf. That means I have 14 lbs of bf to burn. I run 100 miles a week, plus kettlebells, battleropes, slamballs. According to him, I will eventually run out of fat. Sorry to tell you, Doctor Professor Azadi, this is not going to happen. Argument debunked.
Battleropes make no sense at all dude lol. Dumbest shit ever. Same with slam balls. Learn how to train and maybe you’d weight more than 140 fn lbs
The thing is I am a food addict and fasting is something that starts over eating. I was carnivore but couldn't lose weight, because fasting was almost impossible for me to do. I have gone back to keto to be sain and to start loosing. The stress alone around fasting makes me hold on to weight. Why ???
U needed to be carni longer
U needed to be highfat carni too
How long were u carni? More than 6 mos? Healing takes a LONG time, even on carni. Most women are in dire need of healing.
Also, don't discount the impact of STRESS on weight. You might want to check out a few interviews with Dr. Elizabeth Bright (the ones with Nutrition with Judy and Sarah Kleiner Wellness are great). She's more on the carnivore side for her patients but all about healing and reducing stress with a high-fat, carnivore diet, without fasting. All the best on your healing journey!
It makes sense though... to go strict keto with an eating window of say 4 hrs for several days, then lowering fat and eating some carbs for say 2 day without IF but keeping calories low, then a full 24 hr fast leading back to the strict keto with 4 hr eating window and repeat - just to keep your body guessing.
The best person to follow on Keto who is not a doctor ( for me ) is Casey Durango 😊
Went low carb then keto around 5 years ago..no problem giving the carbs didn't miss them at all after a month or so .....wish I could give up drinking rum like that.🤪 But maybe doing keto for fun instead of doing it for function changes how you look at it.
Lol
How can one day be so beneficial ?
If it is too simple, how can you sell a book about it?
Thanks again Dr Westman...anyone that has "Kamp" on their page or their picture on a product is just into it for the money.
Hi Doc. Have you read or have an opinion on Eating for your blood type by Dr. D'Adamo? Thx
Not a good idea to do that today. There is a honey comb on every street corner. This “honey” is also ultra processed with seed oils and added sugars. Made to be more addicting that crack.
The only way I could see someone withering away to nothing is if they're a Type 1 diabetic and don't produce insulin.
What is your opinion on Dr. Ian Smith’s teaching on met flex diet?
Meta who ?
You are not getting less food on a keto diet you are getting more nutrition
Does he site any research paper?
on the other hand... people loose a lot of weight on keto meaning they do not get "enough" and use their own, but are they eating more after they have reached their ideal weight?
First water fasting then the 7th day seems to be very much calorie restricted. I thought he was worried about slowing metabolism down because the body senses a famin. Surly fasting and then not eating to satiety is doing that?
Straight out of PUBMED-
Adverse Effects
The ketogenic diet's short-term effects (up to 2 years) are well-reported and established. However, the long-term health implications are unknown due to limited literature.[13][14][15]
The ketogenic diet may present some common and generally mild short-term adverse effects, known as the "keto flu." These symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, reduced exercise tolerance, and constipation (but your temporarily sick?) These symptoms resolve in a few days to weeks. Ensuring adequate fluid and electrolyte intake can help counter some of these symptoms. Long-term adverse effects include hepatic steatosis, hypoproteinemia, hypocitraturia, hypercalciuria, kidney stones, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies.[16][5][16]
Keto diets are very restrictive and lead to inadequate intake of essential vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.[4]
High-fat, low-fiber diets cause digestive problems, such as constipation, diarrhea, and bloating.
Kidney stones: A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet increases the risk of developing kidney stones.
A ketogenic diet can increases the risk of heart disease due to its high saturated fat content and lack of fiber.[4]
Rapid weight loss on a ketogenic diet causes muscle loss, negatively impacting athletic performance.
The effects of low-carbohydrate diets on brain metabolism causes cognitive decline.
It seems he's got a hypothesis that being in ketosis too long ends up causing the same reaction as in starvation (between about 9:00 and 10:00). But it doesn't take long to see the fallacy: we continue to eat in ketosis, our appetite tends to go down, satiety comes easily, and we've plenty of fuel from our food. When we starve, by definition there's no fuel from our food, and before we run out of body fat we are going to be ravenously hungry - the exact opposite of the satiety when eating in keto.
His philosophy is the same as telling a recovering alcoholic to have a couple of beers one day a week. Or telling an ex smoker it's OK to have an occasional smoke.
Im not convinced yet either 😂
How do people stay on Keto for years then?
They don't. It's impossible to keep burning stored fat, which is the definition of keto. Even Dr Westman won't be in keto all the time. He will be using the carbohydrates and fats he consumes, not stored fats. People can stay on low carb for years, not keto (being in ketosis).
The longer I listen to him the More I'm convinced that most of his clients Must Be anorexic or something because if you follow a healthy pg 4 plan you are not going to end up undernourished and underweight like he is warning about.
The guy in the blue shirt is trying to scare people, it is silly. In case you did not know --> your body is a lot more intelligent than you are. Your body will adjust and do whatever it thinks is best to adapt to whatever you are eating. Do not worry about being in ketosis for too long, I have never even heard that it was ever a concern. Like i said, your body will adapt.
40 yrs ago, the flex may have worked for me. Far better I'm sure than the high carb 10%< fat I was following 🤨. These days ......way too complicated . !
Keto/ketovore.... Much more my speed now 🤗 all good.
So, if one stays in ketosis they ultimately dissappear into thin air 🙂
I'm almost gone myself..🤪
Burning body fat apparently has a rate limit. So if you only eat protein, you'll have energy issues and BMR might drop. So still eat a lot of fat, just slightly less than you are burning.
I always take any non-medical influencer’s suggestions with a grain of salt.
He very much has a “bio hacker” focus (and sales) that doesn’t apply to me as I am in the beginning months of following a ketogenic protocol. This kind of info can really complicate things unnecessarily in my opinion. I have unfollowed more than one influencer as their focus does not apply to me
Yeah.. he’s a con artist
You mentioned total carbs , that we always count total and not net carbs. I’ve just brought your Atkins book you helped write and it’s worded “net carbs” throughout the book. I know it’s an oldish book but could you clarify how to count carbs please
He know says that total carbs is the number you should pay attention. Only 20 total carbs a day. The main reason is you can see the benefits faster and more willing to continue. Remember he’s running a clinic that needs to help people immediately. You have to listen to your body. I can’t do dirty keto which is 50 carbs a day. My husband can. Do net carbs six months and then do total carbs six months see which one you felt better. I know it’s a long time but it’s worth it.
@@ruthmartinez1861 thanks for your reply, it does get a bit confusing at times when one person say one thing then another say something different. Been doing keto off and on for a while now and need to get back strict so that’s why I thought I’d try and follow the book he helped write. Gonna stick to 20 total and see how it goes
Just from experience and playing with my own diet, I realized I needed to count total carbs, not net carbs. Net carbs worked for the first few months but the. The carbs kept creeping in and I started binging my cheat foods. So I started counting total carbs and going more carnivore. I naturally found this to be true based on experience before I even heard Dr Westman say it.
So my issue is gut health. Yes, it would be nice to lose some pounds, but constant gut pain and issues is what I want fixed! I have enough past experience with carbs to know most of them cause sheer misery! I look at cake and think "hours of pain!" His ideas for helping gut health, might be the reason I try this. 21 days on Keto and so far, not any less gut issues, but other things are being resolved and that is a total win.
Do you have a gallbladder? I know my dad has gut issues and he had to transition to keto more slowly because he doesn’t have a gallbladder.
It sounds like you might have an extra issue you need to deal with while transitioning to keto. There are digestive enzymes and different supplements for digestive issues that you might want to research or ask a doctor about. Sometimes going on a broth fast or all meat diet can help gut health but without talking to a doctor that knows your health, it’s impossible to say, but don’t force yourself if you’re miserable. It’s ok to vary your keto style and try different types of keto to alleviate problems with transitions.
Basically carb cycling correct?
Thomas DeLauer talk's about this but is in his case he's super pumped and young at least compared to most who have metabolic problems.
Don't be pushy with your tummy, if u do , it will say hi & get pushy back , the fight is on , it needs more food , & more food & y u shouldn't be pushy with your tummy, I told mine were not getting fat , & we ran track & , got a bicycle, it worked people's 💝🚴♀️
Btw. I am never in ketosis raising my carbs above 20. Mostly most keep my carbs around 10. I don’t know what group of people he is talking to.
His plan is not good for me. I love sugar too much.
Could you explaine how to measure carbs, to be below 20 grams? When I eat a big bowl of green salad, half a cucumber (deseeded and peeled), a small handful of black olives, a small handfull of pecans... How many carbs do I get?
I don't know, but you are definitely not getting enough fat and protein if that is all you ate. And if you ate all the needed fat and protein before your salad, you would not want to eat that bowl if salad anymore. But maybe I misunderstood the situation.
@@wocket42 Hi! No worries. I eat keto. Lots of fatty meat, butter, eggs, cheese, sheepyogurt with mascarpone mixt in to make it fat and delicious. I also do like salad, nuts, avocado, olives. I was wondering how to measure carbs in things that do not come in a pack or box. Maybe I do not need to know. Just listen to my body how I feel. If I feel good, numbers do not matter. Haaaa, I think I have found my own answer to my question.
An App like Carb Manager might be helpful if you’re figuring out carbs for the first time. Make sure to measure, maybe get a food scale, and log it into your app. They have the carbs for those foods in the app, so all you need to do is measure quantity.
Sadly, Ben is selling his book Keto Flex
2 years keto, the the last 5 years carnivore, BP normal, I'm 48 look like I'm 30, weight and power lifting 4 days a week cardio 6 days a week. I have Congenital afib, haven't gone into Afib in 7 years my cardiologist can't explain it my blood work is excellent according him and he Still disagrees with me being carnivore.
Adding back tiny amounts of carefully chosen, nutrient dense carbs, seems reasonable IF it doesn't kick you out of ketosis or trigger carb bingeing. That is a very big "IF". Deliberately stopping ketosis with an indiscriminate carb load seems very risky, esp when you have to compensate with prolonged, near total fasting. "Keto Flex" is another book selling, marketing gimmick IMHO.
Great info.
What type of doctor are you?
"Being in ketosis too long is bad, that is why we stop eating ketogenic and do a 48h water fast instead". What?
Right: so after being in ketosis, we stop eating for 48 hours to lower the ketones and get out of ketosis... 🙄
So I have a question, I’ve kind of started a keto diet, but I love my vegetables and I can’t let them go
What do keto people do for fiber it’s very necessary. Thanks.
You can eat most greens you just have to research which veggies are optimal for the ketogenic lifestyle.
@@cheffatgrams so can I have yellow squash and carrots? I don’t think corn is good so I don’t eat it but I do have to eat squash and carrots I just feel as though there very good for health so hopefully I could eat those and I do eat broccoli and lots of green lettuce and green stuff. Actually I feel so we should really eat all vegetables except maybe corn
@@watchmoivies123 I made a soup when I first started that utilized bagged coleslaw, which had carrots. It was one of the reasons I succeeded in the beginning 😁 I ate till my hearts content and dropped weight super fast. realistically just like with anything in life it’s all about moderation. As for yellow squash, it’s definitely keto friendly.
Lunch every day for me is a big salad with lettuce, onion, red bell pepper, avocado, sprouts (mung, broccoli, radish, whatever I'm growing) cubed cheese, sometimes shredded wombok for extra crunch, olive oil & apple cider vinegar dressing. For dinner - either meat & eggs or broccoli & melted cheese. No need to give up vegies on low carb.
No fiber needed
I go easily
I’m carnivore lol
I guess doctor chaffey is toast?
The Keto Kamp guy is pulling this information out
of his a...thin air.
It's similar to what the animal based fruit surfer is saying.
