At 45:26 : Make your face shine upon your servant, save me in your mercy. Let me not be confounded, O Lord, for I have called upon you. O how great is the multitude of your sweetness, O Lord, which you have hidden for them who fear you!
Vocal music would be so beautiful, save for the singers, who always put forward their voices before music. The note before phrase. The nice tingling sensation in their bodies over the musical sense. The timbre before meaning. And so on. At the times of Buxtehude this music was performed with white voiuces, who sung melodies and made sure the words are articulated properly so you could understand them. The sad thing, so many people put so much effort in this performance... including, I am sure, the singers. Anyway, they did not deliver it.
The gold standard recording of this work
Then I am glad I found it!
I've replayed this one so often it's not even funny. The Basel group know what they are doing, and some beloved soloists in their prime.
Remember us, oh Lord!

Gold recording with very good performance
Buxtehude ❤️😍
I'm tellin' you.
I love his music so much. J.S. Bach knew he was an outstanding great composer. Why is he so much underrated today?
magnifique musique

Beautiful OVPP version. Very similar to the highly praised 2019 Ricercar Consort recording of this work.

Exquisite!
Remarquable Mr Jacobs
