Karolinka looks so adorable! I’d love to do a collab sometime soon! And you are correct a lot of artists are not that accommodating to customer requests. Some people only prefer to do loose customs where you choose the baby kit, eye color, hair color and that’s about it and then the rest is up to the artistic leisure of the artist.
Karolinka is the best of her sculpt. Such a little beauty.

Heyyy my beautiful friend ❤ I think this is a great topic. I think with some artists it’s hard NOT to duplicate because they have a specific way of painting and color mixing and all their dolls look similar. BUT if you get a custom especially a portrait with specific characteristics, and preferences that are deeply personal, it is inappropriate to copy that doll again. As an artist I wouldn’t ever.. it’s wrong and unprofessional.

Recently I have seen a particular artist creating copies of her colleagues work and I find that very shady. Literally people go there if original artist refuses to make a duplicate of their previous customs. And she happily creates these really good copies of any doll out there 😳. Like literally the dolls look almost identical. Now that’s absolute nonsense if you ask me. I would like to hear your opinion on that. Because that sounds like stealing of other artist’s vision not to mention few of those copied dolls were originally portrait doll customs requested by people in this community. 🥴🙈

What a lovely story of how she came to be! As far as duplication, I don’t care what you spend on reborn dolls, 100- thousands you should definitely get a one of a kind! Otherwise just go buy any factory doll! Your weather is similar to Colorado’s ! And yessss, I agree, no matter what price, there should be no duplicates of previously created dolls. What is the point in paying for one of a kind art if the artist will make numerous same looking dolls. We could be all just buying cheaper manufactured ones if we wanted to see the same doll all over the place. Such a good point and such a shame this escapes some people.

I agree. Especially if it is a family member or friend. Like saskia looks like my baby pictures. Even my brother thinks so. So I am going to paint her like me. I am 9 years older than my brother and I totally sat just like that with him until he was too big to sit there. She is so cute.

How gorgeous does Karolinka look in her cosy outfit, I did put Noa into a spring romper but changed her out of it today into something more weather appropriate as it is not warm here either unfortunately.
Really interesting chat about the creation of our babies, certainly something to think about for any future customs.

I find myself going out of my way to prevent my baby from being copied, it happened once where my baby was copied by multiple people and I ended up selling as it ruined the bond for me. I don’t buy open edition sculpts anymore and the LE has to be less than 500 for me these days, the smaller the better. I am also really into silicone babies now and my favorite baby is 1 of 12, thank goodness 😊. I dislike artists who are willing to recreate others dolls. It shows a lack of integrity, I view it the same as tracing someone else’s drawing, it’s stolen art.
I feel you on this ❤️. I really do. I know some people think it’s selfish or petty, but most of collectors I know feel the same way about this issue.
It def ruins the magic when you see your doll being replicated. I do want everyone to get the best doll they can get, but please have your own vision. Do not go to the same artist requesting the same doll please.
Same goes for silicones. I ventured into silicone territory because quite honestly I was tired of seeing so many of my custom special orders being copied. I spent a lot on my silicone dolls to have something unique after all these years only to see people doing it again. It sucks to be honest. And it takes away the magic for reals. I agree with you 100%.
I did the poll on my IG the other day and out of 438 votes 87% of voters said it has been done to them and they were all upset about it. So we are def not alone here with this opinion.

Yeah, an artist can absolutely repeat their work. My Bear was copied by a floozy in the UK. She even pretends that she did extensive research to find an artist and sculpt. Not that extensive research when you simply buy the same sculpt and then commission the exact same artist to paint it.
Recently my Grayson was copied as well.
Many wanted my first Levi Stellan to be repeated but his artist refused to repeat his style as it was portrait of one of my own real children.
Might I add Tasha has that Levi now and stole his name too. Names and portrait/custom dolls are sacred.
Honestly, that sucks!!! I agree, portrait dolls, special customs and also special names should be sacred. As Krista pointed out in her comment we all are paying the prices to have one of a kid doll. If we didn’t care to have something special to us, one of a kind creation, we would be buying cheap manufactured dolls instead. But here we are looking for that one special personalized doll and that doll should not be replicated. End of story.
That Bear situation was so atrocious if you ask me. And the fact that other doll has been used to aggravate and poke and gaslight is not helping whatsoever. Not even going into your portrait baby Stellan. That thing still upsets me to no end.
Call me petty but that doll had no business being exploited on Tasha’s channel. Especially not after what she has done to you and me and others. Despicable!
I have to say something about that recent Grayson copy - I wish I could show both dolls next to each other. It’s insane how identical they look. Just the fact the person went to another artist who was willing to copy the work of one of her colleagues to the “T” is inexcusable in this industry. And then for person not even to keep the doll and sell him immediately…Why was that doll even created I ask? Only to copy and then sell instantly? That doll didn’t even need to be out there since it’s not even with the original customer.
