  • I used to tip the scales at 415 pounds. Then, earlier this year, while planning a trip to Universal Studios Orlando for my family, I realized that I would not be able to fit onto most of the rides in the park. So, I decided to make some changes in my life. As of today, I've lost 94 pounds. I'm still a big guy....and I'm still working on that. But, while on my weight loss journey, I rediscovered my childhood love of amusement parks. Also, along the way, I discovered that there were many people out there just like me, that loved the parks, but were scared or embarrassed to visit because they were unsure if they would fit onto the rides. Well, lucky for you, I have done the dirty work. I have risked embarrassment and the dreaded "walk of shame" to fat guy test this ride so that you can have a better idea whether or not you can, and just as important, if you can't fit. This way you can maximize your day in the park and have a great time!
Disney World, the happiest place on Earth right. Well.......it can be, and lucky for you, Walt Disney World is VERY plus size friendly. In this video, I will test out Flight of Passage in Pandora World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom. I will also give you some tips about the ride restraints, seat fit, big people problem areas, and what I believe the weight and size limits might be.
I hope this helps. Thank you so much for watching!
Just for reference: I am 5'9" and was 321.2 lbs. at my last weigh in. I wear a 3XL-4XL shirt and 2XL (46-48) size pants/shorts.
I have shorter legs with the majority of my height in my torso. I have fairly wide/broad shoulders and carry most of my weight in my belly/love handle area.

Hello! Former Flight CM here. The test seat outside does actually have the back restraint feature! We keep it locked down to prevent kids from pinching their fingers in the mechanism, but if you ask the cast member manning the fast pass or stand by entry points they can unlock it and push it up for you! There is an indicator on the seat that they'll know how to check that should give you a clearer idea before spending the time in line! :-)

Thank you for the info! I'll pass that along when people ask me about it.... Or include that in an updated video at some point in the future.

You're my hero!!! I am 6'1" and 355. 2 visits ago I couldn't fit on FOP. It was the 1 thing I hadn't been on before and was most looking forward to riding. I nearly cried. After watching this vid, on our next trip to WDW I could get the restraints to close! It is now my favorite ride. Even if I do have to hold my breath for 4 minutes. It is so worth it. I am eternally grateful and your devoted fan. Thanks for looking out for the BIG guys.

Sorry :( Its a tough one to manage. So many different factors go into comfortably fitting on to this ride because of the unique ride seat. Its hard to plan for. Hope you can make it back and ride very soon.

I have freakishly large calves so this one worries me. At least Tron has a regular bucket seat if you don’t fit. 😅

Thank you so much for these videos! I’m planning a trip for October (hopefully things will be a little less crazy by then) and I want to make sure my dad can ride all the rides. I wasn’t planning on riding this but now we might make plans to do it!

Hey, great video. Glad I found it. I've had to do the walk of shame at six flags and cedar point.. 😞😞 My question for you is how much did you weigh on your trip to Florida, and how tall are you?

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes it takes moments like this to strengthen us and give us purpose. I went through something similar. Learn from it. Adapt. Make it a positive thing...a catalyst for change. Good luck to you. I'm rooting for you.

I have about 6 different styles and colors of Crocs that I most typically wear to theme parks. I'm a 12.

@@DorkyDude sorry, can't walk in Crocs...did you tried Nike Air Max 90? They're very comfy and cushioned. A good cushion is also good for your spine, believe me...
