Fallout 4 - Murkwater Construction Site Settlement Build Tour
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 окт 2024
- This is a settlement build tour at Murkwater Construction Site from my most recent lightly modded Fallout 4 playthrough, using only vanilla and DLC objects (with a little help from Place Everywhere) with some additional assets being spawned using console commands.
This is a small farming, fishing and trading settlement allied with the Minutemen. The settlement features a bar built on top of the existing ruined house, a marketplace next to the front gate, with homes and farm plots around the settlements wall.
There is a water pump setup in the pond in the rear of the settlement, which is overlooked by a weapons store and home, and covered work areas providing access to chem and scavenging stations.
Apart from having to constantly fight with the weather had a lot of fun building this, and the ruined house being tricky to deal with I had a lot of building here, and really pleased with how it turned out.

This one has a lot of charm to it. Cozy little community despite being situated in a dank swamp surrounded by mirelurks.
well, and its pretty close to gnn, if i remember
Thanks! No idea why people would want to settle here but thought I would try and make them as comfortable as I could 😉.
Murkwater is such an interesting challenge. I love building over the water. I haven’t built there much and usually it’s a Pack settlement after Nuka-World.
This area, other than the dead trees is not that far off from the real deal. I spent most of my childhood in Swansea, Massachusetts, which has a lot of protected wetlands. We lived in an early 19th century’s farmhouse my parents were slowly fixing up. There was all kinds of undeveloped swampy woods behind us. I remember the smell of skunk cabbage so vividly and I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t included in FO4s flora.
My aunt owns a lot of land in Swansea that she purchased from the family estate when my grandmother died. She’ll be 90 in August. Don’t get her started on “the environment people” who wouldn’t let her sell some of it to Home Depot.
I forgot to mention, Swansea is an hour (by car) Southwest of Boston. Quincy is 45 miles away and pretty much the same.
I remember driving back to Rhode Island with my daughter after a child modeling gig in Boston and getting lost in Quincy. Boston is notoriously confusing to drive in and it’s easy to miss an exit. That day had turned foggy and I spent a good 20 minutes driving around desperately looking for signs for I-95 S. This was c.1990 and there was no sat nav or mobile phones (at least not for most of us).
Murkwater was always one of ‘those’ locations that I always ended up unlocking and then promptly leaving. Although I did find it challenging really pleased with how it turned out, hope you build here went well… even if you did turn it over to raiders 😉😆
I like what you did. Definitely nailed the “off the beaten path” feel. 👍🏻
Glad you liked it, many thanks!
really love the details you put on the settlement. all the stuff looks fit with the game, it's not much but lore-friendly
Thanks! I have always found decorating to be a bit of a chore, but feel it really helps to finish off a build and give it a lived in feel.
Nice example of the Fallout aesthetic. I think it's tricky to pull it off this well.
Great to hear you liked it, thanks! 👍
Love what you did with it, I often use mods to just get rid of everything and make it pretty much a flat area but you really pulled off a good “swamp like” settlement.
With any building game I find working with the terrain rather than going with the temptation to flatten everything often helps to create more interesting builds. Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! 🙏😁
It looks excellent, fantastic work!! I'm glad you let it rain for the tour, much more atmospheric that way. Looks like it would be a very cold and wet place to live with all the holes in the scrap walls and the roofs lol.
Thanks! I was so tempted to use a clear weather mod for the tour (took a few attempts to find one that actually works here 😔), but glad I did not and really like how the rain and mist makes the place look. Plus, I felt it would be more representative of what people would see in game if they decide to try out the blueprint when its released.
Cool settlement layout for the area. Like your incorperation of all the open water space out front and within, really sells the area vibe. And as always, that decorating is impecable. I mean I work at it but you're a machine. Well done.
Glad you liked it! Took me a while to figure out what to do here, but really pleased with how it turned out. Many thanks! 🙏😁
Nice build. Murkwater is very underrated imo but then again, I love the weird little places. The more desolate the better.
Thanks! Had never been a fan of Murkwater as a location but really pleased with how the build turned out 😁.
Loving your builds, been sitting here watching them all, would be interesting to see what you did with Graygarden and the overhanging road tbh
Great to hear you have been enjoying the builds, thank you! Not got around to Graygarden yet (I thought it would win in the last build location poll, but I always seem to guess the results wrong 😅) but hope to get around to it at some point.
I must admit I doubt that I would make use of the raised highway sections at either Graygarden or Finch Farm, as I dislike the look of the massive towers that need to be built to reach them. I tend to prefer low key settlements and don’t think that type of structure suites the style I like to build.
Things of course can change and I never know what a settlement is going to look like until I start building it, so might still yet find a way to use that space when I get to building there 👍.
another successful vanilla build with lots of design smarts, I enjoyed going around and thank you for your shares and wish you a very Happy New Year 2023😊👍
Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! Sorry to have not been around for your last couple of builds, had been busy with work and trying to get this place finished (I really wanted this to be done before Christmas but that never happened 🤣).
Hope you have a great new year and looking forward to seeing what awesome creations you have in store for us 👍😁
Where to start? There’s so much going on here … I love all those rickety walkways and steps and stairs connecting the different buildings. Fantastic job on the ruined house. And it’s a great idea to shoot the final settlement tour in this weather! I always made sure to use those rare moments of sunshine but actually the rain gives this place the right feel and atmosphere.
I’m also a big fan of your living quarters. All your settlers have cozy huts and houses, it’s obvious those people don’t have much what with this being a post-apocalyptic world, but they seem to get by and take pride in what they have build. I know I said this before but if I ever had to face a world like that I would be happy living in a settlement designed by you.
Thank you! Must admit I struggled for a while coming up with what to do at certain spots here, with the ruined house almost giving me PTSD flashbacks of trying to build at Coastal Cottage 😉🤣. Still really pleased with how it turned out, and great to hear you also enjoyed it!
Thank you for being such an inspiration! This build suits Murkwater so well, another fantastic job!
Really glad you enjoyed it, many thanks! 🙏😁
Very cool settlement build i love the scrappiness of it, i also love all the little decorations to make it look truely lived in
Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! 🙏😁
Love what you did with the ruined house area what a nice little bar and also that area leading up to the entrance of the settlement. Wasn't expecting that. 👍
Thanks, great to hear you liked it! Must admit I felt a little guilty for not showing the making of the entrance in the building vids, but like to keep a few surprises for the tours 😉
Love it. Brother made Shi No Numa in Fallout, it's just missing some ferals
Many thanks, great to hear you liked it! 😁
Another great settlement, can't wait to see what's next.
Thank you! Taking a short break before the next build, but will likely run a poll when its time to start a new one 😀
Brilliant as always
Great to hear you enjoyed it, many thanks! 👍😁
Love how it looks like something you would find in the game. Can't wait to recreat this
Thanks, I aim to build settlements that will hopefully fit and blend in with the existing game world so that great to hear! Hope you enjoy building your own version 👍😁
@@FiddleflapsVids How many hours did it take to build this? It would personally take me over a year probably lol.
@@kkaya39 Not sure exactly how long I spent on this. It was built up over a period of a month and probably around 70-80 hours in total, although that does include recording the videos for the building series.
What a cute settlement! I love it! You're so creative. ;)
Really pleased to hear you liked it, many thanks! 🙏😁
Nice. What is next? Well, whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it.
Hope it is something in Far Harbor!
Thanks! No idea what’s next, will be taking my normal short break between builds and will most likely do a poll when it is time to decide 👍😁.
Mighty fine build! 👍
Glad you like it, thanks! 👍😁
Are you planning on building up all the settlements? You should definitely do the far harbor ones too. I absolutely love your build and would like to see more
That’s the plan and slowly working my way through them. I also love Far Harbor as a location and so definitely want to build there at some point 👍😁.
Looks great! Very cozy considerin' where the settlement's located!
I have some quick questions to ask:
1. Do you think you can also do night tours of these settlements to let us see them lit up at night?
2. Have you thought about doing a Q&A video / post sometime?
3. Have you thought of makin' a tutorial how to use the place anywhere mod, or a tips and tricks video for settlement building and planning?
Great to hear you liked it, thanks!
1. I have thought about showing my settlements at night but not sure on the best way of doing it. I feel just repeating the tour at night would make the videos too long, and that there would not be much interest in separate night tour videos and also be a bit redundant. It’s certainly something I’ll give a bit more though to.
2. I don’t really get that many questions so never felt the need to do a Q&A vid or post. Any questions I do get I can normally anwser in the comments.
3. I might make some tutorial videos in the future, but the building vids are sort of tutorials and show how I build using Place Everywhere.
Thanks for answerin'! I really do enjoy how much ya interact with ya audience in the comments.
As for the 3rd answer, I'm a bit curious about the keybinds for the Place Everywhere mod. I'm aware of most of them, but I don't think I know of the button for the "Extra Object Selection" mode you used in the 6th video to move the Brahmin. Thanks!
To use the Extra Object Selection mode you just press INS 😊. All the key binds for Place Everywhere are listed on its mod page, although admittedly they a little hidden right at the bottom - www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424
I think many people (myself included for a long time) just use the mod to get around the building restrictions without using any of its other features. I went looking for a mod to disable the workshop timeout and was shocked when I found out the mod I had been using for years could already do it! 😳🤣
I just so admire your builds. I look at mine and just want to nuke them. I don’t use mods just the pillar and wire glitches. I love the look of how you use the metal roof with the tall square scaffolding. But for me to do it I need to try to pillar glitch the roof on the scaffolding, just never look right.
Thank you! I would truly be lost without Place Everywhere but do admire people that have the patience and ability to build awesome things using glitches and vanilla mechanics.
Sadly don’t know a good method of placing those scaffolding pieces without a mod. Before I found a method of snapping them into place I found it hard to place them freehand and looking right even with Place Everywhere, so can only imagine how much harder it must be trying to pillar glitch them into place 😔.
great tour this was awesome smashing the like
Great to hear you enjoyed it, many thanks! 🙏😁
Beautiful job. But i hate that milelurk queen spawning in this settlement
Thanks! After my first playthrough I never really had a problem with the Mirelurk Queen as I knew she was there. I tend to be a high level when unlocking this settlement and so a sneak attack combined with a few banked critical shots seems to take care of the problem 😉.
I know some people have issues with the queen respawning but thankfully have never encountered that bug, although I suspect the No Settlement Attacks mod probably has something to do with that 🤣.
Nice. 👍
Thanks 👍😁
Tank you for the vidéos sorry my English is very bad beacause IAM french
Great to hear you are enjoying them, many thanks! 🙏😁
I just build a 6 story tower there, with each level being diff stuff, like shops , beds etc
Sounds cool! Can imagine the tower rising out of the mist as you approach the settlement looking very impressive! 😁👍
Are you building in another settlements from DLC and the rest ?
I was using these videos like ideas for a base.
Mechanis lair must be hard to look a good building or a use for it .
I hope to eventually build at each location including the DLC’s, as I have always wanted a save file where each settlement was fully built up. Share your thoughts about The Mechanists Lair being a tricky spot to deal with… Not sure what I’ll do when I get around to there, probably either a Player Home or might try a factory type build.
@@FiddleflapsVids a Factory in a home plate would be the best option i think because if you save all food that you get there it can be easily a way to get resourses without go to each settlement to pick up all food and purified water , etc.
Also i remember that diamon city or neighboorhood isnot so far of there.
I was thinking if you are thinking to create outpost raider settlements too in each settlement and what are the best options because i noticed that vassal settlement mecaninc is broken and sometime your raider settlement dont get the food and it become annoyed.
I heard that the best would be create robots but it is cap to 50 hapinnes.
So i was thinking which settlement would be cool have like raider outpost and which like a normal settlement and which would be the best vassal settlements.
You might want to modify the first line - it mentions Covenant :) Otherwise pretty cool! DId I miss when you built that fishing hut in the middle of the swamp?
Thanks for spotting my description copy and paste error, fixed now 😳. I made the fishing hut and walkways whist decorating and was not shown in the building vids. It’s a bit of a pain to build that far outside the border as each piece has to be placed inside and then moved out, plus I like to keep a surprise or two if possible for the finished tour 😉.
@@FiddleflapsVids Yeah. My bridge goes to the road. I lay the pieces and hold Enter to select all. Twice I was too close to other structures and the screen goes crazy picking up that much :). I found this other mod that gives me a mobile workshop. You just plant that somewhere and build away :)
@@steveo1552 Ah, the dangers of group select 🤣. If I was smart I would have planned ahead but as my bridge was a late addition I had run out space to do so. I have always liked the idea of those mobile workshop mods, there’s so many little spots out in the Commonwealth that would make great player homes or should have been settlements.
@@FiddleflapsVids I agree. I have mods that turn University Point and Breakheart Banks into settlements. I use the mobile one in places like the train bridge between Oberland and Greygarden. So my provisioners can use it (I build a bypass either over or around the obstructions on the bridge).
Nicely done! We would love to feature your builds on our wastelandconstruction website if you are interested?
Glad you liked it! Thank you for the kind offer but currently not interested in being featured on the site.
Are you going to do dlc settlements?
Yes, that’s the plan at least 😉. Have already done Vault 88 and will probably be doing my first Far Harbor build after I finish my current build at Sunshine Tidings.
Hey, do you keep your Companions at the settlement or at there standard place and What about the named settlers where do you keep those?
I prefer to keep my companions at their original locations apart from Preston, as I think it makes more sense for him to be based at the Castle once retaken. I never really bother recruiting any of the named settlers apart from the Vault-Tec Rep who I like to send to Sanctury to run the general store.
how many locations are left? also, are there any settlements that you plan on rebuilding?
Including the DLC which I plan to cover there are 37 settlements, so still have 15 locations to go! There are a couple of my early builds such as The Castle and Egret Tours that I might revisit if I get all the other locations done. I never did a building series for them and feel that my building skills have improved since making them, so that could probably do a better job of them now.
@@FiddleflapsVids so you've about another year's worth of planned content to get through? nice
@@catdust Easily, at the slow rate I build probably more 😉🤣.
Nice
Thanks! 👍
Hi. will you ever do the Nuka-World Red Rocket? :)
I hope to eventually do one of these vanilla styled builds at each location including the DLC’s, so I am sure I’ll get to the Nuka World Red Rocket at some point 😁👍
@@FiddleflapsVids can’t wait to see it! Thank you for always making great settlements! 😊
Where can you find the Pharmacy sign in the workshop? It’s really neat I never noticed it before
Unfortunately it’s not normally buildable and was added using the following console command:
_placethere 00107E42_
You would also need Place Everywhere to be able to move and rescale the object as its normally much larger and intended to be used on rooftops. I just shrunk it down and then sunk it into the counter to hide the sign supports.
@@FiddleflapsVids Ah ok thanks! Unfortunately I’m on PS4, but maybe I could find a mod that might have it :)
@@madhbh I have heard the mod options are a little limited on PS4, but it is a vanilla asset so I expect there’s a good chance USO might have it 🤞.
Try bunker hill next
Not sure if I'll be doing a full Bunker Hill build. Really does not give you much to play with, and is pretty much a complete settlement as it is.
@@FiddleflapsVids maybe. Though it probably gives more wiggle room than covenant.
Yooo which settlement do u recommend as raider outposts and which one as fassels (and also which raider gang with which settlement) even if you skipped thr raider thingy which ones Would u do with What gang connected to it
Not really into making raider outposts so don’t have many suggestions. I feel Country Crossing has plenty of space to build an arena so would probably suit The Pack. Hangman’s Alley sees plenty of traffic with people and merchants travelling to and from Diamond City, and so would be ideal for the Operators with plenty of opportunities for them to get rich.
The railroad tracks running past Oberland Station is also a natural route for travellers coming in and out of Boston, so could be a good spot for The Disciples to setup their own little house of horrors and ambush weary travellers. I guess any of the farm themed locations (Abernathy, Finch or Sunshine) could also make good Raider / Slaver Outposts, with enslaved settlers forced to work the crop fields.
Will you be making a mercer safehouse settlement or do you recommend turning of your existing settlements into one?
For this playthrough I got Coastal Cottage as my Mercer Safehouse (first time that’s happened as I usually get Jamaica Plain or Croup Manor) and was going to do a Railroad themed build there with the idea of using the small cave as a safe room for synths if the settlement was attacked.
I decided against doing that due to the safehouse location being random (and I think it’s also affected by Player Level) and it would not be applicable for everyone’s game if they wanted to use the blueprint. I also felt it more suitable for the Railroad to not want to draw attention to themselves and would probably hide within an existing settlement.
So if you wanted to convert one of my builds I say go for Coastal Cottage 😊.
@@FiddleflapsVids alright thanks!!
@@FiddleflapsVids Im assuming you dont have a settlement for the feeding the troops mission Because I heard it makes you unallied with the settlement and also if you Arive at the point with the nuka world quest where you have to take settlements for the raiders, will you transfer existing settlements into raiders version (or do you just recommend to just change the flag and add some raider decorations?) and if So which nuka world raiders will you side with?
(Sorry for all the questions😅)
No probs, although I don’t think I can be of much help with either of your questions 😔. I skipped the ‘Feeding the Troops’ quests during my Brotherhood playthrough, and have not progressed very far with them in my current one as I am going with the Minutemen. Although I believe you can still build at a settlement if you were already allied with them, but it does have a big drop in happiness.
For the Nuka World Raiders I always wipe them out, and for this playthrough I used a mod to skip the ‘Home Sweet Home’ quest so I don’t have to raid any of my settlements. I might do a raider themed build when I get around to the Nuka World Red Rocket, where the few remaining survivors of each the gangs have banded together in an effort to try and retake the park.
@@FiddleflapsVids i also skip feeding the troops most of the time but if not which of your settlements Would you recommend turning into the Bos thingy
Are these only on PC?
Yes, the mod used to export the builds requires the script extender to work so PC only 😔.
@@FiddleflapsVids Damn, cause these build are F**KING amazing
lol, thanks! 🙏🤣
👍👍👍🌹❤️
Thank you! 🙏👍
Does anyone live there
There are 10 settlers living in the settlement, they can be seen at various points during the tour.
I thought my Murkwater settlement was good...
Thanks! 😉😆
is the mod blueprint available on xbox?
Unfortunately not, the mod I use to make the blueprints requires the script extender to work 😔.
