It is a delightful place. I spent a couple of weeks there in the 80's. One thing that amused me was a septic pumpout business by the name of "Fred's Takeaways" with the amusing catch phrase of "Your business is My Business". I was lucky enough to be there when the Harbor hosted a tall ships race. great fun, brilliant weather.
Love your Video's and admire your fortitude 😃 I travelled to NZ when I was a Electrical Engineer with NZ Shipping in the 60's went to North and South Island, great Country & People, enjoy 😃(I know you will)
Nice to see you again, dear Jacqueline. I see your quiet walks along bushes, trails and beaches as a needed exercise after crossing so much water deserts... Nature and human nature. Quite a short time you share, but a very pleasant one, in another dimension, your individuality. I'm unconditional...
Wonderful to see you Jacqueline! Pixie is currently on the hard in Opua... antifouling painting etc. We will be here until next Thursday or Friday and then start heading down south. We plan to stop into Marsden Cove on the way down as Celestina is there. Take good care and we love your videos!!
I’m hoping to be purchasing a BCC in the next few weeks, you are one of my inspirations! I certainly hope you get back to doing videos…LOTS of them! These types of videos are so inspiring and informative, please show us more of your adventures, too!
OK, finally I've caught you up. Only been watching a short while so I binge watched them. I can't say I watched them all, but certainly the sailing videos. Would like a bit more sailing detail, such as radio comms with marinas, anchoring, mooring buoys etc. But hey great stuff and I'll look forward to more boat and sailing stuff. Great job
Thank you very much for your videos, could you please dedicate a chapter to why you chose this particular boat to go on the arduous journey with? And what does the name you chose for the boat mean?
Thanks for your questions. When I was 18 years old we also had a Grinde. And I loved sailing in it every weekend for years. My boat is a 27 foot Grinde. It is a double ender sloop build in Denmark in 1977. More information about my boat can be found on my website: sailing.loveworkx.com/grinde/. I am a couples therapist and my practice is called Loveworkx. And so I named my boat the same.
That tall gabled 2 storey home in Kororareka/Russell used to be the Police Officer's House back in the day! One of the prettiest houses in Aotearoa and right on the beach. There is a current movement to return "Russell" back to its original name Kororareka. Ask any Kiwi who Russell was and I bet they won't be able to tell you. He was probably some English knobhead from Victorian times who knew the right people to get his name on a village! The decision will be made soon by the relevant authority.

Most inspiring, words cannot express the immense and humble satisfaction and gifts gained from sailing solo across an open ocean.
So nicely said. Thank you.
I’ve got to say, you are a most beautiful human being. Love your outlook and always happy smile. Fair winds dear sailor xx
Thanks!

Nice videos! I hope you are having fun in New Zealand. Are you planning to come to Auckland?
Thanks. I am sailing to Auckland at the moment. Will go to Waiheke island with my son for Christmas
I was there last Christmas-New Year and was packed with people. You did not go to visit the top of the hill where there is a great NZ history.
No I didn't go there.

Good Day!I Always enjoy your videos. Thanks. But Do you modify already the " holder" on bow for spare foresail ? Fair winds from sailor to sailor!
Hi Sailor. I will have a turtle bag soon to hold the spare foresail there.
Is the Russel area a good place to spend a couple of months on a sailboat when it’s winter in the northern hemisphere?
Thank you. 😃
Yes it is. Very nice.
:)
😀
Pohutakava red flowers already coming out.. before all leaves?
The New Zealand Christmas tree. So beautiful.
Russel was once called the hell hole of the Pacific ( prostitution etc)
Oh dear
