One of the reasons why I have a special fondness of 3K users. Not everyone who uses it knows how to make it sing, but those who can, all of them make it sound differently in a way you wouldn’t know what they used.
I always come back to this. Amazing beat tape man straight inspirational. I'm trying to make music myself right now I'm trash but this shit straight motivates big ups to you for this.
hey man this is genuinely really fucking beautiful. Track 2 like brought me a real deep feeling of bliss I've been waiting for for a long time now. Really uplifting and nostalgic. Please keep going, and don't be afraid to send these to big rappers and shoot your shot. Really good shit dude. I also just saw this was uploaded 10 years ago. Doesn't change what I was typing. I hope you haven't given up man.
I love this album from the first time I heard it. And if there's one thing I'd love to know after several years of listening to it, it's how the workflow was when using the different samplers and the Microkorg. Bass lines are the best by far. Greetings from Argentina!
Thanks a lot! And sorry for the late respons - the workflow isnt much to be said about to be honest. I sampled records, chopped them up, put some drums on it and then i used 16-levels (MPC thing where the sample gets spread over 16 pitches) and then played some basslines. The original bass sample was a lowpassed bass guitar. Once i had that i tried to get a variation going + some more layers to keep it interesting. As for the microkorg i sold that shortly after, i mainly used it SFX but I rarely found use for it to be honest. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions, and thanks for listening!
When I first saw this guy's Soundcloud profile and it said he's got 500 followers I was like WTF, ppl are sleepin on this dude big time. Real flavor yo, I hope you're freaking famous AND rich by now homie :) Mad props from Hungary
+Kiss Benedek haha im as rich as im famous .. not at all! however Im dropping my first release on wax this spring (12/2-16) so peep for that! dropping a new beat tape tomorrow or the day after so thats a christmas treat for the people. Thanks for the love, its comments like these that give you that extra boost!
Mr America I actually have no idea how the sales are going since its being released by a label so its too early to know. They pressed up 250 copies of the vinyl and 200ish CDs i think.
00:57 this feel like that DPG groove... ungh... yeah... like that... rock wit it... uh-hunh.. hella tight! 03:47 what... you trying to make me plug up my sh1t man. You rollin like that? I'm bout to turn on GigaSampler dude.
+Be Franky Thanks! have you listened to all the tapes? if you have you can go to my soundcloud and check some remixes out + im dropping a Vinyl release on cold busted the 12th of feb (this month) that you'll probably enjoy. also got 2 more beat tapes soon to be released.
haha yeah before i used it in that beat i wondered who even used that preset. I sold the microkorg shortly after this tho cus to me it has a lil too "unique" vibe in the sound, people can spot the sounds from a mile away. However i sometimes miss some of those unique sound effects presets
Yeah! You're absolutely correct. I've noticed its use in like a country song while at work, Kid Cudi using the vocoder, and in Death Grips. It really does stand out. The MicroKorg is the first synth that I've ever owned and it's taught me so much, so I don't think I could ever part with it, just gotta change up the presets a bit and you can easily get some gnarly sounds though.
Any way I could grab a couple beats from here and make a non-profit rap tape with them? I want to lay some verses over these precious gems. You executed this to the fullest omg
Not really to be honest, its just a beat tape to showcase beats that rappers can do, be sure to peep the newer shit aswell (i understand this is a late respons), either way thanks!
well i do everything, some things i quantize with time shift, some things i step Edit and some things are non-quantize, after all theres only 96 spots in every count you can end up on. Hope that makes sense. And thanks a lot!

Hi Mac Dusty, love all you tapes. Keep making these gems please. Do you use the sp303 effects before or after sequencing on the mpc ? Would like to know that. Thank you
Hi! Thanks a lot man, im actually in the finishing process of a instrumental album so keep an eye out for that. Regarding the sp303 i use it before the MPC meaning i sample into it, mess around a lil with the FXs and stuff and then resample into the MPC.

well i traded gear for mine but the grey ones (not Limited Edition) went for like 1k back then, which was like 2013 or so, which i think they still do, some dealers overdo it but with some luck and waiting game (i waited quite a while) you should be able to get one for not much more than that. good luck!

Grateful for that comment, hadnt heard this tape in quite some time. Glad you enjoyed it

Great use of that sound effect from the MicroKorg in the first track. That program always annoys me, but you used it well.
haha yeah before i used it in that beat i wondered who even used that preset. I sold the microkorg shortly after this tho cus to me it has a lil too "unique" vibe in the sound, people can spot the sounds from a mile away. However i sometimes miss some of those unique sound effects presets

Reminds me of Grap Luva because of gritty SP1200 sound and overall atmosphere.
Lovely tunes ♡
Glad you like it!

i peeped that dj shadow bit from the intro... thats frm endtroducing right?
The beat is from endtroducing but the interview itself with the beat in the background is from a documentary, scratch i believe, not sure tho!
thats some heavy shit i think every good musician feels from time to time then you get back to chasing inspiration.
yes, "Endtroducing" a damn classsssic.

+Mac Dusty word.. yea I just started makin beats.. gotta mpc2000 nd a sp404.. im super limited haha fuk it i like that grittiness
Fuck off super limited. I would kill to have even just the sp404. Smh privileged people acting like they have nothing.

+Sam Howard "privilaged" ffs, lazy people acting like life is so hard

Link as in download? No unfortunately not considering these are intended to be bought. You can listen to it on soundcloud tho!
Mycket bra!

Is track one the same sample as jay rock's money trees deuce?
Tyler Flood I hadnt heard that track before but no i dont tihnk so, after a listen im quite sure that track is a synth with a vocal patch.
All the MPC3000s I've seen are like $2,000. How much did you pay for yours? Dope tape BTW.
well i traded gear for mine but the grey ones (not Limited Edition) went for like 1k back then, which was like 2013 or so, which i think they still do, some dealers overdo it but with some luck and waiting game (i waited quite a while) you should be able to get one for not much more than that. good luck!
