I finally got the right/recommended components for the double buns in my Tusks and they work great! I added a strip of thin double sided Scotch tape around the inner wheel ring to keep the blue foam in place. That works pretty well!
I’m now running double buns on all 5 of my rigs and can’t imagine using anything else in the future. They’re so consistent and so cheap. Also I can’t help myself from driving through every stream and puddle I see on the trail. Both the double bun and your axle-in-a-drill trick to get the water out are absolutely indispensable and low key genius.
It’s life changing I’m the land of lakes and streams and inches deep mud. Also State of the Canyon is my favorite out of the whole week (unless there’s an ICFTW). But I find I fall behind on watching everything the day of upload and binge a few at a time.
Thanks for the "If it doesn't feel right, you did it right" insight. I gave up on double buns after doing one tire. It felt super hard so I aborted the procedure. I'll have to try again.
I recommend a form of double side tape in between the pieces of foam. I use the super glue branded stuff you can get at a Dollar Tree! I learned to love it after trying it in my Louise Tires (UK Duratrax) I'm in the Eastern US but share the drive to find different things to try and such. I run the Injora reds with hair buns double sided taped to em in my Ecto which gets ran way harder than it should!
I think that "lateral wander" comes down to the wheel more than the tire. I'm a 100% cheap Amazon wheel guy, and even though two wheels might look the same, there always seems to be more tolerance than we would like, so some wander as if lost, some just stick in place. The orange wheels that have been getting passed around here just let the inserts roam free, while the orange wheels on Baseline almost never shift at all.
Love my YZZR inserts in my SCX10 Pro riding on the Gmade 1904 tires. I bought the medium density insert and decided they are too stiff for a 6lb rig. I bought the soft inserts and absolutely love them. Gonna order another set for my Capra. Love the channel and content!
Thanks for the vid! I’m going to try the double bun setup. Injora make two versions of the two stage foams. One has the really heavy rubber inner and the other is the foam like the ones you have. I’ve got the 2 stage foam version but haven’t tried them yet.
I use a modified version of you double buns on 4.75s. I don’t like the inner on the Tim Tim’s. So I used the mediums out of the aliexpress ruptures. Then sand them down to the Tim Tim inner size so I have a medium inner then use the med hair in on the outside. The yzzzz. Not happy with them.
I’d be interested in seeing the comparison in a more controlled area. Something like what exocaged RC does with his tire shootouts, all on the same rig on a concrete ramp that gradually gets more and more steep
Bamba are peanut butter puffs and they're sold all over the US. Target has Bamba specifically, but you can find other brands at any grocery store or trader joes. My kids eat the sesame street ones from the baby food isle.
Wow that combo worked so freaking well. I think they might out preform the KLR's now. We (the royal WE, and by WE I mean You ) May need to do a side by side KLR vs Jetko's.
Oh the aquarium filter looks promising! You may have to go to a pet /fish store to see what they have so you can dial in the right one. Maybe density correlates to their filter rating?
It would appear so, and the numbers are delightfully counter-intuitive-- 10 "pores per inch" is what we're looking at, while 100ppi is super dense. My brain thinks 100 holes would be more open than 10, but I don't make filters. The gentleman who sent me this piece has cleared out his local discount stores and is sending a bunch over. Apparently over there it's for the fridge, you put it under the fruits and vegetables. Who knew.
This is why I swear by the halo foams. Been running hair buns in my ryft since it’s release and holding up well. The printed foams imo are terrible in 1/10s. Too much bounce! I can use them in the front but prefer a dual stage in the rear.
the web i sent you is sold as an under layer to place in your fridge shelf to keep the vegetable fresh found it in our local equivalent of a $ store- it is cheap about $2 per sheet like that i am on the way to purchase a few more i will send your way o and more Bamba - if you look it up -just by accident this snack is the sole reason why Israel has the lowest % of peanut allergies ,moms give these to babies at early age IT came up in a serious research about allergies that covered many countries and they could not understand the low % of people with peanut allergies in Israel- then they looked into it and found that Bamba was very popular among young moms that gave their babies this saliva mouth watering snack - you do not need teeth just desolves in your mouth🤤
Who hates peanut butter!?! That's crazy. As my own guts took all manner of nuts away from me years ago, peanut butter is pretty much all I've got left. Now almond butter, I would understand. Tastes like nutty grease.
@@CrawlerCanyon I hate many foods , onions, mushrooms, peepers of all colours, olives, Tomatoes, raisins, most fruit, the list goes on, you could say I'm a fussy eater, its not da flavours its more a texture thing , was a nightmare as a kid fa my Mum lol 😜 😀
steepatude. Yep. I keep the thin double sided tape from window insulation on hand to keep my inserts in-place. when you do go insane, can I have some of your rigs?
Is the face of slick rock becoming discolored from tires or is that just a trick of the screen? It's starting to look a little different than in other videos...but maybe it's just the overcast or my slow decline into insanity.

I have some two stage that may need that done to them. Great idea.

Never having to worry about water in the tire is just the best-- and this comes from the guy in the Land That Never Rains.

That media is called reticulated polyurethane filter media you can possibly find it at your local hvac supply house. The density will be 10-15 ppi

Sunday morning knowledge tree of crawler tips for tea time.
Yried them based on earlier vkdeos. Hated them in the Tusks, moved around constantly. So put them in some Deepwoods and love them. Thanks for the tip.

Yea those look killer especially for the price, is there any way to tune them with rods or anything? Like 3BRC antifoams?
@@V8chump I haven't, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 3BRC tuning rods worked in the YZZR inserts.

Unbelievable ! I knew that as soon as I figured out a double bun that you would 1-up it.

Toothless could take some rear suspension lessons from Hardline. It's good to see different ideas.
Do a blue foam with the filter media outer and then a hair bun, like a triple stage, not sure if its over kill but it could be great 🤔
I think that stretching the bun over the filter media would just smoosh it. Now filter media OVER the bun? That might be worth investigating.

Never seen them before in my life. Regional, maybe? They're certainly not at places like Target here.
Great vid 🥰
Really interested to know what that new stuff is. I think you've got gold!
15:00 rambling about Bamba whilst Hardline is side hilling like it was flat 😎
In big overdrive, no less. Conquerors vs. KLR/M has gotta happen, I guess.

Some refrigerator thing to store vegetables on 🤔

You think that yzzr insert would fit the 2.2 rovers?
It's a 1.9 insert, so... probably not? That 3D printed inner layer doesn't stretch.
@@CrawlerCanyon oh right, duh
What type of tire inserts would you recommend for 1/24 & 1/18 scale 1.0" crawler tires?
I have ZERO experience with smaller scale, so I have no real idea. Sorry.
Thank you! So for a 4.65/4.75 tire you would use the xl buns or 4.5"?
For the double bun I use a medium, the 3".
You are the best. Whatcha think for a 4.9" trep?@CrawlerCanyon
Whatever is one size bigger than the 3". MIght have to "prune" the hairbun down a little so as not to overstuff.

o and more Bamba - if you look it up -just by accident this snack is the sole reason why Israel has the lowest % of peanut allergies ,moms give these to babies at early age

Triple Bun...interesting
Not bad, but you did kill the bag peanut puffs didn’t you?
I managed to stop at about half. So second session, the other half.
You need to create some yourself instead of telling everybody about it and sell the hell out of it because you're good at this
Any conclusion as to the halo wrap alike foam?
The reticulated polyethylene? I'm running like 8 sets? Maybe 10?
