When you first get into the hobby you buy RTR’s & start upgrading them eventually that gets boring & you start building or assembling as some say your own RC’s I just built up a Rock Pirates / Element Interceptor build staring with their Interceptor frame rails. Painted my body the normal stuff but it feels good to build your own & take it out.
Awesome video. So glad to see old school ways "coming back" I started RC crawling in early 2000s with TLT or clod buster axles, traxxas stampede/rustler/bandit 2wd with hot glue to lock diffs, custom links from all thread and brake line tubing to sleeve over it, traxxas t Maxx rod ends, stampede/rustler/bandit drive shafts cut, sleeved, glued to stretch. We MADE it all back then. Buy battery cells and bars and make our own batteries to fit in and on axles and wheel wells to transfer weight. Miss those days. Watching this video, thing I may build an old school build from scrap parts I've got laying around and a pro line 55 Chevy Truck body.... thanks for the motivation! Keep up the remarkable and kick ass work!!
Exactly what I was thinking. Remember when the HPI Wheely King came out and it was "pretty close" to being usable as a rock crawler? The axles were wide enough and the trans was decent. That was a game changer. I still have a chassis that I welded up from 3/16 rod and paneled with a 72 C10 body to make a truggy. I like that the bar for entry into the "RC crawling" scene is lower now, but it's a different hobby than 20 years ago when you HAD to make a scratch built rig to go RC Crawling.
@bluetoy4x4 and we didn't have no 3d printing and such. We were digging thru old toy boxes to cannibalize an old toy for scale parts. My old radio shack trucks often found a say after saving the bodies and tossing the 400 Double A needing rig lol. I think every guy who started rc crawling built a proline c10 rig somewhere along the lines. Lol. And the HPI wheelie king jeep body. Man, the good old days. Especially when you could start getting aluminum axle parts for the hpi w/k axles. But the ring and pinions were super soft pot metal and now harder than heck to find.
Found what I was looking for, and from the comments so did everyone else. You are doing what most of us dont know how to do. Thanks for sharing looking forward to more content for sure! 🤝
I would just like to say thank you for sharing and enlightening us with that knowledge on building. I'm a grown man, don't care about me. I'm just enthused by the fact that young engineer and RC car enthusiast gals and guys are going to be empowered.. because of you putting this out there. Kudos sensai
Dude ive gotta say that you should win some kind of award forthis video. Not only do you actually teach how to make this truck, you embody what this hobby should be.you are humble, knowledgeable, friendly, snd best of all you dont try to sell anything! everything in this video is awesome and appreciated.good f’n job!
Dude, this is totally sweet. Reminds me of all the information I consumed 20yrs ago, for the Mechanical Design degree I never completed. I'm glad I haven't forgotten everything and can still use it to design my own rigs. I have a similar jig drawn on my table for my overland camper trailer build. So far my mistake cuts have made some cool pieces for the rest of the trailer. I'm using a disassembled wooden dish drainer for the trailer box and aluminum channel for the frame. My budget in a good month is $100, so I'm using as much "trash" as I can
That is so sweet. That satisfaction you get from doing anything on your own is priceless and so worth it. You definitely inspired me to want and try to build my own now.
looks really good, definitely heavy, but like you said its your, that you built. one of a kind builds are sometimes the best builds. plus give me motivation to try, build one from scratch.
Great video , I may try to find the nerve to build one myself , your video is really informative and motivating , just have to learn to weld good enough , thank you for sharing this video , I think you just created a monster for me ,lol , please keep the videos coming , I'm learning a lot
I'm really glad I can help. That's what I'm setting out to do. Just keep practicing and you will get there sooner than you think!... Bring on the Monster!!
This is sick asf from the breakdown of it all to the actual building I applaud you it's also bare metal so you can choose what ever color you want the chassis to be without the extra work
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see the rest… I love building things, and now I’ll be researching some welding instructional videos after watching this so I can learn how. I’ve always wanted to! Thanks for the inspiration! 😎 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing your videos. It's refreshing to watch someone on a similar level to me and does things on a realistic budget, and for practicality rather than show👍 only just found your chanel so binge watching on a chilled Saturday morning 😎
It's super neat how you make your chassis. I don't weld, but I too piece together trucks with parts from Amazon and Aliexpress, it cost less and you end up with a more customized truck. I'm not sure why people frown upon that.
hoping for more videos on building rc like this, its educational specially for me who just want to enjoy the hobby without spending loads of cash. im also hoping for 3d printing, that would be great also hehe keep it up sir!
Just started to build, I’m an adult that needs a hobby🤦🏾♂️😂😂. Your videos are great!!! Haha & I’ve literally only have watched 2, this is the second!!! The way you’re doing it is the way I EXACTLY how I wanted to start a new hobby. As a man who’s tried a lot of things, I’ve always loved to build and mess around with constructing things from wood work to rebuilding vehicles. This is a very (with all intensive purposes) cheap way to start and be enveloped in a new hobby, again, love this & the way your teaching!! Keep putting out these videos please, they are inspiring to noobs like my self!! Maybe one day I’ll send some shots of one of my builds😉!! Take care and stay blessed brotha!! (Also the reason I had to comment, [I never, NEVER do, but I noticed the mistake of you initial measurement at the beginning, the cleat that you left that in and used it as a teaching tool (chefs kiss) golden moment, as it taught me at least, that sh*t is gonna happen, and it doesn’t matter, idk, keep that in and showing non “perfectness” (🤦🏾♂️😂) was IT for myself, thanks man!!👍🏾
Thanks for the video. Sharpie on the bench is perfect. It's the Isopropyl alcohol you're using that's the issue. I'll guess that's 70%. I use 99% "Fuel Alcohol" or isopropanol in "scientific" squeeze bottles for weld cleaning, cutting fluid, Sharpie and Dychem cleanup. It's the same just that it has less water and you can get it in quart or gallon cans. It makes a huge difference. You can still clean wounds with it. We(I) write target measurements on mills, lathes and vices to not forget numbers. Avoid Denatured or Reagent alcohols because of their additives.
I saw that wheel base mistake and I was telling you through the screen “it’s the wrong one “ lol it’s actually easy to follow and cheaper to build your own. Good stuff! A grinder and paint, makes me the welder I ain’t
Awesome build man. Much respect to the welding skills too. I never got used to the arc but did some oxy/acetylene stuff in college. "You're only limited by your imagination" they say!
nice , is this 2005 again lol. this is how I used to build my chassis only I would bend the tubing and then cut it half long ways giving you a c channel frame that is a little bit lighter and plenty strong.
What a refreshing video! Thx ! That's how I build things. If it looks ok, it usually is ok! Keep doing it your way which is Probably the normal way people do it! Sweet. You got a new subscriber!
I spotted your mistake pretty much straight away! Do I win a prize or sumfin? 😁 I'm a firm believer in the old adage of "a grinder and paint make you the welder you ain't". That's always got me theough welding up luggage racks and fairing brackets for my motorbikes.
I am trying my hand at a Land rover 110 and have no access to a welder. I am using 1/8 inch aluminium plate for the rails and 6-32 threaded rod and aluminium tubing for the cross members. You have inspired me to continue.
This is awesome! On your frames, what about doing a pie cut and bend it so you have part of it thats always connected, and weld the corners? Either way, this is awesome!
What size are the suspension links. I found a few options on Amazon. Im looking for the exact one's you used for this build. . Also the shocks, what size are they? Thr blue one's you ended up using.
I get them all off of amazon. The axles I get knock offs and I try to find the best deals for what I need for the motors. I do have to spend for the receiver because I have Spektrum controllers.
@WafflesRC-pb4nt I'm wondering about the suspension links . I found a few options on Amazon but I want the exact ones you used for this build. What size are they. Also those blus shocks. How tall are they? Thanks.
I am only 12 but you have inspired me to build a RC
Building Rc's is amazing. My dad got me into it when I was real little and I'm 41 now and I love it.
This guy is cool.
That is so awesome to hear!! Thank you very much!
Go for it ❤ you can do it! 🤘🏻
Never stop your dreams always go after you them
Uppp
I'm starting my project right now, and I was scared before your speech about "do I care?.." 😂
Best motivation I heard so far😂
Haha I'm very glad I could help get you going!!
Much appreciated. I want to build a lunch box but upgraded and bigger tires with more electronics. This video certainly helps

Well calibrated eye-crometer!
Thank you so much!!🚙👍👍cool new look, RC with great adventure, always good videos bro👍👍😃
All passion all pride no worries. Excellent attitude. 👌👍🏴
Excellent Waffles RC! Shop class 101, building frames. Very cool, thank you 😃👍
Thankyou for showing us how you build your R C 's, an inspiration for us that want learn.
Thank you very much!! I'm very glad they are giving inspiration.

Great show, and i can live with it. Thanks for sharing.
Love it! You definitely are a new favorite channel to tune into.

you can go outside with complete equipment, I like this
Cool build. Full size truck is cool too.
Much respect for the effort you put into this video. Lots of info, tight editing, and the dry humor is appreciated.
This is so cool, never thought of making my own stuff, maybe ill try it one day

To remove perm marker, Color over it with a dry erase marker then wipe away. Works really well!

I completely agree!! I did the piece together and it has been my best truck... so far!
Nice work and thank you for sharing and showing this for us newbies out here building our 1st rc truck.
Good stuff! Thank you for making a vid. I'm also not so good with "that thing" 😀. Got magnets to help to hold bits in place.
Bro, it's about the building process, this is tight because it's not that hard to do. You've shown us something that not many have thought to do
hoping for more videos on building rc like this, its educational specially for me who just want to enjoy the hobby without spending loads of cash.
im also hoping for 3d printing, that would be great also hehe keep it up sir!
Freaking awesome brotha. Can’t wait for the next video
This was an awesome RC Build.
I made one from brake line many yrs ago. Watching this scratch build I think I'm going to try this method.
That's the attitude my man.loving it.Top job.👍
Very insightful indeed. You did not have to show us but you did and I thank you.
Freaking Awsome dude!!!
Huge sub! And like!!
Ever since first started crawlers was like should just build own yours are freaking Awsome!!!!
Glad to see you another video thanks
Awesome stuff, cant wait to see the rest.
You have opened my eyes and inspired me! Planning to start with a roll cage for my 10th scale baja :)
Nice build i like how you do it. Your way 👍👍

Very cool video! Im just getting into building my own RCs and such. Thanks for all the tips and tricks!

That is very true!! And it never hurts to try.
Awesome video bro! Truly appreciate your hard work making this video…. FYI, love those JBA arms man! Got a set on my Tundra!
Thank you, this is so cool! I want to try it myself now.
A really fun and nice build! I like your philosophy and creativity! It gives inspiration to invent new things in this pleasant hobby! 👍👍😊😊
Thank you very much!! That is definitely the message I am trying to get out there.

Wow! You have inspired me! Too poor for a real hotrod build! This is going to be perfect! I bought a 10x12 shed to turn into my RC fab shop
Awesome stuff mate keep it up
Hell yeah! Letting out all the secrets to Unloading and unnecessary twisting. CaPaBlE fLeX😂😂😂😂😂
Awesome builds. Keep it going
Thank you very much!! I got a lot more planned just got to get the parts.
RUclips.. I didn’t mean exactly from scratch… lol good work brother.
DUDE awesome VIDEO!!!!

I think you definitely should!! It is very rewarding in the end.
@@WafflesRC-pb4nt thank you I will I just have to learn to weld first
this is sweet!!! i want to build my own rig now buti know im going to go so overkill. but thats ok. great video man.
One thing I have learned from building your own RC, is there is no such thing as overkill!!
That’s the best part, it’s yours. Not another one like it.
Wicked build!
I just ordered some injora portals for my on going project
Can you please add a parts list in the description? Great video on the scratch build.
waiting for next video im working on something new a lowered c10
That's awesome!! Next video is uploading so it will be up soon
So sick
awesome, wish i knew how to weld
Never to late to learn my friend
You changed the WB and your Kickdown in the front. I ve been so happy when you changed it back again.😅
AWESOME
ótimo trabalho parabéns
Nice looking tacks. Im assuming you are using shielding gas not flux core.
Amazing
Nice built may i know what is this metal tube and dimension of it ?
how does your trailer attach? looks very secure!
It is attached with a hitch and ball set from CEN Racing.
👍 top
Where did u get the hardware pack and found your channel definitely subscribing I love how u show every step
Thank you very much!!... The hardware pack is just a variety pack of M3 hardware off of Amazon.
What size are the suspension links. I found a few options on Amazon. Im looking for the exact one's you used for this build. . Also the shocks, what size are they? Thr blue one's you ended up using.
I usually go for the 324 mm wheel base links. I like the length of those for my scratch builds.
Where do you get your axles and electronics? They are blowing my budget even if I custom fab everything else.
I get them all off of amazon. The axles I get knock offs and I try to find the best deals for what I need for the motors. I do have to spend for the receiver because I have Spektrum controllers.

Seems like it'd be heavy. 🤔
Just got off the phone with Home Depot, they don’t know what an ‘Angle Finder’ is either.
next time you put a frame together try brazing
200 dollars as it sits? Wouldn’t once you got the wheels , electronics, motor , trans and body what would it be?
Make a RC plane
..Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
do you sell any of the ones you build by any chance?
At this time, I do not. I have considered building some for people in the future, but that will be down the road a bit.
How do you know?
some more weight as if it dont weight 10lbs already
Show us thy master
It Ben form shell u have rc drift car can u look at it
Tbh if you want something that is capable this is not how to do it.
I think it looks awesome my man.Keep up the great work.See you on the next one.
Great job lil brother. To hell with the haters. Keep up the good work 🧰🧑🔧
