- Apple's high price, high spec Vision Pro headset went on sale in February in the United States.
After years of rumours during development, the company revealed the device in June 2023.
It is the first major new product to be released by the firm since the Apple Watch launched in 2015.
The BBC's technology editor Zoe Kleinman was one of the first people in the world to try out the headset.

Perhaps Apple could explain why they are ripping off UK customers by charging the same price for this in £'s as they charge in $ in the US? Do exchange rates not apply in Apple's universe, or are they shipping them over to the UK in golden barges, hence the higher UK cost? Maybe they need to make up the extra money to pay for all those lawyers that help them with the tax evasion they are so fond of?
I believe the US price excludes VAT, where as in the UK VAT is inclusive in he advertised price

Don't they make you sick though. Obviously tech has changed, but they ( first generations VR sets) needed to run 1680 resolution on each eye, at 70 fps or you got motion sickness ,as it stalled
The computer in these is insanely powerful I think.
They are available to try at Apple Store, I have a Quest Pro and have had the very first Oculus back then so I'll surely go try it in a store ;)

I keep wondering about this. That industry has been at the forefront of and helped develop basically every new medium, but I'm not seeing anything about it in VR? How long until I can synch up the audiovisual input in my helmet with a sex toy, for example? That seems like it should be possible with current tech.

It’s apparently quite heavy based on those who bought it in the US/Canada. So wearing it for 2 plus hours isn’t recommended, not to mention the price tag.
they say it's not that heavy using the other strap. The problem is the pressing to your face when tightening the vision pro

In case any of you are wondering, yes, you can get a PS6, PS7, PS8 AND PS9 when they release, maybe even a PS10. at this price. Literally no one except entitled rich idiots would buy this.

Having a wearable would be so much better than a desktop monitor / laptop; you could pull up digital screens anywhere, in whatever format you like.

The Meta Quest 3 is much netter and has an established software library and does Mixed Reality and VR and has games and fitness apps and Apple's device is limted in terms of software
People are already a walking hazard when they walk down the street engrossed in something on their phones and not looking where they are going. I hate to see what happens if people start wearing these new toys while walking down the street.
Maybe there will be some new law introduced similar to Americas Jay walking laws.
Am I going to spend £3.5k on this when I can get a quest 3 for a fraction of the price that can almost do most things just as good and more besides . I mean it doesn’t even look that advanced but just like an cheap plasticky pair of goggles with a cheap strap attached to it which I can imagine getting dirty quit quickly . No I’ll buy a quest 3 and with leftover I can buy decent used 2nd hand car with the money lol

meta quest, not crisp, causes nausea, hands are creepy in meta, kids game only, not supported by most developers, poor resolution and poor latency

These VR headsets are little more than novelties, they are certainly not the future. The Apple Vision Pro is no different. It should be said that the company Apple is greatly overvalued and will most likely experience some sort of decline in the near future.

I very much look forward to immersing myself in VR eventually, but the tech is not there yet (for me). I want to be lying down and in a full-body suit. (otherwise, how will the erotic content work, for one thing? I never see anyone raving about VR p orn, so it can't be that good yet)
