I guess you‘re right concerning the second reason... but I believe Jadzia‘s death happened already a few years ago! If I‘m not mistaken, Insurrection is right after the finale of Deep Space 9, but that’s already 1 year after her death! This movie is set a couple of years after all of that

A lot of people hated on Nemesis, but it is one of my favorite Trek movies. The Admiral at the beginning who told Picard that he had all the east assignments, was the captain on Star Trek Voyager. And the whole story of the show was Voyager getting trapped at the other end if the galaxy and trying to get how. Kind of a joke by her saying her captaincy may have been the hardest. A good series, it actually introduced me into the Trek Universe.
Still strange thinking Shinzon is the same guy who played Bane, Eddie/Venom, and Mad Max. James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) is a huge Star Trek fan and said he auditioned for the Shinzon role.
The Cameo from Admiral Janeway ( the first female captain for a Star Trek series) was my favorite part, but I figured it wouldn't mean much if you Primate hasn't watched Star Trek: Voyager .

The most awesome thing about this movie is it shows, in a subtle way, how strong Enterprise-E was. For the entire battle, Enterprise was getting shit on by the Scimitar, losing main power, having weapons and shields targetted, but once Enterprise gained a solid target on it, it still dealt some solid damage to the Scimitar in a much shorter period of time despite being almost crippled. Remember that the Scimitar had 2 shields, so when we're told its shields were at 70%, I believe the primary shields had been breached and the secondary shields were down to 70%. That's nothing to scoff at.
Brent Spiner got his start in musical theater before making a break into television and later films. During Next Gen's television run he released an album of what would be considered Big Band and Sinatra standards called "Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back" that also featured the male TNG cast members as backup voices on one song.
If you really love Brent Spinner's singing check out his record "Old Yellow Eyes is Back". The title of this album is a parody of Frank Sinatra's comeback album called Old Blue Eyes is Back.
At the end of the day, Data spent years with his crew, and US the audience. And in all those years he strived to learn what it is to be human, and in the very end, in his sacrifice to save his friend, he was more human than he ever was. The story came full circle in one of the best AND LONGEST character arcs in film history. Perfect
@@MakotoAtava And to quote his last Captain, his friend... “He was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again.” ― Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet. Wow. I haven't watched Farpoint in forever, and I didn't realize Brent played Data with more emotion in the beginning than he did later. In fact his "Marvelous!" line here 100% makes me think of Lore.
I like how this film franchise comes full circle at the end, in a way. The first movie started off with the Enterprise leaving Drydock to save Earth. 23 years later, this movie ended with her distant successor in Drydock after saving Earth. Even the music is a direct callback. Speaking of the different ships named Enterprise seen until this point, these are: - NCC 1701: Constitution-class. Seen in the Original Series, refitted for the first movie, destroyed in the third. - NCC 1701-A: Refit Constitution-class. Introduced at the end of the fourth movie, decommissioned after the sixth. - NCC 1701-B: Modified Excelsior-class. Maiden Voyage at the start of the seventh Movie. It remains unknown what happened to her. - NCC 1701-C: Ambassador-class. Featured in an Episode of TNG called "Yesterday's Enterprise". Destroyed in Battle while defending A Klingon Colony from Romulans. - NCC 1701-D: Galaxy-class. Seen in The Next Generation. Destroyed in the seventh Movie. - NCC 1701-E: Sovereign-class. Seen in movies eight, nine and ten.
It's genuinely nice to see someone watch all these movies with an unbiased eye and just enjoy them for the stories they tell. Sure we can all nerd out on the one hand, but most people dismiss trek are boring and nerdy. It's been kinda nice to watch them for the first time again vicariously through this dude
Janeway in Voyager went even deeper into the Borg stuff. Actually, one of the best characters 7 of 9, is on Voyager! If someone knows the episodes, they should let you know so you can learn about 7 of 9. She is perhaps the most badass woman in ST.
When I went to theater to see this movie, I wasnt spoiled anything, I did not even watch the trailers. The only thing I knew was that someone would die in the movie. I was sure Riker was going to go down as a badass. So when Data pinned the transporter chip on Picard, I cried like a bitch. He's been my favorite character since day one of the original show. I probably knew and loved the character a huge part of my childhood/teenagers years and I saw him die. He died after all these years of quest trying to understand/became Human. I never understood the hate Nemesis got, it was a perfect ending to the TNG era. The characters were all veterans, all of them could die in a blast of glory. But it fell on Data, the "pure" one. At the end, he didnt make a machine choice. I think he wanted to save his friend.
bruh Janeway is a beast, she bests the Borg multiple times in Voyager, and even manages to get one (Seven of Nine) to become human again and escape the Borg collective. so of course she considers them easy lmao! you gotta check out TNG, Voyager and Deep Space Nine at some point in your free time. they're honestly all bingeable shows bro. love watching Star Trek with you because I just got into it for real myself last year. hope you react to the JJ Trek movies at some point!
when this movie came out, there used to be a game called Bridge Commander, set between the Dominion Wars and Insurrection. When Nemesis rolled out it's super HD Enterprise, the new Romulan warships, and the Scimitar, *every* modder of that game strove to get _the_ perfect 3D model.... 2004 to 2007 were some crazy years, with huge releases that pushed the game to the limit. 20:01 *including* tech like that. blind firing, torpedo spread, shuttle launching, saucer separation, cloak detection, point defense, boarding & capture, .... EVERYTHING featured in the show and the movies, we tried to get into the game. sure squeezed our brains figuring it out lol. still to this day, Star Trek Online hasn't even come close to the amount of shit we pulled off.
Finally. Next month we're entering the Reboot/Alternative Timeline Era. Can't wait. Also a young Tom Hardy as the villain in this film. Surprsing. I don't think he was as famous than as he is now.
He had a crack cocaine and alcohol issue around this time, and it definitely impacted his career. Great that he bounced back and started getting recognition.
I actually like "STAR TREK: NEMESIS" even though it is not 1 of the most popular "STAR TREK" Movies in the Franchise. I also really liked the Acting Performances in the Movie from Patrick Stewart (Picard), Brent Spiner (Data), Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Tom Hardy (Shinzon), and Ron Perlman (Reman Viceroy).
9:27 the interplay between Picard and admiral janeway doesn’t make much sense til you factor in the other series “Star Trek voyager” That admirals ship got stranded on the other side of the galaxy, even at maximum speeds…projected as roughly 70 year journey… With some shortcuts and luck and meeting some people along the way they cut it down to 7 years But they were completely apart from any form of support or stable resupply etc… Nor did they have access to repair and refuel facilities anywhere near as easily…
I feel ya man, RIP Data. Just imagine if you'd spent 7 seasons watching him. I'm surprised this one and Insurrection rate so high for you but I do agree Insurrection is underrated. For me Wrath of Khan is number 1.
Please watch Picard. It gets a lot of hate and it's not perfect, but I think you should watch to find out what happens next- After this movie and after the Romulan Star explodes in the reboot (for reference, this movie is 2379, the supernova is 2387, and the Picard series is 2399). It combines the Borg elements of First Contact, the android elements of Insurrection, and the Romulan elements of Nemesis. You will have to watch a few episodes to understand some of the plot elements- I count four: TNG: I, Borg VOY: Scorpion, part 1 (VOY is short for Voyager, a series about a Starfleet ship stranded on the other side of the galaxy. The episodes take place between First Contact and Insurrection) VOY: Scorpion, part 2 VOY: The Gift
I love this one. Hell I love them all. Even Odd be damned. No not all of them are great, but they're all fun and interesting. Not every day in the Star Trek Universe is going to be incredible. This one is a huge deal as the long standing hate between Romulans and Federation. It's nice to see that even though Shinzon started the peace talks as a way to get Picard, in the end, Picard's actions actually brokered some peaceful intentions between them.
How did a kid from a penal colony construct the secret, most powerful starship in the galaxy, and also build effective weapons from otherwise theoretical particles? Why did he want to destroy the earth?
Being released at the same time as The Two Towers is a cop out. Wrath of Khan was released the same month as E. T. Search for Spock was released in a very crowded summer with Temple of Doom, Ghostbusters and The Karate Kid. Undiscovered Country had to compete with Hook and Beauty and the Beast. All of them did well at the box office. Nemesis failed because it was bad.
I started my star trek journey with the reboots when they first came out this past winter, watched all the older ones up too the reboots I really love just the Classic old film feel too them.. nothing better than chilling out in the winter day toaking up watching an older star trek film💯💯🍻 I saw you dropped zodiac on patreon today, I gotta go give that a look in a bit!!
25:25 in the movies Data is dead. In the jar jar Abrams' comic book tie-ins data comes back in B4's body. Which most fans don't like. Data would never sacrifice his brother's life for his own life.
Data is my favorite Star Trek character. Also, Nemesis is my third favorite Star Trek film, after the most recent one, Star Trek Beyond, and my favorite, First Contact.
My personal top 3 star trek movies are Generations, search for Spock, and nemesis. Are my personal favorites. I also Nemesis opening day in 2002 and I'll be honest I cried when Data died.
Yep. Data is "Dead" he was completely destroyed and this is the final movie in this line, after this one the new timeline starts. Loved watching your reactions to these movies! Keep up the good work!
If you want some more scifi/space movies Apollo13 is very much worth a watch, 2001 A space odyssey, Enemy mine, Contact, Arrival, Annihilation, Planet of the Apes movies, Blade Runner, Stargate, The Fly, Signs...
Your perspective is so interesting RE: “Each movie is unique” because so many fans see it like pretty much every movie after ST2: Wrath of Kahn was trying to recapture that film’s mojo. This is especially true when you get to the newer JJ Abrams *Star Trek* from 2009. Thats a pretty fun movie though, esp now that you have seen them all.

I just watched this one last week. Cool! When you're done with this series, have you considered going through the James Bond movies? Patrick Stewart speaking at that dinner reminded me so much of Gregory Peck. Wow!
I feel that Seasons 1-3 were hit & miss, but I really liked S4. Lots of fan service which for a lot of people they'd normally consider it a bad thing (or too pandering or whateevr), but they did a really good job of it. Well, except for the finale.
Always liked "Enterprise" although I have to admit that the first two Seasons were, while not bad, kinda uneven. I consider most of these episodes "Star Trek Plain Fare", if that makes any sense. It picked up steam with the Season-long Story Arc in Season 3, of which I only disliked the two-parter it ended on. And Season 4 is fantastic, except its bookending episodes. The two three-part-stories are great and I wouldn't have minded if the Series had been allowed to continue in this vein.
@@MarCuseus Yeah, The show was called "Enterprise" in it's First 2 Seasons. In Season 3 though, They changed the name of the show to "Star Trek: Enterprise".
Yeah, I like "Nemesis" and consider it very underrated. It ranks below "First Contact", in my book, but higher than "Insurrection" and about tied with "Generations". But it could have been better and I think thats largely down to post-production troubles. About 30 Minutes were cut after filming was done, mostly Character Building stuff and an extended ending. Worf and Crusher had most of their scenes cut and Wesley his only one (you can still spot him at the far left during the wedding). I am conviced that this movie would be even better if they somehow could add these scenes back in, make it a more conclusive ending to this era. But its still fine the way it is and, to its credit, the Battle of the Bassen Rift features some of the best ship-to-ship combat in all of Sci-Fi, at least in my opinion. Sadly, "Nemesis" was a box-office-disappointment. That and the cancellation of the fifth Trek-Show ("Enterprise") in 2005 just about killed the franchise for several years until they went with a reboot. - Shinzon was played by Tom Hardy. He's a star today but this was actually his first bigger role. He only had small parts in "Black Hawk Down" and "Bands of Brothers" before this - The Composer was Jerry Goldsmith, and it was his final Trek-Score. He wrote the music for the first, fifth, eigth and ninth movies before this as well as the Main Theme for "Star Trek Voyager". Sadly, he passed away in 2004. His Score for "Nemesis" sounds very different, as he was leaning more into electronic sound design and rythm here than usual. - There are no families on the Enterprise-E. The Federation discontinued this practice at some point, probably because of the Dominion War (which again got a mention here) - The Admiral, Janeway, was the Main Character of "Star Trek Voyager" - As far as I know, in the Novels set after this movie, Data did eventually come back via the memories stored in B4, but this was sadly never canon. The TV-Series "Picard" (set 20 Years later) goes a quite different route. To be honest, I havent been able to warm up to either this show and the other new Trek-Show ("Discovery"). Frankly, I _dislike_ them... and I'm being nice here. But if people like them, thats totally fine. Expect something entirely different for the final three movies. I enjoy them well enough as entertainment but "Beyond" (to an extent) aside, they don't exactly feel 'Trek' to me. But do watch them and make up your own mind, as you always do. LLAP
It’s so refreshing seeing the pure joy and excitement you get from these movies. I’m kind of like you, I never met a Star Trek movie I didn’t like. I loved this one, despite it being unpopular with “The Fans.” Keep up the great work!
"That's a long drop, that boy should be dead." That is a long drop, especially considering they're five decks below the lowest deck on this ship. (Deck 29, when First Contact expressly states it has only 24)
Brent spiner has an absolutely hilarious show on RUclips. So if you ever wanted to hear data without a filter I highly recommend it. He talks bad s*** and throws shade at Jordy. Lol
You watch enough Trek movies you get to the end of Nemesis and I saw your pain there @ItsAPrimate with Data's death, brave of the writers but a real pisser for the fans.
Yeah, to me, it felt like they were trying to do Undiscovered Country type of send off, but it just didn’t land & Data’s death wasn’t really earned. Thankfully, Star Trek: Picard fixes that, imo.
"Positronic signatures are only known to emanate from androids like myself." Or you know, nebulas, pulsars, stars, planetary magnetic fields, PET scan machines, BANANAS!
This is the end of the TNG films, so it really is the end of Data. Th had hoped they would make a fifth, but this film underperformed at the box office and Star Trek on TV had been failing at this time, too, so it all just ended here. The next films are unrelated to TNG, but if you are interested in what happens afterwards, there is Star Trek: Picard, which only came out relatively recently and is (at the moment) only ten episodes long, so not a lot of content, if you're interested. Yes, there's some controversy among the fandom regarding some of the directions they choose to go, but seeing as you have often had quite a contrary view to the popular opinion, you might want to consider giving it a look. But if nothing else, watch TNG in its entirety, even if not as a reaction. Its FX are a bit dated now, but its still an amazing TV show and worthy of the watch. If you liked the movies, you'll probably love the show even more (although the first couple of seasons are a bit slow)
Nemesis had a somewhat, uh, troubled production. Rick Berman, for all his faults, apparently wanted Levar Burton to direct which would have been a good idea. Paramount had other ideas and picked Stuart Baird instead, who had no familiarity with the series and was only there for the paycheque. He went in with some confusion, for instance he thought Geordi was an alien because of his eyes, and on top of that kept referring to Levar Burton as Laverne on set despite being corrected multiple times by several people. There was general agreement among the cast that he wasn't a good choice for director. Once shooting finished, a lot ended up being cut - the few character scenes among others - as Baird wanted to focus more on the action sequences. As a result of these cuts, after the final battle, Beverly doesn't get a single line. There is nearly an hour of deleted scenes, most of which haven't and probably won't see the light of day. This was meant to be Tom Hardy's big breakout role, however it instead almost ended his career. Not only that, his relationship with his girlfriend ended, he became depressed, and started abusing drugs and considered suicide. (Fortunately, he didn't and he's much better these days. He doesn't like to talk about this film though and fair enough). Either in an act of stupidity or to just get it over and done with, the film was announced for a Christmas release alongside The Two Towers, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Die Another Day, so flopped in the cinemas - it was even beaten in takings by Maid in Manhattan.
They knew (the cast and crew) that this was going to be the last movie they did together, so an emotional ending was best with Data dying in a heroic manner. Also, the Enterprise-D was a exploring and family starship, The Enterprise-E was a battleship with no families and was used for fighting the Borg or other threats to earth.
Brent Spiner who plays Data has released album of himself singing Sinatra and Tony Bennet and some other songs called Old yellow eyes is back(referencing Data's eyes), Patrick Stewart(Picard) Lever Burton(Geordie), Michael Dorn(Worf) and Jonathan Frakes(Riker) provide backing vocals on a song on the album called its a sin to tell a lie under the name the Sunspots. The TNG cast are amazing close too each other to this day and have had none of the major personal issues that the original series cast had with each other.
really glad you enjoyed this movie as much as I did. d fun this is the end of the TNG arc. please watch the JJ films they are different and fun. I almost fell asleep watching ST Motion Picture, and I was very excited to see it as a 12yo boy
6:28 Heh...you might be surprised about that...I've seen Patrick Stewart rock a tank-top with the best of 'em. He'll take you to the gun show. Check him out in the 2010 BBC production of Macbeth (in the title role, of course).
9:18 If you've seen any of Voyager, you'd know that Janeway was given only *one* official assignment as a Starfleet Captain, and that "routine mission" resulted in her and her crew being stranded on the complete opposite end of the galaxy and a seven year journey to make it back home. This is the joke she's making about Picard getting "easy assignments."
Like someone in the comments mentioned, "PICARD" on Paramount loosely follows this. They've also made Star Trek Discovery with the actress from The Walking Dead.
I bet someone will say this. Janeway was making a joke about Picard getting all the easy assignments because in the series Voyager she and the crew were stranded in another quadrant of the galaxy. They had to do everything on their own. Her poking at him is funny since they just made it back to Earth before this film,.
I cant wait til you watch the next movie, The 2009 Star Trek Reboot. I've been waiting patiently the whole year for you to react to it. Lol . I think you'll really enjoy it.
While watching your reactions I have the strange habit to sing " It's a primate" pretending to be Bonnie Tyler singing "it's a heartache.". ❤ and I keep repeating lol
9:20 Admiral Janeway, formerly known as Captain Janeway, was the protagonist (and captain) of the Voyager, besides Deep Space 9 the second spin-off series set in the same era as The Next Generation series! The plot of this series was the Voyager got catapulted into the Delta Quadrant of the Galaxy, so thousand(s) of light years away from the Federation in unknown area to find a way home Btw, she was sarcastic when she said Picard gets all the easy tasks 😅 In the other side, compared to be lost in the Delta Quadrant, a lot of things Picard had to face were more easy 😄
Now that you have watched the movies, you really should react to Star Trek - Picard. Well...maybe cut out season 2. But the current season 3 is shaping up to be the best.
I saw this at the theatre, didn't really like it,some parts I liked.Glad you enjoyed tho, that's all that counts.Totally surprised DATA bought the farm first time watching this film.Nemesis had a high budget but bombed at the box-office,so I knew this would be the final TNG film. The Voyager actors were asked to do movies, they said-HELL NAH!!! LOL.You're doing a good bub-KEEP'EM COMING.
It is a pity that this film wasn't linked to the TNG episode *Yesterday's Enterprise* as what Trek culture said, it would explain why the Romulans created a clone of Picard before he was even known. They learn about Picard when Yar was captured by the Romulans.
Now you gotta watch Star Trek Picard, where they continue the story of Picard and Data. The newer movies are also a fun watch, they play out in a different reality, showing how Kirk, Spock and the rest got together in an alternate universe. They got some great actors to play those iconic characters.
The director of this movie knew nothing about Star Trek and it shows in pretty much every minute. They digitally lowered Worf's voice to make him sound "more alien" after the character had sounded the same for 15 years already at this point, for example. It's just disrespectful to the franchise and the fans.
I haven't seen this one in years so I can't remember if this is covered in it or not. It always seemed odd to me that they just turned b4 on and let him rome the ship after everything they went through with Lore (data's brother) in the series. Tom Hardy is really good in this for one of his first films playing shinzon. I wasn't to keen on this movie first time watching but it has grown on me. It tries a little too hard to be a bit of an action movie which isn't usually what star trek is about.
Brent Spiner (Data) decided that Data should be killed off as he was showing signs of age and seen as Androids are not supposed to get older in appearance this would be easier than trying to explain how data was getting old
I admit, seeing Data die in this movie, I broke me, and it was hard for me to watch this for years until Star Trek Picard mini series seeing Data return. It made it easier to watch Nemesis again.
Admiral Janeway was captain of Voyager. I like Star Trek Voyager in season 4 when 7 of 9 became part of the crew a female borg. They never made a movie only 7 seasons.
i was twelve when i saw this in theaters. it was a little sad because i was the only one in it watching it. god i loved this film. still watch them every now and then. cant wait for the new show to come out!
The OG TNG cast did NOT like this film, the director had never seen Star Trek, nor did he feel he needed to, and basically turned it into an action flick :/ And yes, while the space combat in this IS cool, there needs to be more of a story. As far as Picard's conversation with Admiral Janeway.... let's just say you should watch Star Trek: Voyager and you'll understand why she said that he gets the easy assignments :P While the films are good (up to this one which was mediocre, and then the "Nu Trek" of this era which is worse), the shows are where its at. TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise are excellent and you should definitely give them a watch. Lower Decks is probably the only newer Trek show that is worth watching, and to get full enjoyment out of it you should definitely watch the prior series, there are a lot of callbacks to them lol That shuttle IS moving fast, full impulse power is approx. 25% of the the speed of light, 167 million MPH. The Sovereign-class USS Enterprise-E has a somewhat altered mission profile than the prior Galaxy-class Enterprise-D, as it's more of an Assault Cruiser with deep space defense in mind. The Galaxy class was the biggest and most powerful ship of the "Golden Age" of the Federation, but when the Dominion War and other conflicts began, the Galaxy class was FAR too resource intensive and slow to build (as it was essentially an all-encompassing mission ship), so many new Galaxy spaceframes were sent out to the frontlines with barebones construction, just weapons and shields, many not having interior bulkheads constructed. The Sovereign was meant to be a scaled down version of the Galaxy, better able to participate in defensive actions and also to perform at least some of the same explorative and diplomatic missions as it's predecessor, but it was really meant to replace the aging Excelsior, Ambassador, and New Orleans classes in their respective roles. techspecs.acalltoduty.com/sovereign.html
But the Galaxy classes we saw were not barebones. Alone the USS Galaxy and the USS Venture were veteran ships. The USS Galaxy was commisioned in 2357. And at least the USS Galaxy even survived the war and was part of Battlegroup Omega in this movie.
Actually the Romulan ships in this era were all much larger than the Enterprise. The main warship in the Romulan Navy, the D'Deridex-class, was twice as large as the Enterprise. Just like the Romulans, the Remans were once Vulcans. There are no families on the Sovereign-class (the new Enterprise). The Galaxy-class (the one in the first movie) was considered a failure and the idea of having families on board was scrapped. Brent Spiner felt that he was getting too old to make a convincing Data so he decided to kill off the character. He did come back in Star Trek Enterprise where he played Arik Soong, Noonien Soong's ancestor (Data's creator).
The reason Worf is sloshed is cuz he just lost his wife and is at his former GFs wedding…. Dude all in his feels.

I saw this opening day. It opened the same time as the second Lord of the Rings movie. I was one of three people in the theater.
Oof, forgot about that... talk about poor planning on the studio's part.
I remember. I saw both same day. Ya gotta do what you gotta do. 🤷🏻♂️
Dr. Soong made all 3 of his androids (Lore, Data, & B4) look just like himself.
By the way: A possible story of how they got Picard's DNA is told in the non-canon TNG novel "Death In Winter".
While I never watch Original Star Trek but Tom Hardy who was in this and he also play Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, can’t wait to see him in Venom 2
Did he do Bane's voice, too? I've always loved the way his voice sounded in DKR, but never recognized it elsewhere.
If you really love Brent Spinner's singing check out his record "Old Yellow Eyes is Back". The title of this album is a parody of Frank Sinatra's comeback album called Old Blue Eyes is Back.
And he also has a 2nd album, Dreamland with Maude Maggart & Mark Hamill. It’s kind of a musical/audio drama/cabaret album.
At the end of the day, Data spent years with his crew, and US the audience. And in all those years he strived to learn what it is to be human, and in the very end, in his sacrifice to save his friend, he was more human than he ever was.
The story came full circle in one of the best AND LONGEST character arcs in film history.
Perfect
To quote a captain of another enterprise:
"Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most human."
@@MakotoAtava And to quote his last Captain, his friend...
“He was a man, take him for all in all, I shall not look upon his like again.” ― Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet.
Taken from the book Picard once gave Data long ago. Decades later, we find out just how much Data's death really affected Picard, in more ways than he could have ever thought possible.
13:31 He was molded by the darkness you could say.
This is what Riker was talking about when they were toasting Data together. It's from the very first episode. ruclips.net/video/RkZ4cIsCHoM/видео.html
Speaking of the different ships named Enterprise seen until this point, these are:
- NCC 1701: Constitution-class.
She is first introduced in Scorpio part 1
I really enjoyed Nemesis and at least I'm not the only person to cry when Data died
bruh Janeway is a beast, she bests the Borg multiple times in Voyager, and even manages to get one (Seven of Nine) to become human again and escape the Borg collective. so of course she considers them easy lmao! you gotta check out TNG, Voyager and Deep Space Nine at some point in your free time. they're honestly all bingeable shows bro. love watching Star Trek with you because I just got into it for real myself last year. hope you react to the JJ Trek movies at some point!
More than one... Don't forget Icheb and the other kids
Hard to believe Shinzon was Bane, in "The Dark Knight Rises," ain't it? Tom Hardy really does super prepping for all his roles.
Along with some super substances to get to the size he did for Bane.
when this movie came out, there used to be a game called Bridge Commander, set between the Dominion Wars and Insurrection.
When Nemesis rolled out it's super HD Enterprise, the new Romulan warships, and the Scimitar, *every* modder of that game strove to get _the_ perfect 3D model.... 2004 to 2007 were some crazy years, with huge releases that pushed the game to the limit.
20:01
*including* tech like that.
blind firing, torpedo spread, shuttle launching, saucer separation, cloak detection, point defense, boarding & capture, ....
Nope, he definitely wasn’t... and he also had some... personal problems the following years until he had a glorious comeback in so many cheered roles
And then there's Carl Urban...I dont know about you but I only started noticing him everywhere after "the boys".
He had a crack cocaine and alcohol issue around this time, and it definitely impacted his career. Great that he bounced back and started getting recognition.
How are the Borg an "easy" assignment?
Only one word strikes fear into the heart of the Borg queen... "Janeway..."
For emotional impact, I recommend the double episode "Reunification" (S5 e7-8) and "Relics"(s6e4).
9:27 the interplay between Picard and admiral janeway doesn’t make much sense til you factor in the other series “Star Trek voyager”
That admirals ship got stranded on the other side of the galaxy, even at maximum speeds…projected as roughly 70 year journey…
With some shortcuts and luck and meeting some people along the way they cut it down to 7 years
But they were completely apart from any form of support or stable resupply etc…
Nor did they have access to repair and refuel facilities anywhere near as easily…
You will have to watch a few episodes to understand some of the plot elements- I count four:
TNG: I, Borg
VOY: Scorpion, part 1 (VOY is short for Voyager, a series about a Starfleet ship stranded on the other side of the galaxy. The episodes take place between First Contact and Insurrection)
VOY: Scorpion, part 2
VOY: The Gift
You've had more than enough Trek now to do _Galaxy Quest_ !
(To hell with _Picard_ ).
Just have the three reboot movies left. Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016).
So many people ripped on this movie, but I really enjoyed it. It didn't help that it came out a few days before The Two Towers.
Jerry Goldsmith came back and that's why the theme is memorable and why it's just a good soundtrack period.
It has been a long journey. One might even say it’s been a long road getting from there to here.
Viceroy: Give me Troi!
Riker: I... have had... enough of YOU!
10:23 - OK, who else needs a Star Trek VS Predator crossover now?
I worked at AMC as a projectionist when this came out. Almost nobody came to watch this. Personally, I love all the movies. Great reaction!
Data is my favorite Star Trek character. Also, Nemesis is my third favorite Star Trek film, after the most recent one, Star Trek Beyond, and my favorite, First Contact.
Poor data, there's lots of cut scenes on RUclips from the after effects of the sacrifice, they do make the movie better
If you want some more scifi/space movies
Apollo13 is very much worth a watch, 2001 A space odyssey, Enemy mine, Contact, Arrival, Annihilation, Planet of the Apes movies, Blade Runner, Stargate, The Fly, Signs...
I'm a huge fan of the "new Treks" they've done a great job with the reboot.
You must be kidding.
@@zerefcifer 🤔 you must be a Democrat... Thinking that you're opinion has to be EVERYONE'S opinion huh? I don't like chocolate. Deal with it and keep it moving.
They are fun, but often very dumbed down, over the top, and play fast and loose with writing.
Still a great cast, for most part.
I enjoy them as comfort fun movies rather than, Star Trek movies but really hope he enjoys reacting to them
@@57kwest You must be a political nut. lol I have no political affiliation. How about that? :) Stop being so defensive. I have my opinion too. Or do I have to agree with you? Gizz... everyone's turning political now. Get a life. You're leaking stress all over the internet. :)
9:23 yes, Easy especially with what Janeway had to deal with on her seven year journey in the Delta Quadrant. All of which can be seen on Voyager. Highly recommend it. Has a lot of dud episodes, but overall and entertaining watch.
EDIT: also at 20:12 I don’t think there are any families on the Enterprise E. There were on D, but with the threat of the Dominion, Starfleet was more militarized and thus famines weren’t permitted on starships
In the end, Data showed how Human he really was in all the ways it counted, down to his last moments.
I just watched this one last week. Cool! When you're done with this series, have you considered going through the James Bond movies? Patrick Stewart speaking at that dinner reminded me so much of Gregory Peck. Wow!
Star Trek: Enterprise. Can't recommend it enough.
I feel that Seasons 1-3 were hit & miss, but I really liked S4. Lots of fan service which for a lot of people they'd normally consider it a bad thing (or too pandering or whateevr), but they did a really good job of it. Well, except for the finale.
@@WhiskyCanuck Yeah, I really liked Season 4 of the show as well.
*Enterprise
He only had small parts in "Black Hawk Down" and "Bands of Brothers" before this
- The Composer was Jerry Goldsmith, and it was his final Trek-Score.
The Federation discontinued this practice at some point, probably because of the Dominion War (which again got a mention here)
- The Admiral, Janeway, was the Main Character of "Star Trek Voyager"
- As far as I know, in the Novels set after this movie, Data did eventually come back via the memories stored in B4, but this was sadly never canon.
LLAP
This Movie must be set after the end of the Voyager series as Captain Janeway is now an Admiral in Star Fleet Command
It’s so refreshing seeing the pure joy and excitement you get from these movies. I’m kind of like you, I never met a Star Trek movie I didn’t like. I loved this one, despite it being unpopular with “The Fans.” Keep up the great work!
Yes agreed criticism is cool but like he loves most of the movies kinda like me
"That's a long drop, that boy should be dead."
That is a long drop, especially considering they're five decks below the lowest deck on this ship. (Deck 29, when First Contact expressly states it has only 24)
It would have been interesting to see Tom Hardy playing a real younger Picard in a pre-TNG series. Maybe about the Stargazer adventures.
Brent spiner has an absolutely hilarious show on RUclips. So if you ever wanted to hear data without a filter I highly recommend it. He talks bad s*** and throws shade at Jordy. Lol
9:31 "The Borg, easy? Come one."
You are unaware of Janeway's record with the Borg.
"Positronic signatures are only known to emanate from androids like myself."
Or you know, nebulas, pulsars, stars, planetary magnetic fields, PET scan machines, BANANAS!
The TNG cast are amazing close too each other to this day and have had none of the major personal issues that the original series cast had with each other.
really glad you enjoyed this movie as much as I did.
d fun
this is the end of the TNG arc. please watch the JJ films they are different and fun.
Young Tom Hardy killed in his role, IMO, a taste of what was to come in his career.
The streaming show "Picard" is a continuation of Data's story from "Nemesis".
Shinzon was played by Tom Hardy aka Bane!
I cant wait til you watch the next movie, The 2009 Star Trek Reboot. I've been waiting patiently the whole year for you to react to it. Lol . I think you'll really enjoy it.
problem with this ending is that the Enterprise had a full compliment of shuttles equipped with weapons systems, and transporters
While watching your reactions I have the strange habit to sing " It's a primate" pretending to be Bonnie Tyler singing "it's a heartache.". ❤ and I keep repeating lol
Lmao
9:20 Admiral Janeway, formerly known as Captain Janeway, was the protagonist (and captain) of the Voyager, besides Deep Space 9 the second spin-off series set in the same era as The Next Generation series!
The plot of this series was the Voyager got catapulted into the Delta Quadrant of the Galaxy, so thousand(s) of light years away from the Federation in unknown area to find a way home
Btw, she was sarcastic when she said Picard gets all the easy tasks 😅
In the other side, compared to be lost in the Delta Quadrant, a lot of things Picard had to face were more easy 😄
Now that you have watched the movies, you really should react to Star Trek - Picard. Well...maybe cut out season 2. But the current season 3 is shaping up to be the best.
I always loved this movie, even thou a lot didnt like it. RIP Data.
20:18 They don't keep families on the ship anymore. Not since the Dominion War.
Now you gotta watch Star Trek Picard, where they continue the story of Picard and Data. The newer movies are also a fun watch, they play out in a different reality, showing how Kirk, Spock and the rest got together in an alternate universe. They got some great actors to play those iconic characters.
I hope, in the future, you start watching the series starting with the original.
The director of this movie knew nothing about Star Trek and it shows in pretty much every minute. They digitally lowered Worf's voice to make him sound "more alien" after the character had sounded the same for 15 years already at this point, for example. It's just disrespectful to the franchise and the fans.
21:43 At least they learned somthing from Princess Leia...
Brent Spiner (Data) decided that Data should be killed off as he was showing signs of age and seen as Androids are not supposed to get older in appearance this would be easier than trying to explain how data was getting old
I remember not liking this one at all, but I'm glad you liked it.
Been waiting what feels like an age for this
I admit, seeing Data die in this movie, I broke me, and it was hard for me to watch this for years until Star Trek Picard mini series seeing Data return. It made it easier to watch Nemesis again.
Admiral Janeway was captain of Voyager. I like Star Trek Voyager in season 4 when 7 of 9 became part of the crew a female borg. They never made a movie only 7 seasons.
Ha ha! I remember back in the day when Primate said the ships looked ugly.
i was twelve when i saw this in theaters. it was a little sad because i was the only one in it watching it. god i loved this film. still watch them every now and then. cant wait for the new show to come out!
This movie has deleted scenes, that deals with stuff.
The OG TNG cast did NOT like this film, the director had never seen Star Trek, nor did he feel he needed to, and basically turned it into an action flick :/
And yes, while the space combat in this IS cool, there needs to be more of a story.
As far as Picard's conversation with Admiral Janeway.... let's just say you should watch Star Trek: Voyager and you'll understand why she said that he gets the easy assignments :P
While the films are good (up to this one which was mediocre, and then the "Nu Trek" of this era which is worse), the shows are where its at. TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise are excellent and you should definitely give them a watch. Lower Decks is probably the only newer Trek show that is worth watching, and to get full enjoyment out of it you should definitely watch the prior series, there are a lot of callbacks to them lol
That shuttle IS moving fast, full impulse power is approx.
Who would have ever thought Shinzon would eventually become Max in Fury Road. Or Venom.
You could say Shinzon was born to the darkness Jean Luc only adopted it.
At this time who knew Tom Hardy would make so many good movies: Star Trek, Batman Rises, Warrior, Venom…
