Stage slap guy is doing what I feel as I listen at my desk right now! Get it stage slap guy and THANK YOU LOUIS COLE for making me feel the feels every time with your music ❤😊
This song got me through a hard time recently. I was trying to get someone, anyone, to park their car on my face, and thanks to this song it finally happened! Thanks Lou
I actually lost the only person in my life who was willing to park their car on my face so this kind of put me in a worse spot... still a banger though
yes as Jack DeJohnette replied to the question "What does jazz mean to you", JD: "Surprise". Jazz is about pushing music forward and not 251ing for life.
Louis, we were in Aural Skills / Music Theory (taught by David Fick) together at SC in the fall of 2005 with Eldar Djangirov and Sam Brawner. At one point (for a study group maybe?), you actually came to my apartment at Troy Hall and played my V-Drums. If I had known then that you were gonna become THE Louis Cole, I woulda asked for an autograph 😅. So happy for your success and to be able to listen to wacky AF monster jams like this one.
Cole gets really great musicians to play with him, including his backup singers. It’s worthwhile to search for each of his musicians and listen to what they’re doing independent of Cole.
I love the contrast in keyboard rigs - Chris Fishman has a Yamaha Grand Piano, a Sequential Rev2 Prophet and a Rhodes, while Louis has a cheap M-Audio MIDI keyboard.
Hey everybody, I'd just like you to know that this song got me through some rough patches in my life. I recently ran out of spinach dip and I had an entire baguette that I had already cut up, buttered and toasted. So I was sitting there devastated staring at this toasted bread, and I had no spinach dip.
First, I love the quick edits of laptop screens and lil gags like the "Quads activated". Second, whoever that was slapping the stage right on time, I love you man. Channeling the exact energy I'd have if I was there 😂😂
Third, Louis, you're incredible and an inspiration. I'll just say that the only merch I've bought from any band/musicians in the last decade is yours, and one from a Cory Wong concert. They were playing your stuff before the show and everyone was grooving. Never stop.
I’ve never heard Louis mention Zappa, but I’ve heard a couple of bars that were lifted from Uncle Frank. Not in a dishonest way, don’t misunderstand me. Lovingly lifted.
If we only had an award show for “jazz licks & grooves” like the oscars, the award would go to louis and the bassist on the last quarter of the video. I have never heard anything fuller, funkier and more locked. Kudos gentlemen!!
@@asymmetricbeing I'd love to talk with them to see if we could work together to make music for a futuristic animated series! Their music fits the mood so well and whenever I make artwork for it, I listen to their music lol. Also, I really have a lot of questions about what some of this music means and stuff
So funny to think that you could be the dude at 1:20 who does a cool gesture at a concert, and probably forgets about it, never knowing that hundreds of thousands of people have seen him do that cool gesture.
Finding out you're one of the clowns has led me down a rabbit hole that has me at 4 AM listening to chiquita magic for the first time. keep doing the thing, thank you
Now I put Louis Cole above everything but what about Crhis Fishman - Piano on small band and Logan Kane - Bass on Big Band. I mean everything is wonderfull but those 2 got something. Louis Cole ofc and Nate Woods drums, The Brass Section... Everyone else casue you don't play alone. So much love.
Duuuuuuuude...Nowhere to Go is rhythmically insane. How Cole's hi hat hand is basically moving as fast as the human hand could possibly move. Literal insanity.
I love the piano solos in the first one. The bass, brass section and energy in the second one are just incredible. So much drive and you all look to be having such a good time. Thanks for improving the world.
I’m going to the Denver show tonight in just a few hours then again tomorrow in Boulder with my young children for their first show !we are all too hyped to support you and Genevieve’s new album! And hopefully see Chiquita too because she keeps me fresh 😊
Both versions go so unbelievably hard!! I love Sam Wilkes but that Logan Kane fella elevated me spiritually. I dreamt about meeting LC las night and woke up to watch this again

holy shit the bass in version 2 goes so hard, hats off to Logan Kane 😳
pizdets!
He’s fucking shit up. Nasty!
It almost started crying from the sheer funk emanating from that bass solo hahaha

good catch!
5:02 also has a reference to his previous song, Doing The Things, in the horns' rhythm.

Also, RIP my former roommate Rocky Collins aka Stone Jones, Class of ‘08
Never knew Louis and Eldar crossed paths! Will definitely be keeping that fun fact in my back pocket
Imagine trying to take Aural Skills with Louis Fucking Cole demolishing the curve.
What the hell that class was stacked!
I love how this is edited like a shitpost but contains some epic musical content
Louis Cole in a nutshell

this has been a past time of mine for the last 3 years and the web of great music its connected me to is nearly unthinkable. that's a great pro tip.

I did that with Knower's "I'm the President" since they were all credited, p cool dog

It really hit me when Louis said "- - - -"
Like damn bro
Chris Fishman is soooooooo good, what a great piano solo
Drummer has a serious pocket too. We all know what Louis can do.
Yeah he matched the vibe perfectly. Not too much bebop, just the right amount for the tune.
Thanks I was looking for his name!
awesome name too
