    All Samoan boys learn how to make these in the village, growing up. It’s why these guys can go abroad (in this case, Hawaii) and can put on a display like this. Childhood training! Samoans should abandon western “fast foods” and return to their original diet - “slow food!” Lol. Manuia le aso!

    The ulu you are using, is not the right one for the kaufolo. Ulu Aveloloa is the ulu to use for the Kaufolo. I remember as a kid when visiting my grandparents in Samoa, this was one of those snacks that I really enjoyed and would always asked my parents to make it. In the U.S., it is very limited, and you can't find it at the stores, especially the ones that sell Samoan food.
