@Charlene Warren completely agree, I always found her acting to be a bit...I don't know. Dry? There's no real performance going on its reminiscent of a read through but not a final performance. Could be the writing since I find her character isn't given much depth and the movie she had come out was kind of dumb regardless. She's very popular now though, I assume because of those cheekbones. Lisa bonet was the same way but she had more of a passion for activism and talent for public speaking.

Although I wasn’t born around the time I LOVE ADW and I watch all the reruns, but I think the image of a black SINGLE mother in college would’ve missed the mark of the message that Dr. Cosby was tryna put out there for the black culture. Also this was a time of “The Crack 80’s” so I think he was tryna pull our people away from THAT image that we’ve constantly been shown of ourselves 😉🤷🏾‍♀️

It’s was an amazing show especially in the 90’s. Lisa has so much of individuality that you couldn’t box 📦 her in. Bill Cosby was everyone American dad that most black American families strives to model. Bill and Martin seemed to do the same thing because Tisha Campbell said Martin use to control her. Maybe they thought it was realistic or at least felt it. Tbh both shows had that realistic feel nothing seemed staged to me.

His show has her as a young woman. A young black woman.
There were many many images of young black boys and girls who make life altering bad decisions and have to struggle just to make things meet.
He wanted his show to be positive to all black kids that it's possible to avoid those situations.
If he shows his young daughter being pregnant, then those young girls have that mindset of "well, it happened to them, I can make it too"
But he wanted the message to be "well, they avoided these things, maybe I can too"
